BARBARIAN WARLORDS WANTED!!! Bethany is looking for recommendations, and while I have a list that we created a few years ago (and still being updated ➔ (Reader Question – Book Recommendations like “Game of Thrones” & “The Golden Dynasty” ) and I’m reading a book in the exact genre she’s looking for, I figured I’d post her question so we can get even more recommendations.
She asks:
Hello fellow bookworms!
I have fallen down a ‘barbarian, warlord’ book Blackhole and am in desperate need of new suggestions. Anything like the Warlord series – Elizabeth Vaughn, Pathfinders way series, Tarien Soul, The Golden Dynasty & the kingmaker chronicles. Love me a warrior.
Magic is always welcome but not necessary, a plain ole swordsman will do 😉
Thank you in advance!
P.s, I’m an ugly crier so….no deaths, when I thought **** died in the **** series I about threw my iPad.
READER RECOMMENDATIONS:
Maryse: Pestilence (The Four Horsemen Book 1) by Laura Thalassa <— And of course, THIS series will be added to the list! 😀
Staci: Yes and War (The Four Horsemen Book 2) the second just came out. ❤🥰
Maryse: I’m reading War as we speak!!!
Joy: I’m in love with Pestilence!
Amy: *saves post to endless list of saved book posts* 😂📚❤️
Joy: Amy me too!
Amy: Joy, I had to create a new “saved list”. #noshame
Kylie: The Lone Warrior (A Four-sided Pentacle Novel) by Denise Rossetti. It’s part of a series
Joy: Tempted by Virginia Henley! It’s an amazing Historical Romance! Black Ramsay Douglas is the heir to Clan Douglas. He’s sexy, strong, known as “Hotspur” because of his sexual prowess and a formidable (a bit barbaric, lol) swordsman.
Tessa: Dark and Angsty medieval… Virginia Henley books. …Her historicals were always full of royal intrigue. *grins*
Caroline: Oldie but goodie series by Dara Joy and it’s in kindle unlimited. Knight of a Trillion Stars (Matrix of Destiny Book 1)
Kylie: Great series.
Fabi: I think I read Knight of a Trillion Stars in record time (for me). I was so anxious to get to Rejar’s story in book 2. I can’t wait to see what that tomcat gets up to in Regency England. …I liked both of them. I really like the world. It’s a mix of fantasay/sci-fi/pnr. Very original.
Jenny: This one is good! Captive of the Horde King (Horde Kings of Dakkar Book 1)
Kim: Jenny yes!! I just finished this. It’s exactly what your looking for
Caroline: Anna Hackett has a few series with strong alpha warriors, this is one of my favorite —> Edge of Eon (Eon Warriors Book 1)
Kylie: I like Anna Hackett’s Galactic Gladiator series!
Caroline: Another recommendation in kindle unlimited Claimed by the Warlord
Kylie: Have you tried the Light Blade series?
Ohh yes! Thanks guys, I’m going to have a fabulous weekend I can feel it.
Just got the two horsemen books, can’t believe they flew under my radar! The bargainer is one of my many book bfs. Checking out the rest also 🙂
YAY!! I’m so glad, Beth!! We’ll continue adding to it, and if you find more we should add, let me know. 🙂
Warprize, by Elizabeth Vaughn was a good one!
Ahhh yesss!! Both of your recommendations are on our original list (in this trope).

I need to read Warprize badly!!!
A Promise of Fire, The Kingmaker Chronicles was another good one !
I started reading war yesterday it’s not much of a romance. That’s my personal opinion. There’s just too much other stuff going on . It’s got to the point that I’m gonna dnf it .
How far are you in, Sonia? It gets VERY romance soon enough… and sticks that way (mind you the heroine tries to fight it off)… he is INSISTENT and very MINE about her. And such an angel. <3
Ly-san-ter series by Johanna Lindsey. Another oldie but goodie, especially the first one. 😀
Another great series! Men of the North by Elin Peer:) so good
I couldn’t get enough of The Northwomen Sagas series by Susan Fanetti. Less fantasy, more historical.
It takes us through the world of Viking warriors. The legends, the horrors, the romance, the fiercely honourable men and equally strong women. What more can one ask for?
