Painting the Lines: A Hot Romantic Comedy (Ace of Hearts Book 1)Β <—Β ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS, SLOW BURN SPORTS ROMANCE ALERT!! We love those!! And it’s being touted as being “Perfect for fans of “The Hating Game” and “Wimbledon”.” OMG IT SOUNDS SO FUN and it’s super-bargain priced right now. π The author is celebrating her release by sponsoring tomorrow’s Friday Finds newsletter AND giving away an ebook copy right here!
The author mentions:
“My debut novel, Painting the Lines, is a slow burn sports romance…”
“I canβt wait for yβall to read Amalie and Julianβs story.”
“…Julian is such a sweet talker underneath all that sarcasm. “
So what’s it about?
Amalie Warner wants another shot to prove that she can be a successful writer. After hitting the bestsellerβs list nine years ago, sheβs lost her spark.
Feeling pressure from her father to leave her writing behind and to work for her familyβs lucrative hotel business, sheβs desperate to find inspiration for her next big idea, something that challenges and excites her, something real.
Enter Julian Smoke, a failed tennis player making a dream run for the US Open.
After a chance meeting at a bar, Amalie hates him instantly. Heβs cocky and arrogant, but Amalie knows his story could be her big break.
Could he be more?
Everyone knows that in tennis, love means zero, but these two are about to change that.
And she asks:
Is enemies to lovers your jam? Itβs my favorite trope, which is why I chose it for Painting the Lines.
Whatβs your favorite enemies to lovers book? Mine is a tie between The Hating Game or The Wall of Winnipeg and Me.
She’s a reader with great books taste, too, ’cause she’s a huge fan of two of my own favorites, Mariana Zapata and Tessa Bailey! π AND she LOVES slow burn romance too! YAY US!!!
Here are some fun and sweet tidbits about the author and her writing dream:
As per her Facebook post, regarding her own real life true love (who’s also a tennis player!):
My husband has supported my writing dream since day one and has always encouraged me even when I felt like the dream might not be for me. When I wanted to give up, heβd play the Rocky Balboa speech for me (YβALL that speech is my battle cry lol), would remind me to keep moving forward.
Iβve saved all the precious βyou got thisβ texts from him when Iβd get rejection after rejection. Heβs spent hours bouncing ideas around and working through plot holes and fleshing out characters with me. Heβs written tennis scenes with me (heβs a brilliant tennis player) because I wanted to get the action as authentic as possible.
When I got my book deal with City Owl, he cried right alongside me, so happy at the dream realized. Iβm so thankful for my husband, for my best friend, and am so thankful I get to do life with him. I love him more than words will ever be able to express.
Where she loves to writeΒ (it looks SO serene!!):
The place where I get my best writing done is on the porch of the Jekyll Club with a big sweet tea.
…a place that inspires us to write. Jekyll Island is that place for me. This view, along with the Jekyll Club, is featured in my debut, Painting the Lines.
A few #latergram pics from our weekend getaway to one of our favorite places. It even features in my debut novel for a chapter or two!
How she celebrated her book release!
My husband and my second parents threw me a release party last night (donβt worry, it was just us 4, nothing irresponsible) and I had such a great time!
My second mom surprised me with a gorgeous book cake (I may have cried) made by our Aunt Melissa (swipe to see her amazing skills) and I had stunning book cookies made by the incredibly talented @mimiscookiecreations (swipe to see her absolute brilliance).
And of course we had tennis on in the background and I wore my Rafael Nadal shirt.
Make sure to check out this fantastic interview with the author here. Tons of great insight as to who she is, and what inspired her for this story and what she loves to read (and some of her own favorite authors). π

I love slow burn! Iβve been looking for something to read so I just clicked it. I know thereβs a giveaway but I donβt want to wait lol.
LOL!! It sounds so good, doesn’t it??
ASHLEY DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO
NOT GET RID OF YOUR MAN!!! He is a treasure and a keeper and sounds like you are his #1. (No offense hope he is good in bed too). If my husband had been that encouraging no telling what I would have done.
I have so many favorites, itβs hard to choose β King by TM Frazier & Someone Elseβs Ocean by Kate Stewart are the first ones to come to mind!
I know it was mentioned in the post, but I really loved The Hating Game! I have the worst book memory but that one stuck with me.
Love these books.
The Hating Game is my favorite.
Playing for Keeps (Neighbor from Hell #1) by R.L. Mathewson, Bully by Penelope Douglas, Fallen too Far by Abbi Glines, or Rule by Jay Crownover are a few of my favorite enemies to lovers books.
I love slow burn and enemies to love books so much. My favorites are The Wall of Winnipeg and Wait for it, both by Mariana Zapata. I am always on the look out for new voices in the romance genre. I would love to win a copy of Painting Lines.
