It’s Anna’s turn!! :D!!!!

She’s been a fellow reader with us for awhile now (since 2015!!), but is one of “quieter” book-buds. 😉 Nonetheless, she joins in every once in awhile (from many of her comments, I see she’s a BIG Rachel Van Dyken fan!!), and she’s sent us this great list!

“Hi Maryse! I realized I never sent my list in last year so I wanted to be sure and send in one this year.

I don’t comment much but I love hearing about what everyone else is reading. My reading life is so much better since I found your blog. I had a bit of a reading slump this year and read far less than last year. I had the time to read I just didn’t feel like it.

I tried to narrow down the list as much as possible. This is in no particular order.”

Mists of The Serengeti by Leylah Attar – The writing is beautiful and so descriptive I felt like I was on vacation in Africa.

“This is what it looks like when you wander somewhere between the sand and stardust, and meet a piece of yourself in someone else.” 

Moxie: A Novel by Jennifer Mathieu – Girl Power!

“It said girls are a revolutionary soul force that can change the world for real.” 

An Exaltation of Larks (Venery Book 1) by Suanne Laqueur – An epic deeply moving story.

“Among a thousand other things, she loved Alex for his easy use of we. His willing, unconscious way of taking an oar at the galley of your problem, even if it was just to listen. Even if both of you knew he couldn’t do jack shit to help, he made it about us and made you feel less alone. ”  

The Man I Love (The Fish Tales Book 1) by Suanne Laqueur – This book was so intense I haven’t read the rest of the series yet.

(Note from Maryse: Here’s a comment she left us when she read it 😉 : “I just finished The Man I Love. Wow. I’m at a loss for words. I need chocolate.”)

At Peace (The ‘Burg Series Book 2) by Kristen Ashley – Joe! Just Joe!

“Worth the wait,” Joe muttered and my head tipped back. 

“What?” 

“Every bit of it. Every day, every week, every year, every fuckin’ second, buddy,” he kept muttering, his eyes intense, his face serious and my breath caught, “this. All of it. Worth the wait.”

Etched in Bone (A Novel of the Others) by Anne Bishop – Is there anyone who hasn’t visited the courtyard yet?

“The map showed human places I’d never heard of – places that had once been great civilizations, until humans forgot the world wasn’t theirs to claim.” 

Silence Fallen (A Mercy Thompson Novel) by Patricia Briggs – Is there anyone who hasn’t met Mercy yet?

“I’m a mechanic; I fix things that are broken. I turn into a thirty-five pound coyote. I have powerful friends. But when it comes right down to it, my real superpower is chaos.”

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata – The best of slow burn romance. And I do mean sloooow burn.

“He was lucky I had a tiny, itty, bitty crush on him; otherwise, he would have gotten the shank years ago.” 

The Sea King (Weathermages of Mystral Book 2) by C.L. Wilson – I love fantasy romance.

“Calberna’s prince was too big. Too male. Too unsettling. Too appealing. Too… everything. And for her, that made Dilys Merimydion pure, deadly poison wrapped up in a dangerously tempting package.”

Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver – This is a middle grade story about grief, magic, ghosts, and friendship. The hardcover is absolutely gorgeous. It includes beautiful illustrations inside that help the story come to life.
