HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!!! I hope this will be an amazing start to March, and happy birthday to all the leap year babies!! π
The first “leap year” person I ever knew was when I was about 7 or 8 years old. He was the lifeguard at our public pool (his name was Heydan… or Aiden? I can’t remember?). My older sister had a crush on him (they were around the same age so that was fine). He explained to me what leap year was, and for the rest of my life, at the end of every February I think about him. I remember he was only “five years old” the year I met him. LOL!!! I could NOT wrap my head around that when he was obviously, what looked like an adult to me.
THREE THINGS:
1.) I cooked a Mississippi Pot Roast this weekend (with potatoes and green beans), but I didn’t use the right “roast”. It should have been pork shoulder or something fatty and shreddable, but I used my pork tenderloin roast, and it was good but not great. *sigh*
2.) I had a great weekend. Peaceful, and silly, and lots of listening to music. Also another episode of Pam and Tommy.
3.) My boyfriend made us an amazing melty-cheeeeeesy (cheddar curd cheese) omelette yesterday for breakfast. He’s always cooking for me, and he’s amazing at it. I miss him already.

Sounds like a pretty great weekend to me, Maryse. I set out a roast today to cook tomorrow Mississippi style. I donβt think itβs shreddable either. Itβs a beef rump roast.
1. My day started off great. Iβm always looking forward to the next monthβs Book of the Month picks, but this month has so many awesome choices! I couldnβt help myself from picking 3. The first I got to use my credit and the other 2 hardbacks were only 9.99 each. And! I got The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James (wrote The Broken Girls and The Sun Down Motel that I absolutely loved), The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley (wrote The Guest list, also loved) and The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd which just sounded good/different. But, I really had a tough time choosing. The Unsinkable Greta James, The Love of my Life by Rosie Walsh, One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle, and Dating Dr. Dil all sound good to me! Just thought Iβd share again in case anyone wanted to try the service out for a month or so. I believe you get a discount on the first box. π https://www.mybotm.com/w0bbo88qkc?show_box=true
2. Eventful weekend with Disney on Ice and swim meet. It was a lot of fun, but Iβm ready for a bit more of a relaxing weekend. Wonβt be this weekend either. Lol. Managed to keep up on the treadmill at least one of the days too. Iβve incorporated incline a couple of times and *whoo* that changes things. I feel like I did conditioning for track in school. π I really hope this ends up paying off.
3. A couple warmer days on the horizon, itβs brighter earlier and I swear the sun feels different in the afternoons. Spring is coming!!
Tasha, thanks for your mystery/thriller book titles! I’m really getting into that genre.
This month, I’m moderating a GR Murder Mystery book discussion. People voted to read these books…You Can Run by Zavarelli (CR), The Anatomist’s Wife by Anna Lee Huber (HR), Memory Zero by Keri Arthur (PNR), Girl in the Mist by K. Ashley (CR)
Those all sound really good and all different. Would love to know if you love any of them!
Now I shall look up all of these new books!! Thank you Tasha J!!
Hi Maryse, T L Swan has her new book Ferrara out todsy
So excited for this one!! Well any of her books!! About to start it now!!
Thanks Ana! I’m on it… π
Thank you Ana!!! I’m adding it right now on the Tuesday list since I missed it. π
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Maryse, sounds like you had an awesome one! I LOVE Mississippi pot roast! I’m also always down for a yummy, cheesy omelet. π
Maryse, I am loving Misfit Market! It’s really helped me keep my produce buying in check and it’s super convenient! It’s also helping my fiance and I get a little more creative with our veggie choices/dishes.
1. My brother smoked a brisket on Saturday, so we had that along with scalloped potatoes, mac-n-cheese and collard greens. I slipped from my healthy eating for the occasion. OMG it was delicious!
2. I FINALLY finished my reread of the first three books of the Legacy of the Nine Realms series which led me straight into reading the recent release of the 4th book. Altogether, it was about 2700 pages of reading, so it took me a while, but MAN, book 4 was soooooooo good!! Now I’ve got to wait for book 5. π
3. I have NO idea what to read next. Has anyone read the Crave series by Tracy Wolff? It keeps popping up as a suggestion for me on Facebook. There’s been a ton of great reviews, but I’m curious on what you all think?
OH I LOVE Misfit Market too!!! I wasn’t able to get in this week (bummed!!) because the site was slow but I just realized they have a whole new app thingie so I have a feeling that messed stuff up for now.
P.S. Your comment:
“…My brother smoked a brisket on Saturday, so we had that along with scalloped potatoes, mac-n-cheese and collard greens. I slipped from my healthy eating for the occasion. OMG it was delicious!..”
OMG THIS IS HEAVEN TO ME. Stupid healthy eating!!!!!
1. Stop, stop…too many good food ideas! Among others, love the idea of a cheese curd omelette.
2. Just made this recipe for dinner…Mediterranean Bean Soup Recipe with Tomato Pesto (replaced olive & basil with remade pesto) Very good. https://www.themediterraneandish.com/three-bean-soup-tomato-pesto/
3. This afternoon, a close girlfriend I hadn’t seen since covid dropped in to chat. And we talked for 3-1/2 hours about lots of nothing. Felt like life was normal again.
That soup looks delicious, I added to my favorites and will make soon. I am so hungry all the time on this *ugh* diet. This looks filling with the potatoes and beans. Speaking of omelette, I just sent this recipe I saw to my Mom, sheβs a fantastic omelette maker, and I want to try it! Not sure the link will work, but itβs a sweet and savory omelette with dates. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CaQxghCgdkC/?utm_medium=copy_link
That soup sounds AH-MAAAAAZING.
And my cheese curd omelette would have rocked my world with some mushrooms, but my boyfriend HATES mushrooms. Like don’t contaminate his food with mushrooms kind of hate. LOL!!!! π
There is a sale for premium plus members!! I have several Iβm purchasing for less than $4.00!!! Itβs that time of year where Iβm on the go A LOT and love books so much I listen to them because I have less time to read them. Hope this helps somebody!

Thank you Aimee!!!!
No problem!!! I might have went overboardβ¦.. I bought 12ππππ³ but the most I spent on 1 was $4.50β¦. And Tasha talking about a roast has me wanting one so bad now!!!
Omg. Your first leap year person when I read that I thought I want to read that. Great blurb to a good Maryse.
LOL!!!! That would be a sweet comedy romance for sure. Hrmmm… I should ask my sister about her crush and if that ever came to fruition. π
