Jessica and Kristal have both made this request, and it’s a great idea for a list. Even if I’m mostly into “bad boys”, I find myself falling head-over-heels for the subtle boys too. Maybe even more so, now, than ever.
So let’s build it!! :D!!! P.S. Here’s a list of all the blog posts tagged “reclusive” 😉
Jessica: Maryse! We need a list of shy guys! I love a cocky alpha as much as the next lady – self-assured, hot, bossy, he knows the chick is can’t resist his charms… but the shy guy is an untapped resource of swoon!
My favs in a tentative list are Rhett in How to Date a Douchebag: The Learning Hours, Archer from Archer’s Voice, Caleb from A Kiss Like This by Sara Ney and Will from Breaking the Silence. These guys aren’t necessarily hermits or recluses (I love that list too) but they are a bit awkward, shy, inexperienced, socially inept or totally unaware that they are sexy mofos. I need more book recommendations for shy guys!
Kristal: I have a question! There are so SO many books out there where the cool, confident guy falls for the awkward, shy girl but I can’t seem to find many (if any) books where it’s the opposite! Any ideas? Thank you!!
Right off the bat, I am going to recommend Flat-Out Love (Flat-Out Love Series Book 1) by Jessica Park. Matty is a heart-stealer. P.S. Here’s my review. OH!!!! And and All of You (Between Breaths Book 1) by Christina Lee (and here’s my review of that one!!)
Anyone else? 😉
READER RECOMMENDATIONS:
Holly: Shy guy in Archer’s Voice!
Rebecca Also, Archer’s Voice, by Mia Sheridan. I’ll never forget sweet, silent Archer!!
Jovana: I second Jessica Park’s books. Also, More Than Water by Renee Ericson fits this request perfectly!
Jessica Park: Thank you! Flat-Out Celeste also has an atypical male lead. Justin is pretty quirky… 🙂
Holly: How about Making Faces as well?
Maryse: YES!!!!!!! I LOVED Making Faces!! (my review)
Jacqueline: Dark Wild Night (Wild Seasons) by Christina Lauren has a nerdy hero; Beautiful Secret by them has a shy hero.
Jeannie: Forever & Always (The Ever Trilogy: Book 1) by Jasinda Wilder, Deeper We Fall (Fall and Rise Book 1) by Chelsea M. Cameron, Collision Course by S.C. Stephens, My Only: A Versions Novel by N.K. Smith, and Contradictions by Tiffany King are a few that I can think of.
Julie: Reclaiming the Sand by A.Meredith Walters. He was bullied and shy.
Brandi: I loved Reclaiming the Sand by A. Meredith Walters!! Female bully and the boy with Asperger’s she bullied all grown up!
Paris: The Fix Up (First Impressions) by Tawna Fenske
Linda: Would Transcendence fall into this category? Just loved this book.
Jan: I second Transcendence. This is a really different premise/setting for a love story, but it totally works. An unusual but beautiful romance, and yes, Ehd is a shy guy!
Nancy: Heart-Shaped Hack: Kate and Ian #1 by Tracey Garvis Graves is one of my favorites of 2015.
Bobbi: Screwdrivered by Alice Clayton.
Sallie: Puddle Jumping – Amber L Johnson <— sidenote from
Maryse! YES!!!! Loved this one! My review.
Michelle: All of You is still one of my favs but I never thought of him as the nerdy type
Maryse: True… that was a bit of a stretch but he’s not a “player” and he’s still a virgin, and he’s more or less shy, so I thought I’d include him. LOVED him. <3
Michelle: I loved him, I loved her and I loved them together. The whole story had me from the start.
Marion: Sweet Soul by Tillie Cole! The hero was truly a shy sensitive soul…loved it!!
Rebecca: The Georgina Kinkaid series by Richelle Mead. Seth is a nerdy author who writes his book in Georgina’s bookstore/coffee shop (she is a Succubus), love this series! And I’m loving these suggestions, I have a huge soft spot for Beta Guys!
Eden: Beautiful Secret by Christina Lauren!
April: Beauty and the Billionaire: A Dirty Fairy Tale Romance not really nerdy but super shy and a virgin

So you could be like Maryse!!!
Peeta from The Hunger Games
BAMMM!
OR Edward from Twilight
BAMMM BAMMM!
I haven’t read many of those up there but I think maybe it was Beautiful Secret that had the shy guy, not Beautiful Stranger. Max from Beautiful Stranger isn’t exactly shy *ahem*
I second Transcendence. This is a really different premise/setting for a love story, but it totally works. An unusual but beautiful romance, and yes, Ehd is a shy guy!
Carter from Vision in White by Nora Roberts.
Matt in Once Upon a Rose by Laura Florand.
Then there is…
Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones’s Diary
& of course the original of that… Pride & Prejudice
Ridge from Maybe Someday *swooooon*
Ghost Collins from Love Thy Neighbour (Friend-Zoned)
another by Mis S, Becoming Calder
I have to recommend Rhett again from How to Date a Douchebag: The Learning Hours! The ultimate shy guy and so swoon worthy
I totally agree. The guy had me grinning like a fool! Lol
Bev!!!! I was going to put ViW by NR but remembered my rating lol
Where is Jan!!! I’m sure she has a few socially awkward/shy english men from the Victorian era that can add to this list
I enjoyed the book. *shrug*
Lincoln in Attachments by Rainbow Rowell.
