Following my heart, one book at a time...
I’ve just picked up a few books from the series, and made sure to purchase the two “Book One’s”. How can that be? Apparently, while “Wolf at the Door” is considered book one in “The Others” series, the author had previously released a book called “Fantasy Fix” with another publisher (Ellora’s Cave). It has since been re-released, as Book#6 (renamed One Bite With a Stranger), and the author states:
It contains new content and can be considered the First Novel of the Others.
I tried to get in some reading time yesterday, but again, it was intermittent. After a day of perusing stores for Christmas shopping (in which my husband bestowed upon me an early Christmas gift with a pair of True Religion jeans – they’re SHINY!), I took time during his “electronics shopping” to sneak in a few chapters.
I have read only one complete book so far this weekend (finished One Bite With a Stranger late last night), and while it was cute, it wasn’t a page turner. I think I will move on to “The Host” today, as I’m hearing that it is actually really good, and I have more time to be fully engrossed in a story.
I’m trying a fun new activity with a large group of bloggers, that are dedicating this Thanksgiving weekend to reading!
I’ve decided to read as many of the books from “The Others” series by Christine Warren. I have actually started on One Bite With A Stranger (The Others, Book 6), which, in all actuality, as per the author, is the original book#1 (interesting publishing date issues).
I am on page 127. I started the book late last night and read sporadically until 3am (I needed to nap a few times 😉 ), before I finally called it a night and slept for real. I like the premise so far (good girl is enticed by her friends to live a little, and they take her to a bar to meet someone for a “fling”. She meets someone incredibly sexy alright, but he is actually a vampire. Captivated by her, he decides she will be his (forever), and seduces her, all the way to her apartment.
Acheron (Dark-Hunter, Book 12)
Careful if you haven’t read the series, as Ash’s love interest is revealed towards the end of my review. I will admit I was slightly disappointed that I knew who it was before I got to that part in the book (it was my bad though, I accidentally stumbled on it while searching the web for something else)…
Acheron. To me, he is the dreamiest of all the dreamy heroes (regardless of series). The slow tantalizing build up of his character, from each book in the Dark-Hunter series, comes to a head in a long and detailed narration. We are guided through each step of his existence, from Acheron’s heritage, doomed birth, horrific life as a human, and how he becomes who he is today.
A quick message to Bonnie (and all of you who feel or have felt the same way after finishing book four in the Twilight Saga)…
I know….I do. I really do. I’ve been there.
My husband’s been there (through me).
My employees have been there (through me).
You feel like you’ve just been visited by your best friend, and they’ve just left to go home, and you’re sitting there all alone. I know. It’s hard. (*giggle* – woops – sorry ’bout that).
