SATURDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!!!! Look what just went on super-bargain!!!! OMG YOU GUYS!!! You HAVE to read Forbidden if you haven’t yet. ➔➔➔➔➔➔➔➔
It is all SORTS of WHOA. And then some… and yet so many of us loved it like CRAZY. It is UNPUTDOWNABLE and will make you question SO much. Thank you so much for finding this deal Katryn!!! P.S. Here’s my 5-star review. 😉
Ohhhhhhhhhh yeaaaaaaahhhh… this is a MEGA Friday list (and what a way to end of this awesome month!!). Why? ‘Cause all sorts of books by quite a few favorite authors just went live. Even a much-loved author from back in my early indie-book days that I haven’t heard much from is back again. Today is like a blast from the past! Very cool! We have new ones from our “old-school” indie greats like Jasinda Wilder, Kitty Thomas, Jay McLean, K. Bromberg, Heather Killough-Walden <— GASP!! Right??? :D!!! …and so many more.
Plus… Tee hee!! I love the premises of the three books I re-added to this list. A priest, a recluse and a guy that wants NOTHING to do with her… just to mention a few that sound DARN good. 😉
Take a look at what we found for the weekend!!
- Persephone by Kitty Thomas <— OH. EM. GEE. QUEEN OF DARK READS KITTY THOMAS ALERT!!!!!! And not dark romances, either (but sorta). 😉 Dark love stories. Er… haunting… love stories? Dark and terrifying sometimes. A mix of both? Tee hee!!!!!! Either way… LOOKIE WHAT’S LIVE!!! And we already KNOW this story is dark. 😉 MINE. MINE. MINE!!!!!!! “…Determined to protect her, her father hid her away in the human world where she would be shielded from her fate. Hades learned of this betrayal nine centuries ago. He’s been searching for his destined queen ever since. And when he finds her, no power on earth or below it will stop him. He will take her. He will corrupt her. And Zeus will suffer for daring to keep her from him...”
- Ride or Die #1: A Devil’s Highwaymen MC Novel by Claire C. Riley (writing as Cee Cee Riley) <— LIVE!! BIKER BOOK ALERT!!! & IT’S BY CLAIRE C. RILEY! In fact… one of my favorite authors, A. Meredith Walters alerted me to this one!
A. Meredith Walters: New awesome book alert! I’m reading a biker book by Cee Cee Riley (the new pen name of Claire C. Riley who co writes with Madeline Sheehan) called Ride or Die and it’s amazing! It was just released today!!
- The Long Way Home (The One Series Book 1) by Jasinda Wilder <— JASINDA WILDER’S LATEST!! Sounds angsty!! “I cannot have you. I have lost you, as I have lost myself. And so I go in search. Of myself, and thus the man who might return to you, and take you in his arms...”
- Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices Book 2) by Cassandra Clare <— TUMMY TWISTER ALERT!! Tessa LOVED this recent release!!
Tessa: Lord of Shadows. GAH. So many emotions and my stomach could not stop twisting whenever they mentioned what MIGHT happen. Because, you know it’s all going to go wrong; it’s only book two! Also, add in all the lies and emotions that have to happen, and then that end! GAH. Even accidentally reading it, it still hit me hard!
- Uncomplicated Choices by Cara Dee <— M/M ROMANCE ALERT!! STUCK ON A YACHT TOGETHER… “…the day Ellis Hayes kidnapped me—or, he borrowed a yacht and didn’t know I was on board—he’d definitely been handed too many lemons. We faced a dilemma when I woke up hungover in the middle of the ocean. He needed to get the hell out of town to do some soul searching and decide whether or not to divorce his wife, and I needed to get back on land because humans didn’t belong on the water...”
- Omega Mine (Alpha & Omega Book 1) by Aline Hunter <— HOT BAD-ASS BIKER ALPHA-SHIFTER ALERT!! MichelleS is on a GOOOOOOD paranormal kick! Look what she found us!
MichelleS: FLT: “Don’t laugh. I needed some good old style PNR, and this is delivering on that note. He’s about as alpha as they come. 6 foot six, tattoos, Harley riding, long dark hair, and the Omega of all the shifters. She’s 5 foot nothin’, short spikey blonde hair with pink highlights, and super sassy. And she’s his “mate”, of course. I said DON’T LAUGH. It’s hot. Now THIS is hot…. I’m over the detailed sex “stuff” involving fluids & the like. This is soooo much hotter! Do you agree? “Air escaped her lungs in a quiet sigh and her lids slid closed when his lips brushed against hers, side to side, left to right. The gesture was so innocent, so intimate. Her mouth opened in welcome and he accepted the invitation like a gentleman.”
- The Nightmare King (The Kings Book 11) by Heather Killough-Walden <— LIVE!!! HEATHER KILLOUGH-WALDEN ALERT!! AFTER SPENDING TIME IN THE ICU, SHE CAN NOW SEE THE FUTURE… and then there’s him… “Nick has only been alive for a few short hours. He is the Nightmare King, the sovereign of a race of incubi as old as time. When his previous form was murdered by a traitor amidst the thirteen supernatural factions, he was reborn into the handsome but notorious man, Nicholas Wargrave”
- The Ice Beneath Her: A Novel by Camilla Grebe <— PSYCH-THRILLER SUPER-BARGAIN PRICED ALERT!! A murder suspect is missing, and his ex-lover was heartbroken but now she’s searching for him… “One staggering misfortune after another followed, leaving Emma certain that her runaway lover was to blame and transforming her confusion and heartbreak into anger. Now, pursuing the same mysterious man for different reasons, Emma and the police are destined to cross paths in a chilling dance of obsession, vengeance, madness, and love gone hellishly wrong...” Tasha found us this one!
Tasha: Thriller sale! The Ice Beneath Her by Camilla Grebe is on sale… This one has been on my tbr for a while…definite one click!
- Black by K.L. Grayson <— LIVE!!! MAFIA ROMANCE ALERT!! She wants to avenge her father… “...Getting to the heart of the family will be difficult, but nothing and no one is going to stop her—not even the heirs to the Ambrosi family empire. She’s prepared for the two brothers, Dante and Rex, to put up a fight, but she isn’t at all prepared for the danger they will bring to her life and her heart. One will love her. One will hate her. One will vow to protect her. One will vow to kill her. All in the name of family.“
- All the Lies We Tell (Quarry Book 1) by Megan Hart <— MEGAN HART ALERT!! Sharon is enjoying this recent release!
Sharon: Anyone read All the Lies We Tell by Megan Hart? I picked it up a few day ago (she is an angsty favorite) and I’m only 9% in and I’m hooked. There is something about her writing style that always draws me in.
Maryse: Sharon, I LOVE Megan Hart. She’s totally contemporary romance but with that dark and somber edge to her stories. And twisty… love her! Please let us know what you think when you’ve finished.
- The Blow Hole Rock Hard Box Set by Tabitha Vargo <— LIVE!!! ROCK STAR SERIES BUNDLE ALERT (and it’s super-bargain priced)! “The entire BLOW HOLE series together for a limited time box set! Follow the boys of the rock band, BLOW HOLE (Zeke, Finn, Tiny, & Chet), as they find out there’s more to life than just sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll…”
- Tied (Devils Wolves Book 2) by Carian Cole <— RECLUSE ALERT!! Back on the list ’cause Nancy loved it!
Nancy: I was blown away by her writing. 1st book I read by her and was hooked just reading the prologue.
Maryse: This book sounds SO good, Nancy!!! Thank you SO much for letting us know. *hug*
- Susan Fanetti <— BIKER BOOKS & SO MUCH MORE ALERT!! Jessica HIGHLY recommends this author!
Jessica: Susan Fanetti has the Signal Bend and So Cal and brazen bulls biker series – EVERY SINGLE book is steamy, real, intelligent, never cliche or contrived and with flawed, gritty and swoon worthy heroes. That’s not even mentioning her non biker stuff – The Paganos – Italian American hotties with their sassy and quirky women. Everything she writes is ten x more than anything similar or in the same genre.
- The Director and Don Juan: The Story Sisters #2 (The Blueberry Lane Series) by Katy Regnery <— KATY REGNERY’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! OFFICE ROMANCE ALERT!!! “…While Alice spent the next three years getting her own company off the ground, Carlos became her indispensable right-hand man — executive assistant and office manager, loyal counsel and trusted co-worker. And all the while, they were quietly falling in love with each other...”
- Dartmoor Series by Lauren Gilley <— BIKER BOOK ALERT!!! Jessica also recommends THESE!!!
Jessica: Lauren Gilleys Dartmoor series is KICKASS – hot bikers who are real and gritty and dark… Felix Lecuyer the big murderous Cajun will have you ruined for any other book boyfriend. I can’t even. The Dartmoor series is smart, intelligently written with awesome in club politics – not just some crappy biker series with the same old same old each guy gets a girl scenario. It’s hot and believable and has amazing relationships between all the characters. Seriously, you must try if you haven’t already.
- The Catch (The Player Duet Book 2) by K. Bromberg <— BASEBALL START ALERT!!! K. BROMBERG’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! And now the “duet” is complete. P.S. Here’s book #1 ➔ The Player (The Player Duet Book 1)
- Absolution by Missy Johnson <— FORBIDDEN PRIEST ALERT!! He ruined her sister’s life, and now he’s back… and boy has he changed. Tee hee!! “…When he walks into my office, asking for my help, I’m shocked, but nothing prepares me for what I’m about to learn. I see how far he’s gone to redeem himself and I know that he’s changed. I also know that, as a priest, he’s more off limits than ever...”
Kelsey: You had me at priest!!! ????
Ilsa: Priest books always intrigue me!
- The Beard Made Me Do It (The Dixie Warden Rejects Book 5) by Lani Lynn Vale <— LANI LYNN VALE’S LATEST BIKER BOOK IS LIVE TOO! Second chance romance? She once broke his heart and now he wants NOTHING to do with her… “…He’s only a friend. The words had slipped out of Ellen’s mouth, and before she could recall them, or better yet, explain them, Jesse is gone from her life for good, taking her heart with him...”
- Darkness Matters by Jay McLean <— HE’S A RECLUSE ALERT!!!! College student is a TOTAL RECLUSE and has a new neighbor… “…Why, Noah, why? The same three words keep him up at night, struggling for air while gripping a plastic cylinder containing white pills to match the white label with his name printed in ink as deep and dark as his memories—memories that turned him into a recluse. A shut-in. An introvert. Luckily for him, that’s not how the girl next door sees him...”
- Olivia by Ella Price <— LIVE!!! SHE MEETS HIM IN ANGER MANAGEMENT… “...After a brush with the law, she is tossed into anger management. As part of her therapy she is paired with Theodore Clark, a devilishly handsome, cocky playboy. Sparks fly as Teddy turns her world upside down…“
- Summer at Buttercup Beach: A gorgeously uplifting and heartwarming romance by Holly Martin <— LIVE!!! SOUNDS LIKE A SWEET CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE…
- Wolf Nip: Northern Lights Edition (Granite Lake Wolves Book 6) by Vivian Arend <— LIVE!!! PARANORMAL ROMANCE ALERT!
- Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer <— SHE LEAVES LETTERS TO HER DEAD MOTHER AT HER GRAVE… “…When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can’t resist writing back. Soon, he’s opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they’re not actually strangers…” Debbie recommends this one!
Debbie: The latest book I have read is Letters to the Lost, which has an interesting plot. The characters meet via a letter in a cemetery. I would rate it a 4, maybe 4.5. It is YA.

Happy 4th weekend! What is everyone doing? We’re going camping.
Camping?? They have camping in Chicago? Hee hee
Hey everyone. Black and Darkness Matters look good. Trying to resist…. No more one clicking. Sigh.
Anyway, tomorrow is my wedding anniversary! And we have another all star baseball game, 😆 ain’t parenthood grand.
Oh shush YOU! We’re going to Great Lakes Naval base.
Happy anniversary Grey!
Ok who wants to give Kitty Thomas another try? So far I think I’m 3:0, 3 I read and didn’t really like.
Happy anniversary Grey!
Ela, I’m tempted but I hate the price of her books. 5 dollars for less than 130 pages? Ugh. And Persephone and Hades are my favorite myth story. But I can’t justify the price when there are other books I can pay that much and get more pages.
See Michelle! Read that series! Dark Artifice!
I have to agree on that score Tessa! She/publisher charge too much for too little! I even think 2.99 for 100 something pages is too much!
Happy anniversary, Grey.
Ela, are you still going to go visit R?
Yes! I have 6.31 until next month. I’m not spending it on a book that will take me an hour and a half to read.
That said, end of the month! So it will go towards books on my wish list. American Queen looks tempting. Or I can finish off a series. Decisions!
Yes bev. I purchased my flight tickets already.
Alright, my favorite book for July was Lord of Shadows. It’s close enough to know that, and the book I started reading is DEFINITELY not a favorite. I’m thinking of GBL at the least. My mood makes nothing sound good right now.
I should finish today and guessing that A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue will be up there. Also Yes, Please by Amy Poehler.
Watch out Texas.
See if you can find her book and read it. Then edit it for Easter eggs for us. Give a character fairy wings for MichelleS. Randomly kill one off for Amy and then have his hand pop out of the grave on the last sentence for Maryse. R won’t notice.
bev that sounds all “Carrie”-ish. *shudders*
bev!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s an awesome idea but I bet she has numerous copies and backups, maybe they’re linked?
My June books are When Life Happened Ann, Jewel E. and American Hellhound (Dartmoor, #6) Gilley, Lauren.
My favorite read in June was Carry the Ocean. Hands down, favorite, no competition. It took me six books to come out the book fog that one left. I don’t care that it’s years old. I read it in June so it’s my June favorite. 😉
Happy Anniversay Grey! Ours was last week, we were on vacation at the time so we spent it at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Marengo Cave which was pretty fun. And we had dinner out bc we were on vacation so it’s kind of required. Lol. We usually don’t do anything special though.
4th weekend plans include Despicable Me 3, finishing up scout camp, and as long as the weather cooporates, a 4th festival and fireworks. Maybe I’ll talk the folks into going boating -no real set in stone plans. Which is nice because there’s been something on the schedule every day this summer so far.
Happy Anniversary Grey! How many years?
Favorite June reads: I gave these 5 stars… The Queen and the Cure, Carry the Ocean, Strong Enough.
Not sure what our 4th plans are yet. We usually have a big party, but we did that for Memorial Day and I just can’t do it again so soon. So now we are looking for something to do. There is a lake literally 3 miles away, so maybe a day at the lake? They have a big fireworks show over the lake. I just don’t want to leave my dogs. They get scared by the loud booms.
Tiffany Snow’s books 1 & 2 in The Corrupted Hearts series Follow Me and Break Me are on sale for $2. I’ve read both and looking forward to #3. This is I think my second favorite series of hers, next to Kathleen Turner.
My fourth plans involve swimming, swimming, swimming… lol And on Fourth of July, BBQ with smores. (Honestly, probably won’t eat the smores though. That BBQ, though. I’m dreaming of spare or baby back ribs. 😀 )
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY GREY!!! 😀
The Needing Moore box set is still only .99, and according to Leslie it is right up my book alley because it’s intense and not all sunshine and rainbows…YAY!!
YES, it really is. Total angst throughout the whole series. Read it!
I have a question for those who read it. Is Hearts Recaptured by Tillie Cole dark or about the same as It Ain’t Me, Babe?
Oh, Tessa wait…..brb…..
Got to scroll through but new sorting hat at Time.
This time I got Hufflepuff followed by Ravenclaw.
https://foreveryoungadult.com/2017/06/30/procrastination-pro-tips-june-30-2017/
WTF? I’m Hufflepuff? That thing is messed up! lol The house known for friendship and loyalty, while awesome traits, don’t really fit me. (Yes, I’m loyal, but befriends everyone? NOPE)
Alright, family made me realize. Loyalty, kindness, empathy… Fine. I’ll take it.
I’d say it’s pretty close to It Ain’t Me, Babe, it may be a little bit more darkish than the first book. Also I think as the sequels continue they kinda get darker???
Lol. I love how we take the sorting so seriously.
I need to work on my bravery.
Sorting is important! 😛
Hrm, I’m trying to decide between a few books.
Hearts Recaptured by Tillie Cole
All the Stars in the Sky by Sarah Lyons Fleming
Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder
Dry Spell by Margarita Gakis
Ha. You know you shudder in joy.
🙂
Since we are doing the Fabi’s Pick for me challenge for July let’s bring Maryse in. Because we do not push books on her enough.
If I was picking for Maryse: To Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil.
Backlist: The Last Hour of Gann.
Then cause procrastinating.
Not Maryse specific, lol.
Summer beach read: Yes, Please by Amy Poehler.
Backlist: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (add oomph by adding LMM narration)
Tessa – it is the same amount of dark…love that series though…
Bev – fairy wings! Yes!!! But he can just be a wingless Fae warrior & I’d be okay with that too. The Fae remain as the top predator – they can kick everyone’s a$$.
Though Deep Redemption was my favorite so far…
Tessa – have you read Dartmoor series? Liked it much better than Tillie Cole’s series.
I bought Fearless! I have been eyeing it, but I’m kind of in a slump. I don’t want to start a new series while in a slump. Those books are books I’m thinking of buying because they are on my “Continue” list. Now I added another. Fashionably Dead in Diapers. 😀 The series is cute. But Fire Study is the one that really seems to be calling to me.
I went with Fire Study. The series is so intricate, even though it’s been YEARS since I read the first two, I remember most of it.
MICHELLE! Go pick for me!
You must not forget TJ Klunes latest; A destiny of dragons!! I’ve been waiting for that book for MONTHS!!! It’s finally here!!! Love the writing and emotions of his books; and this is the second in this serie! The first book I laughed sooo hard while reading in the night; that I woke up my husband…
Tessa – I need some time to review your list. I’ve only read three on there!
I read D.G.’s post fast and I thought book was “Deep Penetration”. I was thinking D.G. reading some pretty racy stuff!! *giggles*
Best June read was Real Dirty duet by Meghan March.
LOL Leslie. As if DG would read a book like THAT!
Happy anniversary Grey (and belated to Tasha).
My only 5 star read for June was American Hellhound. It’s in the Fearless series by Lauren Gilley and I obviously second the recs for that. Also I love Susan Fanetti too. Her pagano family and also signal bend are books I’ve really enjoyed, although I haven’t been able to get into the brazen bulls as much. I haven’t read all of the signal bend ones yet either.
My other best read for June was The Last Hellion, a well-written and enjoyable HR by Loretta Chase. I 4-starred it, which is generous for me LOL.
In a completely different vein, I also like Katy Regnery’s sweet CRs, so I will read the new one up there, The Director and Don Juan. Her books are nothing earth-shattering, but they are sweet sexy reads.
Another new release (comes out July 1, which is today already in Australia) is No Kind Of Hero by Rosalind James. Book 2 in the Portland Devils series. I liked book 1, so I will get this one too. Also sweet CRs like Katy Regnery.
Thanks everyone, it will be 17 years! I was a baby when I got married… 😆 Happy belated anniversary to Tasha too!
So, for June, my best book was Rush by Emma Scott. Thank you, Fabi, it was my Pick-for-You challenge read! I really love these challenges, it’s awesome that I’m getting books cleaned out of my TBR!
For the 4th… we’re redoing our kitchen floor… LOL! We’ll take the kids to see fireworks somewhere, but we have all-stars baseball stuff this week, so no big trips or anything.
Thank you, Maryse, as always for rocking this place for us!!
To all of our friends traveling this weekend, be safe!
Based on a GR discussion I’m trying to imagine us going on an European vacation together, lol.
It tickles my fancy.
I guess it wouldn’t be that different than meeting up with a tour group.
I wonder who’d be the navigator? Who’d be the one to wonder off? Who’d wind up in a foreign prison when a meet cute turns into him smuggling drugs in her carry on?
OMG let’s go on that trip!!!
Wander off. I wonder about wandering.
bev that sounds like the best. I’d LOVE to go on that trip with you guys. We’d have so many laughs.
Who’d lose their luggage?
Who’d hookup with the Russian guy with the cute accent behind the hotel desk? (Or who’d hook up BEHIND the hotel desk?) Wait, what??
Who lose their kindle and go into a meltdown?
Who would wake up with a huge tattoo in a very visible place?
Hahaha.
In the last week have read…..
PLAY YOUR HEART OUT by Crystal Kassel. Enjoyed 4 stars. Part of a series but is a standalone
UNTIL IT FADES by K A Tucker
Really good. Well written. Good editing. 4.5 stars. Lighter than she usually writes
It sounds like heaven to go on a girls trip European tour. I have not done much traveling.
Hey R.! That can be your next book. You can write about all the shenanigans we get into during our travels. 😉
Julio o, I have been wanting to read Until it Fades!! Yay! Glad it was a good one.
Leslie! I don’t write *those* kinds of books! 😀
P.S. Look what just got added to the top of this list. Forbidden is on super-sale!! Holy. Moly.
Amy I think bev would. 😉 Of Simon. Or Sherlock.
Maryse is like I want that tattoo.
R, you could write about Grey and the Russian.
This is basically what Nikki is doing with KMM fans.
Nikki I’m totally gossiping about you.
yeah but bev YOU would end up with that tattoo, and we’d giggle so hard!!! 😛
Congratulations Grey!!!!!!! :D!!!!
Wait? What? I’m the tattoo?
Ok…in London. A deerstalker. In the morning I give Amy “looks”. We know the instigator. MichelleS keeps reminding me I now have to READ the books nor just watch adaptations if I’m to carry it off.
*raises hand* From personal experience, I’d be the one to wander off. I’ve done that enough times that my family knows to keep an eye on me. (I still haven’t seen England in Epcot as a result).
If we lose you we will search the castles.
😀 Pretty much where I’ll be.
I’m going through a small book slump. I hope it doesn’t turn into a huge one because those suck.
I should be clear that a book slump for me does not mean bad books. It just means I can’t seem to READ…at least for extended periods of time.
I’m totally into A Gentleman’s Guide. It is fun and the pacing is perfect so even though over 500 pages I normally would of flown through it.
A few days a go I took a book, Miss You, to lunch. Love the premise great writing. I was so focused the waiter had to ask me twice to get my attention. Then my attention never went back.
Things that have happened when I have sat down to read instead of reading:
Watched Golden Girls.
Wonder if I should give cheesecake another shot.
Read a blog post on Kasey Musgrave decorating her living room.
Listened to Kasey Musgrave on Spotify.
Wonder if I would like a pink couch like hers…..no I like the blue.
Realize I haven’t watched 10 Things I Hate about you in years.
Watch 10 Things
Realize I’m still jealous of Julia Stiles hair in that movie.
Realize Heath Ledger did have the best smile.
Bought 5 books
Look through Bollywood movie suggestions from Sonali Dev
Made a list of books if like to READ next
Found a house is like to buy….if I lived in Galveston
Downloaded a Bollywood movie
Imagined an imaginary European vacation
Wrote this rambling post
I had a very long long slump like this a couple years ago. Did marathon a lot of good shows, but just hope this will not be that long.
Wait…what? You guys go from congratulating me on my anniversary to saying I’m gonna have a fling with a hot Russian on our excursion to Europe?? Well… It could be a pitcher of White Russians, right?!? 😆
You guys! YOU GUYS!!
*runs and stumbles into the room*
The Covenant series is ON SALE!!!!!!! My most favoritest PNR series with it’s only rival being Twilight…and as much as I loved Edward, Aiden is MY Edward always and forever!!!
And…and…AND! You can get all five full-length books together for 11.45 right now and they have gorgeous covers and it doesn’t have the novella Elixir but you HAVE to read Elixir because it’s Aiden’s POV and he is amazing and will make you fall HARD in that one!
*tries to catch breath*
*looks around*
Soooo…what are y’all up to?
😀 You got an ultimate Pick for Me. And I agree, Covenant is one of the BEST.
That said, I don’t think I like Heath Ledger’s smile. It kind of creeps me out. Odd, I know.
Oh and Amy, since they are on sale… make sure you get all the Titan series books.
You know, I’ve read every PNR she’s read so far. I just really like Titan because Seth. 😀
As much as Aiden was my guy, Seth was definitely entertaining without being obnoxious. He was the perfect love-hate character for me.
Remind me, Tessa…are the Titan books all his POV or is it dual? I could actually handle his-only POV since I’m already familiar with him. 😉
*snorrrrrt!* bev, you put into words PERFECTLY what it is like for us to be in a book slump!
I’m torn between engrossing myself in a new read or binge watching GoT since they are showing the series on HBO right now starting with the first episode in anticipation of the new season…
It’s dual POV and you’ll absolutely love Josie. She’s awesome. Seth’s POV are very, well, Seth. lol
Yes, Amy you have to check in to GR for Fabi & Anna.
I know. I just got my kindle out….and am now painting my nails (badly) and “listening” to Tessa and you talk about Covenant. 🙂
Oh yay!! July pick-for-me!!! *claps hands*
Do realize how giddy I am knowing you’re painting your nails? Something about watching or even picturing nails being painted is so soothing to me. 😉
Oh ladies. So far so funny but so horrible too. Lol.
I think you might enjoy this audio clip from Audible: https://a.co/8LsdBjq
Then his dad loses a pick up game to him and his brother and sets his dog on them.
Ooh. Just saw Nia Forrester has a brand new book out, The Lover. How did I miss that? I have FLOVED some of her books.
*click*
Happy birthday, Paula!!!
I haven’t watched any GoT… thought about it though. I wonder if they are available on demand.
I’m going to go start my Pick-for-Me, A Lover’s Lament, right now. *squee* There are some AWESOME pics this month, I just posted the pretty results list. I am jealous at some of you reading some of those for the first time. Jezebel… The Opportunist… A Fallen Crest book, *throws glitter* seriously, so much fun!
I still have to pick the themed book for bev’s challenge too, and it is *my* month… Numbers, a book that has something to do with numbers. Perfect, because I only have eleventy billion books with a number in the title. Wow, RME at myself, that was a brilliant idea… NOT!
I know Grey!! That’s why I was freaking out (all by my lonesome, I might add *side-eyes all of you GR ladies who were off doing obviously more important things*)…those three books plus Love, In English *swoony sigh* as well as Maybe in Another Life and then Jean having Accidentally on Purpose selected for her!!! *bounces in seat* I’m so excited for all of them to read those books for the first time.
Tessa…I have a feeling I will be running to Seth from time to time while reading Life of Anna just to get a break from all of the intensity. HE will be the perfect escape from what I have ahead of me. 😉
Okay, book with a number in it for this month…
Alright, who is reading 13 Reasons Why as their number book this month? Huh?
Hey, I’m over here talking to myself all the time.
Hmmm…that’s very true. 😛
Just remember… You have Aiden. I get Seth. 😛
Honestly I’m most excited about Ela’s. She’s got Playing with Monsters. How could I not be excited about that. It makes me want to sing and skip.
Bev, you can gossip about me all you want! And yes I have seen talks of tattoos in the group’s that I am in… maybe i’ll get a I love JZB on my forehead
Amy and/or other PNR lovers, I don’t seem to have this Covenant series on my list of PNRs to try…what’s up with that?!? My library has it. 🙂 Question, do you read Daimon first or Half-Blood?
One of these days I am gonna love PNR and tackle my list.
*gives Tessa thumbs up* Deal!
Leslie…Daimon is a quick prequel (and free on Amazon right now) so you could read it first. I actually read it after Half-Blood and it was no big deal. It just follows Alex (the h) for that week or so before she is found and taken back. When you’re ready to tackle to your PNR list, Covenant is the best place to start!! But that’s just my opinion. 😉
*runs to download Daimon*
Crap!!! Not free anymore. Oh well, my library has it, so no biggie.
I started with Daimon first. That book hooked me and had me reading the whole series up to where it ended at the time. Sucks that it was free and now isn’t.
What the heck! It seriously was free when I checked before I posted that, and within what, an hour? It’s not free anymore??
🙁 Sorry Leslie! But I hope you love JA’s books as much as Tessa and I do.
Hey, Tessa…should I rec UTEOTW to Leslie? *giggle*
It is just so cool, Niki. I’ve always wanted to see Ireland.
Leslie, it is ok if PNR doesn’t work for you. Covenant might be more UF?
Listen to bev, Leslie. I still haven’t nailed the whole PNR and UF difference. 😉
Tessa, two words…guitar and pick. Am I right? Sweetest. Moment. Ever. At least in that series. 😉
OMG YOU GUYS!!!! Did you see Maryse’s Saturday update up there?!?
FORBIDDEN IS ON SALE!! But if you’re going to read it, avoid spoilers at all costs. Holy moly…my gut and heart just clenched seeing that book. Never did I think I’d read a book like that but I know that never again will we find one like it. *rubs chest with fist* Damn…
Three Dark Crown is on sale. It’s the one I’m going to read for Grey’s theme. Great cover too.
Hunted is also on sale, have that one, unread, too.
Where would you ladies want to go if you could travel anywhere?
I want to go everywhere so a hard time pinning it down.
Ooh, I saw that (Three Crowns) and clicked it! Let us know what you think of it.
I would want to go on a European tour of castles in multiple countries and then wrap it all up with a week in the Bahamas. 😀
Happy 4th weekend everyone! Happy Anniversary Grey! We got home friday and I am just catching up on posts and comments. My daughter’s surgery went well and she is doing extremely well. No weight bearing for 6 weeks so she’s in a wheelchair, which she is enjoying maneuvering around my freshly painted foyer and dining room- I see paint touch ups in my future. 🙂
I did get to finish the Player duet. I loved it. I think I liked book one better than two, but both were well written and just what I needed while staying in the hospital with her.
Lol. I like it, Amy. You plan big.
I’m super stoked about Ela reading Playing with Monsters… Because I chose it for her, LOL! But a little nervous, too….same reason! And because it was my top book of 2016, so yeah, no pressure or anything. Haha!
I started A Lover’s Lament this am before my hubby declared it was time to start work on our kitchen floor. *save me and send bail money!* I am really liking it so far.
Still haven’t picked my numbers book yet. Ooh ultimate vacation? Beaches on every continent. And the normal touristy type spots, I haven’t Really been anywhere so I would just love to see the world… And have someone else pay for it. Haha!
Yay Cheryl, glad to hear your daughter is doing well… Hope she heals quickly with a minimum of pain and scrapes to the paint 😆
She will be doing tricks in her chair before she is done.
Heyyyyyyy Madeline Sheehan fans!! Did you see what just went live? I posted it at the top of this post and also updated this reading order with the big news: https://www.maryse.net/reading-order-guide/madeline-sheehan-undeniable-series-reading-order.html 😉
That’s awesome……except I do not remember who they are, lol.
ROFL Me neither. I stopped with that one girl’s story with the guy she crushed on. It was just so sad that she took someone who was an awesome character and turned her into that.
Yeah Cheryl! So happy everything went well. It says a lot that you are smiling about touch ups. 😀
So much of Covenant was romantic. She would NOT like UTEOTW. She doesn’t look for action in PNR, she looks for romance. There’s enough romance in Covenant, but in UTEOTW, there isn’t. I still have to read The Stars in the Sky.
Amy… it’s as if we are always searching for a book like it. Maybe not the “story” per se… but something with that level of oomph. THAT is what I’m looking for.
Niki you need to take Amy and Maryse with you so they can detox, lol.
Watching Hidden Figures. Been wanting to for awhile.
I have been going through my manage content and devices section to put everything in one collection. Sometimes they are in none, sometimes in like, two, three one was in five! It’s taking me FOREVER. I’ve been doing this for a few days now. lol Yet, now that I know this option is here, I MUST do it. Thanks OCD. Grrr
Amy which was better: Covenant or Forbidden? 😛
Oh and going through these books, there were quite a few I paid for. Who knew? I don’t even know if I read them or not.
Aw Cheryl, glad your baby girl is doing well!!
That’s right, bev…if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well. And what’s up with detox? Maryse and I don’t have a problem, do we my angsty twin?!?
Got it, Tessa…no UTEOTW for her then. 😉
Did you seriously just ask me to pick between Forbidden and Covenant? Damn fightin’ words, those are. *shakes head*
Maryse…SO true. If it’s too similar I compare it unfairly and if it doesn’t elicit the same feels I judge it unfairly. Poor unsuspecting books. 😉
Hidden Figures was AMAZING . Should not of waited so long to watch it
Maryse, that is a cute video….but give her the cookie.
She just wants a cookie.
It reminds me of this.
https://smartbitchestrashybooks.com/reviews/bawdy-bookworms-box/
But you need this.
https://barkbox.com
LOL bev!!
Er… I ate the cookie. Cookies. *blink blink*
Yeah!
The only thing I need to detox from is my cookie addiction. 😉
Starting a movement.
G-PAC.
Give Pim a Cookie.
Unless it was Hobbit?
A hobbit needs 2 cookies.
LOL!!!
A “Hobbit” is too polite to demand cookies.
That was definitely Princess Pim. 😉
Everyone should come to Dublin!! It’s going to be so much fun!! KMM said she is going to give us a tour of fever spots wearing the MacHalo 🙂
Now that Undeserving is out…supposedly she is working on the third Holy Trinity to be released end of 2017….we will see I guess!!!
Going to start one of Tessa’s favorites tonight!
OMG Niki!!!!!!!!!!
That would be a DREAM trip for me. The ultimate location, the ultimate author telling us about the ultimate series while we are THERE. OMG. Please. I want that trip!!!
*putting it out in the Universe*
I wish Niki. Really it is so cool. Except she will be touring with maniacs that could get wild. 😉
At Christmas I should just buy myself a ticket somewhere for the summer. Then I’d actually have to go, lol.
Fallen Crest Public! *sighs* Had to, because Mason.
Yeah, KMM giving you the tour of Dublin? That’s awesome. Does everyone get a MacHalo? I want one of those. 😀
Alright, best news there, Hoping to complete the third book of The Holy Trinity by the end of 2017!!!! OMG That would be SOOOOO good.
And LAST! I think I did read Fire Study. I’m not sure but I think so…
Sweet baby dragons, I HOPE we will finally get the last Holy Trinity book!!!
Look at Maryse and Amy in all their Marmy-ness rec’ing Forbidden to all the unsuspecting blog members.
LOL Leslie!!! Maybe it’s a sweet, heartwarming, fulfilling book… 😉
I loved Hidden Figures movie. Those ladies are amazing piece of our history.
Sarah’s Child by Linda Howard is on sale.
I still get mad thinking of this book. The heroine needs to throat punch the hero.
So amazing.
Bev, in EVERY Linda Howard book, the heroine needs to throat punch the hero. That’s why I loved the ones I read.
Ladies, ladies. So aggro! Settle down, please!
True…but this one more so. Seriously the heroine should of made some….. choices.
Someone asked Madeline on her FB page when she was taking questions…” My Heart & Soul will be the final book in the Holy Trinity and I’m planning on a late 2017 publication”
I’m just quoting it because she was answering questions and some wonderful person asked her about it. So I hope it’s true!!!
Tessa, I’m actually going the fantasy/paranormal route first.
regarding this quote: –“My Heart & Soul will be the final book in the Holy Trinity and I’m planning on a late 2017 publication”–
I’ll believe it when I see it! lol I’m not going to get my hopes up. For now, I’m just going to be thankful that Undeserving is finally out!
Alright, I read so many PNR, I’m lost. lol Covenant?
Can we start with a little trip to Vegas or something? We seriously should do that.
Covenant – I read a bunch, but didn’t finish. No clue why. I was a Seth girl myself.
I’m looking up numbers books now. I’ve got Girl 99 & 180 Seconds. Any suggestions? I tried googling romance books with numbers in title, but it gave me things like Fahrenheit 451. Not a romance!
MichelleS… I hear it smells WAYYYYY TOO smokey in Vegas. I’m kind of scared of Vegas. I opt for a nice refreshing trip to green ol’ Ireland! We can see rocks! 😀 And drink beer. And sing folk songs.
Covenant – I think it was the fact that there were Novellas mixed in that got me in that series? Just give me three books and a complete story & im happy.
“Alright, I read so many PNR, I’m lost. lol Covenant?” <——– You wound me…
MichelleS…I made a collection with number books for this month's challenge, and I have about four dozen of them. Do you want me to post a list on GR so you can see if you want to borrow one? As long as it is lendable, that is.
Also, not all of the titles have the actual number but maybe a word number, like One of Us is Lying.
The last one in the Court Of Thorns and Roses… brain lapse and can’t think of the name…
Vegas? Well they do have gondolas.
And the Eiffel Tower…
But…..any Scottish accents?
Aww Amy. The lol was about how many PNR I have read. Covenant just made sense as an answer.
Niki! *squee* That series rocks, right? Just insane awesome.
BEV! I can honestly say I’ve heard a Scottish accent while in Vegas! It was a couple strolling down the strip, but I heard it!
Okaaay, so as we’ve discussed ad nauseam on GR, would I love the Covenant series now as much as I would have loved it 4 years ago??
And what’s the difference between the Covenant series and the Lux series?
I think I have most of the books from both series, but I’ve never read any of them!
Nay I often wonder if I’d still 5-star-crazy-love some of the books I read back when I first went crazy over romance/paranormal romance back in 2008 and 2009. Would they still affect me the same way? Would I still 5 star them? I know through the years I’ve read and re-read Beautiful Disaster, and that one did seem to still affect me just as deeply. Z’s book, too. I wonder about the others…?
LOL, Tessa. Some how it still doesn’t sound as magical.
How about Prague?
Maryse I’ve thought about the same thing with my older 5 star reads. If I read them now, would I still give 5 stars, or have my reading tastes moved on?
Oh Maryse, you are too funny! Luckily, I seek out spoilers before diving into a Marmy. 😉
And R. is pushing me to read Full Tilt!! What is the world coming to?
Lil’ ol me read a heartbreaking book????
*horrified gasp*
Nay, I re-read Covenant within the last year, and it’s still awesome. Probably the same with Lux. Also, I’ve read her other series including the spin-off from the Covenant and well, that one makes me swoon because it’s about Seth. lol
The stories are different. Lux is a scifi about a an alien (who is a big jerk type bully!) who came to earth as a baby and the girl who moves in next door who is super sweet and loves to read. I am totally not selling it, but trust me, it’s good.
Covenant is fantasy about demi-gods. The gods stopped having demi-gods and the ones they have marry and intermarry. If they go and get attacked by a daimon, they become daimons themselves. (basically evil demi-gods who drink blood) They also have children with humans, which are called half-bloods. All half bloods are tested and are either servants or soldiers. No in between. Any and all relationships between them is forbidden. The heroine is a half-blood and the hero is a full blood. 😀
I always get Covenant and the Meade series mixed up in my head.
Tessa–you had me at “evil demi-gods who drink blood”!!!
It kinda-ish reminds me of Vampire Academy. I’ve got most of the books, so I need to give it a try since I’ve heard y’all gush and gush over it!
I honestly like both Vampire Academy and Covenant, but for me personally, I like Covenant better. I like the writing style and it doesn’t have parts that drag. I think it’s blood, or their soul. Either way, EBUL! 😀
Bev, I think I don’t because I honestly just like Covenant more. Either that, or just because I honestly like Myth characters more than vampires.
It is probably because I have only read one of each.
It’s funny cause I’m used to seeing Amy go swoony over plot twists more than heroes.
Oh no. I can see why she’s swoony over Aiden. He’d quite the gentleman, and forbidden! Seth is a jerk… which is why I swoon over him.
Exactly…what Tessa said about Covenant and Lux. Covenant is the ONLY series (or any book, for that matter) which I have re-read. Actually, I re-read the series up through Elixir before Sentinel came out. And they’re probably the only books I would seriously consider re-reading again.
So, NAY!!! I hope you give ’em a try!! I read the VA series first and really liked it, and when I first started Half-Blood I thought it was a copy-cat series. But OMG it’s not! Alex isn’t like Rose…Rose seemed to be a cocky about being a bada$$ and was that way all so she could protect her friend, whereas Alex is a bada$$ (and makes some of the most cringeworthy decisions sometimes) who is a bada$$ simply because it’s either that or become drugged, enslaved, and abused.
And Aiden…ohhhhhhhhh, my amazing Aiden… *sigh*
You’re right, bev…I definitely tend to swoon over the plots more than the heroes anymore, but there are still the few who stand out to me. 😉
Maryse! Vegas isn’t as smokey as it used to be in the casinos! Hubby and I went often for years (that’s what happens when you live within driving distance) and it used to be AWFUL! Our suitcases and everything in them would reek of smoke before but the last couple of recent times we went, the casinos seemed to be ventilated and our clothes had virtually NO smoke smell to them.
Okay, back to Life of Anna and an early indulgence of these ;):
https://hoosierhomemade.com/4th-of-july-jello-shots/
I have no idea why I never read that series! Especially after loving the VA series SO much. I’m going to have to really (no, I mean it–REALLY) set aside some time to at least start it. And from what y’all are saying, I’ll probably want to read straight through it!
Yesssss…. but you can’t have the men. They are taken. 😛
I know this will be a shock, but Seth started to beat out Mason in the last book of his series. He’s just so wonderful.
See now you lost me! Demi-god, daimon, half-blood, full-blood?!? Huh????
This is why I have hard time with fantasy genres. All these weird things make my head spin.
