Until It Fades: A Novel
Oh my my my my myyyyyyyy!!!! This book was my absolute perfect read. FIVE STARS PLUS!!!
I mean, how can I possibly resist a story about a single mom that comes across an accident and literally saves a man? That sounds awesome in itself, but what about this kicker? She finds out that he’s a hugely famous hockey star (and also the son of an Oscar winning legend of an actress), and now everyone wants to know about her. Especially him. GAH!!!
The exciting story build up before “anything” happens was so addicting. I was hooked from the very first page, and that whole intro made me GASP!!!! And it wasn’t even the accident part, yet! This was one of those that I could not put down, and didn’t want to end. The butterfly inducing reality that your famous- star crush might just be crushing back, but it’s SO much better than that.
Northernstar: Hello Maryse. I just finished “Until it Fades” by K.A. Tucker and i enjoyed it so much and it was such a great read! It had a little bit of everything I love in a story; a strong heroine, a sassy funny as hell kid, a sexy h, great supporting characters, ands the story (she saves his life and he’s famous). The story had me tearing up one minute and laughing the next. I would love to read more from this group of characters in the future. K.A. are you listening?
Leslie: I looooooved Until it Fades. I don’t usually like slow-burnish types, but this one was not at all boring or long winded…perfectly paced and fabulous and swoony.
Maryse: BOOK UPDATE!!! I’m reading “Until It Fades” by K.A. Tucker, and this book is AWESOME!!!!! Soooooooooo much more than the impression I got from the blurb (which was awesome in itself. Totally gave me a blurb jolt) and WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!! THIS… wow. It is deep, and intense, and has so much more than what you expect is going to happen. I’m in love with it. And now back to it.
Julie O: Maryse I read Until It Fades right after it came out and loved it too. Good idea for a story.
Celinka: This was one of favorites this year, it’s sooo good!
Syd: I had some teenager’s from work at the library and this beauty was staring at me. My intial thought was how did I miss that one before now. I read it one sitting, literally couldn’t put it down. it.
Angela: FYI I finished this one and it was AMAZING thank you so much for recommend it!!
Oh it was AMAZING, Angela. I totally get why this one was so loved by those that read it. As much as I already enjoy this particular trope (famous star/normal girl), this one goes above and beyond. There’s just SO much more to it, and every single bit of it, intoxicating.
From getting to know her in her own life (her own bracing backstory – wait until you read that!),
I force a smile and pull myself to my feet, trying in vain to ignore that voice in the back of my head, screaming at me.
Telling me how badly I’ve f**ked up my life.
to the whole accident scene,
A voice inside my head screams at me to run, to get back home safe and sound to Brenna. That I’ve done all that I can do and now it’s time to save myself.
I reach in to grasp the far side of his waist. “Wake up! I need you to wake up!” I cry, tugging on his massive body, earning his grunt but nothing more. I’m probably hurting him, I could be causing damage, but I don’t have a choice. It’s nothing compared to what the flames will do.
her best friends, her not-so-best-friends, her family dynamics, her sweet little daughter, the press, paparazzi, the interviews, her life changing significantly (in good ways and in bad),
“Exactly. He’s a pretty big deal to the media.” I feel his eyes flickering to me. “And you just saved his life. So we can withhold your name, but that mess back there? You’re not going to be able to avoid it forever. They’re vultures, and your fifteen minutes of fame are coming whether you like it or not.”
and of course, his world colliding with hers.
…Brett Madden is standing in the front door of my tiny ramshackle rental cottage, and I am in a pair of two-sizes-too-big gray track pants and a graphic cotton T-shirt with Grumpy Cat on the front, and my hair is pulled into a messy bun on top of my head, and I am going to kill Officer Keith Singer for surprising me like this.
All of that, plus… how they become friends (and maybe more 😉 ). AND! There was an interesting little twist.
Oh my friends, there is SO much more to tell you, but I went in blind other than knowing she saved a famous hockey player and every step of the way was a delightful surprise to uncover. There’s no way I can put into words… just how much more amazing this book is than you even realize. It sounds so good, right? But it’s even better than that!
A heartwarming, heady, provocative read, brimming with butterflies-in-your-tummy feels.
