HAPPY ALMOST HALLOWEEN!! Probably already Halloween for most of us, since so many dress up for work and school. Yep, this Halloween is so much cooler ’cause we actually get TWO days of Halloween. 😀 Speaking of which… I’ve posted a few horror books amongst our latest book finds! I know… not everyone loves the scary stuff, but I just can’t resist my awesome-halloween mood, and the thrill I get from some of these scary blurbs.
But! Never fear!! There are plenty of romances and sexy alpha males to choose from, below. Actually, most “finds” are love stories, as that is always my favorite. I LOVE love. Plus some married couple troubles (love troubles in books are fun too) AND a few pregnancy *oopses*! LOL! 😀
What I’m reading right now? Room: A Novel by Emma Donoghue, ’cause it sounds just creepy enough for my Halloween mood, and Lisa and Allison both recommend it!
Lisa: Oh my goodness Maryse. Room is an amazing book. At times I had to put it down and walk away to catch my breath. A child’s POV saves it from becoming unbearably dark I think. Its not one you can forget that’s for sure.
Allison: Room was very heavy. I read it probably not long after it came out and it stayed with me. It’s one of those books. It will always be with me. I hear a huge kidnapping story in the news, like Elizabeth Smart or those 4 young girls that were kept together, and I don’t know. I just look at those stories through different eyes since reading Room. Such an amazing, well-written book.
But first, I’m gonna highlight the most recommended book of the week. Walk Through Fire (Chaos) by Kristen Ashley —> And I MEAN it sounds like EVERYONE is loving this and like it’s pure “old-school” Kristen Ashley magic. So if you haven’t read it yet, or were waiting for reviews, it appears this one is proven tried and true and PERFECT for us!!

Finished reading The Queen by Tiffany Reisz. This is the last book in the series, but it was a lovely, sweet farewell to my Soren, Nora and Kingsley. Soren did indeed give Nora Everything and she gave him Forever. My heart is a squishy mess right now. Everyone got their HEA. This is one of the best book series out there. Tiffanys writing is so real. She brings her characters to life and you could imagine yourself at times in their world. If you haven’t read these books you Need to.
Now I’m reading Walk Through Fire and oh gosh, that KA has me again! She’s pure gold!
Oh and Crazy Bitch from the Alexa O’Brien series by Trina Lee came out today! Alexa, Arys and Shaz!! This is book 10! Another favorite of mine. I’m on overload!! Yeehaw!
Bad Wicked Twisted. If you can get it, do. That series is just super fun. Remember the guy who was creepy watching his neighbor? That’s this series. 😀

Just to add, the books in the Truth In Lies series follow the main characters, Tally & Linc. I seriously debated not starting book 2 because book 1 tore my gut up!! * sorry Amy, Manny needs a good cleaning before I give him back* But, I am reading book 2, it’s angsty too, but I feel like I am managing it better because of what the storyline is about. Having said that, I’ve had a hard time understanding how the h has handled what happened. At 50-60% it’s now starting to make sense. I will read book 3, but I’m scared because the author said “I hope you enjoy the book, but have tissues and drugs handy. Advil may not be enough this go ’round. And, I hope you still love me in the end…” *thunk*

It looks like the awkward silence was broken already, but I’ve been struck with a STUPID flu today (on Halloween of all days, dangit) and in my feverish state I remembered something that made me start giggling to the point where my hubby freaked out thinking the Tylenol wasn’t working and that my brain was frying, LOL! Anyways, I’ll share it and see if I can make things even more awkward for ya, Bev. 😛 So, my “random remembering”…
I can’t remember all of the details so I’m going to paraphrase as best I can, but it was some book I read quite a while ago when I was at the height of my YA PNR-reading days where fairies are actually plants and the females have flowers that grow out of their backs instead of wings. And those flowers are used in reproduction. Yeah, how would you like your vulva on your back for all the guys to see, ladies? WTF. Just…W. T. F. But the HILARIOUS part is when this guy fairy gets some kind of guy fairy stuff on her (can’t remember if it was pollen or glitter or whatever) and he tells her that it has something to do with reproduction…the guy totally PE’d fairy style on her!!! *snorrrrrrrrrt*
Okay, back to my honey lemon tea and soup. Mmmmm, soup. Me and soup are best buds right now. 😉

Reading book 3- Tell Me Something True and I have to say the MC’s are just as f*cking dysfunctional and their personal lives are just as devastating as Tristan & Danika. Book 1 definitely had the highest angst level, but book 3 is the most devastating. My next book has to be lighthearted and funny while my heart and gut recover. *crawling back into blankie fort with Manny*
So is that where everyone went? I miss you guys. My sister just left yesterday and I had the blues… *sniff sniff* It’s so hard when you spend every waking moment with someone and and bond all over again, and then they have to go. Kind of like when I get really attached to a book and the characters, and then it’s done. Especially when it’s a series and you marathon read it, and then I spend the day in a book fog missing them.
I was in one of those fogs yesterday.

All the UK people. I am completely obsessed with your BBC Desert Island Disc. OBSESSED, lol. Just heard of it a couple days ago and can’t stop listening. Great stories and music. Just wish the podcast played the whole cut. I wish I had it when sick a bit ago. Amy give it a whirl if you are not up to reading. Obsessed.
Maryse, speaking of missing family. I listened to Judi Dench ep of above show and for awhile she her husband, daughter, mom, and in laws all lived together. They’d had a vacation together and missed them so much when gone her husband suggested it.
Paula, I just finished book 3. It is good and worth it to get to the end of Linc and Tally’s journey. I can see why that one reviewer said that, it seems just when you think that nothing else can happen to them and that finally they will be happy, something far worse happens. It was a hard read, nothing about their relationship has been rainbows and unicorns- I equate it to Tristan & Danika’s devastating, dysfunctional relationship. My only complaint about this series is it is a rollercoaster of emotions to read, but the endings wrap up quickly- especially 1 & 2. I now need time to decompress and read something with rainbows and unicorns. 😉

Okay, so I had to look up that fairy book I was blabbering on about the other day because – I kid you not – I was frequently snorting at the most random moments every time I would think about it this weekend. It was Wings by Aprilynne Pike. I don’t even remember if I really liked it or not because nothing really stands out (except for the pollenating thing) and I didn’t star it in my spreadsheet. *shrugs* I just remember being pulled in by the pretty cover while I was at the height of my YA PNR reading frenzy.
