Oh YES YES YES!!! MichelleS brought this up today, and of COURSE, the majority of time, if I’m “feeling” the heroine, I almost feel like I BECOME the heroine. It’s me. But then, I thought again… and I realize… not quite. π

Do you cast yourself as female heroine? If I need a short, smart, sassy Brunette my go-to girl is Anna Kendrick. Love her sassy little self.Β I guess I could use Maryse too! Sheβs like a Anna Kendrick too! Ha! Amy can be in all my emotional YAs. But Iβm probably picturing her all wrong.

Β LOL!!! Do you know how often Kristen Ashley or Karina Halle has been her own heroine, in my head while reading their books? Or like for βUntil It Fadesβ by K.A. Tucker. Yep. K.A. Tucker was who I was seeing as the main character. Tarryn Fisher? Always the heroine in her books. In EVERY book, I see Tarryn (except for Dirty RedΒ β the cover model was easily the one to envision).
Tessa:Β I paint a picture of what I think the person looks like. Itβs never an actual person, just a specific person in my head. I think thatβs my problem when Iβm writing. I have a specific look in my head of someone Iβve never met, and thatβs who I keep searching for on Pinterest. lol, Itβs always an epic fail.
R: My go-to guys are #1 Josh Duhamel, #2 Diego Boneta, and if they donβt fit, Ian Somerhalder, Alexander SkarsgΓ₯rd, or Aaron Rodgers <βhe’s great for athletes! Girls are #1 Lily Collins (but she tends to morph into Nina Dobrev), Dianna Agron, Amanda Seyfried, & Elle Fanning. I can’t find a red head who will stick!
Maryse:Β My red heads are always Amy Adams (for that shy, distinguished redhead) or Isla Fisher for the goofy or obnoxious-but-bombshell redheadβ¦ or the cover model for Dirty Red… she has that “look” that fits SO many characters.
Or sometimesβ¦ me <β LOL!!! π I must indulge sometimes, right? Especially if I’m really connecting to the heroine AND the hero. Tee hee! And yes, I know many think I’m more brownish-haired β and I suppose that’s true now as I’ve gotten older, it has darkened, but I was born, and raised with very red/strawberry blonde hair. My nickname in elementary school was Pippi Longstockings (braids and all)
Β β¦ so yeah. *hrmph* So I’ve earned the right to play that part.Β

Thats funny! Actually, it’s rare for me to picture an actress/actor as the characters. I have lots of boards with different kinds o women and men in pinterest. So usully when I read their characteristics, I go there and look for someone who matches it. But I also have pictured the authors as the heroine too. Especially Tarryn Fisher and Karina Halle. Actually, Karina and her husband are my Perry and Dex. Lol

I’ll tell you why.
She was cute, and totally goofy (crushing on another chef that she was competing against), confident in what she could do, yet still down to earth… and I was watching this episode while I started the book, and the two (the heroine and the college-girl goofy chef on Chopped) were EXACTLY alike in personality and goofiness and cuteness, annoyingness, and free-spiritedness… and in my mind.. this is who she was.
Carla, I used to do that too, when I first started reading… I had a folder of people I wanted to “use” as characters… and when I’d choose one for a book, I’d leave all of their photos open full sized on my laptop, so I could glance and memorize as I read… SEE them more completely.
I can’t stand when I don’t have clear picture of mc’s in my head. I LOVE when authors post their inspiration and I will stalk their social media for pics. Oh and if book has a movie, I always picture the actors. Which is why I dont watch 50 Shades movie because Jamie Dornan is so NOT Christian to me that they may as well have used Pee Wee Herman.
I don’t picture myself or author as the h, but I often feel like I “know” the characters. Its weird, but they become real and feel like my friends or family. When I get that connection, that’s when I truly love a book.
I almost always have to have an H in my head, but sometimes the h can be vague. I hate it when there are cover models who mess with my casting! If I’m not into the cover model, I probably won’t pick up the book. I admitted on FB yesterday that Cory from Unbreakable was sort of a twisted version of Chip from Fixer Upper and boy I should have stayed tight lipped on that one! He was wayyyy hot in my head though. And way younger. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Sometimes I don’t have a choice and that was one of those times. Oh and Jav from An Exaltation of Larks. No matter how hard I tried, my brain was determined to cast Enrique Iglesias, which is probably why I was pro-Alex.
