She’s been a fellow reader with us for awhile now (since 2015!!), but is one of “quieter” book-buds. π Nonetheless, she joins in every once in awhile (from many of her comments, I see she’s a BIG Rachel Van Dyken fan!!), and she’s sent us this great list!
But first… shall we get to know her better? I think YES! Here are some of her 2017 comment highlights!
About finding the blog! P.S. I am SO thrilled you’re with us, Anna!!
“I first found your blog when looking for something to read after Beautiful Disaster. Your blog has helped me find new books that I would not have discovered otherwise. Thank you for making my reading life better.Β “
Her own reader confession:
“I love broken tortured heroes! At least I thought I did but I havenβt read most of the books mentioned above. I have a lot of catching up to do. My favorite broken heroes are Sherrilyn Kenyonβs Dark Hunters.”
When she joined in and answered one of bev’s fun quizzes here (I LOVE these!!):

Ready for her 2017 Top Ten?
“Hi Maryse! I realized I never sent my list in last year so I wanted to be sure and send in one this year.
I donβt comment much but I love hearing about what everyone else is reading. My reading life is so much better since I found your blog. I had a bit of a reading slump this year and read far less than last year. I had the time to read I just didnβt feel like it.
I tried to narrow down the list as much as possible. This is in no particular order.”
Mists of The SerengetiΒ by Leylah Attar – The writing is beautiful and so descriptive I felt like I was on vacation in Africa.
βThis is what it looks like when you wander somewhere between the sand and stardust, and meet a piece of yourself in someone else.βΒ
Moxie: A NovelΒ by Jennifer Mathieu – Girl Power!
βIt said girls are a revolutionary soul force that can change the world for real.βΒ
An Exaltation of Larks (Venery Book 1)Β by Suanne Laqueur – An epic deeply moving story.
βAmong a thousand other things, she loved Alex for his easy use of we. His willing, unconscious way of taking an oar at the galley of your problem, even if it was just to listen. Even if both of you knew he couldnβt do jack shit to help, he made it about us and made you feel less alone. βΒ Β
The Man I Love (The Fish Tales Book 1)Β by Suanne Laqueur – This book was so intense I havenβt read the rest of the series yet.
(Note from Maryse: Here’s a comment she left us when she read it π : “I just finished The Man I Love. Wow. Iβm at a loss for words. I need chocolate.”)
βShe smiled back at him. Neither of them had said so much as hello yet she was looking at him with those eyes. Deep in the cathedral of his young being, Erik felt a bell toll, a peal of recognition. And for the rest of his life, he would swear, he would swear to anyone who asked, although nothing was said aloud, he heard Daisy Bianco speak to him. She said it with her eyes, he heard it clearly in his head, and it wasnβt hello.
It was, ‘Well, here you are…’
Here I am,Β he thought.β
Wolfsong (Green Creek Book 1)Β by T.J. Klune –Β packpackpack
βItβs always the ones who are the quietest who often have the greatest things to say.βΒ
At Peace (The ‘Burg Series Book 2)Β by Kristen Ashley – Joe! Just Joe!
βWorth the wait,” Joe muttered and my head tipped back.Β
“What?”Β
“Every bit of it. Every day, every week, every year, every fuckin’ second, buddy,” he kept muttering, his eyes intense, his face serious and my breath caught, “this. All of it. Worth the wait.β
Etched in Bone (A Novel of the Others)Β by Anne Bishop – Is there anyone who hasnβt visited the courtyard yet?
βThe map showed human places I’d never heard of – places that had once been great civilizations, until humans forgot the world wasn’t theirs to claim.βΒ
Silence Fallen (A Mercy Thompson Novel)Β by Patricia Briggs – Is there anyone who hasnβt met Mercy yet?
βI’m a mechanic; I fix things that are broken. I turn into a thirty-five pound coyote. I have powerful friends. But when it comes right down to it, my real superpower is chaos.”
The Wall of Winnipeg and MeΒ by Mariana Zapata – The best of slow burn romance. And I do mean sloooow burn.
βHe was lucky I had a tiny, itty, bitty crush on him; otherwise, he would have gotten the shank years ago.βΒ
The Sea King (Weathermages of Mystral Book 2)Β by C.L. Wilson – I love fantasy romance.
βCalbernaβs prince was too big. Too male. Too unsettling. Too appealing. Tooβ¦ everything. And for her, that made Dilys Merimydion pure, deadly poison wrapped up in a dangerously tempting package.β
Liesl & PoΒ by Lauren Oliver – This is a middle grade story about grief, magic, ghosts, and friendship. The hardcover is absolutely gorgeous. It includes beautiful illustrations inside that help the story come to life.
βShe liked the wordΒ ineffableΒ because it meant a feeling so big or vast that it could not be expressed in words.
And yet, because it could not be expressed in words, people had invented a word to express it, and that made Liesl feel hopeful, somehow.βΒ Β
“Wishing everyone a Happy New Year full of 5 star books!”
Wanna know more of Anna’s favorites?Β βΒ Reader Favorites β Annaβs Top 10 Reads for 2015

Ana love the list.
Moxie looks really good.
At Peace was my first KA. Loved Wolfsong and Silence Fallen.

I love seeing the same books I love on your list! I went to order Moxie and guess what? I have it! So, yay me!
I think I might be book opposites with Anna! Hee hee π
I still love seeing what everyone elsed loved. Someday I need to get courage to read Mists. That made almost everyone’s faves.

Haha Robyn. Been there, done that. (not the same book though).
I finally read Mists of Serengeti over Christmas break! It was brilliant. I donβt know why I waited so long.
Well, I read the PNRs except for Liesl and Po.*grins* I can’t believe I haven’t gotten around to reading the cheater’s series by RVD. I love her books (though, of the elite series, I’m stuck on Elude, because, well, you know why! It’s going to require multiple boxes of tissue.
Love your list, Anna! I’m going to try to get caught up on all my PnR/UF series this year, and this makes me want to do it NOW!
And no, I have NOT visited the courtyard, but I definitely have plans to in 2018!
I’ve read seven of these and loved them. I love how varied this list is. Totally my kind of reading!
I’ve read 3 of these, but I have 2 others on my short list, does that count???
Great list Anna, thank you so much for sharing!

Anna, I am quite confident you will love Drive. (and not just because I didnt like it)
I love that your list is multi -genre…I wish my tastes were so varied.
Anna- Is Golden Dynasty the Khal Drogo and Khaleesi type of story? I haven’t read it yet, but if so, I definitely need to!
OMG at last a βJoeβ fan. Heβs my fave! My favorite KA book.
