THIS LIST WAS UPDATED DECEMBER 5th 2015!!
Some of you have specifically asked for this list, and/or made excellent book recommendations for it. Wonderful idea!! I happily gathered what I could find (and what you’ve suggested), right here.
Kylie: I just finished A Season of Eden and as much as I enjoyed it, it was a bit toned down for my liking. So I thought… what about a new category, we’ve had rock stars and mob men. How about teacher/professor student relationships, I have to say I think this is a great idea!!
Karen: The gist of the story is this: William Honor is Emma’s (very young) college professor that she is crushing on. (I think she is 21 and he is 25). The attraction is mutual and William acts on it because he always gets what he wants… Honor Student is really just like the introduction to the characters and the situation because, coming from Emma’s POV, she really has no idea what she is getting into. On the other hand, Honor Thy Teacher is a wild roller-coaster ride that will have your heart pounding triple-time from beginning to end!! Of course we don’t really want a William in our life, but as far as fantasy crushes go – with his dark looks and tattoo that wraps around his back – he ranks right up there with the best of them!!!
Brianna: I love teacher student, but I would like more where the teacher is the female. It’s usually the opposite for some reason.
Amy: Maryse. I’m at 83% of Good and my heart is aching for her. Instead of the mature-for-her-age character that are often in teacher-student books, she seems to be age appropriate emotionally and mentally and is reacting just like what would be expected for someone her age…which is making it hurt that much more.
This was a difficult list to create because often, the teacher student forbidden romance plot is a “surprise” that you’re not supposed to see coming, and I’ve had to check out a few spoilers a bit, to uncover these.
DO NOT LOOK DOWN if you like to be surprised reading a romance book, when that *oomph* hits you and you realize that you’ve just entrenched yourself in a “forbidden love” book. Personally I love going into a book having no idea I’m going to hit a “touchy/controversial/shocking NO.WAY! moment” (within reason… I much prefer “shock-value” moments to be between “18 and overs”. However… that is not always the case below).
I’ve had to break my personal “no spoiler” rules here to make this list now that I’ve discovered much of this “genre”. But I’ll live. I’m sure they’ll be just as exciting, I just won’t be “as shocked” when I hit that moment. Or, I’ll purge these from my mind and hope to come across them in a “surprise” way. Yah. That’ll work. 😉 Ummm… unless I use this list. And then. My plot has been foiled!
Of course, some are blatantly obvious in their subject matter… but some really are supposed to take the reader by surprise. In fact, I remember reading a book not too long ago (some of you may know which one I’m referring to…. 😉 ), having no clue and it was one of THESE!!! Ohhhhh yesssss!! I was delighted because I didn’t even see it coming. So I know. This is hard to choose from ’cause you might lose that element of surprise picking out of this list. You might want this genre of book, but you might prefer going into it having no idea that it’s one of those. If that’s the case, don’t look down. If you absolutely feel like reading one of “these” then by all means.. scroll down and choose one. 😉 Oh!! And if you know of any more, send ’em my way and I’ll add them below.
LATEST ADD-ONS DECEMBER 5th 2015
(also… I have a “spinoff” version of this list): Teacher-Student Romance Books where SHE is the teacher…
- Eighteen (18): Based on a True Story by J.A. Huss <— Allison LOVES it!! “I am at 91% in Eighteen and am looooooving it! Another one I don’t want to end! I love the characters, the guessing that I’ve done throughout the book, the second guessing of who I thought should have ended up with whom. The hotness. Yowza.” and Jean was enjoying this one, too! “I’m reading 18 right now…almost done….whoever it was here that read it and said it was different than any other teacher/student romance, you weren’t kidding! Not what I expected at all!”
- Tempting (The Tempting Series Book 1) by Alex Lucian <— Angie loves it! “I wanted to recommend a book to you. …this is the BEST student/teacher I’ve read since Gabriel’s Inferno. It is out of this world. I was going crazy over it the other day. The writing is SO GOOD. And it’s unbelievable realistic. The characters are just so authentic and real. It’s also extremely hot. LOLOL. Like WHOA on the heat scale. It has so much heart this book. SO MUCH heart. I fell madly, deeply in love.”
- Pushing the Limits by Brooke Cumberland <— Grey recommends this one! “I’m reading Pushing the limits by Brooke Cumberland. Whoa… Teacher/student read… *cleans off kindle screen from the steam*” and Allison loved this one, too! “I just read Pushing The Limits by Brooke Cumberland and loooooved it. Slow burn, angsty, student teacher romance. Both are suffering from losses in their lives but find comfort with each other. I especially live how the heroine’s anxiety issues were treated. I hate when a character has a panic attack and then it’s all over with and never mentioned again. (I know, I’m being picky.) This character had some pretty severe issues related to her earlier trauma and I love that they weren’t just swept under the rug. And the Hero . . . such a nice guy but WHOA when he gets in the bedroom he’s a dirty talker. I love that!“
- Playing with Trouble: Capital Confessions by Cheryl points out this one! “Maryse, Playing with Trouble (Capital Confessions) by Chanel Cleeton… It is a teacher-student story. I read the first book in this series, Flirting With Scandal over the weekend and really liked it. The series follows 3 sisters, but I think each book could be considered a standalone.”

- Roam (Roam Series, Book One) by Kimberly Adams <— MichelleS loved this WHOLE series!!! “…sounds like you are in the “mood” for teacher/student… so why not just go with Roam? He’s her history teacher! And when she calls him “Mr. Perry” during the love scenes later on it is really kind of hot (going to hell in a hand-basket).”
- Veiled Innocence by Ella Frank <— (my review)
- Acclamation by Vee Hoffman <— Rachel loves these!! “I am reading the Acclamation series by Vee Hoffman and they are excellent. They are amazing! It’s a teacher/student story. (Teacher is 28, student is 18 but it isn’t creepy) It is beautifully written. The first book in the series is a little slow, but the 2nd, 3rd and 4th books are excellent! I have read a lot of m/m books and these are some of my favorite. Highly recommend!”

I really liked Preservation by Rachael Wade too! 🙂
Great list as always, Maryse! As a teacher, I shiver at the thought, but secretly (in the closet) loved some of these books. Don’t forget about On the Island! Teacher or tutor/student that I absolutely adored!
You missed On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves!!

Yep Rena!! It does fit here. Thanks!
Thanks Christy, I’m putting it on the list! 🙂
Maryse, These look yummy. Thanks for another great list.
How about “The Good Student” by Elliot Mabeuse – I ran across this one as an audiobook from my local library. It is very heavy on the D/s relationship if you can handle that kind of thing! 😉
Thanks Traci!! I added it 🙂
I really liked the book “Out of Time” by Monique Martin. This has a professor, former student who is now his assistant and vampires. I would really recommend and book # 2 is out now.
Here’s one to add to your list:
The Sweetest Taboo by Eva Marques
HS girl and her teacher who is married and with a child.
Here’s one to add to your list:
Sweetest Taboo by Eva Marquez
HS girl and her married teacher who also has a child.
Holy Sheep!! AWESOME list 🙂
I just read Losing It tonight! I loved it! Funny and emotional!
I just read Flander’s Point. I can’t remember the author name, but it was actually pretty good.
Ok I added the new suggestions, and now I’ve got to check out “Losing it”. I squawked with delight when I read that synopsis!
Ok all I’ve got to say is OMG “Losing It” was brilliant! LOVED it!! Practically perfection for me!
Just finished When Summer Ends and it was really good!
A few more to add: “Drowning Instinct” by Ilsa J. Bick, “Seduce Me” by Jessica Lambert and “Want” by Stephanie Lawton

What about Prey by Lurlene McDaniel and Boy Toy by Barry Lyga I’ve read these both and they are really good! 🙂
I love your site, and this was a great list! This is one of my favorite storylines. Gabriel’s Fire and Gabriel’s Inferno is my favorite among the ones listed.
I love your website and this list. Student/teacher is one of my favorites, along with older man/younger woman. That would be another good list.
I just started reading “So Many Reasons Why” Book 1 by Missy Johnson.
Twenty-year old agoraphobic girl attacked as a child hasn’t left her house in 10 years. She begins an innocent email chat with her Professor and the story builds from there.
So far it feels pretty authentic. I’m intrigued to see where it goes. See what you think. It’s $1.03 right now.
Captive in the dark & seduced in the dark.
Extremely dark series hence the name but SO GOOD !!!
The sequel to Preservation is out now, its called Reservation by Rachael Wade.
I enjoyed the first book but it isn’t one of my all time favourites.
Thank you for this list, I love teacher/student angst filled books
What about Unteachable by Leah Raeder ? It’s really well written.
I enjoyed A Different Blue by Amy Harmon.
Unteachable by Leah Raeder was awesome!! I just finished reading it and can’t stop thinking about it. Damaged 18 yr old high school girl who hooks up with older men meets her 32 yr old film studies teacher at a carnival a week before summer break ends. They hookup in his car but she freaked and took off on him when he wanted to get to know her better (and because she was surprised to feel the same…) Well of course they reconnected on the first day of school and that’s when all the fun started!! One of the best parts of this book though is the strong, sharp and realistic yet still vulnerable heroine, Maise O’Malley. So many books I’ve read recently star mostly innocent, virginal, unaware women and this book has me looking for something else staring a tough, lovable heroine (like Cat from Night Huntress…) That’d be a great list to do ‘Favorite Heroines/Female Characters’ since the rest mostly focus on the male lead in a story (not that I don’t loooove a good bad boy!!) Just a thought, and thanks for all your wonderful recommendations BEST BLOG EVER 😉
As Claire above said, Unteachable by Leah Raeder is a brilliant story. I was reeled in from the first sentence to the last. It was so well written. It stands out from the teacher-student romance novels, in my opinion
OMG! I love this site! Thankyou thankyou for the awesome list!
I’m currently reading Sylvain Reynard’s works(I’m on the second book, “Gabriel’s Rapture”)
I can’t wait for the 3rd book(Gabriel’s Redemption) that will be out on december! I really love Sylvain’s way with words. Plus, his book is hot and steamy, hmmmm.
P.S. I copied your list for future reference hehehe (I’m also looking forward for your updates!)
Love! love! love!
Maryse
hi maryse. i just found your blog. and it has great books recommendation that i can’t wait to read. anyway, can i request something? pretty please hehe 🙂 do you know a book in mind that involving student with a teacher who’s much older than her? preferably 30 ^ and 18 something. and books that maybe can excite me because of the surprise element in the book? i need to read a book like that terribly. haih. been searching for it huhu T.T sorry for my poor english T.T
Hi Violet! I believe Sylvain Reynard’s “Gabriel” books might be what you’re looking for. 🙂
I am loving this list! I have to recommend Roam by Kimberly Stedronsky for this list too. Here is a bit from the synopsis:
Roam Camden is a bright girl in small town Ohio, eager to graduate high school and pursue her dreams of teaching history. Her well-planned path includes Logan, her life-long friend… and now boyfriend. On the first day of her senior year she meets the new history teacher, West Perry, and senses that there is something deep within her soul that remembers him… and a life they once shared.
thaaaaaaaaaaaaank you, Maryse! i’m gonna check the book out right away. ^_^
I am a BIG fan of the whole student teacher/professor premise. I’ve read a number of these books but one I’d like to recommend is Lost in Light by Kat Kingsley. There’s a little bdsm, somewhat along the same lines as 50 shades, but much better IMO.
By the way- I have only just scratched the surface of this site by I’ve found it useful SO many times. This is just the first time I’ve had something to contribute. Hope someone finds it helpful!
Thank you housecat!! 🙂 I’m going to check it out. *hug*
Stealing Parker is a terrific one to add to that list! It’s a non stop page turner. Highly recommened
I’ve just published my first ever novel which is in this wonderful genre!
It’s called “Forbidden Lessons” and is in all the usual places if you search by the title and my name (not sure if it’s appropriate to post links here). I would be very happy if you would like to include it.
Thanks also for your wonderful list, I’ve used to to find and buy around a dozen teacher-student novels already.
hi,I’ve just discoverd your blog and I’m going to browse through it with a great pleasure:).I wonder if you could recommend something for me. I’m watching a fantastic tv series Once and again(1999) and there is a great teacher-student almost relationship. I love reading/watching about this kind of things- I mean when relationship is not based on instanteous lust and there is slow development of feeling and tension. I would be grateful for any recommendation:)
Loving Mr. Daniels is a great one.
Maryse, to say nocturne by Charles and Andrea is so good,is an understatement.that book even lacks a word to describe how it is.it hot to me in a way I never thought.
unteachable, damaged, losing it and Gabriel’s inferno series which I’m still reading are brilliant.
Thanks for your list love!!
Read both Loving Mr Daniels and Nocturne today, both brilliant!
How about Veiled Innocence by Ella Frank? Delicious read!
Such an awesome list. Thanks!! I was searching for new reads after Sweetest Taboo. Now, I have lots of recommendations. 🙂
Recommend adding The Force of Gravity by Kelly Stevenson.
Loving Mr Daniels and Unveiled Innocence are alsoissing. Thx for the list!
I also recommend The Force of Gravity, Book 1 by Kelly Stevenson. I can’t wait for Book 2.
I’m curious…have the women reading these books had some sort of teacher/student romance experience. I know I did. It was in the 60’s and very innocent, but I like reading these books to fantasize about what might have been. Anyone else?
Hey! I commented a while back, but I just wanted to recommend Stealing Parker by Miranda Kennelly again. It’s a phenomenal read, I highly suggest anyone to read it. A girl is working as assistant coach on her high school baseball team, however a relationship with the new coach emerges.
I am looking for a book I read in I believe 2006 about a female high school student who has an affair with her male teacher and her and her friends murder him after she ends up pregnant (the murder is the twist at the end of the book). It follows them through their troubled adult lives a bit. I read it and kept the book until my flood and the cleaners threw them all away and I do not remember the title.
Patricia,I had an almost experience.I too just would wonder too
Do you include female teacher – male student relationships on the list? I miss those that I know. If any books on your list fall into that category, could you tell me which ones? I am writing a thesis on such books.
Those that I know of are:
Prey by Lurlene McDaniel
Notes on a Scandal by Zoë Heller
Tampa by Alissa Nutting
Of male teacher – female student relationships I suggest Disgrace by J. M. Coetzee. The relationship is not the main focus of the novel but nevertheless its important part.
Hey! Can you please help me find this student teacher romance novel. I can’t remember the name of the book.
The main girl character was raped and was pregnant. Then she was admitted in a hostel and there her teacher helps her with all the stuff… the first time they meet, the girl was passed out.the girl also have panic attacks.
Hey! I really love this list, and I was hoping you could help me.
I’m looking for a student teacher book with some dom/sub qualities but not necessarily as deep into it as “A Good Student.” Do you know of anything?
I don’t read many student/teacher books but I did read Breaking Noah by Missy Johnson and Suzanne Ashley earlier this year. It was very good.
Absolutely love this list, read almost all from here! Nocturn was my absolute favorite.
YAY!!! Thank you Ahlaam! I loved that one, too!!
What about Nina Lane and the Arouse Trilogy (Professor Dean West)?
Thank you so much for including my student-teacher romance French Kissing, Maryse! I have three others (very happy to send you copies): Forbidden Lessons, its sequel Forbidden Study, and Summer’s Edge. All on Amazon.
Oh, and add Temptation, Addiction and Eruption by Ivy Smoak. They are all amazing built around the same characters. And the newest one comes out here soon. I think it’s called Devotion.
Great list! I would also add “Her Perfect”, by Stephanie Walls. A gripping and doubly taboo story about a HS senior who’s lived in the shadows of her 6 brothers in a football obsessed family in the south. In her life long struggle to be noticed by her family she strives for perfection in everything she does, and in the process develops an eating disorder. She’s finally noticed, appreciated, supported, and ultimately loved, by a very sexy and empathetic new teacher, who is also a college friend of her oldest brother. Beautiful story about our human need to just be seen by the people in our lives and the damage done by benign neglect. Complex character development and outstanding writing.
Wow, there are so many! I’ve read about five of these so far. Will you add Gone Away Girl by Juliette Caron to the list? It’s a brand new one. I really enjoyed it.
