Reader Question – Sonia is looking for books with the "Sweet Gum Tree" feel…

Sonia is looking for anguish, heartache, slow-burning, love stories. Reunited and it feels so good… 😉

She asks:

Hi Maryse.

It’s me again.  I’m looking for a book that has a couple that reunited.

A book like  The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred But not the exact same. Like this book is like one with 100% love & anguish feels to it .
I liked the Sweet Gum Tree because of the character development.  Slow romance but not too slow. The love between the characters.

The anguish, abuse Nick faced then the anguish Alix faced later on, the sacrifice Nick did… the separation. Then Nick groveling or more asking for forgiveness.

I know there is book like this book with a similar storyline to the point that some folk say maybe that author copied thus book. But I don’t want a book with the exact same storyline.

I don’t mind if it’s dark but I don’t want young adult recommendations please.

Maryse: I have another one!!! The Mason List: A Coming of Age Love Story by S.D. Hendrickson!!! Oh I forgot how much I loved that one a few years ago and it is PERFECT for this list!!!! In fact I say so in my review.

Brianna: I recently read Swear on This Life: A Novel by Renee Carlino, and it reminded me a bit of The Sweet Gum Tree (one of my favorite books).

Sonia: Books I’ve read that although isn’t young romance. Meaning the couple hasn’t met when they were children like sweet gum tree. But in this list there are books were the couple reunite. Where they are so in love and the anguish level match sweet gum tree book. They are slow burn. I just wanted to suggest some books back since everyone being so helpful.

• In the Stillness by Andrea Randall.
• Pulled by A.L Jackson more like sweet gum tree. The couple break up due to major misunderstanding and secret. I’d say to the same level as Don’t let go by Sharla Lovelace.
• When We Collide by A.L Jackson.
• Take this Regret (The Regret Series Book 2) by A.L Jackson.
• Worth The Wait (A McKinney/Walker Novel Book 1) by Claudia Conner.
