Lover Reborn: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood
I finally just hit the 50% mark and I’m so into this book. We all know I LOVE Alpha males and I think THIS is the series that started me on ’em. The way these guys speak, their ‘tude, everything about them. PURE MALE!!! Over the course of the years she has written this series, these guys stay true, feel real, and I’m right back at home with them.
It took a bit, getting back into the world and fluctuating between three different stories. I was finding myself missing the old days, when I first discovered this series. You know… when it seemed an entire book centered pretty much on one couple, mostly just the one story, and you could completely lose yourself in them?
Or maybe I’m fooling myself? If I were to go back and re-read all of the first BDB’s, would I realize that this has been J.R.’s formula all along? I’m curious, now. I’ll admit I struggle somewhat with re-visiting John Matthew and Xhex again. I liked their book, but wasn’t quite in the mood to go there again. If we’re going to revisit other couples… I’m totally up for that, and I’d like to suggest a few. 😉
And I struggled even more with Xcor and crew. Just like I used to get irritated when the story would switch to the Lesser’s world and POV, I find I’m grumbling a bit when we switch to Xcor. Apparently, I want all Tohr, all Wellsie and all… well whatever Tohr’s future holds. 😉
Anyhow… It is ALL coming together now. I still don’t love switching when I’m finally back in Tohr mode, but all of the stories intrigue me enough to keep me entertained well enough.
I hate having to put this down to deal with my daily responsibilities. I spent the evening reading late into the night and then I spent my night dreaming of Tohr and his story. It would seem I’m hooked. Much more then I was with Manny and Payne’s book. THIS ONE HAS ME. So far (at 50%), my heart is fluttering being away from my book. I’m in withdrawal mode as I write this. I mean… I stayed up late with them, should be so exhausted this morning (and I sort of am) but I am so adrenalized that I forgot to have coffee this morning!! FORGOT! I can’t wait for my work day to be complete, and for me to be back with the boys.
Oh and… I’m slightly disappointed to realize that an ongoing “Qhuay” storyline is somewhat lacking. It sort of started… and then *poof*. No more? Well, here’s hoping the next 50% will satisfy my curiosity! Back to work for me for now, and then back to my DO NOT DISTURB sign, tonight. YAY!!!
Oh and by the way… the do not disturb part does not apply to my fellow readers. This is just me letting you know where I’m at (and why I’m so quiet) 😉 Email or comment allllll you want! Just remember, I’m not finished the book yet, so no spoilers, please.
I just finished it!!!! loved it!
Do you know how many book it will be in this series?
No idea Carla… but more. Maybe even many more. She has lots of things seemingly lined up. 🙂 Love this author!
Sheila! So glad you loved it!!!
I am 27% according to my Kindle. I was so excited to get this book, been waiting for months. I downloaded it on early Tuesday morning, but had a remorse almost for having it. I am not sure why, but maybe because it will be another year before I can relish in another J.R. Ward Black Dagger brother book. I love this series. I have had some trouble even like her Fallen Angels series…or any fallen angels series. I believe Throe and Xcor and the rest are going to be an interesting mix to the story lines. I am kinda feeling bad for Scribe Virgin right now because not a soul seems to the with her on the Other Side…she seems saddened and lonely…
ohhh man the dress and tohr…. man talk about crying!!! my husband said “REALLY??? i would rather you read your porn then sit here and cry” love you too honey! haha
ohhh and im an gonna snatch that picture you posted about reading lover reborn and to not disturb!! lol
Oh YES Brandy!! I HAD to take a break at that part and post on my Facebook. One of the saddest scenes ever in a JR Ward book. EASILY a crying scene!!
Barbara… I know. I wonder what’s going to happen with that whole Scribe Virgin thing.
Finished it last night.
Dying to talk about it!
Also, if I hadn’t re-read Lover Unleashed on Monday…. I wouldn’t have understood a couple of plot points. Another freaking issue about waiting a freaking year between books. So much time has passed I have to re-read to figure out where the heck we left off.
@Barbara I agree on the Xcor, BoB adding interesting antiheros to the mix.
I’m only at 30%, but I’ve got to say – I just love Lassiter. I’ve missed his wise cracks in the last couple of books, and so it’s good to see him back. I heard a rumour that he may be getting his own book soon (maybe even the next one). But so far that’s uncomfirmed by the Wardster. Although I’m really aching for the Blay/Qhuinn story.
Anyone know who the main characters are in her next book??
I finished this a couple hours ago. It’s funny how sometimes you read a book that is 200 or so pages and you keep thinking ack is it over soon, or you say screw it and go read the end. BUT this book 650 pages or something crazy went by so fast! Almost to fast. And for some weird reason i like Xcor and his BoB. I dont like what they are doing but for the bad guys she did a really good job making them likable. I have a growing list of people i want/hope get a book!!!!!
Throe. Yes… That little part I did enjoy. He has potential to be a true brother.
And ohhh okay, fine. Zyphyr too. Okay and the Scottish sounding guy. Maybe him. Okay… And mayyyyybe Xcor. Hehehe 😉
It zigs and zags some but you’ll be pleased by the end:)
It’s aaaages since I read Lover Unleashed and before I start LR, tell me – honestly – is it worth re-reading LU first?
I’ve just finished and I really loved it, even the bits I knew where coming and were dreading, (don’t want to give to much away for those that haven’t finished)
just finished it !! i can’t wait till you finish this !!! i liked it a whole lot and by the end.. i was just …just.. overwhelmed.. lol
Yes… This ones not over till its over. I think it picked up speed at 60% and finished fast and packed with good stuff!
@Jane, no it rehashes some of LU in the beginning as a reminder sort of. You’d be ok!
Finished last night. I LOVED it. I LOVE this series. Crazy stuff happens close to the end. It answers some questions, and brings up others. Do the BoB eventually fold into the Brotherhood, and will those males get their own books? I didn’t realize how much I missed the brothers from a year ago. I think because I didn’t absolutely love LU. I really enjoyed the John/Xhex interaction, it feels like real life to me where it’s not just hearts and flowers after getting married. Tohr’s female is just OK for me, I didn’t feel as much for her as the other females, but the story works within the context. But seriously crazy stuff at the end!
So does anyone know who the next book is about?
@Kelly I just read on JR Ward’s facebook that it is Blay & Qhuinn out in 2013!!!!!!
@Roni I know i read it on her post!!! So excited
It was by luck that I stumbled upon Maryse’s blog, and thank the scribe virgin that I did. I have burnt through the pages of the whole series and WOW!!!!! Laughed cried and totally enjoyed. Lover Reborn amazing even to the end had me almost wetting my pants. If I had any complaint about the book it would be, give me more Lassiter and that fab cinical SOH. Loved the whole psychological aspect of the behaviour of the main characters. Oh and I so want to go take a dip with Tohr in that pool.
I love this series.. I am like you the twilight series got me started into the paranormal world, then it was Sookie, I even dabbled with the Lord of the Under World. I was introduced to the Black Dagger Brother Hood at work one day eating lunch with some older women who loved audio books. I never did those because I love the feel of the binding and the steel when they get old…but anyway . Karl’s one of my managers talked about how she almost attacked her husband reading one of the books. I think she was reading Rhage’s story. So I looked up J.R. Ward. I am a series type of reader so I like for the stories to continue on an grow and develope to something more. I downloaded the audible app and the first five books I think that was out. The voice took me to Caldwell,New York… I love this…have read them so much and anticipates the next book each year…
I love Lover Reborn, and have to say she got me at the end ..I was crying so hard during the fade ceremony not believing that she would take it all from him….Great ending, not sure what to expect from Quinn’s story but I am hooked……My favourite is like you Z’s book some of Phury but mostly the end when Z came to him after Nalla’s birth…that wizard got on my nerves..LOL!!!!
Best Series ever ….I am waiting for this to become a movie or series like True Blood…
