Gin is in the mood to read a very specific trope (historical OR modern is fine). I can’t think of anything off the top of my head to recommend her in that regards? I’m not a huge historical romance reader, but I’m sure there are plenty in that genre…
I have read (and love) opposites attract/wrong side of the tracks books (a few where the hero is homeless that I LOVED), but I can’t think of any where he’s a slave…
On my “What are you in the mood to read” page, she tells us:
H is slave and h falls in love with him – historical or modern but not “American confederate” slavery
Do you have any recommendations for her (and us)?
Maryse: Okay!! I just though of TWO!!! I’m gonna say Acheron: A Dark-Hunter Novel (Dark-Hunter Novels Book 14) by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It’s paranormal so… kind of a mash-up of historical AND modern in this.
Maryse: My other one is Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 3) by J.R. Ward (also paranormal/historical AND modern), though in BOTH, they WERE slaves… but not when they meet the heroine… which is why I hesitate suggesting these.
JulieO: Read a book YEARS ago about a Roman slave who fought in the coliseum. One of the upper crust fell In love with him. I remember it being very good but was before kindles and such. Good luck to you.
Lily: The Tied Man by Tabitha McGowan
Maryse: Oh yeah!! I DID read that one!!! Perfect!! Here’s my Book Review.
Amber: What about Deliver by Pam Godwin. It kind of fits, but the heroine kidnapped (kind of) the hero and trains him to be a slave.

I’ve read Archeron and want to pass a warning to readers with abuse in their past. This story is brutal.
Burning Dawn (Angels of the Dark #3) by Gena Showalter. Smashing! Supercool, quirky & laugh out loud heroine. One of my all time favourites!
