<— Look what was just released today (from one of my “old-school paranormal” favorite series days). This was my first choice to suggest as a “What to read if you love the BDB…” had a similar feel, and had me swooning in all that alpha-vampire romance angst. Human women, with a “mark” that (unbeknownst to her) meant she was meant for one of these vamps. And this is the latest one!
What I’m currently reading? I have NO idea yet… I’m feeling all thriller-like, and there’s one below that has sparked my interest BIG time. I was still recovering from my latest much-loved read (p.s. here’s my review of Rush by Emma Scott), but I’m now ready to move on!! But consider this MY own personal recommendation today! 😀
What are you guys reading? Maybe this list’ll help, ’cause it’s got a nice variety of romance-angst feels. From our fighters, and scarred bad-boys, to a severe tear-jerker or two, to a “kidnap romance-thriller”, to a couple separated during WWII (and I think she’s sent to the camps), to a strict muslim girl in love with an American boy in her country (and her father DOES NOT approve! eeeeep!), to a series that one of my book-friends (actually many of my book friends) appeared to have LOVED like crazy, so now I’m REALLY curious…
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
EBOOK BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
- Bound to Darkness: A Midnight Breed Novel (The Midnight Breed Series Book 13) by Lara Adrian <— JUST RELEASED!!! (what to read if you love BDB)
- Dearest Clementine: Dearest Series by Lex Martin <— Tracie HIGHLY recommends this one (and Tracie and I have similar book-tastes so I need to read this!). She says: ” just read the Dearest series by Lex Martin and it was awesome. Dearest Clementine is book 1. Perfect angst and great story… my friends are loving it too! We were sad when it was over!”
- Punching and Kissing by Helena Newbury <— FIGHTER ALERT! Super-bargain priced… she has to learn to fight to save her brother…
- Gardens of Water: A Novel by Alan Drew <— WHOA! MUSLIM GIRL FALLING FOR AMERICAN BOY ALERT! Super bargain priced and sounds amazing! Her family is celebrating their young son, and their older daughter resents it. “For her, there was no such festive observance–only the wrapping of her head in a dark scarf and strict rules that keep her hidden away from boys and her friends. But even before the night of the celebration, İrem has started to change, to the dismay of her Kurdish father. What Sinan doesn’t know is that much of her transformation is due to her secret relationship with their neighbor, Dylan, the seventeen-year-old American son of expatriate teachers.“
- Finding Rebecca <— WWII SHE’S JEWISH & HE’S GERMAN & IN LOVE and they are separated as they are deported back to Europe… and “he volunteers for the Nazi SS, desperate to save the woman he loves. He is posted to Auschwitz and finds himself put in control of the money stolen from the victims of the gas chambers. As Christopher searches for Rebecca, he struggles to not only maintain his cover, but also the grip on his soul.” (P.S. It’s bargain priced!)
- The Scheme by Mia Kayla <— FAKE BOYFRIEND TO ATTRACT ANOTHER GUY ALERT! Just released a few days ago and… “Moving from her tiny town of Bowlesville to work as a nurse at New York Cornell Hospital, she is introduced to Dr. Hot Pants. She feels it in her bones—he only belongs to her. When Kendy formulates a grand scheme to land Dr. Hot Pants and uses Brian to do it, Brian is all in because he could use a little fun…“
- 47 Things by Lilliana Anderson <— SPENT HER LIFE TRYING TO HATE HIM UNTIL SHE FINALLY FELL INTO HIS SITES ALERT! Forty-seven was never going to be enough…“
- How To Save A Life (Emerald Cove Book 1) by Lauren K. McKellar <— MENTAL ILLNESS ALERT! Recently released and sounds full of anguish! “Lonely Lia. Little Lia. Lia the Liar. Lia the Lost … Now the choices are endless. But I don’t want to be any of those either.“
- Bad Son Rising by Julie A. Richman <— Lauren found us this one (bargain priced for just one more day today) saying: “Bad Son Rising by Julie A. Richman…. AND….a special bonus book included, Searching For Moore (ahhhh, Schooner Moore…LOVE HIM!!). Bad Son Rising is actually about the son of Schooner Moore.”
- God Save the Queen (The Immortal Empire) by Kate Locke <— Tessa is enjoying this one!! “Alright, anyone who likes PNR, Kate Locke’s world is definitely different. I’m really loving it, and plan to get book two and three from the library if they have it. A lot of intrigue and mystery that keeps my mind busy.“
- Seeing the Love by Sofia Grey <— Andrei recommends this very recent release one, saying: “If you fell in love with a blind hero, you should check out Seeing the Love by Sofia Grey…”
- The Bloodline War (The Community Series Book 1) by Tracy Tappan <— LIKE BDB? Ruthie is reading this one saying: “The Bloodline War by Tracy Tappan suppose to be like BDB series”
- The Summer Remains by Seth King <— TEAR-JERKER ALERT and I’m bringing it back, ’cause a novella for it was just released… OMG YES!!! This one makes me feel like crying just by the blurb alone… “Twenty-four-year-old Summer Johnson knows two things. The first is that due to a quickly worsening medical condition, she faces a risky surgery in three months’ time that may or may not end in her death. The second is that she would like to fall in love before then…“
- Autumn Rising: A Summer Remains Novella by Seth King <— THE NOVELLA ALERT!!! Oh I remember how book #1 made everyone cry hard, and now here is the novella! It was just a couple of weeks ago, and I haven’t read the blurb in case it’s a follow up I don’t want the first one spoiled for myself…
- The Lessons by Elizabeth Brown <— SHE HIRED A SEX SURROGATE ALERT! Back on the list, ’cause Jessica is loving this one! “I’m 71% in to The Lessons by Elizabeth Brown and this has by far been my favorite book of the year. I can’t stop giggling. It’s funny, sweet and I love the main characters. It’s one of those books you don’t want to end. It’s got such a great storyline. I didn’t know what a sexual surrogate was but I know now! Ryan is just awesome.*sigh* I HIGHLY recommend it.“
- Brave: A Contemporary MMA Romance (Oni Fighters Book 1) by Natalie Gayle <— EX-MMA FIGHTER & EX-MODEL... recently released, great reviews so far and their careers were torn away from them… “Can these two wounded souls find the inner strength to fight back the demons together and find the beauty in their lives once again?”
- Mean Streak by Sandra Brown <— WHOA!!!! BLURB JOLT ALERT!!! HIS WIFE GOES MISSING… Not bargain priced but HIGHLY recommended by Chelli: “…a friend recommended it to me and it was soo good..lots of plot twists and turns and kept you guessing whole time…mean streak by Sandra Brown, it came out August of last year but was a great read!!” and yeah that blurb gave me TWO jolts! “While police suspect Jeff of “instant divorce,” Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won’t even tell her his name. She’s determined to escape him, and willing to take any risks necessary to survive. Unexpectedly, however, the two have a dangerous encounter with people who adhere to a code of justice all their own…” (and then it goes on and gives me a jolt #2!)
- Racing the Sun: A Novel by Karina Halle <— NANNY TO A BROODING RACER’S KIDS IS BACK ON THE LIST ’cause Acacia LOVED this latest release! “I just finished Racing The Sun by Karina Halle and now I can’t start another book because it was so good!!!”
- Chaos: Mayhem Series #3 by Jamie Shaw <— ROCK STAR ALERT! this recent release is back on the list ’cause Michelle is enjoying it! “Looking for a book? Chaos by Jamie shaw is good so far. Rock star!!”
- The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward <— J.R. WARD ALERT!!! Back on THIS list, ’cause Grey LOVED it saying: “Finished The Bourbon Kings… pardon me whilst I twirl around here in happy book gluttony LOL! I’d give it 4 stars. I can’t remember who asked, possibly Amy…about it being a cliffy? I would say no… there is an excerpt from the next installment and it does mention the main characters straight away… but… the ending of this first book, sh*t this is hard to do without spoiling anything. Let’s just say I was satisfied with the path she took. Whew…sweating bullets over here. Now… I’m trying to decide what to read next!!” and Sharon agrees: “…I am 28% into The Bourbon Kings and I.LOVE.IT! Wasn’t sure I would because, well The Brothers! Liked the Angels but did’t love them. This one? A nice change! Ok, back to the book!”

Oooh, The Scheme sounds right up my alley! (Occupational hazard, you know!) Also Rush, God Save the Queen and The Lessons are on my short list as well!
Thanks, as always, Maryse for a great list! Anyone want to BR one with me?
My pleasure Grey!! And thank you for giving us some great feedback to help us with choosing our next. 😀
YES!!! The Bourbon Kings was totally awesome *twirls around*
Mean Streak has been on my TBR for quite some time! Thanks for the list Maryse!
Oh and the first few chapters of said book are free as a preview:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M72O3RA/ref=gi_dp_gtfa
YAY!!! I think today’s list has a nice variety…
I’ve been dancing around the Dearest series on my tablet forever! Leaving for the beach next week so thinking that might be my indulgence. The Scheme and The Lessons have my attention too. Finished Racing the Sun last night or early this morning more like it!!! *sigh*really liked it buuuut idk felt a little rushed towards the end for me. I’m sure it’s just me though!!
I loved The Lessons. Fun and sexy!
I need to get back to The Bourbon Kings. I have Racing the Sun so need to read it soon. Also Gardens of Water sounds pretty interesting! Thank you for this great list Maryse 🙂
Is Karina Halle new release a standalone or is the first book in the series neccesary?
I think Rush has to be my next read
Maryse, I love French & English bulldogs. I think they maybe too high maintenance for me though.
Do you have one?
Speaking of dogs I just saw someone share this and had to post here.
hhttps://upshout.com/shelter-dogs-in-photobooth/ttp://upshout.com/shelter-dogs-in-photobooth/
No bed… I only have MinPins, but if I find a frenchie that needs a home I’ll go crazy. LOL!
https://upshout.com/shelter-dogs-in-photobooth/
I’ve read the Dearest series and liked them.
I don’t know why but Punching and Kissing made me think of Amy- maybe because she said she trains at a MMA gym?!!
Don’t know what to read next, Rush- (got me with your review Maryse); 47 Things, Racing the Sun(love Karina Halle), Mean Streak (sounds twisted and dark), The Scheme. Guess I’ll read the samples and go from there. After last couple of sappy reads need something with some depth.
Grey- “The Scheme…Occupational hazard” …Are you in the medical field? I’m a nurse. Maybe that’s reason enough to buddy read it!!
Laura Florland’s latest in the la Vie en Roses series came out today: A Wish Upon Jasmine.
Cheryl, yes I am too 🙂 I need to finish Fantastical & then I will probably spring and buy The Scheme. I did already snatch up Rush… sigh, it’s a sickness really!
Just finished Broken Dove and loved seeing all the couples together 😀 Love this series and can’t wait for Noc’s book!
I guess I’ll get back to The Bourbon Kings 🙂
LOL Cheryl!!! Great minds must think alike but in different ways ’cause I saw that title and thought it would have been perfect for hubby and me in high school. KIDDING! Well, sorta kidding…there was lots of kissing going on (come on, we were a couple of horn– er, hormonal 17-year-olds!) but no punching aside from overly dramatic teenage verbal punches. 😉 And no MMA for me, I just do cross-fit training there. If I tried MMA I’d end up rolling up like an armardillo within 5 seconds. Rhonda Rousey I am not.
Finally able to jump back in the middle of the ocean with SR, which is going good so far! I think I’m going to need some kind of love triangle book when I finish though (especially after talking about Paradise Hops yesterday) ’cause I’m craving some good ol’ female-POV angst!
Hmmm, Rush, The Scheme, Paradise Hops??? Going to read the samples… and drink my nice cold hibiscus vodka drink!!! 😉
So I’m putzing around on the internet, like I like to do, and find the most interesting book… it’s under the “alien abduction erotica” themes… LOL… and first name that popped up was…. FABI…. tell me that this is not right up your alley chica? (Lips Like Ice, by Peggy Barnett). (What kind of sub genre is THAT? Alien Abduction Erotica?) heeheehee…. for 99 cents I just HAVE to check it out.
Yummy Cheryl! Did you mix it with that Starbucks hibiscus at-home mix? I’m getting ready to start my Friday night with some strawberry martinis!!
MichelleS, how is your shoulder doing? *giggle* Alien abduction erotica? Not much is shocking around here. 😉
The Summer Remains was ruined by the overuse of the word “like”. I was, like, falling in love. I’m not pretty, but, like, I have feelings. Sometimes 3 times per page!!!!! I am very openminded but I just couldn’t, like, get past it. 🙁
*blinks* I honestly don’t know what to read. I want to read book two of Kate Locke’s series, but that’s a library grab. So, I’m staring at a lot of good books, of which none sound good. grr
Amy, sadly I haven’t found the Via mix yet. So I mixed it with Lemonade. Going to try some of these recipes next. https://www.absolutdrinks.com/en/drinks/with/absolut-hibiskus/
The strawberry martinis sound good too.
Back to trying to figure out what I’m reading next. 🙂
Tv shows to marathon.
Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch. This show is amazing and fun. Each season is only 3 90min eps. Really, Maryse, can not rec enough.
Gilmore Girls, just absolute love for this show. Great acting and writing. Strong female leads, funny, touching, wonderful side characters. And the Gilmores love their music, books, pop culture, junk food, and coffee coffee coffee. I watch this show often. My favorite.
Justified!! Raylan Givens& Boyd Crowder. Enough said.
I am starting Pointe of Breaking by Amy Daws. After reading the prologue I just need to read it!
“Much ink had been spilt in efforts to describe love. Countless sonnets were dedicated to a beloved. Canvases decorated the finest museums; each a testament to express absolute devotion. The very emotion that drives us into each other arms will forever be exemplified in the arts. Yet, when I expressed this impossibly beautiful feeling using my body as a medium, he only saw heartbreak”
I finished Chaos this week and oh did I love it. I thought the first book was awesome as well-Mayhem. The books are stand alones, but I’d definitely start with Mayhem. Chaos left me with a perma-smile. There’s a great cast of characters in this one that were a great addition to the storyline.
I’m 30% into The Lessons and reeeeally good so far!! Mix of funny AND sexy!! Very interesting premise.
Bev, I loved Sherlock and Benedict Cumberbatch. I would also recommend Orphan Black. I’ve also been watching Daredevil on Netflix with my daughter.
Jackie I read Mayhem, but need to read Riot before reading Chaos. Have to move both up my tbr list.
I read 15% of Pointe of Breaking but didn’t grab me so I am moving on to Radiance 🙂
I 1-clicked the 2nd Caged book. One of these days she’ll have the whole series published so I can actually READ the books (parts of books) I’m buying. *sigh* She’s one if my favorite authors and she had to go do “that” with her books. 🙁
I almost 1-clicked Dragonbane. But, $14.99? Ouch. ebooks shouldn’t cost more than $10 unless they are over 700 pages long. I’ll end up buying it anyways, I’m sure. But I’ll wait to see the price of the hardcover. There may not be much difference.
Then, theeeen, I see MichelleS’s post. Of COURSE I have to go 1-click an alien abduction erotica. It might as well be titled “for Fabi”. MichelleS you’re awesome! Thanks for thinking of me. (teehee I’m such a slutty reader. 😉 )
Although, I’m about to start calling myself an ” ex-reader”. Friday night at 11pm, and, yup, you guessed it, I’m still working. Doors open for business Monday, so after this weekend, things MAY start to settle down.
Fabi, much luck. Hope it all goes great.
Cheryl, I’ve seen alot of praise for Orphan Black.
Sherlock, even knowing the answers I would rewatch. So well written & acted. And Molly’s crush is so sweet. And Moriarty creepy.
Man buns. Saw two or three of them today. What do we think?
Man buns are awesome, especially when you can bounce quarters off them. 😛
Holy moly…
😯
That was freaking weird…
I totally had deja vu while reading your post Fabi.
*gulps martini*
Just finished SGT……AMAZING!!! I absolutely loved it! Amy, why did you make me wait so long to read this? Hope you are liking SR even though I knew you wouldn’t be thrilled with male POV.
Now I don’t know what to read next.
Jean, right?? Right??? RIGHT????? So emotional and so heartbreaking at one point and so healing. *sigh*
*giggle* You snuck off the other post before you could answer me…that’s okay, you answered me here!! 😀
For being a male POV, it’s great! Transcendence will always be my favorite male POV, but I think SR will come in a close second.
Well crap Anne…and I just one-clicked it. 😕
Amy, lol.
They make me think of Opie.
Jean, what should you read next…..
Glad you are liking SR Amy. I was getting nervous. There really is no comparison to SGT though…..that book was just so…..ahhh…..unforgettable…..I’m in a book fog….
Now, what’s our next battle? Lol!
You liked Opie’s a$$???
Hair Amy. Hair. What do you think I meant by seeing three of them today.
https://www.buzzfeed.com/ruthyanney/21-man-buns-that-will-ruin-you-for-short-haired-gu-118s9
Lmao.
Not sure what I think. Well, saw a guy rocking one a few months ago, but he was really handsome.
I thought you meant the other type too. Man buns, hair edition, nope. Even looking at those men, nope. It looks unkempt and yeah, nope.
Omg bev I thought you were talking about butts not buns…..lmao! Some guys can definitely pull it off….buns that is.
Let me point out, Jared Leto was there! The only man I’ve ever crushed on due to his eyes, and still… nope. Some of those guys look like the same guy. That’s kind of creepy, honestly.
Oh, you all make me laugh. 😀
Now go forth and get us twenty pics of the other type of buns! 😛
My so called life. I still remember Angela talking about the way he leans, lol.
Tessa, i think some are the same.
BAHAHAHA!!! I totally thought you were talking about man buns as in man a$$, LOL!!!! So what if you saw three of THOSE today, as long as they were clothed!! 😛 I’m so glad my hubby knows I love him…not that I would say things bout man a$$ in front of him…
Okay, so man BUNS…very few can pull it off, mostly younger guys. Now, Jason Mamoa? Oh hell yeah can he pull off the man bun. He can pull OFF anything. 😉
“Opie’s a$$!!” ~ I can’t.
* wipes eyes*
HA!!!!!!! *points at Jean and Tessa*
They thought it too!!!!!!
I read your “Opie’s a$$” comment right as I took a drink of my martini Bev.
It’s now on my ipad.
It hink this last one was kinda strong…
Oh for the love of man cards…he looks like he should be wearing a floral dreass and playing an organ at church…
Of course I did! Now I’m permanently traumatized by the view of Jared Leto in a bun. First he gets too thin, so honestly he’s not sexy that way. Then, he’s got this odd beard thing, which again, NOT SEXY! Now, a man bun? *cries* What next? Oh wait, this… https://screenrant.com/jared-leto-joker-official-image-tattoos/ His pretty eyes are gone!
Okay, Amy, your first post calmed me. Who is that? He’s got pretty lips.
I like the first one Amy but not the second. You guys are cracking me up!
Hey bev, guess what, I just started WiR!! Hubby is away so could be a long night.
Actually I should say morning. It’s 1:15 am.
Amy, i thought you knew what I meant & was just making a joke with the quarters. Now you know how I felt when I read your “Opie’s a$$!!” Comment.
The firstt is Jason mamoa!!!!!! *snort* I should hope you don’t like the second pic Jean.. 😉 He looks blah.
Oh no Bev…bouncing quarters means mighty tight buns
Jean!!!!! Whoot!!!! That’s better than man buns.
Tessa, Jason Momoa.
How you feel about Jared is kind of how I’m starting to feel about Depp.
Amy, never went crazy for Bloom. Now when LotR came out, all about Viggo.
Oh Bev. Bev Bev Bev.
Never watch a movie withViggo called Eastern something or other ’cause he did a fight scene in it and was completely naked in the scene. Full frontal. Fighting and being thrown around with the junk flying.
It wasn’t sexy.
It was an interesting scene, lol.
Liked History of Violence better, though.
Jean when you wake up tomorrow, you have to check in.
No way!! You’ve seen both of those too????
I will bev. I’m really liking it so far! It’s like nothing I’ve ever read before.
Hahaha Well, Mamoa is the exception. My niece had a crush on Bloom since we watched The Three Musketeer. I was more crushing on Sutherland. Also, Viggo in LOTR, but not in anything else.
Leto it’s really the eyes with that skin. Sexy. At least when I first noticed 30 Seconds to Mars. Now, Blah
Wait, Jason Mamoa was on Baywatch. I swear, I had no idea, but he’s the one I thought, wow, sexy, but probably no brain. *pounds head*
Man buns, *snort* sweet lawd ‘o mercy. I totally was thinking of hot muscled man tush… *cackle* bounce a quarter… *wipes tears from my eyes*… Oh hell girls, we’re hopeless.
Bev they’re called Muns in Australia (man buns) and as long as they’re not paired with Meggings (weird man leggings) I’m OK with the look *snort*
Oh those kind of man buns. Nope, no, very few can pull it off. Now the other kind…
Full frontal fight scene?? That’s just disturbing. 🙂
Heh, muns & meggings. 😛
Eep. I just Googled Meggings, and eep. Not pretty.
Started The Iron King by Julie Kagawa. Really good so far, though a overly fairytale like. I know, it’s a Fae book, but it does have that fairytale quality.
Oh man! missed ALL the fun. Man buns? nope… it only works on Jason Momoa because super hot guys can do anything they want and look good (dread locks, top hats, weird clothes, whatever). Average men should never attempt this look. Muns and meggings? nope….. never…. unless you’re a super hot rock star or something.
Full frontal Viggo during a fight scene? Does NOT sound yummy at all. He was hot in Hidalgo though (and LOTR of course). I like him with facial hair.
Oh…. and Fabi… if you haven’t started Lips Like Ice, drop whatever you are reading and pick it up. I was up until 3:00 am because it was just that good.
Awww MichelleS, you wanna kill me don’t ya? I went to bed working and got up working. No reading for me this weekend. But I put it at the top if my tbr. Thanks!
Have I told you guys how Bastian’s past and flashbacks are breaking my heart?
Ohhhhhhh, that’s right…y’all already knew and didn’t warn me! 😛
Just spent the morning finishing Eyes of Silver Eyes of Gold. So great. Just great. Happy claps for me.
Yes, MichelleS. Like the guy I saw not too long ago, just so hot, bun or not. But I do think there are people, men & women, that can carry a look off just because they are so confident in themselves or charismatic or just stylish, doesn’t matter if they are good looking or not.
Now Jean needs to check in, lol.
Fabi, did you finish Sea of T?
Jason Momoa oh yes please! That man looks good with anything! Seriously he’s like my dream guy.
Man buns like you guys said it depends. Some can really pull it off but other no please!
Amy I don’t think its a bad book but I think I wasn’t in the mood for it. Its like whats happening to me with The Bourbon Kings also :/
Jean so happy you loved SGT! Its an amazing book! One of my faves for sure!
Radiance is so good you guys! I am loving Ildiko and Brishen together. I just saw that book 2 will be published late December early January 2016. Can’t wait!
Oh and Viggo in LOtR HOT!
*squeals* Jean you’re reading WiR! SGT and then WiR, you’ll be in extreme book fog when you are done!
Fabi! I’m reading and reading The Valley of Horses and why can’t they just meet already!? I’m dyyyiinnngggg in anticipation!
Well I finished Lips Like Ice. Did a marathon read. I loved it. It was so unbelievably different from anything… let’s see.. in a nutshell: deals with gender identity issues, deals with “Stockholm Syndrome” and falling in love with your captor, takes place on an alien world that’s weirdly cool, has an “ice elf prince creature” as she calls him, may have some nonconsensual sex…. but couldn’t put it down. Just fascinating. Could potentially be offensive on so many levels, and was still so beautiful. Fabi… get on it. And maybe Michelle would like it too. Amy – maybe? you liked Holy Trinity, and that was weird.
I went to library today so I have all three of the books that starts with God Save the Queen. Wondering if I should just start those??
Its funny how finishing a good read can kind of stop you for a bit. Hard to pick up the next book.
Exactly Bev. Feel like I’ve been looking for that elusive good read for days.
Anne- I, too, loved Radiance! You know… The one I just read reminds me of Radiance… Lips Like Ice. Lots of similarities.
Sadness and tears again Fabi but then the meeting happens and everything is so engrossing as they learn about each other. I have <20% left in book 2 – cannot put it down and will be up until I finish!
MichelleS these books have you written all over them in CAPITAL letters! Transcendence was one of my top favorites BUT (can't believe I'm going to say this!) these books are better…they are novel and touching and hot (although the romance doesn't happen until book 2) just like Transcendence but take it to the next level! If that doesn't convince you, I'm pulling out the big guns and going to say they are right up there in epic fantasy awesomeness with Tairen Soul. Really YES!
Fabi, back me up because don't you think she NEEDS to read them? Oh and mucho props to you for getting me to read these! Ok can't stray too long because I will finish and then hopefully can restrain myself from starting book 3 and not sleeping 😉
You did NOT just throw out the Tairen Soul comparison? Oh wow. You just KNOW that’s going to get my attention.
Okay – so here is my worry. Even in Transcendence, I was worried about it. But it was one little book, so I let it slide. I am worried about dialogue. That’s like a HUGE thing for me. And I am thinking the whole cave man – cave woman thing may be a bit “me Tarzan you Jane” ? I can laugh now, but the “kizz beh” thing was a but off -putting…. at times. So is it like that???? We never got to hear what she was saying since it was all mouth noise to him.
Tell you what…. you read Lips Like Ice and I’ll read about the Clan…. deal?
OMG – and there are SIX books? Oh wow. 3000 pages. UGH!!! Why oh why did you have to dangle Tairen Soul out there like that??? That’s like telling Bev something is like WiR or telling Maryse it’s like BD. Just not fair.
Lmao , MichelleS didn’t you make that comparison with the Scribe?
Finished Radiance and loved it! 5+ stars! Love Brishen and Ildiko. Can’t wait for book # 2.
MichelleS I’ll look into Lips Like Ice if you say its similar to Radiance 😉
Starting My Familiar Stranger 😀 I’m in a PNR/Fantasy romance kick.
Michelle, I saw your earlier comment about wanting them to meet and since I knew what was coming I couldn’t answer without giving anything away. Would you believe my heart STILL hurts at those places you’ve cried or felt sad over? Remember, I read these when they were first published. I think you’ll remember them always, just like me. I knew you’d like them! If you ever read Hominids, again, I repeat, I think Transcendence will fall to third for you like it is for me.
MichelleS, I had the same problem with Transcendence as you did in the dialogue. These books don’t have that problem in spite of the language barrier. The reason I haven’t recommended these as strongly to you as I have Hominids is because I know you prefer PNR (emphasis on the romance) and CotCB takes well over a thousand pages to get there. Hominids is more immediate. Still a relatively slow build, but not epicly slow as CotCB is. Of course, I would be thrilled if you read either or both series.
I have to admit, the idea of any book with neanderthals worry me. I had to read The Inheritors by William Golding in college, and it just turned me off of the idea. However, if you are all loving it this much, next library stop, I’ll get it.
Tessa, knowing your tastes a little bit and having read many of your recommendations, I think you’ll enjoy it. You read as much YA as I do. The first half of the first book reads like a YA novel, then…it doesn’t.
You all are loving it so much, I’m willing to try. 🙂 Just, NEVER read the inheritors. I got it. I wasn’t confused. I hated it. lol The end was the worst. It just felt all ick.
I’ve never even heard of it.
I’m staying up late trying to finish SoT once and for all. It’s past due already.
Read The Scheme. It reminded me of The Deal, except he’s not the college bad boy. Just they make a deal to help her get the man of her dreams. Didn’t give me the “feels” like The Deal, but was fairly well-written and with some angst. Enjoyable saturday read and hey the h was a nurse, which I enjoyed since I am a nurse. 😉
Hmmm, I just noticed an older book by Elle Kennedy- Body Check. Anyone read this one?? Looks good, have to go read the sample…
I’m still in the Courtyard and loving it! Thank, thank you, thank you bev!!!!!!!! Didn’t get to read much this weekend, but I’m at 50% now.
Jean!!!!! You have totally made my day. 😀
I’m so glad(relieved) you are enjoying it.
Does anyone have “This Girl” by Colleen Hoover for Kindle that is loanable? I read Finding Cinderella last night – needed a quick novella just in between while I figure things out. Anyway, she really is just such an amazing writer, and This Girl was on Carissa’s list of favorites.
MichelleS, it says lending not enabled.
🙁
Oh it figures! That’s just my luck. My library only has the actual “book” and it is checked out. Being one “armed” right now really means I can only do the Kindle. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to save it for when I can read the library book. Too pricey for me. (I don’t mind spending the money, but for some reason I only read her books once. They are not the type that is a re-read for me. If they were, I’d buy them.)
OMG! I finished Punching and Kissing this weekend and highly recommend it! One of my new all time faves. I went into it half-heartedly. I LOVED Real by Katy Evans, and wanted to read more fighter books. But since then I’ve felt that a lot of those books felt like the same recycled story line with the same recycled characters.
NOT THIS BOOK!
Really original story. I adored the characters. I love how strong Sylvie is and how intelligent Aeden is. He’s protective but not an ass. The reason behind his reluctance to get involved with her is UGH. And the reason behind her needing him is UGH. And there’s this slow buildup . . . . but WOW when these two finally get together for the first time?! Chills down my spine, someone please fan me, get me a brown paper bag to breathe into, HOTNESS.
Just throwing that out there. Loved. This. Book.
Was at a wedding all day yesterday, then came home and read for 3 hours. Into Golden Dove, le sigh, I am going to have such a book hangover when I’m all done.
My library doesn’t have The Scheme or The Lessons in ebook form yet, so I’ve gotta wait… Pout!
Although, there’s a couple that you guys have been throwing out that I’m chomping at the bit for. Sweet Gum Tree, Written in Red & God Save the Queen.
I really need to start a spreadsheet or something…
Yep hehe I went there MichelleS! Seriously though at least book 1 & 2 are amazingggg! What Fabi said though about the dialogue and really it takes place in that period but the love interests are not traditional ‘cavemen.’ The main heroine is Ayla, and she is known as part of ‘The Others’ which are people during that period who look more like modern humans. She is raised in the Clan after she is abandoned in the wild. It’s for sure a lot of reading but I love when books are longer and I really get to know characters and I even like the slower developing romances because to me, they feel more realistic. I looked at Lips Like Ice and would definitely read it if I can get you to take the plung on CoTCB 😉 It sounds different and I’m always up for that!
Fabi, haha I was chomping at the bit over them finally meeting! Like I said it was a long haul but sooooo worth it. I love them both and I like how it feels real and organic. I will NEVER forget these books! Oh all the animals and that connection is so cool and I cried over the part about half way through, wasn’t expecting it and what Baby does…ughhh so much story! The books get even longer though. I wonder if I should try Hominids now and switch back and forth. Would I get totally confused? Which series do you like better or are they both amazing to you?
Yeyyyyyy Jean! Once you are in the Courtyard, you do not want to leave!
Try them Tessa! I think I have very similar tastes to you and that you would like them.
Happy Sunday everyone!
I was going to read The Familiar Stranger but decided to read Darker Water by Lauren Stewart instead and loving it!! I think its going to be on my 2015 favorite books list 😀
Yeah, Jean is reading Written in Red! Michelle, I’ll get it from the library. 🙂 I already checked and they have a few copies. Happy Sunday Anne! 🙂 Fabi, I’m so glad everyone told me to read SoT. Such a good story.
I got lost in The Iron King. It got better pretty quick after I posted, and boy, it made the fairy tale part make sense. I have to get number two. Now, I’m FINALLY reading City of Heavenly Fire. I’ve been hyolding off for some reason, but I finally am reading it. Only problem is, it took a few pages to remember everyone and who/what they are. *sighs* Too long since the last book.
Need to pick a book. Probably one of the 2 library books due back in a couple days.
Anne I really liked Darker Water. I thought the MC s had great chemistry and banter. Some little parts at the end didn’t work as well, but thats a tiny nitpick. Overall good read.
I really am enjoying it bev! It will be quite memorable! I’m on a roll with great books lately thanks to you guys!
Allison, you have me convinced with Punching and Kissing!
Darker Water? I gotta check that out……
Amy, did you finish SR?
So, quiet here today. I hope that is because everyone is having a fun filled day. 🙂
Bev I know! Where’s everybody? I went to the Mall in the morning and then just stayed home and read 🙂
Need your help. I am looking for an epic romance type of book. You know one that has angst, that you feel everything the MC’s are feeling, that maybe makes you cry but in the end there’s a HEA. It can be PNR, Fantastical, Historical or Contemporary. Any suggestions?
Not much of anything today. Plan to go and finish Broken Dove soon. Anne, hmmm… how about The Saint by Tiffany Reisz? She’s one of my absolute faves. It’s a series… but this first book is on sale today on Amazon for only 1.99. I am debating what is going to be my next read too….
Anne did you read Karina Halles The Pact….it definately epic and angsty and spans years. I was in a bit of a fog after that one.
Anne, I know a lot on here love The Bronze Horseman for being like that. I haven’t read it yet.
A Place to Call Home by Deborah Smith fits, really enjoyed this book. Need to do a re read soon.
Penelope Williamson. I have her Passions of Emma in my library pile. Want to see if I love It the same.
Have you ever read Judith Mcnaught? She’s great but not digital so would be library. Tessa we should buddy re read a book of hers some time.
MichelleS loves the Tairen Soul, have you read? The first one was really good and seems to set up an epic series.
You could also visit Jean in the courtyard. Just, well, the romance or potential romance is very slow moving. But! Anne it is very good. And if you read it you won’t have to worry about Michelle or I will rec it to you everytime you look for a new read, lol.
Speaking of…..Michelle Michelle Michelle??!!!!!!
Look at the first post. The blurb. “Older and more dangerous” Whoot!! I got happy feet!
https://m.facebook.com/AnneBishopsCourtyard?refsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FAnneBishopsCourtyard
Anne, Darker Water sounds good. Reminds me of another book I read fairly recently that was based on a fairy tale too, but darn if I can remember the title. Will have to look at my kindle.
Epic, huh. Outlander is good, but the series hasn’t ended yet. Thoughtless, also liked the Off campus series by Elle Kennedy and the Game on series by Kristen Callihan; Beat & Throb, Tristan & Danika series, Love Me With Lies series.
Bev, I’d have to get it from the library at this point. That was one of the many books lost in a move. Though, as a re-read. Paradise and Something Wonderful were my favorite. I can’t choose between those two.
Older and more dangerous! 0.0 Oooooh! That blurb just makes me antsy for the next one.
You know, I think everyone has read most of the epic fantasies I’d recommend. Well, there’s the old historicals, of course, that almost no one has read, but something more recent? I’d have to think on that one.
Tessa, I still have City of Heavenly Fire on my tbr too. *sigh* We really do seem to read a lot of the same YA series.
Michelle, when it comes to Neanderthals, for me, Clan of the Cave Bear is first in favorites, Hominids is second, and Transcendence is third. I’ve only read those three. teehee
As far as continuing with CotCB or switching over to Hominids…I tend to stay with a series until I’m finished with it. Hominids is very different than CotCB. For starters, its present day, parallel universe. For another, both races are highly civilized with very unique characteristics. I think you’ll love it. But, honestly, nothing has ever compared to CotCB for me. It’s my “Tairen Soul”. Lol. The first two books in CotCB are the best, but don’t let that hold you back because each and every book is new and shiny and ready to tear your heart out in completely unexpected ways. Oh, and they also get hotter and hotter as they go. *snort*
MichelleS, I mentioned it on another thread, but, I’m starting Lips Like Ice tonight.
I *did* finish SR, Jean…and ohhhhhhhh was it great!! 😉 His confusion and mixed emotions at the end made my heart just ache for him. I have Bastian’s Storm already but I’m going not going to jump right in yet. I need a break from being in Bastian’s head for a little bit. 😉
Anne…epic and angsty, huh? Are you looking for a standalone or is a series okay?
Maryse, did you see Allison’s gush up there over Punching and Kissing?? It has a bunch of (and only) 4-star and 5-star reviews as well. Hmmm, sounds promising…
I did NOT see that but I’m scrolling Amy… I love gushing!!!
Er… *blink blink*
Oooo Bev! I. WANT. IT. NOW! Can’t wait for the cover too!
Tessa, I adore Paradise!
Anne, epic romance…well just because I’m reading it now – Clan of the Cave Bear and Tairen Soul, which everyone who loved that one should read the former 😉 *snicker*
Yeah I was thinking the same thing Fabi after looking at the summary for Hominids – it seems more complex? I don’t know if I’m moving to book 3 or taking a mini-break. Lips Like Ice…hmm let me go look at that one again.
Grey I am kinda scared of The Saint. The subject matter is a little heavy no?
Lisa thank you so much for the suggestion! I haven’t read The Pact but love Karina Halle so it must be good 🙂
Bev I love The Bronze Horseman! One of my favorite books of all time. You should read it soon 🙂 I love Judith McNaught. That’s the type of book I am looking for. I haven’t read the Tairen Soul series but have looked at it before. It sounds like a really great read. Lol Bev! Who is the author of The Courtyard?
Cheryl I love Outlander! Have you seen the series? Its incredible! Oh Jamie!! I love the Off Campus series and Thoughtless. I haven’t read the other ones so will look them up 😀 Thank you!
Amy it can be a standalone or a series. I don’t mind.
Michelle many have recommended the Tairen Soul series so I guess I really need to read it lol
Oh Punching and Kissing is the perfect take a break, in between books in a series choice for me! Thank you Amy for mentioning since I missed Allison’s post above!
Sorry, Anne, lol. The courtyard references a place in Written in Red by Anne Bishop.
Have you read Sherry Thomas? I have one or two unread. She supposedly brings the angst to her historicals.
Oh boy Maryse…countdown to Amy in 3, 2, 1…
Michelle, I know, right? I’ve been so curious about some of those “other” others.
Let us know what you think of P&K. I looked at it but only great reviews make me nervous, lol.
Anne, Tairen Soul was really good. It was good enough to just go out and buy the whole series up in spite of the price. (my library only had book two.) The Courtyard is Written in Red and the rest of the Others series. It’s slow romantically, but oh so good.
Okay, epic romance. Have you read Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Devereaux? Something a little more recent, The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen, Kulti by Mariana Zapata, or a series Needing Moore series by Julie A Richman.
Michelle, face it. More proof we think alike in books. 🙂
Bev, I really reallllllllyyyy hope Bishop keep writing after the fifth book because yes there’s so much to explore. Sherry Thomas – I have her Not Quite a Husband to read and heard it’s really great. Will update on P&K.
Tessa, I never read something wonderful but if you think it’s as good as Paradise, I need to borrow that asap!!
City of Heavenly Fire, its the final one, right? Still need to read it, too.
That was an adaptation that did not work for me.
Yeah, it’s the last. The adaption sucked big time. I hope the tv show is better. So far, only about 100 pages into it, but it’s good. Kinda slow getting to the point, but good.
Yes, Michelle. Go and read Something Wonderful. I absolutely loved it.
*sneaks up behind Michelle*
*whispers* Psst…what are we counting down?
HA! Nothing, nothing at all…carry on Amy…
Maryse has been awfully quiet. What is she reading.
Michelle, lol.
The promise of fat free, calorie free ice cream that tastes good and won’t cause mutations.
No?
We should. That needs to be invented. Go read the Captive in the Dark while we figure it out.
Oh Amy and Maryse,
There was definite gushing going on reading that book.
Wait . . . did I just type that out loud?
*blushing*
Seriously though, I think I love it even more than I loved Real.
And someone went there…resuming Amy countdown…
What? Wait, what what what? More than Real? *rushing to Amazon*
Dude, I have peanuts to throw at Amy. Captive in the Dark is just the latest. Can you believe she hasn’t read it? Amy, of all people, who gives us books that makes us squirm, has not read Captive in the Dark. It’s… weird.
Lol Michelle
But be careful Fabi it might cause gushing…
Bev, if Maryse is reading Lips Like Ice she’s not going to tell us. Ha!
OMG Michelle haaaaa *gushing laughter*
Yeah, okay…I’ll carry on…
*smacks Michelle’s rear and skips away giggling*
So…Bev…you made me all curious with your comment so I did something that I try to avoid at all costs – I skimmed the reviews. I looked for the key words ARC and honest review, and the majority (like, maybe 90% or so?) of the reviews were from ARCs.
Hmmmm…I’m gonna think on it a little before I jump in to P&K but I *am* still curious about it. First I’m going to get back to Warprize though since this little book called SR 😛 interrupted me. But it was worth it. 😉
OMG…I just got it!!!!!!
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
I’m a little slow tonight…obviously…
This is starting to squick me out between the gushing and the squirming.
Owww *rubs rear* Well fine, I’m leaving you all to read my gushtastic book 😛
…ending Amy countdown after FOREVER!
*hands Amy a Martini* good catch (eventually)
Aw Bev…what’s some gushing among friends? 😛
This discussion reminded me of this.
https://bookriot.com/2014/07/09/euphemisms-body-parts-romance-novels-ranking/
Fabi,
I. Shit. You. Not.
I feel like if I were to explain the plot to you, it would sound very unbelievable. But while reading it, the characters are so well written, and none of the reasoning comes across as far fetched, so it all felt very real to me. That’s the best I can do explaining my emotions without giving anything away.
I’m definitely in a book hangover right now.
Fabi, lol. Maryse guilty pleasure–alien erotica. That would be a good reaction video!
Oh my lord…that was disgusting even to me…
*gags and shudders*
I’ll take that martini now…
And y’all stop making fun of me!!! *crosses arms* I’m exhausted this evening. *pblttttt*
Yikes. Thanks Allison. I’m on it!
OMG that was hilarious Bev!!! How many times have we seen those terms or very similar ones used in our books?? LOL!!!!!!
Tessa…now why you gotta go and bring that to this thread?!? Pfft…and y’all say *I* am the instigator here… 😛
Bev oh ok! I need to read Written in Red soon! I’ve only read Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas and really liked it! Yes lots of angst!
Tessa A Knight in Shining Armor is one of my favorite books ever! I re read it at least once a year 😀 I haven’t read Kulti although I do have it 🙂 Oh the Needing Moore series sounds so good!! Thanks for the rec!
Amy hasn’t read Captive in the Dark???? What? What? WHAT??? Amy! What??
Bev, I just snort-laughed reading that!
And I need to start making a list of all the terms that drive me nuts. (Not in a good way.)
Quivering – just stop using that.
Responsive – woe be to the man who ever says out loud to me that I am “so responsive.”
Button – No. You’re not playing with your TV remote.
Sigh.
Lol Bev! Manroot? Seriously?
Allison just added Punching and Kissing to my TBR pile. Thanks for the rec! I loved REAL so kinda excited about this one 😀
You’re welcome Anne! It’s the first fighter book that, for me, came close to Real.
Is A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux or Aubrey Williams?
Baaahahah. Alison I’m with you….*responsive* *button* such turn offs!!!!!
Fabi by Jude Deveraux. Love it!!
It’s, lime, book 15 of a series. Sheesh.
Lime=like (time to call it a night)
A Knight in Shining Armor…he probably has his sword sheathed to the hilt…
*snicker* You have to click on Bev’s link to get that one.
Nope Anne, haven’t read it…but neither has Cheryl so don’t all gang up on me!! I’m going to second Cheryl’s rec though for the Tristan and Danika trilogy…three books may sound like a lot but it won’t feel like it. You will feel just about EVERY emotion possible. I’m not kidding. Check out Maryse’s reviews on T&D.
*takes Fabi’s lime* Ooooooh, are we doing tequila shots now??? 😀
*hides Cuervo behind back* who me? Oh no, …never
I feel sleepy and start thinking of bed time. Amy seems like she is ready for a slumber party, lol.
Oh, did you guys see the Bowie pick. Really need to re watch that.
*snort* You mean the glistening orbs? LOL!!!!!
Slumber party!!! I haven’t been to one of those in over twenty- *mumbles* years!! Hehe, Fabi thinks I can’t sniff out the Cuervo if she hides it…
Amy, next time hubby is out of town have your bf come hang for the night.
Oh, for some reason I thought Anne read Tristan and Danika.
Fabi, it’s not a series like that. It’s stand alone. She just uses the same family through the centuries. The other books have nothing to do with Knight in Shining Armor. It’s a time travel and it broke my heart a few times.
Amy, it wouldn’t be so bad but you are the normal scary book instigator, and CITD is one that has been mentioned a billion times as a dark book to read. I’m not an instigator! Just, um, erm… An innocent shocked by an unfathomable truth!
I haven’t read the Tristan and Danika series. But sounds right up my alley 😀
Fabi like Tessa said it can be read as a stand alone. Its such a beautiful story! Need to re read it soon 🙂
Just finished Darker Waters and loved it! The banter and chemistry between Carson and Laney was off the charts! 4.5/5
Starting The Space in Between by Melissa Wichester. Its a YA so lets see how it goes.
Isn’t that the one with the interesting ending? I swear I just saw a debate on that book.
This is oddly creepy. Google gives you a birthday banner on your birthday. It says Google in cake form.
Oh, and Fabi, I read that without reading any others first. I went back and read every Jude Deveraux written (even the impossible to find Casa Grande. Yes, it’s that bad.) All are standalones, even if it says series.
Tessa is it your bday?
Tomorrow. Google is just three hours early. (It’s almost 11 here.) For my birthday, I asked for books. lol
Happy Birthday Tessa!! *big hugs*
Fabi it does have an interesting ending but its such a beautiful book!
Oops not Fabi but Bev! Sorry!
*hugs back* Thank you Anne!
Which book has an interesting end?
Happy birthday Tessa!!!
Happy birthday Tessa!
Happy Birthday Tessa!!!
Happy Birthday Tessa!!!
*stomps foot* I missed all the fun in here last night. *pout* what with the rear smacking, gushing, responsive, tequila hiding, glistening orbs and all… *side eyes naughty girls…you know who you are!*
Anne…yes The Saint is very heavy. But… I love it. LOL!
Amy, *record scratch* wait…what did I just read? YOU haven’t read Captive in the Dark? For realsies?? Girl… I realize you just got off that Bastian train…but… whoa, CIID is a dark manna from… er…um… yeah, it’s a great read *giggle*
I’m almost done with Broken Dove… *le sigh* such a wonderful series. I am going to have SERIOUS book depression soon. Still haven’t decided what I’m going to read next.
Just found what book I was saying Darker Waters reminded me of b/c based on a fairy tale- Never Let You Go, based on Hansel & Gretel.
Ewww, Bev those descriptions do show up a lot, just like “oh baby you’re so tight.” Ugh.
Amy, way to throw me under the bus with CITD!!
Just finished Something About You- it was on one of those lists someone posted about 100-swoon worthy romances. Was cute, quick read. There are 4 other standalones in this series but, I think I need a change. Going to look at my tbr…
Happy Birthday Tessa!!!!!
Amy, I’m at a loss on what to read next so if you want to hold my hand, *cough* I mean buddy read Captive In the Dark I’m in. This is a 3 book series right?
Thank you Fabi, Jean, Bev, Grey, and Cheryl! *gets everyone together, including Anne and gives massive huggles*
Is Knight in Shining Armor the one with the interesting end? That would make sense.
There is SOOOO much I need re-capped….. I passed out last night….
1.) Punching and Kicking maybe be better than Real, which I assume we all read and loved? – okay –
2.) We have new peanuts to throw at Amy for “The Captive Series” which I am frankly shocked to find out she hasn’t read!
3.) Fabi is starting alien erotica and there may be a chance that Maryse went there too? (OMG, how fabulously funny would that be?)
4.) Tessa is still looking for her next read – something epic – and it’s her birthday? YAY! Happy Birthday
5.) I can’t figure out the “ew” and “icky” posts – except it sounds like we are saying what words turn us off? In that case – “elongated” “tweaked” “to the root” (I’m still okay with “grinding” but that’s getting old too).
Did I miss anything else?
All yep, except Anne is looking for the epic romance. I’m reading City of Heavenly Fire finally. Slowly though. Busy plus 700+ pages = very slowly. 🙂
*hugs* Thank you for the birthday wishes.
Ah! Mortal Instruments? Another one of those series I passed over. I think I was always turned off by the YA classification and probably missed out on a bunch of good reads! If “teens and romance” were listed, I went right over it. Dang it. Now I just can’t catch up. Missed that boat.
It’s completed. Try the first one when your arm is better. Most libraries have it.
Yeah, but the first 1 or 2 are very YA. Later they grow up a bit.
Tessa yes its A Knight in Shining Armor that has an interesting ending 🙂
Amy and Cheryl you should BR CiTD! Its so good! Yes I think there’s 3 books in the series but I’ve only read the first one.
Just one clicked the Tristan and Danika series so after I finish The Space in Between I am starting it.
HAPPPY BIRTHDAY TESSA!!!!
*gives Tessa a huge birthday hug*
I’ll buddy read CITD with you soon Cheryl, but I need to finish Warprize first. I still need to read A–…wait, I’m not mentioning the title just yet ’cause I *know* y’all will flip your cookies. 😛
I was looking through my Nook to see if This Girl is lendable (before I saw Bev’s post that it’s not :() and I saw that I still have the last three Bloodlines books to read. All this talk of MI has me feeling a bit nostalgic about all the YA PNR books I gorged on at one point…and I forgot how great Adrian Ivashkov is. 😉 Hmmm, maybe those will be next. Ooh! And they are on my Nook so it would really feel like old times for me!
Happy Birthday Tessa!!
You liking Warprize Amy? I liked it a lot and finished the whole trilogy just recently.
****HUGGGGGEEEEEEEE DEAL!!****
https://www.amazon.com/The-Outlander-Series-7-Book-Bundle-ebook/dp/B009C9C77E
I am really liking it, Michelle! I don’t want to spoil anything so I haven’t read the blurbs for the other books, but is it a continuing story of Lara and Keir or do the subsequent books follow different characters?
You know what I’m most thrilled about with that Outlander bundle…that it doesn’t have the picture from the Starz show on it. It’s just a pet peeve of mine, but I HATE it when a movie or show is made from a book and then they change the cover and put the actors/actresses on it. 😕
Yes Amy!!! Agreed!!! Hate the movie covers!!! Argh!!!!
Amy, it’s about Lara and Keir for all three books which I loved! I have a hard time with most series where each book is a different couple. I like a more in-depth look at their relationships. I think there is a spin-off book 4 with Heath though.
I normally get annoyed with changing the covers for tv series or movies but that actor that plays Jamie could be on all my books and I would be fine with that!
*puppy dog piles hugs Amy and Michelle* Thank you!
How long is that deal for Outlander good? I still have to read it and hopefully will have a nice, pretty card tomorrow for it. Amy, I confess, I’ve yet to read Bloodlines. After Vampire Academy, I had so much trouble getting into the new MC’s head.
Okay – Michelle – you’re read both and know me pretty well by now: I have narrowed it down to two, based on the reading mood I am in: Blood Destiny or Warprize? (I sampled both and like them both equally well, can’t decide).
Tessa, I would think the deal is only good for today. I mean why hesitate on that, it’s crazzzzzyyyyy cheap!
Ummm howbout Clan of the Cave Bear MichelleS 😉 Warprize or Blood Destiny hmmm…I liked them both a lot, overall Warprize more but they are really completey different kinds of books. They both have aspects I could see you enjoying so I do not think you can choose wrong!
Where’s Fabi btw? Did you start Lips Like Ice? Still curious about that one. I like Punching and Kissing so far but just sat back down to read.
Lips Like Ice…I’m only at the beginning and she’s a prisoner and suffering and I have such a hard time with those storylines…will update when I get further along *breath*
Michelle…I’m so happy to hear their story will continue! 😀 I’m at a point as well where I’m kind of tired of the whole different-couple-per-book series, unless I need a guaranteed HEA after a particularly rough read. When each one is a different couple then most likely there will be a HEA, and the majority of the time I don’t want to know if there will be one or not.
MichelleS…I haven’t read Blood Destiny, but I can vouch for Warprize ’cause I am really, *really* liking it! No steam yet but it has a nice romantic tension going on. 😉
Tessa…shoot me your email on GR.
As for Bloodlines, I actually liked it a lot more than I did VA. I only made it as far as book 3 of the BL series, and I *adored* Adrian. You have to have patience with Sydney and her attitudes but I PROMISE it pays off with her. I really grew to like her, and at the end of book 3 I ended up flipping over on my belly and squealing in my pillow while kicking my feet like a 13-year-old girl. Literally. Seriously, it was that awesome of a moment.
My GR email or real one? I have a facebook junk email and a real one.
I’ve only read the first VA book. Keep telling myself I’ll go back & finish series. But ever since I’ve read the synopsis for the spin off I’ve wanted to jump into it instead.
I have books I need to read, a whole stack of them, before I return them. And really think I’ll enjoy them. But Eyes of Silver was just right. Right mood, right book. And now nothing sounds just right, lol. Like when your hungry and list all options and nothing is what you want, because you don’t know what your craving.
Alright enough rambling. 🙂
Fabi… I know you cringe at girls getting hurt… Sorry… But this is like Krylov was… And you might like where it leads. The themes it explored intrigued me.
Well shoot… I picked Blood Destiny & you said Warprize was a bit better? Shoot…. She just the Lord Alpha… Dare I squirrel now?
Tessa…I sent you a message on GR. 😉
Bev…to be honest, you could jump into the BL series without reading the rest of the VA series but some things will be spoiled from VA, and you would have a greater appreciation of the H if you knew him from VA. The h is a character who is introduced in the latter part of the VA series, and H is another character who doesn’t come along until book 2 (I believe?) in the VA series. It just all depends on how you are with reading spinoffs without reading the original series. BUT, the author is pretty good about recapping things from prior books at the beginning of each book.
MichelleS, you’re gonna get me nailed with peanuts from the Blood Destiny lovers! I actually haven’t read BD but I can say that I think you would like WP. 😀
Bev…rambling is what we do around here, isn’t it? 😉
Tessa I would love to give you the Outlander bundle as a birthday present. I just need your email so I can send it you 😀
Oh no! Is the deal over? Just checked the link and it says its $59.99?
MichelleS, the first Krylov book I read was mm. It makes a difference for me. They’re bigger, stronger, tougher…I have a hard time with women and children being hurt. Especially with the women when they don’t fight back “hard”. Anyways, I’m only at 19%, and I trust your recs absolutely so I’m sure I’ll be squeeling happily over it as soon as I can get back to reading. Finally heading home from work today, a bit earlier than last week.
Ahhh, you guys are so sweet. *grins* Either that or really want me to read Outlander. I really should.
MichelleS Blood Destiny was good and entertaining but yeah just an average 3* for me. Warprize has much more meat to it and I rated it 4*. I did continue on right away with the next book for both series so like I said both were intriguing enough to continue on. You know how much mood impacts how we like a story though. I’m at 80% with Punching and Kissing and not seeing the wow with it like some others but I just came off Clan of the Cave Bear which was a 5* for me so it’s hard to win me over right now *shrugs*
Oo see that deal went away quick. I thought it was too good that maybe it was a mistake even!
Happy Birthday Tessa!!! Hope you get Magic Shifts for your birthday 🙂
I’m reading With a Twist and it’s a very fast and good read!! He also has a manbun and I know you guys were talking about them up in the comments!!
Thank you and I totally will, even if belated. The only problem is I’m reading City of Heavenly Fire. This book is taking me forever to read. Something about being busy? Pfft.
