The Score (Off-Campus) (Volume 3)
Yep! This one’s my favorite in the series. The Deal (Off-Campus Book 1) still rocks my world but this one had my emotions in a whirlwind and every emotion I felt, I FELT HARD. The wit, the laughs, the romance, the steam, the pain, and the interactions between the main characters and the secondary characters in this series are second to none.
Linda: Finished The Score last night. WOW. It. Was. Amazing. And Dean and Allie? Well I just fell in love with both. Lots and lots of feels that I didn’t expect. Oh and so happy “Winston” got a little notoriety!!! Guys I prooooomise this will be a 5* read for you too!!! No idea what to read now!!! Not ready to let go of Dean.;)
Cheryl: Finished The Score. I *had* to re-read/skim the previous 2 books first to remind myself about the characters/events and about Dean and once I looked at the books I got sucked in to re-reading them again. Loved this book. Dean, Dean, Dean- what an interesting, more layered than the bad-boy manwhore I thought he was from the previous books. Had funny (OMG the bathroom scene-LOL), sad and real life situations that the previous books did not encounter and a different kind of ending. Now anxiously awaiting Tucker’s book.
Fabi: I stayed up and finished The Score last night too. For maybe the millionth time, I’m going today how much I love Elle Kennedy’s books. Every time I read one I feel like I’ve gone on a happy holiday.
DG: The Score was another winner by Elle Kennedy. I laughed a lot – surprised my hubs didn’t question what was so funny. *sniff, sniff*
MichelleS: Maryse, did you read The Score? Best one so far in that series! …He is the perfect book boyfriend. Every time he opens his mouth I fall harder for him. That’s what I want in a fluff book – good banter.
Maryse: MichelleS I’m reading The Score right now and LOVING it. ABSOLUTELY IN! You guys are going on too much about The Score … and it is PERFECT for me (well… so far). LOVING.
Maria: Omg…..!!!!! I just finished The Score last night and absolutely loved it! Dean *sigh.
Jackie: I just finished reading The Deal and The Mistake just last night! Now I need to dive into The Score this week! Can’t believe I didn’t discover these books sooner. What was I thinking passing them up on my to read pile for far to long!
Jody: I just finished The Score and loved it. Dean rocked!! The whole series is a 5 star read. Favourite go to series by far. Can’t wait for Tuckers book… and the boys reaction to the news. *Wiggles eyebrows* Hahahaha
Erica: I love Elle’s writing especially her humor! So far my favorite is The Score
Sharon: I am so immersed in “The Score” by Elle Kennedy I can’t even pay attention to any new reads. These characters and this series is really good and fun.
This book is authentically and thoroughly detailed, but without being burdened by those details. It’s just… living (but so much fun for the reader).
- I laughed so much!! This is what these books are known for. The clever, witty, sometimes sarcastic and often silly-disastrous antics these bad boy hockey players find themselves in, made me wish I could be a part of their group.
- I felt like I was part of a true-life group of friends. Believable (often hilarious) dialogue, thoughts and actions that I could “see”, as if I was right there with them. Oh and don’t get me started on the AMAZING family members (even those that aren’t there anymore) that had me in awe over how this author is able to capture “real life” and relationships, so poignantly. OMG her father was one of the most convincing “fathers” I have ever read. “Of course”. 😉 😛
- It made me SO jealous, and I was loving my “fume”. Definitely an OH NO HE DIDN’T moment, and I was right there with her.
- It hurt me badly on a few occasions… very serious moments, very realistic reactions and consequences amidst such a fun and close-knit crew.
- And the messages… there were a few, that turned this into a well-rounded, meaningful jaunt, that was more than just a funny steam-fest. There was substance to this read.
OMG I AM IN LOVE with this book, with the series, with Dean. Oh yes. DEAN. *sigh*
He is ALMOST perfect… in his perfectly imperfect bad-boy (but really good too) ways. Cocky, gorgeous, self-assured, wealthy (and yet not overly cocky about that which makes him even better), smart (but can really mess up his school-stuff too), talented (but not an over-achiever). But best of all, he’s a total goof, without even meaning to be. THEY ALL ARE and it’s so freaking endearing!!!
Maryse: *snort* I’m laughing so hard I’m crying… and I couldn’t help myself… I totally read the whole “bathroom scene” (The Score) to my mom. And now she’s snorting. 😛 Tee hee!!!! :D!!! and now I’m re-reading it ’cause it’s so darn funny!!!!!!!!! I. Am. DYING. LOL!!!!!
Grey: I finished The Score. Oh dear… that bathroom scene *giggle, snort, tears*. I liked it! I still liked The Deal better, but it was a solid read. I am wicked intrigued to see where she takes it for Tucker’s story though… wow, what a nugget to drop on us at the end there!
Jaime: A week later and I’m still laughing at that part!
Bethany: Haha! That part was epic! I love the guys razzing him all week about it. 🙂
Maryse: LOL!!!!!! That scene was as unforgettable as the red-velvet couch scene… *snort*
Veronica: This one was my favourite! Laughed so hard got funny looks from hubby lol! Enjoy!
Kim: You are making me download it right now!!!!! It’s never going to end well with me staring a book at 10:45 at night…. It’s all your fault, cause I really need a funny book!
Maryse: I love it when it’s my fault!!! 😛
Jennifer: I finished it the other day. I don’t typically read college books since I am 42, but I do sometimes based on author and reviews. I have read all three of these and they are hilarious. The friends interactions and quips with each other are great! Both the red velvet couch and bathroom scene were so funny. Her “list” was the best!
Kim: That part was absolutely hysterical! I went back and read it again since it was the best! Poor Dean~ not really HAHAHAHAHA
*snort* I’m still laughing (and that wasn’t the only funny part). The author is a comedy-romance genius when it comes to setting a scene (early on) and just when you don’t see it coming… *BOOM*!!!! AWE.SOME.NESS. You will be in tears (and it’s the best kind of tears). Laughing until you cry. Eh… come to think of it, she’s an “old-school/indie-new-adult” author genius. ‘Cause EVERYTHING we fell in love with in our early indie new-adult discovery days, is what you’ll be feeling here. It’s incredible how she’s captured that “old school” magic, and keeps releasing winner after winner!
Okay so what’s it about?
Kind of the same as the others in a way (but even if the “roll-out” is similar, each story, each set of characters, and each journey is its own). College kids (namely, the college hockey team) and the “good girls” that know the bad-boy college jock’s reputations (and Dean’s is the worst of all),
Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis is the biggest flirt on the planet. Every time I see him he’s trying to get in my pants. And I can’t even feel special about it, because he tries to get in everyone’s pants.
and so for her own sense of self-preservation, she does her best NOT to tangle with him. In fact, she’s mourning her very-recent breakup with her long time boyfriend, so the last thing she needs is a guy like Dean.
It really is a shame. Someone this douchey shouldn’t be allowed to look this good.
Of course, circumstances force them together (that’s always fun) and while they quip at each other and resist, the attraction is there and the slow burn (or fast-steam WITH slow burn) begins.
“You didn’t do anything stupid when she was here, did you?” Garrett’s tone is lined with suspicion.
I f**ked her twice. So… yes?
Tee hee!!!!
Because while she might not be his “type” and while HE is to be avoided at all costs if she doesn’t want to be a victim of a bad-boy’s “love ’em and leave ’em” philosophy, once they get to know each other as friends (by accident) they realize there is SO much more to them, and the attraction hits hard. But so does the denial.
…he strips off his sweater, leaving him in nothing but faded blue jeans. I stare at him in disbelief.
“Did you really just take off your shirt?”
“Yeah. I don’t like shirts.”
He doesn’t like shirts. This guy… goddamn it, I don’t even know what I think of him.
FUN TIMES!!!
Because… it’s all in their interactions. Their “getting to know you stage” is SO MUCH FUN!!!!! The guys being “guys”, the teasing banter…
“Dude,” I blurt out. “It’s not what it looks like.”
“Nope, nope, nope, I don’t want to know!”
*snort* 😛
It’s just… everything. From the guy “Twilight” conversations, to the late-night margaritas and soap-opera watching, to the bathroom scene, to the sweet after school coaching scenes… you just have to read it, and you’ll get what I mean. There is NO skimming here, because it’s all just perfect.
OMG seriously… my friends. PLEASE READ THIS SERIES if you haven’t!!! And if you still need to get to this book, GET TO IT! It will take you out of your book-slump (if you’re in one), or will simply entertain you to no end. This book is not just read… it’s lived.
5 stars! EASILY. This is my perfect read.

LOVE this book (and what a great review, as well!)!! Oh, the feels! And that bathroom scene was definitely snort-giggle worthy. My favorite little “quirk” through the story is the soap opera, though. The way Dean gets sucked into it is just hilariously real & everyone can relate! : )
Amazing review Maryse!! It’s a five star review for me too!! Dean, Allie and Winston are nothing like the others!!
Yes! This book is perfect! I love Dean! Its my favorite from the series. Great review Maryse 😀
I loved the book and it was laugh out loud funny, often! But did I miss why he has sex everywhere but in his room?
What a perfect review! It’s been a long time since I wanted to reread a series right after I finished it. I know I will before Tucker’s book. The scene with Dean, Allie and Beau where he wasn’t asleep – made me laugh out loud. The chemistry was off the charts too. I love that we still get the characters we love throughout. And throw is a good cry too. I still stand by my five star rating!
So agree Maryse. I loved this book and this author is one of my favs!!
Great review and I totally agree Maryse…. 5 heart swoony stars for me too.
I love how Elle can have us belly laughing one minute (think bathroom scene) and just gutted the next. Its slightly schizophrenic but I love it.
This book, of the series, has the most serious emotional gut wrench….its done well. Real tears were shed. 😉
I agree Lisa…loved all three so far but by far this one had the most serious emotional gut wrench. I might still be in denial….
Have to agree with everyone on the AWESOME 5 star read for the Score! Elle Kennedy never disappoints! I think my best read to date!
Anyone know if this book is lendable?
Has anyone read her military series?
Maryse, I love your review. It’s exactly how I felt reading The Score too. A super easy 5 stars.
Jennifer, yes, you missed it. It was explained. But I can’t give it away here.
I Love the off campus series just going to start reading “The Score” I’m just upset that there is no audible for this book. The first two have the audible and I was able to go back and forth. Will an audible be coming out for The Score?
I’m sure it will Isabel. This is an indie-release so the audible will probably be releases later. It’s usually the releases that are with big publishers that have a simultaneous audiobook release.
Awesome, awesome, awesome review! Loved this book so much and agree, Dean really did it for me! One of the best series hands down!
