Nancy has been with me from the very start. Years and years of hanging out and reading with me, on Facebook, and commenting (since 2011) right here on the blog. I feel like I’ve known Nancy forever!
She says:
“I laugh because I found your book Blog right after joining FB, & you had close to 700 “likes” & I thought she is “SO POPULAR”. I joined in & you were going on & on about “Fifty Shades” (I had never heard of & not many others had either)…”
She always finds us book deals, and comments weekly with her own recommendations. Such a supportive and fun friend!
Here’s a little bit about her book preferences:
“I can take the forbidden, fractured souls, damaged and broken, recluse scarred physically & mentally, tortured minds & bodies, but I can not stand a cliffhanger or no HEA.”
“I prefer reading a whole book then having it piece meal.”
“My favorite books are with mismatched odd couples that you never see how it will work.”
And now for her Top 15 for 2015:
“It is impossible for me to write short lists for favorite books, but 2015 has been special for books so I am going to try. Now these are not in any order of favorite, but by month.”
1) The Five Stages of Falling in Love by Rachael Higginson. This was a gift from Kandace and one of the many reasons we all love her.
2) Fisher’s Light by Tara Sivec. Troubled hero home from war and the women that loves him enough to save him (sigh).
3) Never Let You Go (a modern fairytale) by Katy Regnery. This author just gets better & better. I thought The Vixen and the Vet was tops, but this book is tied, if not better. …I can’t say enough about Katy’s writing. If I’m going to review one of her books, then I take careful notes, but I highlight so much, because she has a way with words that I might as well highlight the entire book.
4) Darker Water (Once and Forever Book 1) By Lauren Stewart. This was so good and made me laugh, cry and feel all emotions.
5) The Ground Rules (Book 1) (The Rule Breakers Series) by Roya Carmen. Another gift from Kandace and is it any wonder we love that girl.
6) Fearless: The Complete Novel (Dartmoor Book 1) by Lauren Gilley OK, Kandace recommended, but I actually bought this one. Love that lady! …The story is good, the writing is good & Mercy, Mercy, Mercy!
7) Souls Unfractured (Hades Hangmen) (Volume 3) by Tillie Cole This is the best of the series. Two broken souls find love!
8) Heart-Shaped Hack: Kate and Ian #1 By Tracey Garvis Graves. I adored the writing and this was one of my most favorite of the year for sure.
9) Cocky Bastard by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland Another joy of a book to read.
10) Transcending Darkness by Airicka Phoenix. This is a complete novel of 506 pages.
11) The Air He Breathes (Elements) by Brittainy C. Cherry. Two broken souls find comfort in each other!
12) Dirty English by Ilsa Madden-Mills. A very good read!
13) Commodity by Shay Savage
14) Reaper’s Fall (Reapers Motorcycle Club Book 5) by Joanna Wylde. This is Painter’s story and long awaited.
15) This is a list of all my new Indie authors that I have found and loved:
*Pure Abandon & Reckless Abandon by Jeannine Colette
*Unwritten & Rewritten (Unwritten Book 2) by Lauren Runow
I love when I read these lists and I find that I have already purchased some of these books and they are just sitting in my Kindle waiting for a chance to be read. It is like “Yes!” I definitely agree with you about “The Air He Breathes.” as being one of the best books I read this year.
You have so many of my TBRs as favorites, it makes my eyes widen. I loved Dirty English. It was just fun and made me happy reading it.
Darker Water had that great quick witted banter, love that. Wish more books had dialogue like that.
I keep seeing Cocky Bastard pop up. I’m going to have to try it sooner or later.
A few new to me on here which is always great.
Nancy your list and taste in reading mirrors mine. Love the Dartmoor series, Hades Hangman series, Cocky Bastard, The Air He Breathes, Heart Shaped Hack, etc. You get the idea!! ALL so good. I have a recommendation for you if you haven’t already read it is the Signal Bend series. Like all your favorites this series will stay with you. Thank you.
I’m going to have to give Cocky Bastard and Transcending Darkness a try. I love this list. Happy birthday week, Nancy!
Happy birthday week Nancy!!! 😀
AHHH! So glad you loved Jeannine and Lauren! They are a blast to work with!
Hi Nancy,
I’ve only read Cocky Bastard and Commodity from your favs list. Most are probably too heavy for me, but I have Heart Shaped Hack on my tbr and I’m interested in Dirty English.
Thank you for sharing your favorites.
Omg Nancy! So many on your list are favs of mine! So many, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11! If you loved the same, I’ll definitely have to check out the others on your list!
I just read never Let You Go. I won’t forget it, that’s for sure. Very cool retelling of Hansel and Gretel – what if two kids got “taken” and then formed a bond? Yup. Pretty cool.
Dartmoor series may very well be my new favorite MC series. I have read them ALL and love this writer. I did like Mercy the best for the male leads, though (that occasional French sweet talking, yummy).
Love this list. Huge fan of Reaper’s MC books too.
I need to read Katy Regnery’s series… I love how it’s about various takes on fairytales.
So many of my favorites here Nancy plus a few on my tbr list. Wonderful overview of what turned out to be a good book year for many of us.
Thank you for sharing.
Several of my favs on your list Nancy – loved, loved The Air He Breathes – it stuck with me way after I was done reading it!!! Also, give me a good MC book anyday…something about those bikes….*humming*. Tillie Cole is one of my fav authors – not sure if you have read her Sweet Home series yet but it is good as well….some Bama football on the side (WDE).
Read most of this list and a good list it is too! But how the hell did I miss Reapers Fall (painters storey) so I’v just one clicked! That’s my Friday night sorted!
Lovvvv these lists!
Love your list Nancy! Dirty English sounds so good! And its inspired by Pride and Prejudice? Count me in!
Great list Nancy. Somany of my favs are on your list too!!
