Ohhhh you guys look who’s up next in Saturday’s “Reader Favorites” list!!! Marit! My fellow-squeeeeeer!!! I just LOVE her love of books. When she finds one she loves, she is SO enthusiastic! Ecstatic, even!
Okay let’s take a book-look into “Marit”. Here are a few things about her, and some memorable quotes! π
- She’s been with us since 2013!
- She’s European!
“Iβm from Norway”
- Do you know how they celebrate Easter in Norway? Tee hee!!! We all got a kick out of this tidbit:
“Do you celebrate easter in the US? In Europe we do and Itβs right around the corner! In the easter people go to their cabins in the mountains or woods and read enigmatic thrillers while they eat easter eggs filled with candy. We would love for you to write us a reading guide with scary books!”
- She’s just like us looking for that “book-rush”
“I havenβt got this feeling since FSG! So I would really recommend you to read The Afterlife saga. Iβm always chasing THAT feeling when I start reading new books.”
- She’s part of our “peanut gallery”
“I totally understand the feeling when a book is SO good and you want the whole world to read it. Letβs throw some peanuts! π “
- About her own love story?
“You will not believe this, but we did it in all secret. Nobody knew and then we postet a picture on Facebook and said β Just got marriedβΒ Β Haha! We didnβt want a big wedding with lots of attention and stuff, so we did it very simple.”
- Okay and… I haven’t even read her Top Favorites list yet, and I just bet #1 will be “The Afterlife Saga” She has read and re-read this one and I love how much she can’t stop gushing!Β <— She is as voracious about “the Draven” as I am about “the Travis”. LOL!!!!!!!!
“I have just started The Afterlife saga again, and I cannot stop LOVING the Dravens π Just saying..<3 I’m still looking for books in the same league.”
Okay. This is not easy, but it’s a perfect opportunity to look back at all the books I have read and pick out someone who gave me something special.
I am very weak for protective men in a uniform! π (doctors, firefighters, police officers, Special Force etc.) *Squeeeee* And fragile heroines who have a strong personality π Okay ladies. Here is my list:
1. Twilight SagaΒ by Stephanie Meyer. This is a classic and I was obsessed with this series. I’m also weak for the cold ones (read: vampires)
2. Fifty Shades of GreyΒ by E.L James. Aaaaah, I love it! All three books. Christian Grey in my heart. This one opened up a whole new world for me. I wanted more and found Maryse’s blog π
3. Afterlife SagaΒ by Stephanie Hudson. This is a paranormal series. It has a strong female heroine and a sexy alpha male that I cannot get enough of! He’s a scary beast but so weak for the heroine. I love stories like this. And I also love when it’s more than a love story. Things that are going on around the main characters. Not just love π
4. Rook and Ronin SeriesΒ by J.A. Huss. I have read this series twice. God, I loved it. The characters are awesome, the story is refreshing and it just sucks you in. I love it when there is friendship and love in a book. One of my favourite series!!
5. King’sΒ by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. This book took me by surprice! It was not what I expected and I didn’t know that it was paranormal. The story was one twisted roller coaster ride and KING was a scary and mysterious guy. So unpredictable. I recommend the whole trilogy.
6. Release MeΒ (The Stark Trilogy) by J. Kenner. This book drew me in. The heroine is hiding something from the hero, and I love secrets π It captivated me and I remember the book well. It’s a long time since I read it, but I can’t forget this book. The whole series is good.
7.Β Checked by Jennifer Jamelli. This one is special. It iluminated an area I know nothing about. It put so many different emotions in me and I thought I was going crazy at times. Our mind is deep and this book shows us that π
8. Archer’s VoiceΒ by Mia Sheridan. This is a beautiful story that makes me warm on the inside. The book shows us the beauty and importance of kindness and showing other people human dignity. I will never forget how this book made me feel.
9.Β King by T.M Frazier. This is the best book I have read this year (so far). I could not put it down. I adore the fragile heroine and the way she’s making a stone hard guy, soft. I have not read book 2 yet, but I will π
10. Naked: The Blackstone Affair, Book 1Β by Raine Miller. I almost always love book one best in a trilogy. When the characters are getting in touch and everything is new in the story. I love the way the hero is protecting the heroine in this book. He’s a security guy and have to protect her from danger. Oooh, I love that π
This is quite a list! I really want to give King’s and King a go!
I’ve read a few on your list Marit- 2,8,9,10. Love your descriptions about each book! π
Marit love your list and synopsis of each of your favorites!! Gives us an insight as to why and what you look for in your reads!! And when I find an avid reader with the same commonality I just want to hug you and do a happy dance!!! I’ve read 1,2,6,8 and 10 and have 3,4,5 and 9 on my tbr list!! Afterlife saga??!! Just bumped that baby up!!! Thanks Marit and Maryse!!
:D!!!
It’s a great list, isn’t it?
Hi Marit, that is a good list. I have read some of them. King’s was enjoyable, but I felt like a lot of things did not make sense at the end. I did enjoyed the Stark Trilogy by J. Kenner, and loved The Blackstone Series by Raine Miller. Just in case that you are interested, The Passion of Darius is another Raine Miller book worth reading that gives you a look into the past of the area where Brynne and Ethan end up living.
Marit! Great list!!! I am adding Afterlife saga to my tbr right now. I think I’ve read most of the others but ALS got away from me. Thanks for the rec.
I’ve read everything on your list but Release Me….a girl after my own heart! I also have an obsession with Draven from Afterlife. That guy just sizzles!
I also really loved the Checked books. I never realized OCD was that big of a problem until I read these books. I also thought the love story intertwined was wonderfully done. I might have to go reread! Eeek!
I just finished the Rook and Ronin series after having it on my Kindle for ages! Gave me heart palpitations it was so good. Plus I love F***ing Ford! Hehe! Great List!
Great list Merit! Anyone who loves Twilight and Fifty Shades as much as I do, are book kindred spirits! I actually have most of these on my tbr, bumping them up! I love being reminded about amazing books that I own, but haven’t got to yet, they just get lost amongst hundreds. King, Kings and Afterlife look very tempting!! I also have the Rook & Ronins, and Blackstones, haha!
Marit just a side note regarding King. Book 2 Tyrant is a must!! Just as great if not better than King!! You are in for awesomeness!!!
Great list, marit. I have a few of these in my tbr, like Checked, I’ll have to move up. I’ll have to check out this Draven.:-)
OMG, I’ve read quite a few. There are only four I haven’t. Archer’s Voice *ducks the peanuts*, Afterlife, but I must have gotten it like five times in KU, and returned it, unsure, King MC book, which I own and just haven’t read it yet, and Checked. I love this list.
Great list Marit! I have read more from your list, than most of the lists so far, and enjoyed them…so I may take a gander and go for the rest!
Thank you, as always, Maryse for all the work you do. And Marit for a wonderful list!
Great list Marit. I’ve read a few…King/Tyrant (you must read the second book)…Archer Voice, 50 and Twilight, but there are many I don’t know and will be looking out for. Rook and Ronin I just got as a bargin bundle….moving it up my tbr list.
Thank you.

Maryse. Thank you so much for this post! Haha, it made me smile big time π Reader Favorite is awesome! Don’t you dare giving up this blog, ever! π Then I will come to the states and hug some sense in to you π And I will take with me all of the guys in here.
4 – 6 – 10 are the only ones I haven’t also read. So more to add to my ever-growing list.
I loved King’s – so original and I had no clue WHAT he was, just that he was something MORE, you know? Totally kept me interested.
And Checked and Checked Again – so sweet and funny and touching. Her OCD was fascinating. Highly recommend that one too!
Tessa!!! Archer’s Voice is just THAT BOOK you’ll never forget. Seriously. That’s why it keeps showing up over and over. How many stand alones make these lists? It’s usually series that we love and remember.
While I read Afterlife, I didn’t finish the series. Need to go back to that.
I’m glad that you have read most of these, MichelleS π King’s kept surprising me as well! I never knew what to expect next.
Archer’s Voice is so special. I will never forget it. A MUST read π
Great list Marit! Haven’t read 3,6,7,10. Afterlife is KU so I’m all over that! I might even try it out next. Excited to find a new PNR that I haven’t read π
Thanks Michelle! π Afterlife is soooooo good. Please give us some Squeee-sceams if you like it π
Michelle, I loved Release Me. That was the BDSM series I think I liked the most second only to RK Lilley’s Up In the Air. The emotion is just there, and it makes sense. They were utterly romantic.
I know, Archer’s Voice. I keep trying, but get bored. *ducks*
I love your list Marit! No one ever mentions The Blackstone Affair or the Stark trilogy and I loved them too! I’ve read many on your list but also have some of them downloaded.
Afterlife Saga…..I’m intrigued and all over that!
Awesome list!!! I too have read many of these. Just FYI…the first books in the Rook and Ronin series and Kings was free!!! Now on my TBR. Thanks for the great recs. Afterlife may be on there next!! Thanks again.
Thanks Jean. I’m so glad you liked it π Ooooh, you are so lucky who have not read Afterlife yet π Let me know what you think of it.
Theresa!!! Thank you! It’s awesome that they’re free now. Thanks for letting us know π Enjoy the ride. They are so good.
Marit, what a fabulous reading list:). Afterlife Saga is one of the BEST series I have read in a very long time. I wish Stephanie Hudson would release the rest of the books soon. I cannot wait to read how it all ends:).
Elane! Oh, I’m so happy to have an Afterlife sister in here π It’s sooooo good. I can’t wait for the next one. Let’s hope it will get released right before christmas. That’s my wish π
I am so with you Marit :). Fingers crossed.
My criteria for an all-time favorite book is that the story stays with me after I have finished reading the book (without having to read it again). I have read so many books over the years and am sad to say that many of them I don’t remember the story unless I start reading the book again. I have to say that I love your list and all but 3 (3, 5, and 9) I have read and have fond memories of – I few of them I have read multiple times (twilight, FSOG, and the Stark novels. I now have added the 3 that I have not read to my amazon wish list.
That is a great criteria Becky, and I’m right there with you. If I can still remember most of the pertinent details (and better yet, with enthusiasm)? THAT was an awesome book.
In fact, I gave one book I think… 3.75 or 4 stars last year? “You” by Caroline Kepnes, and yet this year, I can tell you all of the details, the story, how crazy it was, and I think back on it with creepy fondness and I wonder… maybe I should have given it 5 stars? LOL! It was great!!
What a wonderful list, Marit! I have read and loved all except the Afterlife books. I just one-clicked the first book and looking forward to reading. Thank you for the rec!
Becky, I’m right with you on that! The books we remember are good ones π I’m so glad you like my list! Oooooh, I can’t wait for you to read Afterlife, and the King(s) π They will hopefully stay in your mind forever. You have to let me know what you think π
Aaaaaaah, Jamie!!! π Thank you. Enjoy the Afterlife ride. I hope you will LOVE it! Please scream out a comment about it. I love to hear about those books.
