MichelleS has had a rough year, but she’s here again, and we’re thrilled!!! And despite the stress and focus issues, she’s put together her favorites list for us. 😀
Here are some MichelleS 2020 comment highlights:
I have several little voodoo doll keepsakes from vacations. They’re just too cute. But, yeah, try explaining that at a doctor’s office. LOL.
I use scissors to cut up green onions (after washing) right on top of what I need, or in what I need.
I adore Stevie Nicks, so a good rock and roll story that has the same “feeling” as all that Fleetwood Mac drama might be worth a look.
So far, so good on my “buddy plant” that I ran out and got at Wal Mart after Maryse’s post. But I’m afraid to re-pot it. That’s when I lose them. So it’s sitting in its original container, inside a pretty pot. As far as care goes… I always use Miracle Grow sticks. You just stick them in the dirt, and forget about them. Seem to work!
Howdy y’all. Hope you are all well and staying home. I have officially not been out of the house for 15 days. I stocked up, and have been hunkering down. If I get it now, it’s someone else’s fault (I;m taking to you, hubby). Work has been exhausting. My school district decided to go full on eLearning on day one back from Spring Break. I’m pooped. Hardly had time to read.
And now… her 2020 favorites!
Well howdy from Texas y’all!
Three things:
1.) I am ALIVE and have survived 2020 and Covid. It was a CRAZY year (changed jobs and so so much more).
2.) My taste in books hasn’t changed one bit. I still love Epic Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal, Historical Romance, and then I like to throw in others just for fun.
3.) I have missed you all terribly. I feel horrible for having stayed away for so long. I will try to “catch myself up”. I just want to know that all my book buddies have survived 2020. Mark yourselves safe!
I saw my best of 2019 list and it inspired me to make a best of 2020 list. I read a lot of books, but these are the ones I remember:
The Life You Stole Books 1 & 2 by Jewel E Ann <— Jewel E Ann has become a one-click author for me. I have loved everything she writes.
MichelleS: Finished The Life That Mattered, by Jewel E Ann, late last night. 5 stars!! Thank god the follow up releases this week. I love everything she writes. I am in love with Ronin Alexander. I have a dozen ideas where this might go, and I’m sure I’m wrong on all counts! This is probably a good time to throw some peanuts… Maryse…. read Jack and Jill series. You will NOT be disappointed.
House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City Book 1) by Sarah J. Maas <— Sarah J Maas is a favorite of mine. I love this new series as much as her others. She just really delivers for fans of fantasy.
MichelleS: Love her writing. Two of my favorite series EVER. Kick ass heroines, strong secondary characters, plot twists. And it’s over 800 pages. I’m a happy camper.
The Magicsmith series (3 books) by LR Braden <— So much to love here if you are a fan of urban fantasy.
MichelleS: The Magicsmith Series, by LR Braden. 3 books so far. Gobbled them up. So much like Mercy Thompson. Seriously!! You will not be disappointed.
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah <— Wanted to read this based on feedback from others. It didn’t disappoint. I still remember it, and that’s always a good thing. I don’t read that much contemporary or women’s fiction, but this was a good one.
Smoke Bitten by Patricia Briggs (Mercedes Thompson Book 12) <— When is Mercy not going to make my list? Hopefully never. This series is still going strong. My all time favorite Urban Fantasy series.
Golden Eagle (Sons of Rome 4) by Lauren Gilley <— This is such a great series. If you love paranormal, you have got to read this series. The characters, the writing… just wow.
From Blood & Ash and A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout and Wicked Trilogy by Jennifer Armentrout <— I needed A LOT of fantasy to get through 2020. Ms Armentrout always delivers.
The Atlantis World (Origins Mystery) by AG Riddle <— This has been on my TBR list for so long. With all out “down time’ in 2020, I decided to get to it. I read the first two in the trilogy. I WILL read the last book. It is just a commitment.
Brothersong by TJ Klune <— Yay! TJ Klune and revisiting the Bennets…. So it was great for me. Nothing will come close to Wolfsong for me, but I love where the story went and revisiting old friends.
Hell Theory 1 and 2 by Lauren Gilley <— This woman can write. I am such a huge fan. One click.
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens <— Every year I have that ONE BOOK that everyone has read (but me) and I finally get around to it late in the year. This was it. It was soooooo good. It reminds me that I need to get out of my comfort zone more often.

Smoke Bitten was so good. I loved TJ Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea.
I have two fantasy books that seems to be on so many favorites lists that I’m determined to get to this week or next week. They’re A Heart of Blood and Ashes and A Touch of Stone and Snow by Milla Vane.
