Jennifer perused my “Top 10 Dark Reads” list recently and had a few of her own to add. Since it’s a pretty decent list (14 of ’em!) I figured I’d create a”reader favorites” post dedicated to her favorites.
I haven’t read any of these (except for Raw – stalker!!! So goooood!), even though I do love my scary books. That said, I’m more into “possessions & hauntings scary”, and of course a good psychological thriller with creepy stalkers, and villainous sociopaths and crazy mind games!! YES PLEASE!! I love being creeped-out and I love the thrill of being terrified. *ahem* In books!! ONLY EVER in books!! And movies. 😉
But I am sooooo intrigued with her list (lots of ’em appear to have creepy stalkers), though I may be too much of a chicken to read some of ’em. Why? ‘Cause Jennifer VERY SPECIFICALLY warn us… THESE. ARE. DARK. HEED THE WARNING! I’ve lost some of my fear-factor tolerance with age. I’m into “tame-scary” now. *snort* Although looking over this list, I recognize quite a few that are popular amongst our reader crew, and there are two on here that I’m totally going to “taste-test” tonight!! 😀
So, for those of you that enjoy the very dark side of dark reads and love stories (can we call it love?), these just might be for you!

Most of these books come with severe warnings of graphic content. So, if you are easily offended or have trouble reading about such things as human trafficking, torture, rape, f/f, m/f, etc. Then, do NOT read any of these books.
Some are not as graphic as others but still, they make 50 shades look like child’s play. Which in truth 50 shades is just crap. There are far, far better and more accurate BDSM style books and some of these have that.
However, actual BDSM is not about forcing or taking. That is a more specific kink or dynamic some have within BDSM.
This book list comes from my search. It’s a cross between BDSM, stalking, obsession, obsessive love etc.

Varian Krylov’s Abduction was super creepy, intense which kept me turning the pages.
Marni Mann’s Prisoned books fall nicely into this category. I kept thinking “what the” through the whole book.

Interesting. But, can you recommend something like Comfort Food? It kinda irks me when the male and female lead fall for each other way too fast. Something erotic, dark, and perhaps a lil bit suspense is alright.
