Happy Reader Favorite’s Saturday day!! π Our friend Betty is up next!! She’s been here (at least publicly) since February of 2014 and is right there with us on so many of our favorites, and some of our not-so-favorites, too.
She REALLY went crazy for Tarryn Fisher’s “Love Me With Lies Series” series, and loves a variety of genres, including books like #1 in Lee Child’s “Jack Reacher” series (Killing Floor (Jack Reacher, Book 1)Β and lots of hugely popular paranormals, too! (P.S. Betty… I’ll always be team Jean Claude. π ). Tee hee!!
And now, we get to see her favorite-favorites, ’cause she’s sent over a nice detailed list of her top 10!!
1. After I Do: A NovelΒ by Taylor Jenkins Reid – Maybe because I read it during a particularly interesting time in my marriage, but the little things the author describes really resonated with me.Β In spite of the heavy price tag of this book, I trusted your recommendation and I am SO glad I did.Β This is a beautiful book.Β Is it perfect?Β No, but I’d re-read it anytime.
2.Β Dirty by Megan Hart – Another author recommended by Maryse.Β This was my first book and forever will be my favorite of hers.Β The notion of two strangers meeting, and meeting again, was just mysterious and sensual.Β I’ve enjoyed all of Megan Hart’s books, and love the cameos all the characters make in all books.
3. Halfway to the Grave: A Night Huntress NovelΒ by Jeanine Frost – One word: Bones.Β I can’t tell you how much I love the first four books of this series.Β The male lead is totally swoon worthy, and funny as hell.Β I fell in love.
4.Β Tangled (The Tangled Book 1) by Emma Chase – Written from the male lead’s point of view.Β Very refreshing, very funny, crude and sexy.Β Story was great and it’s a feel great book.
5. Key Of Light: Key TrilogyΒ by Nora Roberts – Her trilogies are awesome, this one is probably my favorite.Β Three strangers brought together, and their lives intertwine to achieve a common goal.Β Great read.
6. Personal Demon (Women of the Otherworld, Book 8) (An Otherworld Novel)Β by Kelley Armstrong – I love her Otherworld series.Β Most people would probably pick Elena and Clay as their favorite couple, but my heart belongs to Karl Marsten.Β Karl is the werewolf that looks and acts like James Bond, and her love interest is Hope, a Bollywood princess lookalike.Β These two just melt my heart every time.
7. Blue Moon: An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter NovelΒ by Laurel K Hamilton – Jean Claude or Richard, that was the question in the early books.Β To me, I’ll always be team Richard.Β This book is where they finally come together and reading it just gives me goose bumps.
8. Silent Blade (Kinsmen Series Book 1)Β by Ilona Andrews – This is a short novella set in a world that this author doesn’t write often.Β I wish they did because it’s excellent.Β Set in the future, it’s a cross between provincial living and highly advanced technology, all centered with a love story.
9.Β Slammed: A Novel by Colleen Hoover – Very refreshing way to write a story that doesn’t contain much sex but very adult topics for two young people.Β This started me on the Colleen Hoover fan girl wagon and I haven’t hopped off yet!
10.Β Frenched (Mia and Lucas) by Melanie Harlow – Another one of Maryse’s great recommendations.Β This is like the perfect book.Β It’s sweet, sexy, no major “OMG I can’t believe it” drama, just very realistic issues two people encounter when they meet in Paris.Β It makes a special connection to me because I too, met my husband on vacation and did the long distance thing for a bit.
Oooooops!! Betty has a a few add-ons!! LOL!
“After I sent the list, I kicked myself for forgetting so many more favorites. I can’t believe I forgot to include Cara McKenna, specificallyΒ Curio, Willing Victim, and so many more. Also Charlotte Stein. I may have to send you my top 11-20 another time. πΒ Another huge omission, theΒ Fever SeriesΒ by KMM!”
10 is just not enough! π
Great list.
I loved Karl and Hope. They definitely had the romance. I’m with Maryse and a JC fan……or was. Even so, I was terribly disappointed with the turn Richard’s character took. Didn’t fit for me.
I used to gobble up Roberts, especially her trilogies.:-)
I only haven’t read 1, 4, 8, Charlotte Stein and 10. I love your list majorly. It’s a little funky with pure heart. I honestly never read that Ilona Andrews. (guess what I plan to buy?)
6. OMG, I adored Karl and Hope too! They were my favorite from the moment I read them. I love Paige and Lucas’s story because whenever it’s their stories, it advances everyone’s story, but Karl and Hope were the pure romantic couple. *grins*
7. Yes! Just yes! That was the pinacle of all the Anita Books. Hot, Richard wasn’t being weak, Jean Claude was still there. Ugh, but sorry. I’m a Jean Claude fan too. Richard couldn’t handle reality, and that made me start to hate him. π
4. I thought it was me about the four. I still have to read six. I love the series, but am a little lost.
*big smile* so much PNR. Makes me feel nostalgic for the years when that was all I read. I need to pick up the latest books in some of these series that I haven’t gotten to yet.
Great list Betty…has a few Ive loved too and many I don’t know but will be checking out. Cheers.
I think I’ll have to check out the Anita Blake series!!! Great list Betty!!
Another fantastic list! Niki, love Anita Blake, but it’s frustrating! I WAS a Richard fan . . . !
I’ve only read 1, 4, 9 and 10 from your list Betty! Lots of new ones for me to check out! Thank you!
Great list- I’ve read many. I also listened to Tangled, which was even more hilarious that way!! π
Thanks everyone for your comments! Most of the books that made a huge impact on me were PR books from early on. I have fell in love with so many more books since then. I’ve moved away from the PR genre, but still have a few favorites I still read. But yeah, if asked to give top 10 books, most of them will be PR books!
Makes my heart soar to see so many other folks also love the same books I do. π
