Zane’s Tale: A Succubus Diaries Short
The perfect little short story to hold me over while I await the next installment in the series. Now, to be honest, it was over quick. But there is a part that makes you forget it’s almost over, and let’s you just live in that moment.
Thank you, Jill. Thank you. Somehow you telepathically picked up on my need for a little more “Zane” time, and you provided it 😉 . Not only did we get a little snippet of Zane’s current life without Jackie, but we felt him. Poor Zane. I heart him even more now. WOW *sigh*.
Zane misses Jackie. Badly.
Was she happy? Sad? Was she even thinking about him? These were the answeres he wanted, and he wasn’t above spying in windows to get them. Jackie would never have to know he stopped by – nor would Nitocris. Quick and brief, and take the edge off his longing for her.
Zane hates Noah (cause Noah gets to stay with Jackie). But Zane will do anything – ANYTHING – to keep Jackie safe, and sacrifice anything (even his own happiness), to make sure Jackie is happy.
She’d loved him. That love and faith in him made serving Nitocris unbearable.
But he’d endure, because it kept Jackie safe.
This is an evening in Zane’s life, where he continues to serve and obey his queen, Nitocris, play the role of her obedient prince, and venture out into the evening with his so-called “friends” to convince everyone that he still is, who he once was.
For four thousand years, he’d willingly – and gratefully – served at her feet. Took every command as if it was his own desire, sought to anticipate her needs before she ever requested them. Her demands had been his own. He had been the queen’s loyal and devoted prince. And somewhere in the last year…it had all changed.
Loved it. That’s all I can give you. Cause it’s just one short evening with Zane…burdened. Burdened by the love in his heart, the good in his soul, and the true evil that commands him.
Tonight, I’m gonna read Jackie’s story of the night leading up to be turned into a “succubus” (Foreplay: A Succubus Diaries Prequel). Yessssss!! I’ve been dying to get a play by play of that.
5 stars!
See I knew you would love it, we have had so many Z to Z conversations. I am reading it now.
I ♥ Zane. Loved the short story featuring him 🙂
Hee hee! Why did I suddenly get the urge to growl and hoard “Zane”? *blush*
I swear I heard from across the state a very loud “MINE!” hehehehe
