Age gap romance books are a pretty big thing in our crew (and can get pretty risqué and forbiddeny), but this specific request is extra special. Not necessarily forbidden, but still somewhat unconventional, and intriguing (especially because of certain issues that come about because of this).
And Megan wants recommendations like this:
She asks:
I’m trying to find and older man/younger woman age gap story, but I’m looking for older characters, the woman in her 30s or 40s and the man in his 60s or 70s.
Everything I come across seems to be younger.
Do you have any suggestions?
Anyone? 🙂
Here’s my real life love story of exactly this: My parents. When my mom turned 40, my dad was in his early 60s (but looking great and young and still so very suave… 😏). Of course, once upon a time, she was the young 20-something year old and he was the 40-something year old so when I was a baby, they had a whole different feel of “age gap” at that time.
P.S. He was your typical bad boy player (until he met her, that is). LOL!!! But that’s for another day. 😇😆
READER RECOMMENDATIONS:
Karen: I think “This Time Is Different” by Mae Wood might fit that category. And the LB Dunbar books definitely. I know a couple of the titles are
- Second Chance: another romance for the over 40 (Sexy Silver Foxes) and
- Midlife Crisis: another romance for the over 40 (Sexy Silver Foxes)
Skye Warren: Soul Deep by Pamela Clare
Rae: yes I forgot about this one . it and love Pamela Clare.
Rae: There is a specific author who writes older men – around this age. I think her name is Seven Rue. The book I think is fifty six. LB Dunbar also writes OM/YW but not sure how much the age gap is.
Bec: Giana Darling has The Fallen Man Series, it’s an age gap series, not sure of the age gap or ages tho.
Jan: I think Rooted by Susan Fanetti might fit the bill. It’s a lovely book about a woman (in her thirties??? maybe?) who takes her younger college aged sister to stay in Paris for an extended holiday. She meets an older widower who is a successful writer. They have a passionate affair in Paris but when they go back to US it’s not so clear as to whether they will stay together. (There is a HEA).
It’s a book from a mafia type series, but can easily be read as a standalone, and it’s really got very little to do with the mafia family stuff. It’s more a beautiful Paris romance between two intelligent, interesting older people. There is an age-gap, too.
Priti: Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory.

Also Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas. One of my favorite reads of 2020!
Hi Avalon! Thank you for that and yes, that one is SO GOOD and also on a different Age Gap list here: https://www.maryse.net/books/book-recommendations/reader-recommendations-our-favorite-older-man-younger-woman-romance-books.html
In this case, however, Megan is looking for Age Gap where both the characters are older (heroine in her 30s and 40s, and Hero over 50).
Love that book!! One of her best!
