And also, here are all the posts tagged “Bossy Bullies” on the blog.
Ahhhh so many of us are not just fans of bad boys, but of book-guys that are absolutely horrid in the beginning. To us… er… I mean HER. You know why I think that is? ‘Cause it’s so much fun to uncover what makes him such a jerk in the first place, and also even more fun when the one person that we couldn’t stand (or that we feared most, in whatever way…), becomes our very best friend… and more.
Tessa: Finding a good bully book is hard. It has to emotionally go there, without being the I hate you, but now I love you romance.
I blame Twilight for my love of mean-angry bullies that become uber protective once they finally let someone in. And Zsadist. *sigh* That whole first scene when he first met Bella, and she saw how scarred and scary he looked?
βZsadist! Let her go!β Another male, this one with a long head of hair, jogged across the vast floor. βLet her go, Z.β
The scarred male leaned down to her, putting that misshapen mouth close to her ear.
Something pressed into her sternum, over her heart. His fingertip.
βYou just got saved, female.β
Eeeeep!!!! GAH!! Z is my ultimate book bully. But I have more to recommend (below + reader recommendations too!).
Now of course, I think in real-life, the animosity would be too great (the resentments, bad memories and what not), that it would be unlikely for our biggest enemy to become our favorite person in the world. But then again, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. After all, I’ll never forget when I was in college, a guy in our “entourage” was so loud and kind of mean and obnoxious. To me, and to anyone, really.
You know, the typical jock-bully, even with his own crew? Well anyway, he once told me a couple of years later when we ran in to each other in other social circles, that he always thought I was cute. OMG! Whaaaaaat? LOL! I avoided him like the plague every time we at the same party together, ’cause I didn’t want to be the next target of his ridicule, and he though I was cute? Seriously? Maybe the maturity kicked in? Or maybe a girl kneed him you-know-where and set him straight? *snort* π Either way, that’s my own personal “bully-story” and so I truly LOVE these “love stories”.
And I’ve been getting requests lately for a Bully List!
Kylie:Β What I am writing to you for is to ask if you have a list at all with books about “bullys”?Β I do have Bully by Penelope Douglas, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. Fear Me was actually my first “bully” read and I’m almost ashamed to admit that I LOVED every word of it! …Β Anyway, I looked at your website and squirreled through the forums, but I can’t seem to find a list specifically for bullys πΒ I would love to know if you or your readers/followers know of any other bully books (as I think I have found a new genre addiction for the moment) and I would love to have some suggestions/recommendations. Perhaps there’s not enough of them out there for a list, but still…
Anne:Β I’ve got a hankering to read a book (or three) where the couple initially hate each other before working through whatever problems/misunderstanding they have to reach their HEA. Hopefully lots of angst and plenty of passion thrown in for good measure!Β A bad boy / alpha / biker wouldn’t go amiss either! I’ve read a few books that fit the brief, but Bully stands out as a favourite.Β Β Any suggestions would be welcome, and, dare I say it, maybe a top 10
Kristina: I love your complete list but I would love it if you could add a enemies that fall in love like “bully”
Dyan:Β I was bullied when I was in grade school so I love books that has a bullied theme.
Amy: …all of those bully jerk-face books up there have me ready to squirrel.
Tessa:Β I like jerksβ¦
Melinda: Iβve just clicked 4 books. Tessa your recommendation. I love bully books.
MichelleS:Β This is my absolute FAVORITE kind of reading, so I have a bazillion of these guys in my βrolodexβ of booksβ¦.
GREAT IDEA!!! Now of course, I have a ton of alpha-jerks that come to mind (you know, like Tate from Sweet Dreams) but he’s not so much a bully, you know? He still has that dignity and protective care-of-a-woman thing going on. He’s just a big ol’ jerk at first (which I LOVED ’cause I was appalled, that the guy she – and we- were crushing on didn’t even look twice at her and was happy to say so)!
But for this list, what we’re looking for is full on bully-buttholes (or at least obvious bully-characteristics to ’em). Those that purposely infuriate, terrorize (in whatever way) alienate and humiliate the heroine. I love when a heroine sees him and immediately runs for cover, or does her best not to be noticed. And of course that never works. LOL! I especially love when we find out it’s just ’cause he’s hurt, or scared to let someone in, or thinks it’s “for her own good” to stay away from him… or maybe even just ’cause he’s just a plain ol’ ass, and doesn’t know any better! But I want the whole ride getting there, and he really needs to be a tough nut to crack. π
Here are a few of my own personal favorites!
Wild RecklessΒ by Ginger Scott <—Β My own personal recommendation! It gives me a feel between Beautiful Disaster and Bully. And it doesnβt have a high school feel. It doesnβt read like oneβ¦ if youβre thinking βyoung feelβ, you know? Iβm still in the first part but he is a JERK!!!!! And she has his scary-mean down really well. It doesnβt feel like heβs just play-acting the hateful mean jerkβ¦ heβs got that darkness to him and he makes me nervous which is SO fun! (my review)
Surviving Raine: Surviving Raine Book 1Β by Shay Savage <— This guy is the ultimate JERK-FACED BULLY! I loved every single second of it. Being stuck on a floating dingy, and then an island… sharing “survival” space with a hot but hateful guy struggling with his own SERIOUS personal demons. He’s not just grumbly, my friends. He’s downright horrible. At times. Often. π And Jean agrees! “I love this dirty talking, moody jerk!!!” MichelleS too! “Surviving Raine is absolutely a bully bookβ¦ wellβ¦ more of that total alpha male. Heβs such a JERKβ¦ and alcoholic to bootβ¦. and itβs Shay Savageβ¦ so YESβ¦. that was a 5 star read for me.”Β (my review)
Twilight (The Twilight Saga Book 1)Β by Stephenie Meyer <— My VERY FIRST book bully ever. The idea that a hot classmate hated her SO much? THAT sucked me right in and I never put it down once. MY GOD I LOVED THIS BOOK! I blame it for my love of mean guys that are uber protective once they finally let someone in. (my review)
Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 3)Β by J.R. Ward <— Zsadist’s “bully” status and meanest guy in this mean-guy group starts from book #1, so to get the full effect of just how mean he is, I’d of course, recommend starting from the beginning. It’s the slow buildup of how scary he is, and how ALL must avoid him, especially women, that makes HIS book the absolute best for me. Yes I know… you see this book on so many of my own personal recommendations. What can I say? It’s one the my absolute favorites, if not, my ABSOLUTE favorite of ’em all. And if you haven’t read it yet, and you’re looking for a hateful bully type that especially appears to reject one woman, this is for YOU! (my review)
And of course Christian Grey… (he’s got some bully tendencies… oh yes!!)
and Barrons from Karen Marie Moning’s Fever Series. You know? Barron’s is the BIGGEST BULLY of them all, hands down. Yep… maybe even worse than Z. OH GOD I melted when we finally got a deeper look at Barrons and sure enough… he had a heart! Sorta. π *sigh* But he’s pure 100% jerk-faced bully!
Amy: …oh, that delightfully frustrating mass of hotness called Barrons…
Tessa: KMM is full on Swoon. If you arenβt in love with Barronsβ¦ How can you not love Barrons? Heβs a jerkface guy whoβs bossy and you want to slap him, but is super hot and and andβ¦ Seriously, BARRONS!!
βΒ BULLIES TO LOVE BOOKSΒ β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈΒ READER RECOMMENDATIONS –Β UPDATED 04-30-2019
P.S. Tessa & Grey are our resident bully-book lovers, so you’ll see a ton of new recommendations from them.
Tessa: I love being the guinea pig for bully books. *happy dance*
Laura: Untouchable: A Bully RomanceΒ by Sam Mariano, is a deliciously dark bully romance. Easily my top read of 2018! The book begins with a sexual assault in a classroom so be warned and this theme of non-consent carries through most of the book. The main character, Carter, is aware that he is a genuinely bad guy but doesnβt care. Zoeyβs boundaries donβt mean anything to him. The storyline will keep you hooked until the very last chapter when you find out how much Zoey means to Carter. Highly recommended.
Ashley: Omg Iβm reading Untouchable and I just donβt know! It all feels so wrong! I donβt think Iβve ever read such a dark romance.
Northernstar: One of my last top reads of 2018 was Untouchable by Sam Marino. The first 10% was a tough read but after that I couldnβt put it down. I really enjoyed the push and pull of the two main characters and by the end I believed in their story. Thatβs all Iβll say about that oneβ¦
Cheryl: I did read the first chapter of Untouchable. WOW. And not a good wow. Iβm not sure how he could redeem himself or whether he even will and overall how I feel about this book right now. Thinking about it. For nowβ¦
Robyn: Iβm just finishing up Untouchable by Sam Mariano. Itβs a great bully book. It has kept me on my toes as to what the H will do next. Heβs naughty and I mean naughty, but he also has a nice side if you can just get on it.
Tessa: Untouchable by Sam Mariano.Β GAH! This book! GAH! THIS is why the best of 2018 is waiting until the end. Itβs so good and evil and OMG, I want to punch him and adore him and GAH! He reminds me of Mateo in all the bad and good ways.
Anna: Dare Series by Shantel Tessier. The h hides behind a tree and watches a group of boys murder someone. She tries to be sneaky but they catch her! The first two books are with the same h and H. I couldnβt put these books down!
Tessa: GAH! I canβt stop thinking about it, especially that ending. It doesnβt end on a CH, but itβs the end of her first year at the academy, but that end. Filthy Rich Boys: A High School Bully Romance (Rich Boys of Burberry Prep Book 1) by CM Stunich. If Grey read RH, Iβd be pushing this book so much. The bullying and the story and then that ending. GAH! SOOOO GOOOD!
Grey: Dirty Filthy Rich Men! Yep, I had an ARC of this one and the prologue earlier this month and really enjoyed them. A mean olβ bully and dark (not quite black, but greyish) undertones β¦ Certainly was creeping up on my book catnip!!
Tessa: Do I need to say I adore the bully set up? *grins* I noticed itβs JUST starting to be a trope for writers to write. FINALLY. π Bad Bad Bluebloods (seriously, the name sucks!) by CM Stunich kept the drama running after her last book. 5*d it. π Itβs the second to Filthy Rich Boys which was so good, with a seriously SHOCKING ending that had me gasping irl. You see why Iβm torn? BR with a book that everyone is praising or figuring out whatβs going on after THAT ENDING!
Mharis:Β Maryse! Ohmigosh. Wanna know something crazy? You know the guess on my ask? The Filthy Boys? I finished it and I just finished book 2 now. What the hell right? I was supposed to be working. HahaΒ Just thought to share π
Maryse: Wow they must have been awesome for you to tear through them so fast!!! I’m going to post a reading order for the series. Tessa and a few others are crazy for it too. π
Mharis: It is. It was! Gotta warn you though, both books end in a cliffy!!! The third bookβs release is on May 1st! And itβs a four-part series.Β οΈ
The Peer and the Puppet (When Rivals Play Book 1)Β by B.B. Reid <—Β Jamie & Tessa (and more!!) loved this one!!
Jamie: Iβm recommending this to you. Bully romance with dark tones, the characters are still in school. The H and his brothers are major jerks and the h doesnβt take his or his brothers crap she fights back. Iβm so excited for the second one to come outππ
Tessa: BB Reidβs Peer and the Puppet, OMG, it was awesome. If you liked Fear Me, youβll love this. Itβs not as violent as Fear Me. …ANGST!Β πΒ Tons of it.
Tessa: Broken Wings: A Dark High School Romance (Dark Legacy Book 1) by Jaymin Eve and Tate James β OMG this book was my fantasy mix. Bully book with Jamesβ great plot and story telling with Eveβs wonderful character writing. *thunks* Not reverse harem! Just bully book with great characters. GREY! FYI! Itβs KU!
Jackie: I looooved Broken Wings. Never thought I would find a book similar to Paper Princess by Erin Watt or the Silver Swan by Amo Jones ever again. But here it is. It has similar features (four protective guys, elite in a school, bullying etc.) but the story line itself is completely different. The level of angst was beyond scale. I adored everything about this book. Riley was hilarious and Beck is definitely my new book crush. Also.. mother of all cliffhangers. Couldnβt put it down and I now have a book hangover. I donβt know how Iβm supposed to wait until June for the next book..
Tessa: OMG. I started reading Boys of Brayshaw High last night and am loving it so much I was gonna jump on here and tell yβall to read it! I havenβt gotten to more FC yet, but total bully book. But if it comes out also FC like? *squeeees* I can see that happening because Raven is awesome and well, so far the boys are jerks. Lol
Tessa: Alright, Boys of Brayshaw was AWESOME! I have to wait for spring for the next book, but OMG. Itβs everything i love in a NA. Bullies, great secondary characters, and the familial feelings. (so right about the Fallen Crest type) SQUEEEE!
Tasha J: Tessa, reading Brayshaw now, eeek!!! Thank you for the rec! Iβm loving it more than FC, actually! π
Jenn: Tessa-Just wanted you to know as I believe you are the one that went crazy for it on hereβ¦I am reading βBoys of Brayshaw Highβ I was hooked just in the first few chapters.
Tasha J: I didnβt want Brayshaw to end and when it didβ¦*glares*
Lisa M: Omg I just finished Boys of Brayshaw High!! So good total Fallen Crest & Elite series feel. Such a cliffy can wait for the next one!!! I want it now!!!
D.G. Sooooooβ¦.I started reading The Kiss Thief earlier today and I am HOOKED!!! My catnipβ¦bully and arranged marriage. Not too far in yet but that Wolfe is a big ole meanie!
Mona: I totally agree with D.G., The Kiss Thief was unputdownable (is that a word??) for me! Sooo good!!
MichelleS: I second the love for The Kiss Thief. Woo-eee-mama. Just started, but Iβm hooked. That Wolfe is a big bad alpha. And everyone has secrets. Every page has me saying, βhe did NOT just do thatβ or βhe did NOT just say thatβ.
MichelleS: Yβall I just finished The Kiss Thief. Another 5 star read! Iβm on a roll here. Could not put it down.
Tessa: Best YA fantasy was The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air Book 1). *swoons* EVERYTHING I love in a book, including a huge bully. π FAE! BULLY! FANTASY WORLD! So, just pure catnip written really well with an awesome plotline.
…you have to read Cruel Prince, unless a bully is something you detest. π
Robyn: I also finished Cruel Prince. I have to say that this book is absolutely one of my best of 2018 reads. It was so well written. It took me there on every page. I canβt wait to see how everything unfolds…
Ash: Cruel Prince by Holly Black. Book 2 just released and it will be a trilogy. Awesome writing and unique story!!
Michele G: So, I started Elite (Eagle Elite Book 1) by Rachel Van Dyken last night and am totally hooked!
Tessa: *gives huge grin* MichelleG. Please, please, please tell Grey how awesome that book is. πΒ Thank you for reading it! I swear, itβs one of the few books that I keep going back to and re-reading over and over. *sighs* Now I want to read it again.
Tessa: OH and please, tell her how much you just wanted to punch Nixon at first. Like, break his nose punch. I kinda went into recluse mode but am back. π What a way to come back though.
Michele G: I lovvved Elite and yes I absolutely hated Nixon! There are some great and fun twists in that book!!! I can totally see you re-reading it!
Tessa: YES! Nixon is just⦠OMG. Such an a**!
MichelleGβ¦ *squeeeeee* Heβs such a bully. Like, pure snobby elitest type of bully which makes it my favorite type. I still havent read the whole series because Iβm stuck on one book and I know what happens because I read the book after, a side book, first. *sighs*
Melinda: I just finished reading Be the GirlΒ by K.A Tucker anything written by her is an instant one click. Itβs a Bully book about a teenage girl. It is so good. Def 5 stars for me.
Amena: try The Contract (The Contract Series Book 1) by Melanie Moreland.Β I loved the bullying in it π
Carla: The contract by Melanie Moreland (I never expected it to be so so good)
Jamie: Alpha Bully (The Alpha Shifter Collection Book 5)Β by Sam Crescent.Β Just discovered this site and your lists! Love it!!! Thank you!
Cindy: The latest one i read was A Pound of Flesh. Such a great book but Wes Carter definitely starts out as a bully!! Itβs a must readβ¦ Great story, writing, angstβ¦ The whole package!! Another great super angry prison book that I thought was very very good..
Julie O: A Pound Of Flesh: really enjoyed how well the characters were thought out. Will definitely read sequel.
Grey: Maryse, have *YOU* read Until You (The Fall Away Series)?? because girl, itβs an experience!Β Iβm back hereβ¦ because this is my home base. I love my jerk face bullies. Eenie, meenie, miney, moeβ¦ I should be embarrassed about how many times I have read Bully and Until You (Jaredβs POV).
Maryse: Grey I LOVE bully booksβ¦ they are one of my favorite genres. How someone could hate someone else so much, dread seeing them, and a twist of fate makes it so that they become SO close. WOW I LOVE that change in dynamic. It has an even greater effect though, if the bullying is realistic and lasts nice and long in the story. P.S. I haven’t read it yet…
Jean: Grey, I loved Bully but havenβt read Until You yet, but have had it for a long time!
Grey: OMG Jean!!! Read it!!! Iβm abusing exclamation points right now, and I donβt even care! I loved Until You even more than Bully! Bully actually only got a 4.5 star rating from me, but Until You got a full 5 star rating!!! Oh hell, now I am going to have to go and read it again! Oh you simply have to read it!!! Jaredβs take on everythingβ¦ itβsβ¦ pretzel tummy jerkface angsty brilliance at itβs best!!!
Jackie:Β Another book to add to this list: Paper Princess: A Novel (The Royals Book 1) by Erin Watt and Elle Kennedy. I loved loved this book so much. It reminded me of the Made Men series (Nero & Vincent), the Eagle Elite series and Cruel intentions all mixed together in one book = Pure Bliss.
βElla Harper is 17 years old with no parents so Callum Royal takes on the role of her guardian and moves Ella into his house with his 5 sons. The Royal guys are immediately not a fan of Ella. She comes from a different world and upbringing, barely able to make ends meet and seeming less savory than what their prestigious staus grants them. They plan to make sure Ella is reminded of this at all times. Reed, the leader of the Royal pack, has the influence to make her life miserable.β
The book is AMAZING. I loved it!
Jenn: I finished Paper Princess-Erin Watts and immediately went on to Broken Prince, I am telling you these books are crack to me. So freaking addicting!
Michele G: I read Paper Princess yesterday by Erin Watt. It was a good bully book with some angstβ¦reminds me a little of Elite by Rachel Van Dyken. I moved immediately to the sequel, Broken Prince because it leaves you with a doozie of a CH.
Victoria: Corrupt (Devil’s Night Book 1)Β by Penelope Douglas is really great, the book has literally everything but I hated that Erika, the main heroine, didnβt stand up for herself at times.
Grey: Oh, Iβve read Corrupt. It was SOOOO good! …definitely read Corrupt!!! 4.5 star read for me. Dark, twisted, pretzel tummy, yummy mind f*ck! Loved it!
Tessa: BULLY JERK!Β Β Β …Seriously, this twisted stuff is what I adore the most. Just pure twisted jerks. Dirty Filthy Rich Men (Dirty Duet Book 1) did not disappoint. Anyone who loves the darker, bully type hero, READ THIS! Seriously, I canβt believe how much I loved it. Thank you Grey for recommending it!
…Seriously, CATNIP!! This is not for everyone but Iβm so glad Grey brought it to my attention. *huggles Grey* My bully buddy.Β Β
Janet: I just wrote this in your What to Read After Fifty Shades of Grey comments but then thought Iβd throw it here too. i really recommend Laurelin Paigeβsβ duet series, Dirty Filthy Rich Men and Dirty Filthy Rich Love β the story of Donovan and Sabrina! A good roller coaster ride through hot obsession, with some angst, some heart wrench and a buffet of good characters to love and loathe.
Grey: Dirty Filthy Rich Men! Yep, I had an ARC of this one and the prologue earlier this month and really enjoyed them. A mean olβ bully and dark (not quite black, but greyish) undertones β¦ Certainly was creeping up on my book catnip!!
BBR: Maybe TangledΒ by Em WolfΒ should be included in this list.Β He is bully for sure and the heroine in this book is not spineless at all πΒ I hate spineless heroines!
Maryse: YESSSSSSS!! I absolutely LOVED that book!! Agreed! π P.S. Here’s my 4.5 STAR Book Review.
Lisa: Tangled by Em Wolf. Adonis Benoit. First class bully. Megalomanic narcissist is how heβs described!! …Great bully book.
Brenda: Tangled by Em Wolf. Such a great bully type book! Em Wolf just released another great book recently. 30 Days. Great too!
Lisa M: Sundayβs could not put down book of the day Tangled by Em Wolf. Started this morning n finished just in time to watch The Walking Dead!!! Loved loved loved it!! So conflicted & torn throughout the book on whoβs side to be on!! Angst or what?? Anyone else read it yet?

- Make Me (Make or Break Book 1)Β by Amanda Heath <— Kristina recommends it! Poor girl suddenly living rich… “Paisley has to navigate her new life and all the new people in it. While her mother might have lied about her grandparents, no one is lying about Channing. Heβs beautiful, mean, arrogant, and turning her on.“
- The Deal (Off-Campus Book 1)Β by Elle Kennedy <— “…she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone andΒ makeΒ him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish,Β cockyΒ captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.” Sidenote from Maryse: GAH I LOVED THIS ONE! I 5-starred it. So good!! (my review)
- The Nature of CrueltyΒ by L.H. Cosway <—Β Mo suggests this one, and by that blurb, it’s perfect for this list! “The first time she laid eyes on her best friendβs twin brother she fell in love at first sight. It didnβt last very long. He was a hateful boy who made her miserable…“

Laura: …heβs already a control freak bully u want to punch but are scared of o_o
- Underestimated Box SetΒ by Jettie Woodruff <—Β Speaking of mind mess ups, Iβm loving Underestimated.Β Β Β Itβs bad when part of you is rooting for an abusive jerk.
- UnforgivenΒ by Elizabeth Finn <—Β Lisa recommends this one!
Lisa: OMG the book where the guy is the biggest jerk to the girl is Unforgiven by Elizabeth Finn, I could not put it down he was such an A$:, but he felt he has reason but he starts feeling conflicted and becomes even more of an as$. Definitely should be on this list.”
- The Dark HighlanderΒ by Karen Marie Moning <— MichelleS recommends this one!
MichelleS: Daegus MacKeltar, the Dark Highlander, Karen M. Moning β he was sooooo dark, and sooooo hotβ¦. and a Scotβ¦. SOLD!”
- A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, Book 1)Β by Kresley Cole <—Β And she recommends this one!
“Lachlain MacRieve, Immortals After Dark Book One β the things he made our wee little Emmaline doβ¦. OMG! Loved it.”
Maryse: I read this one too, and I remember thinking back then that he was TOO jerk-ish!! LOL!!! (my review)

Iβd add Messed Up by Molly Owens to the list.” Sure enough… sounds like a big ol’ tumultuous read! “What starts as a vicious prank one dark summer night leads sixteen year-old Chelsea Mallory plummeting into a MESSED UP world of obsession, a clandestine fraternity, a lost fortune, murder and ultimately a scramble to save her own life.”
- Reclaiming the SandΒ byΒ A. Meredith Walters <— Sharee’s suggestion!
“Reclaiming the Sand is also one.” In this one, the heroine was HIS bully!

- DEVIANTΒ byΒ Jaimie RobertsΒ <—Β Lauren’s #1 pick for this list!
“Deviant by Jamie Roberts has to be my #1 pickβ¦.then book 2,Β REDEMPTIONβ¦.well, the heroine faked her death at the end of book 1 to get away from the hero/bully/a$$hole so book 2 was him having a nervous breakdown about her not being around.
He spent YEARS going into her house & moving things aroundβ¦.putting the toilet paper roll the βwrong wayβ, moving her car in the middle of the night (if it was backed in, heβd switch it & vice versa), even little stuff like moving a pen a few inches on her desk. Just to f**k with her.”

- Corrupted (The Manipulation Trilogy Book 1)Β by Alicia Taylor & Natalie Townson <— Marlie has a bunch of suggestions and this trilogy is one!
- Monster Stepbrother by Harlow GraceΒ <— Another Marlie suggestion!Β Monster Stepbrother by Harlow Grace (I totally canβt wait for the next: Fearless Fighter)
- The After SeriesΒ by Anna Todd <— Marlie mentions this one! From the blurb: “…heβs also rudeβto the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, TessaΒ shouldΒ hate Hardin. And she doesβuntil she finds herself alone with him in his room.”Β Β yep it fits!
- The Devil Behind Me (Devil Trilogy Book 1)Β byΒ Evangelene <— another one from Marlie.
- Bully MeΒ byΒ C.E. Stark weather <— I just found this one… “Slightly chubby and awkward, she tries her hardest to be invisible. But one boy makes that impossible.Β Shane Ellery is tall, muscular and handsome. And there is nothing he loves more than teasing Kaine.Β When a cruel twist of fate brings them together, it’s the worst day of Kaine’s life.“
- All About You (Love & Hate series #1): romantic suspense new adult and bad boy college romanceΒ byΒ Joanna Mazurkiewicz <— and the last of Marlie’s suggestions! Ohhhh the blurb indicates she bullied him when they were teens, and now… “Now Iβm starting a new life, away from Gargle and away from my past, but everything crashes when I see Oliver the first day at university. Itβs clear that many things have changed since weβve been apart. Now he is captain of the rugby team and the most popular bloke on campus.Β Then he makes a bet and gives me an ultimatum: I leave Braxton forever and start somewhere else, or I stay and play his gameβ¦ because heβs never forgotten that it was me who ruined his life two years ago.“
- Fear Me (Broken Love Book 1)Β byΒ B.B. Reid <— THIS ONE IS SUPER-BULLY DARK!! Kristina, and many of our fellow readers recommend it!
Kylie I have just finished reading Fear Me by B.B. Reid, and all I can say is WOW! Is was dark and twisted, HOT, nasty and kept me thinking the whole way through! Although the heroine in Fear Me did aggravate me at times – I felt she should/could have stood up for herself more.
Tessa: If you want bully, Fear Me is the best bet… The difference between Fear Me and Bully is Jared is horrid, but heβs a BBF horrid for me. Keiranβ¦ if I met him irl, Iβd run the other way. *grins*… Fear Me is hot, but dark. To me, itβs not as good as Bully, but again, Bully stole my heart. That classroom scene where sheβs giving a speech just makes me choke up every time. Fear Me makes me gasp and hide my head, and itβs well, hot. π If BB Reid always writes this well, with such well developed characters, sheβll be an auto buy author.”
Deborah: …itβs like Bully met fiftyshadishβ¦.itβs my top favorite for this yearβ¦.and it a little on the dark sideβ¦..I actually liked it better than Bully and I looooooved Bullyβ¦β¦Β I did like Fear me better than Bully but itβs quite different very dark (dubious consent) if you can handle things like thatβ¦β¦β¦letβs just say Fear me makes Bully look like sesame street π
Victoria: Also Broken Love series by B. B. Reid is pretty good but even though it was already mentioned, I gotta say β it is really dark and I loved it and hated it at the same time.
Sidenote from Maryse: I was actually half way through it, and I did put it down ’cause OMG he is so much of a Bully and so are his friends, I was tooooooo furious. LOL! But that might be a good thing depending on what you’re in the mood for… π
- The Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout <—Β Ann-Theres: Oh, think I must add The Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Daemon Black is kind of a Bully and an #%^hole at the beginning, and then some others are tooβ¦..
Victoria: The Lux series is EVERYTHING. If you are searching for a book that has a bully, like Keiran, from Broken Love, then it ainβt gonna do it for ya. Daemon is kind of a bully but mostly for the first bigger part of the first book.

The Nature of Cruelty (L.H. Cosway) and Unlocked (Courtney Milan) come to mind immediately. If You Stay (Courtney Cole) and Love and Relativity (Rachael Wade) also come to mind. On Dublin Street (Samantha Young) probably also qualifies. Of course, Z and Jared are among my fav bullies.
Ryder in Fae Chronicles is a numero uno, first class major bully and alpha! He is so much like Barrons, it’s not even funny. What a jerk…. that I secretly lust after….
And Lhan in Golden Dynasty was a bad bad bad big warrior who did bad bad things to our heroine… and I FORGAVE him for it… go figure….
This is my absolute FAVORITE kind of reading, so I have a bazillion of these guys in my “rolodex” of books…. let’s see….
Daegus MacKeltar, the Dark Highlander, Karen M. Moning – he was sooooo dark, and sooooo hot…. and a Scot…. SOLD!
Lachlain MacRieve, Immortals After Dark Book One – the things he made our wee little Emmaline do…. OMG! Loved it.
Caleb, from Captive in the Dark – the title alone should tell yu how bad this boy was!
Oh how fun. I bet I find my next read here……
What a great list!! Thanks Maryse!
Mo The Nature of Cruelty is the only L.H. Cosway book I haven’t read. Adding it to my TBR pile π
Oh and I really should read the BDB series soon!
I’m reading Blood and Roses and Zeth is quite bullyish. Not sure though if that will change. Great read so far!!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ryder *sigh* he can bully me around any time! Fae Chronicles rock big! The Demons book is coming out soon and I CAN’T WAIT – A Demon’s Dark Embrace
Oh and can’t forget Lothaire! I still chuckle remembering him and her exchanging “gifts” when he ticked her off so bad she fled.
Under Locke and Kulti by Mariana Zapata – 2 of my all time favourites – and they both started out as bullies but ended up being 2 of my favourite ever heroes.
Mo, I really liked Unlocked & The Nature of Cruelty.
This is one of those like in books but in real life? Stay away from the people that can only express themselves through cruelty.
I’m reading Kulti right now and he’s a total jerkface!
I was thinking of Rush Finlay as well (Rosemary Beach)….makes his step-sister sleep under the stairs for half the book. Deviant by Jamie Roberts has to be my #1 pick….then book 2, Redemption….well, the heroine faked her death at the end of book 1 to get away from the hero/bully/asshole so book 2 was him having a nervous breakdown about her not being around. He spent YEARS going into her house & moving things around….putting the toilet paper roll the “wrong way”, moving her car in the middle of the night (if it was backed in, he’d switch it & vice versa), even little stuff like moving a pen a few inches on her desk. Just to f**k with her.
Raw by Belle Aurora….OMG, how could I forget about Twitch? You guys remember this one? The “I fell in love with my stalker” book? It was insane!
Aaah I’m with MichelleS, my favourite type of reading too!! Another one that jumps to mind is Debt by Nina G. Jones.
*squees* My type of list!
First the questions: Is Surviving Raine a bully book? Geesh, you want me to read something, just say that! Deviant is a bully book? I thought it was just dark. I have that one too! Nature of Cruelty has been on my “Need to buy” list. Goodness knows, that sounds like my type.
Bully was good. *one of my favorites* Jared makes me swoon. Fear Me… Up there, where I said he scares me? Yes! He’s that insane. Even from his POV, he’s scary! I read Bully Me. That was pretty good, though I never got around to the second book. Debt Inheritance… *blinks* It’s a bully book? Which makes sense thinking. No wonder I adore it. Fallen Too Far, again, loved it. Liked Raw. Golden Dynasty man, that was good, and he was definitely a jerk.
Now the question is, when is the book dark and when is it a bully book?
Tessa: when is it dark and when is it a bully book? I think it can be both, for sure… but Mud Vein was dark to me, and not a bully book… and A Hunger Like No Other was a bully book to me, but absolutely NOT dark.
Tessa: – oh yes! Surviving Raine is absolutely a bully book… well… more of that total alpha male. He’s such a JERK… and alcoholic to boot…. and it’s Shay Savage… so YES…. that was a 5 star read for me.
*grins* All that trying to persuade, and poof! One word makes me want to read it.
Oh, and read Nero! That… that was totally different and fun and yeah. He’s a bully.
DUFF. He was SUCH A JERK! He had her totally believing she was ugly and making her insecure. Ugh
R.L. Mathewson Neighbor from Hell Series
Designated Ugly Fat Friend – The Duff (the movie is horrible though)
Most of the “dark” books seem to have physical violence, whereas the “bully” type books are more mental abuse. Idk….I guess that’s how it seems to me. The whole “kidnapped, you are my slave, call me Master or Sir or I’m gonna whip you ….I’m just gonna whip you anyway” book is dark to me. Bully books seem lighter……a “dark” book taken down a few notches. Idk….I’m not sure WHAT I’m trying to say….anyone get what I’m saying?
Yes! That’s what I was thinking. The exception to me is Fear Me, but it was more mental than actual pain, except when they met.
A lot of the “stepbrother” books are bully books too. I think that’s a big appeal: that jerk you have to live with.
No, I agree. There is a definite difference between being bullied and being kidnapped.
Great list Maryse. I love these types of books!! π
I read this column with my lips tightly pressed together. I read 2, count them two, books today. I also did zero housework…but I did shower and made sure my children were fed…so there’s that.
Insomnia is a stone cold b*tch…and the fuel to that raging inferno happens to be bullies & another is dark and twisted stories. Ive read several on your list Maryse, all of your personal favorites, as a matter of fact. Now have several more added to my *I wish every day was payday* list.
Vishous, Z, Barrons, Ryder, Q, Caleb…make my heart pound and my knees weak.
I think I may be ready for some more bad boys…
Oooh, I love this post π Draven in the Afterlife Saga (book 1) by Stephanie Hudson! He’s being mean to her in the first book. Totally ignoring her and pushing her away. God how I love that book π
Reclaiming the Sand is also one.
Grey – INCOMING PEANUTS….. Must. Add. Lhan. ….. you love the super bad boy? Just you wait…. just you wait…. Golden Dynasty baby….
MichelleS. Is Golden Dynasty part of a set?? I am definitely going to read them, because the peanuts are scary *wink, wink*
I love bully books too. I’d add Messed Up by Molly Owens to the list.
The “tolerable” bullies up there that I have read (meaning they only mildly irritated me) would be Edward, Christian, Garrett (The Deal), Rush (Fallen Too Far) and Lhan (Golden Dynasty…my ovaries just exploded because of him…again).
But the major jerkface BUTTHEADS – but who I fell for anyways – would be Zsadist (though does anyone else feel like his slate was wiped so clean with his awesomeness that it’s hard to remember just how bad he was? No? Okay, maybe it’s just me then…), Lachlain (HLNO) and Barrons…ooooooh, was Barrons *frustrating* as all get out! But on the rare times where he showed his feelings for Mac, it was incredibly touching.
Ryder from the Fae Chronicle falls somewhere in between those two categories for me. He started out with Z, Lachlain and Barrons but by the last book his jerk-filled manhood disappeared somewhere up in his abdomen and that junk never dropped again. Just sayin’.
Ok, I think this is my favourite list ever π
And to contribute to it, I’ll add:
-The Manipulation Trilogy (1.Corrupted 2.Warped 3.Avowed) by by Alicia Taylor, Natalie Townson
-Monster Stepbrother by Harlow Grace (I totally can’t wait for the next: Fearless Fighter)
-After series by Anna Todd
-Rival (in the Bully-Fall Aways Series) by PenΓ©lope Douglas
-next PenΓ©lope Douglas’s book (I think it’s coming in Fall 2015): Corrupt
-Unforgiven by Elizabeth Finn
-The Devil Behind me – Evangelene
-All About You by Joanna Mazurkiewicz
I’ve read OnDublinStreet series by Samantha Young and I totally recommend them (you have to read them), but I’d never label them like bully books
Therapy is about bullying!
Elite by Rachel Van Dyken is a good bully book. Love the whole Eagle Elite series by her.
OMG, how did I forget Elite? Thank you for the reminder, Bev A!
Ah! and of course
Degradation (The Kane Trilogy Book 1) by Stylo FantΓ΄me
Ooooooo, Marlie, that was a good one!!! The Love & Hate series….one of my favorites. I just recommended this series a few weeks ago to someone who posted on Maryse’s FB, asking for a good YA series. I told her not to curse me at the end of book 1…..DAMN….that was BRUTAL!!!
Underestimated series by Jettie Woodruff was a brilliant read!!
Forgot one! Dominic by LA Casey. I seriously wanted to punch him.
The latest one i read was A Pound of Flesh. Such a great book but Wes Carter definitely starts out as a bully!! It’s a must read… Great story, writing, angst… The whole package!!
There are some great reads on this list! I just finished Bound by Blood series by Cora Riley – LOVING the mafia vibe right now – anyone have a suggestion for another mafia series? thanks! β€οΈ
Sorry Cheryl, I didn’t see your post. Here is Maryse’s top bad boys, which include mafiia boys. Also, Nero by Sarah Brianne and Sempre by JM Darhowser are good Mafia books.
erm, the link. https://www.maryse.net/books/rock-stars-bad-boys/my-top-thirteen-most-illicit-bad-boys-misfits-mobsters-of-romance-books.html
Oh, think I must Add The Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Daemon Black is kind of a Bully and an #%^hole at the beginning, and then some others are too…..
This-Man-Trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas
Maybe “Tangled” by Em Wolf should be included in this list.
He is bully for sure and the heroine in this book is not spineless at all:))
I hate spineless heroines!
Thank you BBR it sounds awesome!
Please Maryse…I want many more bully books….
The Life of Anna series by Marissa Honeycutt…. so dark its black…
Alpha Bully (The Alpha Shifter Collection #5)
by Sam Crescent
Just discovered this site and your lists! Love it!!! Thank you!
Bully by Penelope Douglas and Too Far series by Abbi Glines are one of my favorite bully books/book series that I just adore.
Corrupt by Penelope Douglas is really great, the book has literally everything but I hated that Erika, the main heroine, didn’t stand up for herself at times.
Also Broken Love series by B. B. Reid is pretty good but even though it was already mentioned, I gotta say – it is really dark and I loved it and hated it at the same time.
The Lux series is EVERYTHING. If you are searching for a book that has a bully, like Keiran, from Broken Love, then it ain’t gonna do it for ya. Daemon is kind of a bully but mostly for the first bigger part of the first book.
Another book to add to this list: Paper Princess by Erin Watt and Elle Kennedy. I loved loved this book so much. It reminded me of the Made Men series (Nero & Vincent), the Eagle Elite series and Cruel intentions all mixed together in one book = Pure Bliss.
“Ella Harper is 17 years old with no parents so Callum Royal takes on the role of her guardian and moves Ella into his house with his 5 sons. The Royal guys are immediately not a fan of Ella. She comes from a different world and upbringing, barely able to make ends meet and seeming less savory than what their prestigious staus grants them. They plan to make sure Ella is reminded of this at all times. Reed, the leader of the Royal pack, has the influence to make her life miserable.”
The book is AMAZING. I loved it!
And I’m back here… because this is my home base. I love my jerk face bullies. Eenie, meenie, miney, moe… I should be embarrassed about how many times I have read Bully and Until You (Jared’s POV).
Grey I LOVE bully books… they are one of my favorite genres. How someone could hate someone else so much, dread seeing them, and a twist of fate makes it so that they become SO close. WOW I LOVE that change in dynamic. It has an even greater effect though, if the bullying is realistic and lasts nice and long in the story.
Grey, I loved Bully but haven’t read Until You yet, but have had it for a long time!
OMG Jean!!! Read it!!! I’m abusing exclamation points right now, and I don’t even care! I loved Until You even more than Bully! Bully actually only got a 4.5 star rating from me, but Until You got a full 5 star rating!!! Oh hell, now I am going to have to go and read it again! Oh you simply have to read it!!! Jared’s take on everything… it’s… pretzel tummy jerkface angsty brilliance at it’s best!!!
Haha Grey! Ok maybe I will read that tonight…..I’m in a bit of a book slump at the moment…….
Maryse, have *YOU* read Until You?? because girl, it’s an experience!
Try reading F*ck Love by Tarryn Fisher.
try The Contract by Melanie Moreland
I loved the bullying in it π
Hi,
I really like bullying books but only based around high school and I would like to know any suggestions you might have.
Xoxo
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40919214-the-peer-and-the-puppet?ac=1&from_search=true
I’m recommending this to you. Bully romance with dark tones, the characters are still in school. The H and his brothers are major jerks and the h doesn’t take his or his brothers crap she fights back. I’m so excited for the second one to come outππ
Book 2 of The peer and the puppet from B.B. Reid came out this month
Hi! I’m new here =) Thank you, Maryse for creating this community! My friends do share the same enthusiasm that I have with these hotties! Glad to have found your site =)
Just finished Untouchable and Peer and the Puppet!! Used to be hooked with Alpha brooding heroes but now…I think bullies are hotter!! <3 Am having some trouble digesting the first encounter in Untouchable though. I love Carter but I don't know if it's right…?
YAY Kat!!!! I’m so glad you’re with us, and it is pretty exciting to see a character go from an infuriating jerk to loving.
I haven’t read Untouchable yet (and am nervous especially after the warnings for the start of it…) Eeeeeeeeeep!!!
U are awesome
Ooh this is my joy right now.
Please add Cruel Intentions by Siobhan davis!
There is a four book series of books about Drew Leighton and bullying in high school. There is a romance between Drew and his best friend. The books deal with important bullying issues in a format easy to read for adults or readers as young as high school.

Ah, *tosses some glitter*, settles into the blankie fort with Godiva and Manny.
Let’s see. I’d add The Devil’s Night series by Penelope Douglas (Corrupt, Hideaway and Kill Switch; Nightfall will be coming in 2020) Also Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas. The Secret Girl and The Ruthless Boy by CM Stunich is also a good addition in here. Dirty Headlines by LJ Shen. The Fallen Crest series by Tijan, was that on here? Because that’s a definite… Cruel Prince and Wicked King by Holly Black (I haven’t read Queen of Nothing yet…but I expect nothing less than spectacular there too!) How about book 2…my absolute favorite…The Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas.
Now, I’m going to make my Christmas list…hope Santa is good to me… <3
AWESOME!! I’ll add these in Grey. π
If you love bully, you have to read Amo Jones! Start with her Elite King’s Club series. It was my intro into the genre and she hooked me. She’s one of the few one-clicks I have and after The Silver Swan (Elite King’s book 1) I bought ALL her other books
Have you read sanity siphoned? Itβs a book i read on wattpad. Its a bully romance and I loved it. Donβt remember the author right now.
Hey, there! Great content! I’ve actually read some of this and have added others in my reading list. I just wanted to reccomend the bullied series by Vera Hollins. It contains 5 books (3 couple story). The first three is of Sarah and Hayden. The titles are: Bullied, Pained and Damaged. The fourth book is about Blake and Jessica and its titled: Trapped. The last book in this series is about Melissa and Mason and its titled: Scarred. It’s a great read. I absolutely love it! Highly recommended if u liked the listed books here.
Thank you Lana! I just looked them up and will be adding these to tomorrow’s “Friday Finds” post. I LOVE the covers!!
