Crazy Good
Okay I’m gonna totally cliché out by saying (’cause I just can’t help myself) π “Crazy Good is CRAZY GOOOOOOOD!!!!” I know probably every good review of this book (and it’s brother) starts with that very sentence but… I just… couldn’t have said it any better myself.
WOW! This book has it ALL and with just enough detail for every phase of this story to have me connecting. Affecting every one of my senses. Now to be fair, it already seemed to have everything going for it from that start. I couldn’t help but move it to the top of my TBR list when:
- I heard this was about Navy SEALS <– (confession: I’ve never read one before. *gasp* Β And yet, I love the idea of them SO much. No idea why I waited. “Mav” and Stone, and Steve… and crew were all sorts of cocky, bad-ass, dirty-mouthed AWESOME!).
- I heard this was a tearjerker <— always a plus! That means I’ll be feeling…
- So many of my trusted fellow readers were loving it <— there was just an all-out honest heartfelt outpouring of love for this one (and boy you guys weren’t kidding!!!)
Kandace: Iβm reading a new release called Crazy Good by Rachel Robinson. Iβm really liking it. Heβs a play boy Navy seal and she just ended an engagement with her cheating ex fiance. Iβm enjoying their chemistry and banter. The prologue really sets the emotions. You already know his secret and the rest of the book youβre left waiting for the bomb to drop. This is an easy sexy read.
Jessica:Β IΒ found another SEAL book to put on your list Maryse. I have a feeling this is going to keep me up all night. Canβt stop reading π
Maryse:Β Yep. Iβm going to read it ASAP!Β Β *squee!!!*
Suzanne:Β Just read Crazy Good, definitely worth trying, have the kleenex ready!
Lori:Β I finished Crazy Good this morning, it was very good, sexy.
Whitney:Β Maryse, Crazy Good was CRAZY FREAKIN GOOD. Must read for sure!!!
Yvette: Just finished Crazy Good by Rachel Robinson!! It’s crazy good couldn’t put it down!!! Maryse it has everything we want and love wrapped nicely in this story!!! PS make sure you have plenty of tissues bc y’all will most likely ugly cry!!! I know I did!!!
Maryse: I’m reading it as we speak!
Yvette: Eeeek!!! Keep me posted!!!!
Melissa: agreed!! buddy read this with Yvette and I really enjoyed it!
Maria: …I cried but so worth the tears!! definitely read it!!
And the blurb started off this way: “Before there were bikers, or fighters, or even good old-fashioned jerks, there were Navy SEALs. They put the bad in badass because, wellβ¦itβs their job.” Well if that’s not a “book-alpha” challenge, I don’t know what is! π How could I resist?? <— SOLD!!!!!!! Yep I totally one-clicked it.
And I LOVED it. Almost every single second of it (with maybe a tiny slow-ish “lull” in the “comfort zone” in the middle). But I promise you. You don’t stay comfortable for long.
What do I mean by this book has everything?
1.) It has alphas. Those “real-feeling” bad-asses, in their “off time” bein’ bad boys in the bars. HIM (“Mav”) setting his sights on his best friend’s wife’s newly-single best friend. <— Er…what? You’ll figure it out. π LOL!
2.) It has that teasing push and pull when it’s so obvious they’re attracted to each other, but all he wants is one thing. And that’s also sorta what she wants (’cause GOD just LOOK at him… *swooooon*).Β He’s huge, tattooed…
He is perfect. He probably knows how perfect he is and that is the number one thing that I do not want or need in a man. Not that he’d have plain ole’ me anyways.
and dimpled. <— Enough said. π
Mr. Sexy meets my gaze. I suck in a sharp breath when he rakes his eyes over my body once and then again. A predatory smile creeps it’s way up the lower part of his face. Dimples. Two of them – one one each side. They aren’t cute either, like little boys with dirt smeared on their faces. These dimples are hot. What makes them smolder is that they don’t go with the rest of him. The juxtaposition of the dimples on something so unfathomably masculine is… mouthwatering.
*mini swoon*. Okay I lied. I just TOTALLY swooned. BIG TIME!
Yep, he’s got all that… sure, but her pride (and disgust of all things “men” lately) keeps her fight alive. Which only further encourages him. “Challenge ACCEPTED!”.
“Mav Hart is bad news. Stay away from him. I wouldn’t fix you up with him unless you were my mortal enemy.
Er…. that doesn’t help at all. That just adds fuel to the lusty fire! GAH!!! Her reaction when she is suggested a fix up with someone more “tame”?
Tame. Ugh. I don’t want tame.
*giggle* π
But you know how it goes. There’s just something about her, which brings out that “something about him” that proves to be so much more than his hotness. More than his Navy SEAL-ness. And the defenses come down.
3.) And it has that BIG emotion and those delicious stomach butterflies! Ahhhhhhh and there you will find even more *oooooomph* But that time is limited. This crew of SEALS will be deployed in just a few more weeks bringing on…
4.) That oncoming angst! That dreaded goodbye, potentially stealing what they just started.
“Never say goodbye,” he demands. His smile fades. “I’m making my own rules. Never say goodbye. That’s rule number one.”
5.) And MORE FEELS!!! OMG SOOOOOO many more feels. And that’s just the start.
I felt it all. From the attraction to the intensity to the countdown to goodbye, the anxiety… all of it.
Maryse’s Book Blog: “On the second half of the book I started yesterday, and OMG is it good!Β I am ***** right now. Just *****. <— This book has everything. “Crazy Good” is crazy good!”
side note: what am I censoring, hrmmm…? π Was I loving it? Was I swooning? Was I scared? Was I devastated? Was I furious? Was I worried. Was I anxious? Was I crying? Freaking out? In love? <—- ALL of these apply, but IΒ won’t say which one, in this instance. π
Whitney: Loved it SO much!!!!
Amy: I bawled my f-ing eyes out! It’s amazing!
Jillian: I read this book…..so very good!!
Yvette: Eeek so glad your loving it!!!! Told ya it had EVERYTHING!!!!!! It’s CRAZY GOOD!!!!!!
Jessica: Loved that book!
Nadia: I’m halfway through and loving it!!
Lori: Yes, it’s really good! Unexpected tears
Melissa: loved, loved it..and cried some crazy tears…its a standalone
Kandace: Me! I loved it. I made all my book peeps read it. I loved how she gave us his secret in the prologue. It made the story so much more intense. I kept waiting for it. Then when it happened, I was so surprised everything that went down. I couldn’t believe it. I was shocked and very ******.
Sarah: Just loved it, like Kandace Lovedbooks, I was waiting in suspense for the “bomb” to drop but cried my eyes out in those last chapters of the book. Full of ***** ******!
And then I told my husband all about it. Especially the “mission”. I knew he’d like that part, and then we analyzed all sorts of that part. There was even one scene that I described… a certain look of concern that was so perfectly described that he said, “Oh yeah, that’d translate really well on the big screen.” Agreed!!
So all that to say, SO well written, well paced, well explored and it played out like a movie in my mind. It wasn’t OMG most perfect book ever (’cause sometimes I wish I only had her POV so I could stress the heck out even more. But then again… HIS POV was VERY necessary at some point in this story so I “get” the need for it…), but it was OMG perfect Sunday read (I had a blast with this one!) and I’m still thinking about it. I dunno. There was just something about it, that had me. It just felt… complete. Like I said, it had it all.
And for that, for all of the feels (the crush-rush, the intensity of the emotions – no matter what they were, the connections, the mistakes, the cuteness, the laughter, the tears <— I’m keeping quiet on that part π ), and the love story as a whole (and boy did I love him!!)…
I’m giving it 4.5 stars!
Being with Maverick is like sharing him with everyone. There’s no flying low on any radar. He owns everything surrounding him.
Yep. He owned me, too.
This review is fabulous. Thank you so much Maryse. CYBER HUGS! XX
Well the book was fabulous! This was an immediate one-click (I didn’t even sample it first) that I’m thrilled about! π
Navy Seal….
I couldn’t even finish my comment above first before my mind had me “one clicking” first. : )
Great review! I definitely agree with your rating. I’m a sucker for a huge alpha badass! When I got teary eyed during the first chapter, I knew it was going to be a good read.
The tear soaked head of her little dog….mush I tell you!
Goose! π
Georgia, your first comment made me giggle. I pretty much had that same reaction… π
Completely agree with your review:) I’m in a book induced coma and I have no clue what I’m going to read next to try and top maverick. I cried ,I laughed ,I swooned oh how did I swoon , I was completely posest. I’ll never be able to hear navy seal and not imagine maverick.
Just finished this one up last night at midnight because I could NOT put it down (I may end up getting fired from work!). I loved, loved, loved it! I had added it to my wish list because I always have to get up my “courage” to read books that may cause ugly crying and boy did I. ugggggllly. cry. I highly recommend this one….5+ stars for Mav and Windsor.
