Audiobook Addiction Reader Recommendations Part 3

Time for Audiobook Favorites list #3 and this one just may be the biggest one yet! And I’m so excited, cause I’m officially a member of Audible and paid up for the whole year & now I have lots of credits!!! So I took it to Facebook, and received a plethora of recommendations AND Audible & audiobook tips.

And I just realized while building this list. Not only is this a composite of our favorite audiobooks, but better yet, our favorite narrators!!! Because we’ve all come to realize, a narrator can make or break an audiobook. SO YAY!!!!!! 😀

Maryse: Okay I just got a yearly Audible membership and I can choose 12 audiobooks right off the bat (and then 2 a month – I think… anyway). Eeeeeep!! HOLY. MOLY.

My question to you is… what are your absolute FAVORITE audiobooks? ANY genre please. I’m like a kid in a candy store and I don’t know what to pick.

Maryse: Ohhhh wait!!! I forgot about the $1.99 audiobook matches to our ebooks. I’m gonna try it right now since I haven’t in awhile… 😀 OH YAY!! I already just found “When I Was You” by Minka Kent for super-deal since I have the audiobook. I love that author and I love psych thrillers and now I get to listen to it.

Angela: I highly recommend adding on Audible Escape if you plan to listen a lot. Sooooo many books are on there!

Susan: I suggest signing up for audible escape to take advantage of a lot of romance books.

AUDIOBOOK TIPS & TRICKS:

Heather: I would suggest not getting them all at once. Audible has specials throughout the year where you can get 2 books for 1 credit. 🙂

Amy: RE: For your yearly paid membership – The 12 credits is all you get for the year. You will also get 2 free Audible originals a month from a list Audible provides. I would suggest adding Audible Escape as they have a lot of great titles and that is much cheaper than a credit.

Also check the price prior to purchasing using a credit as a lot of audiobooks are cheaper if you already own the ebook. I save my credits for the 2 for 1 sales and audiobooks that are favorites from established series that I don’t plan on buying the ebook due to price (mostly traditionally published).

Katie: My main advice is to check the sample cause you might not like the voice of the reader and choose unabridged as then you get the whole story… also the mobile app has trophies to collect 😉🙂🙃

Krista: It definitely depends on the narrator

Jules: Anything narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt. Book doesn’t even have to be good 😂🤣😂🤣

Dani: It’s all in the narrators.

Katie: Make sure you speed the narration up to 1.25 or 1.50. That’s conversation speed and you will enjoy it so much more. Trust me.

Maryse: I’m thrilled with the tip!!! I had no idea!

Cheri: Interesting to increase speed. I don’t know if I did that.

Katie: Yes. the normal speed is very slow for proper annunciation and it drives regular readers mad. The sped up version is like us reading to ourselves.

FAVORITE AUDIOBOOKS RECOMMENDATIONS:

Victoria: I love my audiobooks it is so easy to clean and take care of the baby while listening to them! My favorite books are Heartless by Marissa Meyer and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. Both are so well narrated that you feel like you are watching a tv show instead of just listening to the book!

Barb: JD Robb – In Death series – start with Naked in Death: In Death, Book 1, the performer Susan Ericksen is amazing and will spoil you for any other – enjoy.

Lola: The In Death series by JD Robb (Nora Roberts)! Narrator Susan Ericksen is so good- she really brings each character to life! I highly recommend them!!!

Vicki: All the J.D.Robb In Death books are great on audible. Also Where the Crawdads Sing, The Giver of Stars: A Novel…so many!!

Caroline: The JD Robb series…I love the narrator! Amanda Bouchet, Lisa Gardner DD Warren series

Angela: The Idea of You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Robinne’s voice is divine!!!!! I highly recommend adding on Audible Escape if you plan to listen a lot. Sooooo many books are on there!

Ashley: The narrator for On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves is great too

Kathleen: Kristen Ashley’s The Beginning of Everything: The Rising, Book 1 and The Plan Commences: The Rising, Book 2. They are the first 2 in a 4 part series. They’re connected to The Fantasyland Series of hers.

Abby: I love Kristen Ashley’s Fantasyland Series on audible.

LD: yes. THIS

Jaimee: Kathleen, and her Games of the Heart is great on audible.

Lisa: All the Kristen Ashley books are wonderful. The narrators are top notch!! I listen to them over and over!!!

Erin: KA narrators are mostly great. Didn’t care for the dream man series narrator. Sebring: The Unfinished Heroes Series, Book 5 and Deacon are two of my top all time audio.

Tammy: Heaven and Hell by Kristen Ashley. I am not joking it is my absolute favorite audible book. I cannot tell you how often I have read it

Nancy: Melanie I agree- I love hearing the ‘proper pronunciation’ of the names and the language!

Katie: the entire Rock Chick Series. SO DANG GOOD. And the female narrator in the Rock Chick series is one of my favs.

Cheri: I love the Rock Chick series on audiobook as well. They are my favorites in audiobook. Interesting to increase speed. I don’t know if I did that. Loved the narrator and they were great!

Krista: Shadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo. The Harry Potter series was amazing on audible. I could go on and on lol.

Amy: Krista I loved the Shadow and Bone series as well! Wonderfully narrated.

Krista: Amy yes it was. I’ve listened to it twice.

Victoria: I loved the Harry Potter audio books – think they were read by Stephen Fry 🙂

Emily: The Harry Potter series, the guy that reads them is amazing. And I’m also loving the new Nora Roberts series’s.

Candace: Nora Roberts Chronicles of the One Trilogy… not only were the books fantastic, the narrator was phenomenal.

Jaimee: Kulti… Actually anything Mariana Zapata is great on audible. Ilona Andrews is amazing on audible. I kind of love listening to books I have already read… Takes the pressure off the book somehow 🤔

Joanne: Mariana Zapata: Under Locke

Gina: Mariana Zapata’s books are perfection in Audio. My favorite is The Wall of Winnepeg and Kulti is second. They’re all good!

Martha: Anything by Karin Slaughter but Pretty Girls is my favorite.

• The Jane Yellowrock series. Great books and amazing narrator.

Mindi: Jane Yellowrock series if you like SciFi. Narrator is awesome! Once I find a narrator that I like, then I try other books with that narrator.

• The Dark Tower series.
• The Joe Ledger series.
• The City Series and
• Until the World Ends series.

Ashley: Until the End of the World series by Sarah Lyons Fleming. Julia Whelan is a great narrator!

Val: Lisa Jewell‘s books are brilliant on audio. I also love Suanne Laqueur books on audio.

• Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,
• Sleeping Beauties: A Novel,
• Practical Magic,
• NOS4A2: A Novel,
• Ready Player One,
• and anything Will Patton reads for Stephen King.

Amy: The entire Outlander series! It is amazing on Audible. I’ve listened to them over and over again. And….they are very long, so you get your money’s worth. Well over 30 hours compared to many books that are 15 hours or less.

Teri: Davina Porter is one of the best narrators I have ever listened to. I’m with you, I’ve listened to this entire series over and over again…

Amy: I could listen to Davina Porter for hours and never tire of her voice. I’ve actually downloaded other books just because it was her reading them. She did amazing with Anna Karenina.

Kelly: Completely agree!!! I listen to the Outlander series over and over in between books and every night when I’m going to sleep. My absolute favorite book and narrator ever!

Jaimee: Agree! Her narration is my favourite!

Rachel: The best Audio book I have ever listened to is Stephen King’s It performed by Steven Weber. Amazing!!

Robin: The best audio book was Daisy Jones & The Six: A Novel. Books narrated by Andi Ardnt and Sebastian York are good. A bad narrator can really kill a book’s vibe. I listened to Vicious by LJ Shen and the male narrator often sound like he was stoned, when the character’s voice was supposed to be “sexy”. Through the entire book I couldn’t stop focusing on how Chistian Rummel was a very poor choice and it pulled me out of the story.

Jules: Anything narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt. Book doesn’t even have to be good 😂🤣😂🤣

Ray: Daisy Jones and the six is excellent on audible.

Becky: Daisy Jones and the Six was amazing! And if you like memoirs, Comedy Sex God by Pete Holmes is hilarious and thought provoking.

Ryn: Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Quite possible my favourite audiobook EVER!

Maryse: I DID get that one a week ago!! YAY!! I still need to start it but I can’t wait!

Vi Keeland: Daisy and the Six!! It’s such a good audio book!

Kimberly: I just finished this story and OMG I have NEVER heard a book read with so many narrators but it was Great!

KM: Daisy and the Six is by far the best audio I’ve listened to. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo: A Novel was great too.

Kelly: Am looking forward to Daisy Jones, Benjamin Bratt and Jennifer Beals!

Melanie: Throne of Glass: A Throne of Glass Novel

Jill: It’s not a new book, but On Dublin Street is wonderfully narrated, all of Jana Aston and Kristen Ashley’s books, and Meghan March’s Beneath Series. Such goodness!!!

Leslie: my favorite Audible book ever!!!!

Michelle: Children of Blood and Bone and the sequel Children of Virtue and Vengeance: Legacy of Orisha, Book 2 are the best narrated books I’ve ever listened to, and I’ve been listening to audio books for years!

Katie: My absolute favourites are Discworld by Terry Pratchett (unabridged, read by Nigel Planer or Stephen Briggs), Harry Potter the UK editions (unabridged and read by Stephen Fry). Stephen Fry actually has a few books read/written by him and they are good!

I listen to:

Susan: Best books I’ve listened to were Her Royal Spyness series

Tasara: Good Me Bad Me: A Novel by Ali Land. The book is AMAZING, but Imogen Church is the best narrator ever and makes the audible version!

• Born In Trilogy by Nora Roberts

Laura: What the Wind Knows

Jeri: My 1st audible is still my favorite…. The Witness. Nora Roberts. Her audibles a very well done IMO.

Jennifer: Devney Perry, Mia Sheridan, and Amy Harmon are my favs. So far I love all of theirs that I’ve tried!

Reanell: Making Faces and The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon!! The narrators are AMAZING!!

Elaina: Anything Nalini Singh, though I prefer her Guild Hunter narrator to her Psy/Changeling one. If you like thriller/mystery, her A Madness of Sunshine narrator is excellent as well.

Second favorite narrator is Holter Graham who reads Patricia Briggs Alpha and Omega series (the spin off of Mercy Thompson). Mercy’s narrator is wonderful as well.

Anne Bishop’s The Others series has an excellent narrator.

If you like sci/fi, anything read by Wil Wheaton is usually great (and he reads for John Scalzi who has excellent novels out).

Augh! How could I forget Seanan McGuire?! Mary Robinette Kowall does an amazing job with her Toby Daye series, InCryptid has a variety of narrators who all do wonderfully, and Sean herself reads her Wayward Children series (except the first one, I believe). All excellent novels!

Tasha: Heidi’s Guide to Four Letter Words by Tara Sivec is sooo funny!!

Pamela: Tasha agreed! I adored every minute. I know people thought I was crazy driving down the road laughing. Listen to it now, so funny.

Yvonne: Pamela YES!!! This is one of my favorite audiobooks!

Pamela: I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard. Andi Arndt nailed the narration. 🤣

Joanne: Lisa Kleypas: Smooth Talking Stranger: A Novel (Travis Series, Book 3)

Christina: I… I have audiobooks. 😂  Seriously though, Cake: A Love Story by J. Bengtsson and I just fell in love with Fluffy by Julia Kent. (Totally snort laughed through it.)

Carina: Unfu*k Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and into Your Life. So good. Great audio

Kris: It’s the BEST! 🤩 I love all non-fiction, self-development…so Rachel Hollis’s books are great in audio for that, and you can listen over and over again (or maybe that’s just me 😬)!💜

Maryse: Self help is my favorite in audiobooks (at least so far – I’m not very experienced in other genres yet) and I listen to them repeatedly too. 😀

Bethany: I love stuff like, Rob Lowe reading his book, Stories I Only Tell My Friends: An Autobiography. Or Kevin Hart reading his book. The artist reading their work is usually my go to for Audio.

Paula: I LOOOOVED the Rob Lowe Audiobook. Juicy! Autobiographies are great – I also enjoyed Carol Burnett and Billy Crystal.

Maryse: Oh yeah! I bet that’s awesome!!! I do love when the artists read their own. Like Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear (the author read it and it was fabulous)

Gina: loved Big Magic audio

Joanna: Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick was really good!

Jannah: The Wives by Tarryn Fisher. Also, Fahrenheit 451 narrated by Tim Robbins was EXCELLENT.

Bobbie: The Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz is AMAZING! So is the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter. Oh, oh, The Raven Cycle series too, the narration is so good!

Tasara: Bobbie I am so excited for The Priest!

Tonya: I love anything by Molly Harper! She has the same narrator, Amanda Ronconi, and she is amazing! I also love Carian Cole’s novels/series.

Helena: I love Molly Harpers Nice Girls/ Half Moon Hollow Series. Have them all on Audible

Amy: The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch. The first book is Midnight Riot: Peter Grant, Book 1 in the US, Rivers of London in the UK.

LaDawn: Joanna lindsey…hp…Lara Adrian…anything crime or paranormal fiction…. the list is endless

Nicola: Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah, and The Order of Time by Carlos Rovelli. It will blow your everlovin mind, and narrated by BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH. I will not apologize for the capslock. 😛

Joanna: Born a Crime <— And this one!! His accent is so cool!

LD: All of Sarah J Maas books! And Sarah Lyons Fleming’s!

KM: A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas. Love her audios too.

Francisca: Neil Shusterman’s audiobooks are soooo good!!

Francisca: Sadie was also fantastic and an entire Cast

Eve:

• John Scalzi.
• Peter Clines.
• Molly Harper.

Andrea: Find things narrated by Bianca Amato. “Her fearful symmetry”, the Tudor series. Her voice is other worldly.

Magan: Beauty Queens by Libba Bray (she narrates it and does her own little commercials and all the voices. Seriously THE BEST).

JoAnna: The Tattooist of Auschwitz: A Novel This is a MUST on audible!! Narrator absolutely killed it!! Amazing.

Mia: The Lightning-Struck Heart by TJ Klune narrated by Michael Lesley. Quite possibly one of the funniest audiobooks out there 🙂

Beth: The Pucked series by Helena Hunting. The first book I don’t care for the narrators, but the rest are awesome. I love Rose Diorio and Jacob Morgan. Favorite narrators

Kelly: I love listening to books I’ve read before. I catch things and nuances missed when reading. My top picks are:

• Under Locke
• Kulti
• Bad Things trilogy
• TM Frazier’s Dark Light of Day, and her extra hot King books 1-3 narrated by Rob Shapiro and OY is his voice hot!!!

bev: Someone has to listen to Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe as narrated by Lin Manuel Miranda. It’s so good and he is so very good….as you’d imagine. Somebody please, just give it a listen.

Cary Elwes narrating As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride is delightful as is the book. He has a wonderful speaking voice.

Yes Please by Amy Poehler is a fun listen. I mean she is so smart and funny and occasionally Patrick Stewart drops in.

Lynette: I have so many!!!! Been on audible from the start. But these are some of my favorite series:
