The Decision: Overcoming Today’s BS for Tomorrow’s Success <— There is no better title than that one!!! π This is the first audiobook that I’ve ever preordered and it was everything I was hoping for. Absolutely PERFECT. I LOVE Kevin Hart’s motivation and inspiring outlook on life, and this will be one I will listen to, time and time again.
So some of you know, I’m a motivational audiobook junkie (I start my day off every morning listening to them). They’re a bit hard to review, ’cause I can’t easily quote my favorite parts or even highlight them to get my point across as to why they are must-reads (or listens). But some of them are so easy to relay, because the message hits home, and it sticks. This is one of thoseΒ and it’s at the top of my favorites list in this genre.
His energy. his logic, his positivity, his outlook on life… it just resonated with me.
He’s down to earth, you guys. He has made mistakes, and makes no excuses. He doesn’t hide here. And by being real, by acknowledging real life and decisions in all of their glories and downfalls, he’s relatable and genuine. He’s made the decision to take something good away from the bad. Learn. Grow. Reach our full potential with a proper mindset and we must let go of what doesn’t serve us… of what puts us in mental and energetic downward spiral.
I believe him when he talks to me. It’s genuine. I feel it innately. I felt like I was hanging out with one of my favorite friends and we were having a heart-to-Hart. π <— See what I did there? I’ve always loved Kevin Hart’s comedy roles and he delivers this amazing message through plenty of Kevin Hart-esque humor (bad words – plenty of those – along with hilarious observations and rants and word inventions).
Oh yes… it can get goofy, and he loses track every once in awhile when he says something funny (and then he goes into a comedic spin – which will have you laughing, or rolling your eyes but in a good way) :P.
Every day is a new chance to make the right decisions, to learn from – and then let go of – my mistakes, release any negativity I may have felt, and to start again.
It gets serious… it does. What he says has true depth and comes from a place of personal experience. But no worries… he always lightens it back up with his goofy silliness. I love that. Though… his contemplation of renaming this audiobook “golden nuggets in your ear” title… maybe not so much. *snort* When he says something seriously profound, he gets all surprised and excited, and warns you not to wash your ear ’cause it’s all gold now with THAT awesome golden nugget he just dropped in it. He’s a goof!
I wish I could quote so many things that are in my head (the deep stuff and the funny stuff). I can hear him still. But alas, I won’t get the quote right, and it’s much better to have it delivered from him, anyway.
5 STARS!!! <— He had me smiling and giggling every single morning as I got ready, and there could be no better way to start a day, but with a smile on my face, love in my heart, and a positive outlook. This is exactly what I look for, when I want to be reminded of how wonderful life is (and can always be). Such an simple guide into living exactly that.
P.S. Having heard from another motivational life coach that his other book (I Can’t Make This Up: Life Lessons) was absolutely incredible too, I’ll be listening to that, next!
