Wow!!! Last’s week’s “low-angst” favorites list was so popular, that I’m thrilled to say the theme will go on! ‘Cause Jan just sent us her list too.
YAY US!! We have more to choose from!
Jan: Oh thank you for sharing this list Melinda and Maryse. Just my style of books π Iβm not a mass fan of ones that are too angsty β I get too sucked in and too upset. And I havenβt read all of these ones so thereβs some I need to check out STAT! Sweet!
Iβm trying to think of favs of mine you could add to that list.
KultiΒ by Mariana Zapata <—Β I LOVED Kulti and Wall of Winni. Kulti is one of my fav ever books!
The Wall of Winnipeg and MeΒ by Mariana Zapata <—Β Wall of Winnipeg was great too.
Beautiful Player (The Beautiful Series Book 5)Β by Christina Lauren <—Β BEAUTIFUL PLAYER. I LOVE that book. Will Sumner is MINE. Heβs MINE, I tell you. *cackles madly like a crazy woman*
See Jane Score (Chinooks Hockey Team Book 2)Β by Rachel Gibson <—Β an oldie but still goodie from Rachel Gibson. …(recently mentioned on the sports romance list) is another sweet romance with some very funny, laugh out loud moments. …itβs a very sweet and funny romance about a female journalist who has to write stories about a hockey team, who arenβt very welcoming to her. But then Jane and the hot goalie get to know each other a bit better, ahem.
SustainedΒ by Emma Chase <—Β Sustained is a great read. I loved it (and you know how picky I am.) …Funny, sweet and hot. The kids are cute and so real too.
Truly: A New York Novel (The New York Trilogy Series Book 1)Β by Ruthie Knox <—Β A meet-cute in a New York bar when May is down and desperate. Ben and May are so great together in this book. I think Iβve mentioned Iβm rereading this one cos the next one in the trilogy is due out soon. Itβs a lovely, slightly different CR with not too much angst (for all you angst-haters like me). …Itβs a lovely book.
J.C. and the Bijoux Jolis: The Rousseaus #3 (The Blueberry Lane Series)Β by Katy Regnery β I loved that one. …The last book that came out in the series was a terrific book, IMO the best one by far, so maybe this one will be as good.Β Β It was called JC and The Bijoux Jolis and it was a really great frenemies read about a very unlikely couple who finally find each other β the eternal player meets the savvy, smart girl whoβs totally not his type. At first they HATE each other, but then they fall for each other, hard. Thereβs also a nice art/painting mystery in the story. Iβve just been rereading it, which is what made me go look up Katy Regnery and I found the new book. Ah, Jean-Christian, mon amour. Sighβ¦β¦β¦..Β Β It works fine as a standalone.
Hollywood Dirt: Movie EditionΒ by Alessandra Torre <— One of the better books about a Hollywood star IMO. He meets his match in a lovely Southern gal. (This one is gonna be a movie soon, I think!)
Play (Stage Dive Series Book 2)Β by Kylie Scott <— Sweet and funny rock star romance. Mal is hilarious and gorgeous.
Wrecking Ball (Hard To Love Book 1)Β by P. Dangelico <— Lovely slow-burn romance. …have read Wrecking Ball on DGβs rec. And yes, I REALLY LIKED IT!! It IS like Wall of Winnipeg in lots of ways. Slooowww burn with a slightly enigmatic, hot footballer H. The h is different from WoW, but the setup is kinda the same. Although in this case sheβs tutoring his nephew rather than being his PA. Different back stories etc, but it has a similar flavour. They HATE each other at firstβ¦β¦Β Β The bookβs really good and I second your rec DG. Thanks. Iβd never even heard of this author before. She writes well.
The Chocolate Touch (Amour et Chocolat Book 4)Β by Laura Florand <— Oh Dominique, Iβm in love with youβ¦β¦ I like her other series as well β La Vie en Roses. There is a new book out in that series thatβs sitting at the top of my tbr π
Wrong (Wrong Series Book 1)Β by Jana Aston <— Cute, sweet, funny. A student falls in love with an older guy, her gynaecologist! But it turns out they fit together really well.
First Lady (Wynette, Texas Book 4)Β by Susan Elizabeth Phillips <— A few years old now, but a great read. The widow of the President goes on a crazy, secret road trip to escape her life, and finds love along the way. I liked this one.
Jan: OK, I could probably go on and on, but Iβm stopping now. But these are my kinda books. Iβd love to hear more suggestions.
*skips away to check out Melindaβs recs*
Note to self: try Laura Florand books soon!!
Although I like to dip my feet in the Marmy pool sometimes, I have read hundreds of easy-breezey CRs and love them. Seeing Susan Elizabeth Phillips & Rachel Gibson on this list reminds me of authors I loved when I first got into CR. For anyone who likes these types of books from a few years back, I would also suggest the following authors:
Robyn Carr
Toni Blake
Jill Shalvis
Victoria Dahl
Susan Mallory
Bella Andre
Carly Phillips
Kristan Higgins
Julie James
Susan Donovan
Jaci Burton
Susan Andersen
I love quite a lot on this list, especially Kulti and Sustained. I’ve got to read Wrong.
First Lady! You know, I’ve been trying to remember that book for years. All I could remember was how it ended and who the author was. Yes, it was great. Anything by her is great. π
I really liked What I did for Love and The Great Escape by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.
Yeah The Great Escape is a kind of follow-up to First Lady too.
Love your list Leslie. I’ve read some but not all of those writers. I used to really like Jaci Burton’s Play-by-Play series of loosely connected sports romances. I liked the early ones better but I’ve read ’em all except the new one, but it’s on my tbr π I might check out some of those authors I haven’t tried yet. Thanks for sharing. And yes! Try Laura Florand. IMO the first book in the Chocolate series isn’t the best one, so don’t get too put off if you read that first. I LOVE some of those books. Super hot French guys, Paris, chocolate……. what’s not to love?
How did I miss Melinda’s list last week?? I have read most of her’s and just about all of the books on Jan’s list. Low-angst, CR stories are probably what I read the most. Now I have a few more to add to my tbr!! π
Great list Jan. Lots of my favourite books here.
I feel like Jan is my soul sister!! Most of those are books that I have LOVED and have re-read a couple of time (read: 10 times)
*hugs Chante* π
Right now am reading Scandalous and am hooked. I really liked Viscious but didn’t read the next 2 in the series. But don’t care. Am in love right now with Trent.
First off, so glad you enjoyed Wrecking Ball as much as I did! Yay!
Have you read A Veil of Vines by Tillie Cole or The Ending I Want by Samantha Towle? Both are amazing and low angst. I must say that you might want to brush your teeth and floss afterwards because these guys are seriously sweet!
Haha. No, I haven’t, DG. I’ll have my toothbrush at the ready!
