HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!! Lookit what just went LIVE EARLY!!Β And.. OMG. Tomorrow is HALLOWEEN MONTH!!!!! I am pulling out all of my decorations this upcoming weekend and going to town. *fingers crossed* it cools down here at least a little for it to feel like Florida Fall. π I need the BRISK!!!
THREE THINGS:
1.) I saw Ad Astra this weekend I must admit… Brad Pitt is at his finest. *oooomph* I’ve always acknowledged his handsomeness (but never been overly “crushy” on him – I mean… he’s Brad Pitt. Of course… it’s a no-brainer, so… *shrugs* LOL!!!), but something about his solemn character, his introspective, yet remote narration in this one just made me… *fans self* Maybe I like men with that “more mature” thing goin’ on? ‘Cause he’s got just a touch of that here, even though he still has that perfect baby face, but yeah… his current look (and age?) makes him that much finer.
Oh and… oh yeah!!!! *chagrined* I forgot to mention!!! I really enjoyed the actual movie too, with quite a few crazy-scary moments – some shocking scenes that get you deep (exploring outer space just scares the crap out of me anyway). I’m claustrophobic in all of that vastness. Isn’t that weird? It’s all that emptiness… the nothingness… the though of it overwhelms me – one of my worst nightmares. So this movie creeped me out even if it was about MORE than just… “creepy”. But also what made it amazing was the incredible message after all of it. WOW. JUST WOW. Anyway, definitely a movie worth seeing at the theater. Mind you, a girl in my row, right after pivotal scary scene walked out of the movie with her boyfriend in tow (purse and all) proclaiming “This movie SUCKS!!” so… *shrug* I dunno, what she thought was sucking at that point she decided to leave but at that VERY moment? I. Was. Riveted. LOL!!!!! P.S. I’d tell you what scene it was, but that would be a spoiler. π
2.) I made Keto chicken and dumplings in my crockpot yesterday!!! Which essentially means… I made chicken. No dumpings. π LOL!!! The whole shebang though. Nice homemade chicken stock, a ton of shredded chicken breast, a plethora of various veggies, cream, sour cream, some melty cheese in the whole mix. YUMMMMMM!!!!! VERY RICH. I’m having it for lunch. No dumplings though. π
3.) I’m reading Park Avenue Player, and it’s kind of… fantastic. WOW. I laughed my butt off in chapter 16, I TOTALLY get her (and even if it’s from both POVs… it works ’cause we don’t always know quite what he’s thinking). And there’s gonna be a twist and I have TWO guesses. Either way, if I win, it’ll be gasp-worthy. There’s depth here. All that to say, I’m almost done but I had to take a step back right-the-heck-now… ’cause I’m at a part that makes me want to ugly cry, so… yeah. No. Instead, for a breather… I decided to make a list π THIS ONE. YAY LISTS!!!!

Good morning!!
Three things:
1 – I finished both of my 2019 reading challenges and feel soooooo relieved. Yay me!!
2 – Trying to figure out what to cook for dinner. Maryse’s chicken sounds delish but I want the dumplings! π I have one meal’s worth of bolognese in freezer so I think I will have that with cheese ravioli.
3 – Saw Blinded by the Light this weekend and it was good. I’m not even a Springsteen fan but enjoyed the music and it’s a true story! I love movies based on real life.
ME TOO!!! I’m a huge fan of biographies (movies or books). You know what’s weird? I LOVE that song (Blinded by the Light) and I had NO clue it was Bruce Springsteen that sang it. WOW!!
We had ravioli last night, so good! I even made garlic toast and veggies. βΊοΈ Iβm trying to plan out meals this week too, I have a grocery run to do today. Iβm thinking lemon, garlic salmon, salisbury steak and smashed red potatoes, and some kind of concoction I made once with rice, ground beef, black beans, diced tomatoes and spices. But I also want tacos. π
Tasha, you’re killing me! Now I really am starving!! That all sounds super yummy!
Maryse, I feel you your pain on Park Avenue Player. So good. When you finish you should start T L Swan’s Stopover. It’s another page turner. Loved it too!! Now I’m reading Serenading Heartbreak.
Susan, I’m having so much fun with this one. All of the characters are so believable (even his little niece). LOVING!!!
P.S. I’m posting your recommendation on tomorrow’s big list!! π
Another great list Maryse!!
Now for my 3 things:
1 – My pool is getting closed today (for the season)…boo. So, I floated for a few hours yesterday to get my fix in! Of course, the weather is still in the upper 80’s for the next 3 days but I’m working and my hubby is tired of fishing the neighbor’s leaves out…and we have to eventually close it here in the Midwest anyway …so he won out…but I stretched it to October 1st π
2 – I finished A War of Heart by S. Young last week (it releases tomorrow). Samantha Young’s jump to adult paranormal romance and I loved it. It was primarily a werewolf book, even though other paranormal beings were included too…some vamps, etc. There wasn’t really anything too surprising in it, but I felt like it was well done. It was chock full of violence and sex …hence the “adult” classification…a super fun read!
3 – I’m now thinking About FragrantBooks’s Keto chicken and dumplings and I’m starving! I’m so excited for cooler weather…I tend to use my crockpot more then.
OH YAY!! I’ll add your recommendation comment on the New Release post tomorrow. π
And I’m sad about the pool closing… I don’t close mine but I don’t use it in the winter because the solar heater can’t keep it warm enough…
I wondered if you could use it in the winter…poo! At least it looks pretty though!
I really want an edit button, Maryse. I messed up the title to S. Young’s book…possibly because of the cold meds I’m pumping into my body…it should be War of Hearts!
FYI- I just got Hating The Boss by Kristen Granata for free on Amazon. It sounded good, looked it up and itβs free! YAY
Whatβs on your October spooky feel/mood read short list?? Iβm still βreadingβ 3 books here (The Whisper Man, The One, Never Have I Ever) but I keep eyeballing all these good sounding spooky books and I might start more! π Like The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd Jones (get your mind outta the gutter!) or Full Throttle by Joe Hill just cuz itβs short stories and that seams doable or The Grace Year by Kim Liggett or A Cosmology of Monsters by Shaun Hamill or All the Bad Apples by MoΓ―ra Fowley-Doyle or House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A Craig!!! Of course there are a couple to release months out that I wish I could read now too. Like The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James and All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace.
Now tell me yours so I can put em on my βshortβ list. π€£π€£
I’m on library hold for House of Salt and Sorrows – it’s gotten some great reviews!! I’m starting The Grace Year later this week…I’m thrilled to have an ARC for it…I’ll let you know what I think. Also, look up Ghoster by Jason Arnopp – I haven’t read it yet but have an ARC to read this month. It sounds fun and a bit creepy too!
I canβt wait to see what you think of them!! We have similar taste and you always leave such good feedback. βΊοΈ
Iβm restraining myself, temporarily, from starting anything new until I finish at least 1 of my current reads.
A couple of things, Binding 13 (A rugby Sports Romance) by Chloe Walsh is currently free. I have this on my Kindle and really need to move this up my TBR!! Also, starting on October 1, The Pucked Series by Helena Hunting will be free on KU.
AWESOME FINDS!! I’ll add them to the Friday Finds list!! π
Ha ha Maryse. That person saying the movie sucked and walking out while you were finding it gripping. Way to break the moment. Years ago a group of us went to see the first Lord of The Rings movie, which is part 1 in a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger, which I already knew before I went. But apparently a lady in the row in front of us had no idea it was a cliffy, and she was SO ANGRY when the credits started to roll. She clearly felt ripped off and used some pretty blue language. Eek. Everyone was turning around in the darkness and looking to see what all of the fuss was about. LOL.
LOL Jan!!!! That must have been hilarious!!!
Her poor boyfriend was slinking off behind her. I have a feeling HE wanted to see it. π
