I hear this series might be for you, if you love the “Crossfire” books. I’ve also been told that there are no cliffhangers, and, book #2 has just been released. 😉 This one’s for you, Maddie, since you asked me to help you find them, I figured I’d put up the reading order (linked up) for anyone else looking for it. I agree… #2 was kind of hard to find on Amazon, but here you go. 😀

The Dark Light of Day
My Facebook crew started talking about this book on Friday and it appeared to be putting them in an emotional frenzy. Dark, and crazy sounding (but not our “usual” dark read – no kidnappers or Stockholm syndrome in this one), but either way, their enthusiasm alone had me  jumping on it! And I was already “in”, on my way to purchase the book, but once I read this part in the synopsis…

Book Review – Consumed by Skyla Madi

I’m always in the mood for a good “MMA fighter” book. Done right, I get a real thrill in the danger, develop a full-on crush on the unattainable hero and have all of my alpha-needs met. And while this wasn’t my absolute favorite, it entertained me and satisfied my need for this genre. It had all of the usual alpha male fighter bells and whistles:

  • the ultimate coveted heartbreaker that isn’t interested in anything more than one night,
  • bossy and bad-ass (in the ring and out),
  • that suddenly gets hung up on that one “normal” girl that eases his emotional turmoil, and yet,
  • insists he doesn’t want to “taint” her because…
  • his biggest contender is himself, and he’s stuck in a never-ending losing battle against his personal demons that make him unworthy of “good”.

So what makes it different? In this book, (there was a lot of it – 406 pages!!), the author mostly took her time with her characters (until we get to the end, of course). *sigh* As so often happens, the end seems to fly by compared to the pacing of the bulk of the book as a whole. read more
