It is Saturday (Reader Favorites Day!!!) and it’s fabulous Fabi’s turn!!! Fabi’s been with us for… 106 pages worth of her comments alone!!! 😛 *squeeee!!* I decided that counts as “she’s been with us forever” (YAY FABI!!!! :D) and I wasn’t gonna scroll back that many pages to find her first dated comment. Wanna know more about Fabi and and what has her, when it comes to books? She once told us:
Book triggers, hmmm, I can’t really pin it down. I know I’m partial to younger characters, especially if they’re fighting against a dystopian world and there’s a little romance thrown in. So when I read a blurb with those elements, its an automatic 1 click. But there are many others too.
Music, that’s another trigger for me. Give a character that plays guitar/sings and I’m likely to read the book. Same goes for soccer/football/basketball athlete characters. And dont even get me started on sci-fi. Ah, so many triggers. Probably why my reading is all over the place and I end up missing as many great books as I find.
Plus! She’s big on everything we love but also EXTREMELY well versed in all genres! From historical romances, classics and urban fantasies, to sci-fi, M/M romance, and dystopian. All sorts of great stuff! I think ANYONE that loves a a great story (love and all!) will relate to Fabi’s favorites! 😀

Before anything else, I have to comment on Unwind…holy sh!t, that book messed with me, and not in the usual way that I love. I mean, I really, really liked it, but as if the subject itself isn’t shocking enough he then had to throw in a scene that was so f%&#ing horrifying (yes, it warrants that language) that I still have a physical reaction to it…a literal physical reaction. And the most brilliant part is that the scene is not graphic or gory. Fabi, I KNOW you know what part I’m talking about.
Let’s see…I’ve read 4 (of course!), 5, 12, 13, 21 and 22. What’s great is to see so many “classics” on Fabi’s list. I love these readers’ favorites lists…our lovely ladies’ favorite reads condensed for us in one spot!!
Maryse, did you see Jean’s comment on After? One of these days you’re going to have to take our word for it and read it. It would appeal to Dark Maryse. 😉

Warded Man was seriously good, and I read it because Fabi recommended it. I’m on Desert Spear, and as I read, I’m totally cheating and reading the character I like, but it’s a slower read. (Once on page 188, it’ll soar! I know, I read that part! 😛 )

I just got this past week at the library Red Rising. I also bought Maze Runner and *hides before whispering* Surviving Raine, but haven’t read them yet. Also a bunch I’ve not really noticed. *grins* Which is fun.
Fabi’s list is Fabulous!!! But the best part is that I will be reading a book and think, “ooh, I bet Fabi would like this” because her personality shines through in all her posts.
I’ve read 1,2, 4, 8 (of course! my fellow soccer fanatic), 12, 17, 21 and 24. So that’s only a third of this list…. time to copy and paste and get to reading some of these. Been eyeing Hominids for SO LONG.

LOVE this list Fabi! You know I enjoy a good dystopian or scifi change of pace. 1 I’m still working my way to but I did read a couple other Krylov works. 3, 13, 14 I bought from your recs and need to read them soon! Red Rising (would be on my top list – amazinnnggggg), 2, 4, 5, 8, 12, 18, 21, 23 are all favorites for me as well. Am I the only one that liked the Infernal Devices more though – that one is in my top list. 10 I’ve been eyeing since you mentioned it and now Tessa liked it too, oh boy that series could blow my budget!

Maryse, Uglies stayed with me. Really stayed with me. Hope you try it. It’s a world of artificially created beautiful people. The story of a girl who may want to remain “ugly” to keep her independence. But how do you buck world order and survive? I read it years and years ago and remember it like it was yesterday.

Fabi Yeh!!!! Your list is so different from what I gravitate towards and that’s what I love about these reader favorites lists. I share your love of sports and rock star stories, but really need to branch out and try some of the dystopian/sci-fi one’s you loved. I’ve read, 2, 4, 8, 9, 21, and 22.
Had to laugh when I saw Ender’s Game, I think of it everyday. My son who read the books, went to see the movie with his Dad. They came home with the movie theatre display. Not your normal, small stand-up display, no this one is huge and lights up and the inside rotates! They had to take it apart at the theatre and then put it back together in his room!!!

Jean, if you’re going to try dystopian for the first time, knowing you prefer romance and a bit or more of angst, I’d say try Uglies along with Maryse. 🙂

Fabi great list. If you loved TRY you should read The Locker Room by Amy Lane. Basketball, MM and it will rip your heart out. Also Beneath The Stain by Amy Lane. Rock star, MM and again a heart smasher.

I didn’t know about this author until your list so thank you Fabi!! I know they were written in 1978 (before I was even born lol) but I love a great HR and these seem to fit the bill! I can’t wait to read them and share my thoughts with you! *big hugs*
Also, if you like PNR, her’s was the first I read that told myths as a story.
*cough, cough* I think I read them for the first time shortly after they were published. I remember waiting for the next book in the series to be published. I use the term series loosely. All except maybe the first two read as stand alone novels. Man, I used to gobble these up as a teenager.

Fabi! I’m reading Kulti! Love it! I’m only 10% in but I love Sal, her friend Jenny, and oh my gosh her Dad!!! This is great so far! Kulti is just a broody jerk right now, not saying much but yeah I’m excited to see his first interaction with Sal. Her “poop” thoughts are cracking me up!

Yeah Amy I read all of them. I can’t honestly remember where the first one ends but I can tell you they get wilder and wilder. Talk about the gut wrenching scenarios. This series has many of them.
The first left off when all of those “recipients” were brought together under, um, *surprising* circumstances and one of the MC’s had been injured but turned down a transplant because…yeah, that would be wrong considering where it would come from. *shudder*
How crazy…I’m having all these flashes of the different stories and circumstances of the kids who were supposed to or had been “unwound” and oh man, it’s making my heart hurt all over again! I might just have to finish up that series after all.

Yes, I AM scared!! That scene was traumatizing, and the thought of more of the same is just scary. Also, maybe it’s because it is tweens and teens who are unwound that makes it so difficult. But it was really good so I’m sure it would be worth it. 😉

I loved the Tristan and Danika series. Dark and dangerous.
