Amy:Β I started A Hunger Like No Other… and Iβm falling for Lachlain already. That scene where heβs coming towards her and tossing tables and easelsβ¦for some reason that one was cracking me up, especially when he points and says βyouβ and she looks around for the βunfortunate βyouββ heβs pointing at, and then she realizes itβs HER. *snicker*
- In His Kiss (Love On The North Shore Book 4)Β by Christina Tetreault <—Β LIVE!!Β SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE ALERT!!! - Easy Virtue: The Complete SeriesΒ by Mia Asher <— MIA ASHER BOOK BUNDLE ALERT!!!Β This duet is complete, bundled and super-bargain priced right now!!
Cheryl: I just finished Sweetest Venom and I loved it!! A 5* read. The only negative was the ending could have been longer. My stomach was twisted in knots throughout. And Blaire, my heart hurt for her, no matter how misguided she could be and times I want to slap her. It was quite the angsty journey and I may not have needed the blankie fort, but I did need wine, chocolate and kleenex. Have to say I loved this book more than EV. Now I need something lighthearted. π
Amy: The last page in that bookβ¦*oomph!* Trying not to spoil anything here, but I want *someone* to pull a Dave Chappelle and do an βIβm rich b!tch!β to her. BUT I canβt hate her, just what she is doing. As much as I should, I just donβt hate her. *shrug*

I bet this one’s twisty!!! “Thereβs a lot Jean hasnβt said over the years about the crime her husband was suspected of committing. She was too busy being the perfect wife, standing by her man while living with the accusing glares and the anonymous harassment.Β Now thereβs no reason to stay quiet…“
bev: Maryse?? Have you heard of The Widow? Just saw a A review for it. Guess it is a psych/thriller/mystery type like Gone Girl and Girl on the Train. A bit tempted.
Leah: Just finished The Widow by Fiona Barton, a good one if you want psychological suspense.
- Ghostface KillerΒ by M. Never <— LIVE!!! SHE WAS ONCE HOMELESS & NOW A TRAINED KILLER BUT SHE’S GOT AN ISSUE NOW... “They call me Ghostface Killer because they never see me coming.Β I understand the weight of that danger. - Rite of Rejection (Acceptance Book 1)Β <— YA DYSTOPIAN ALERT!! Oooooh it sounds good. The “machine” rejected her as a future potential criminal and now she’s in a prison… “…A life behind barbed wire fences with the worldβs most dangerous people terrifies Rebecca. She reluctantly joins a band of misfit teens in a risky escape plan, complete with an accidental fiancΓ© sheβs almost certain she can learn to love.Β But freedom comes with a price...” (and it’s super-bargain priced right now). π
- Standing His Ground: Greer (Porter Brothers Trilogy Book 2)Β by Jamie Begley <— LIVE!!! - AnimalΒ by Marni Mann <— DARK READ ALERT!!!Β Back on the list ’cause this is one recent release thatΒ Jean went CRAZY over!
Jean: Oh guys, Iβve been meaning to mention how much I am LOVING Animal by Marni Mann! IT IS BETTER THAN PRISONED! And, you donβt have to read Prisoned first to read this one! I started it yesterday at lunch, read all night after work, and am at 75% now. Finishing it up at lunch. Can you say total mindf*%kery?!?! Wow, just wow!
Jean: YOU GUYS! I AM FREAKING OUT! JUST FINISHED ANIMAL AND YOU HAVE TO READ IT! THAT ENDING! THAT EPILOGUE! WTF?!?! *OK, DONE RANT*
bev:Β So would you say you enjoyed it, Jean?
Linda:Β Bev lol. Well Jean did you enjoy it??!! Your comment seemed a little subtle.
Jean:Β I FREAKING LOVED IT! CANβT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT!
Jean:Β It can totally be read as a standalone… but I did read Prisoned first which gave you some insight into the darkness! The characters from Prisoned are not in the 2nd book though, and the characters from Animal were not in the first book. My mind is just totally blown from this book! Luckily I buddy read it with my friend. We both finished last night and canβt stop talking about it today!
- The Night MarkΒ by Tiffany Reisz <— LIVE!!! TIFFANY REISZ ALERT!!! Strength can come even in the hardest times, and if you’re willing to fight for love, nothing can stand in your way...”
- Strange the DreamerΒ by Laini Taylor <— LIVE!!! FANTASY BOOK ALERT!!! “Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he’s been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself…” andΒ Jaime found us this one!
Jaime:Β Also, Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor came out on Tuesday. I havenβt had a chance to read it yet, but if itβs written as beautifully as her Daughter of Smoke and Bone series itβs bound to be a winner!
- Extracted (Extracted Trilogy Book 1)Β by RR Haywood <— WHAT TO READ AFTER DARK MATTER ALERT!!! Fabi found us this one and LOVED IT!! P.S. OMG I LOVED Dark Matter and would love to read another crazy-twisty book in that genre. YAY ME!!!
Fabi: Where are my sci-fi peeps??? I just hit another jackpot with one of those Kindle First picks. This one falls under the βwhat to read after Dark Matterβ list.Itβs called Extracted by R.R. Haywood. I listened to Carl Prekoppβs narration and I donβt know if Iβm more in love with the characters or with his narration. But, I gotta tell you, the combination is to die for.
The sequel comes out this summer. This first one leaves things up in the air somewhat but I didnβt feel like it was huge cliffhanger.
If you like the Dark Matter type of sci-fi where the focus is more on the characters than on the science, then you really should try this one. Youβll get the narration at a deeply discounted price if you have the Kindle version. Check your Kindle First, it may still be available, then add Carlβs narration because it is not to be missed.
:-/ sorry about all the gushing. Iβm obviously a little excited about this one.
- Goodbye ParadiseΒ by Sarina Bowen <—Β SARINA BOWEN’S LATEST M/M ROMANCE ALERT!!! And now we have some great feedback!
MichelleS: I was up until midnight finishing Goodbye Paradiseβ¦. on a work day. Thanks a lot, Fabi. I blame you for my yawning today. But I loved it!
- Still Waters (Greenstone Security Book 1)Β by Anne MalcomΒ <— LIVE!! BIKER BOOK ALERT!!! HE TAUGHT HER HOW TO BE STILL…“The only way to handle chaos is to become it.Β Thatβs what Lucy did. She created stillness out of the chaos tumbling inside her and called the most chaotic motorcycle club in the United States her family.Β The Sons of Templar gave her chaos, friendship, family, danger and death.Β But she wouldn’t want it any other way.Β Then he came. The one who showed her that her handle on chaos was tumultuous at best…”

What? Where the sleepy heads at? Maryse is getting to these lists earlier and earlier!
Move over, Ela…and thanks for saving my spot!! Finally a list that I don’t have any to one-click from…because I mostly already did π Now back to The Opposite of You!!
*cry* a Tiffany Reisz is live and I can’t I have it yet. Gah, this truly hurts me.
I actually JUST clicked The Widow over on Amazon and then came here to share how great it sounds, but apparently bev beat me to it. Great minds think alike, right? π It DOES sound like it’s going to be a fabulously interesting one.
I got sprayed with blood yesterday and it was SO not cool. Here’s to hoping for a better day today. π Have a beautiful day, ladies!!
I don’t want to start anything because The Chisen by JR Ward is almost here! She is still my favorite author and I will drop everything for a BDB book. I do think I am going to cave into reader peer pressure and read The Opposite of You.
If you want a dark, sad read, start Garden of Goodbyes. It is that good – but there is no sunshine at all. It’s dark. You see it all coming from the beginning and it won’t stop you from wishing for a happy ending.
Devil You Know was excellent too and I am looking forward to the next books! It was on the long side, and I was fine with that! I am such a glutton for the damaged hero.
*shoves Lisa on her butt* It’s my turn you hussy!
Sadly Sharon, Leslie, Amy and I did a BR of Garden of Goodbyes and it was just not the book for me, rather than liking it it pissed me very much off! And the dark aspect was totally lost on ME. But glad YOU liked it.
The Opposite of You!!!! 5 freaking floving LOVIN stars! Just want it noted that I one thousand percent agree with Maryse!
Everyone…just go ahead and read it!!!! Like NOW!!!
Amy *shakes head* now you’re making me think of those damn “IT” clowns all over FB….yes blood = nasty bloody clowns *shivers*
It’s the last day of the month so I’m going to jump right in with my favorite book in March.
Bang Gang by Jade West
Hands down favorite. Nothing else even came close. Silly, silly me let this one sit in my tbr for over a year.
This one is no tease. Title and cover deliver the goods. It’s also a beautiful 2nd chance romance that had me crying over a couple of scenes. The rest of the time my tummy was tied up like a pretzel.
It’s just gorgeous. I don’t normally like kids in my romance novels but these were integral to the plot. I don’t normally like 2nd chance romance because I hate the time apart, but this one worked. It just worked people! They are both a little broken. They both had a lot of growing up to do. They are both beautiful parents with sweet, quirky kids. Shoot!!! I can’t stop gushing.
Will finally start Opposite of You sometime today…..I think. I’m a squirrel lately.
Amy, ummmm GROSS!!!
Finished Opposite of You last night and really loved it. I wonder, because to me it was sweet and not too angsty. (again, I think the angst button is broken), and I never felt like he was being too mean, since he seemed to be really interested in her. Just, overly critical. lol *salt*
I just about fell off my chair when I read your comment Fabi – because I read it as Gang Bang, not Bang Gang. Thats quite a bit of difference!
Ela, GoG made me so mad – that’s why I liked reading it!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO Gang Bang – Bang Gang seemed like THE SAME THING TO ME. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Omg. I’ve been reading it the same way. Lol.
*shudders at the blood bath*
*gulp*
Wait…..so Bang Gang is NOT a dirty, smutty novel about menage and kinky things?!?
LOL that title, Fabi!!! π
OK, I’m sorry, but I thought ‘Bang Gang’ was a TOTALLY different type of book! lol Looking it up now…
Price drop alerts Royal Atlas by HJ Bellus 99 cents Jean gave this five stars
Racing the Sun by Karina Halle $3.99 down from the usual $7.99
Preorders
Fallen Heir Royals #4 by Erin Watt is up for preorder August 28th
Fraternize by RVD $3.99 it’s about a cheerleader and a pro football player! The price will go up closer to release day. Bonus it releases on my birthday September 12th.
Oh, wow! Now I don’t know what to think?? It looks to be like I thought it would, but it sounds like something totally different?
Let’s just pretend it really is Gang Bang and read as such??? BECAUSE WHAT IS BANG GANG??? OTHER THAN THE WORDS BEING REVERSED???
This is so hard to explain!
First of all, the Bang Gang DO Gang Bangs. So you’re not wrong there, regardless of how you read the title.
BUT <— BIG BUT (not butt)
This book is a beautiful 2nd chance romance. Racy and raunchy – yes. But also emotional and beautiful.
I cried people. I hate to cry! I cried and didn't DNF.
In fact, I need to go see if this is a series because I'd love to read about the other men. This is the first time since I started using a reading schedule that I'm even tempted to throw it out the window. If this book is the beginning of a series, my reading schedule may need to run for its life.
*Disclaimer – I like racy & raunchy romance novels. If you don't, then this isn't the book for you.
Maryse, you should look up when you first posted it on your release lists, because that’s how long it’s been sitting in my tbr. o.O
LOL Fabi, and all I can think is, she didn’t like Sea of Tranquility as a title? π
You’re never living your name fetish down, I’m afraid.
Ela called me a hussy…I think that means she likes me…swooooon!!
You guys are gonna kill me. I may squirrel away from The Opposite of You and go back to Animal. I know I know!!! Pelt me with peanuts if you have to. I will go back and finish it, it’s just the writing style that is not grabbing me. Just way too much “telling” and very little “showing”. I have read some amazing books lately by some very talented writers, so maybe that’s why this stands out so much. I also really like A LOT of dialogue, and there isn’t that much. Don’t tell me about your brother, show me and talk to him, I’ll get how you both feel afterwards!!!!! Okay. Sorry for ruining your day. I promise to go back and finish it. But ANIMAL – OMG – what the ever loving heck is that? That is calling my name so I can go back and figure it out. Who was it that read that book? It’s CRAY-ZEE
And I’m gonna be the first to give an unpopular opinion (and seek shelter) on The Opposite of You. It’s a good story, but soooo darn slow burning. And the beard, I just can’t get past it…it’s like it’s own living breathing character in this book (he strokes it into shape for heaven’s sake). I’m at 80% and I like Killian, but I’m not really swooning yet. I do like the dynamic between he and Vera. What is wrong with me? Do I read too much? Are my standards so out of skew???
Ok, so Bang Gang IS in fact dirty and smutty but in a good way with an emotional story line???
Uh-oh. Tell not show can be a big pet peeve of mine.
Gah. Do I read it next or no? Maybe Unconventional by Maggie Harcourt or Whiteout by Elysian Springer, or….and or….and or….
Darn it, MichelleS. You’ve ruined my day.
Well at least disrupted my tbr schedule. π
Maryse, do you ever sit and stare at your computer and think “How the heck did all these crazy people end up in my blog?” π
For the record, I love crazy people and the antics around here make me smile daily!!
My bf has standards, she only reads about Bang Gangs for the emotional stories.
*strokes beard while I contemplate*
LOL…..I have a book in the que called Gang Bang. I was like, that book does not have kids in it and I don’t think I’d describe it as Fabi did. Then I looked at the title again and read it correctly. Hehe!
Robin!!!!!!!! I totally forgot about Fabi’s title obsession!!!!! Thanks for the reminder, it appears if they’re dirty then it doesn’t matter what they are she’s an equal opportunist but if they’re other then Fabi gets PICKY!
I can’t forget about it. I swear I now thing of Fabi every time I see a new title! Like, hmm…WWFD?
Yes Lisa, I think I like you too! *smooches and huggles* and don’t forget we DO have that scene she shaves the “BEARD” off scene…
I don’t understand why it’s so hard to believe that titles and covers affect my desire to read a book.
Imagine scales.
Imagine my reading taste.
Imagine on one side “Sea of Tranquility” – nice, soft, comfortable, peaceful
Imagine on the other other side “Bang Gang” – racy, spicy, raunchy and with a surprise tummy twisting, cry -unducing love story IN SPITE of the graphic sex scenes.
Now, which scale side would look heavier to me?!
If you guess wrong, I’m disowning you.
PS. I’m reading the end of Bang Gang right now and crying for the 4th effing time!
OMG R!!! WWFD???!!! BAHAHAHAHAHA
World Wrestling Fabi D???
I totally understand it, it just sounds funny. The title tells you what kind of book it is, but to me I hear, “that title’s stupid and this one’s awesome.” So when you OMG BG and WTF SoT, I LOL. π
I know. Awesomesauce, right? We need WWFD? t-shirts!
What would Fabi do?
LMAO ….I thought it was funny picturing Fabi wrestling with books, authors, and titles…
LOL R!
I am not the only one who picks books based on titles and covers. Come on folks, fess up! Who has read a book because they thought the title or cover was cool.
It’s not that I won’t read a book with a title that doesn’t at first appeal to me, it’s just that it will take reviews/feedback to bring it to my attention.
Now, quit distracting me. I have to finish Bang Gang. Then read my BR, A Walk Through Fire, then! bev’s loan Promises.
***notice all the cook titles
cool!!! (not cook) sheesh I don’t even know how to cook
Hey Ela and Lisa–I may not be able to keep up (It’s not my fault I can’t stay awake for longer than 5 minutes at a time! lol) but I was there for the beard shaving scene too! *harrumph*
Of course you were Renee!
Fabi, I totally read this book for the title and cover:
Snowballin’: I Fucked Frosty
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14635455-snowballin
A Marmy After Dark presents:
Bang Gang.
Anyone beside me read Monère: Children of the Moon series?
Reading Fabi’s description of Sea of T, lol.
“notice all the cook titles”
OMG!! I totally thought the second “o” in cook was a “c” and just about spit out my macchiato, LOL!!!!!!!
Of course you did Amy! I’m surprised that’s the only thing you noticed within these posts!
Well, it could possibly be the sub title of Bang Gang.
For those of you who haven’t read Ela’s hidden scene from Opposite of You (and let me tell you, this girl has a future in writing), here it is with the bad words asterisked. I think I have a tear in my eye…our little Ela is growing up so fast!!!
And I present to you:
Oh oh oh!!!!!!!!!!! “She climbs up his defined torso after she licks his sexy v that dips into his grey boxer briefs. He sighs with pleasure yet she can feel HIS fear. That beard has been with him through the good and bad times. She can’t begin to pretend to know how he feels about having it eliminated. With the water and cream on the side of the bed, she continues to seduce him into a calm while she handles the shaver. With the first pass through his beard, she feels him stiffen. Oh no. They can’t go back. They have come so far. She decides to take away his tenseness by grinding her ***** over his bulge and he relaxes, overcome with a hunger twinkle in his eyes. His focus lost on the shaver he hasn’t realized THE BEARD IS GONE. He flips her over, strips her and himself nekkid and proceeds to **** her brains out.”
As I’m reading Opposite of You (mind you, I’m still not too far in yet), I am going to HAVE to imagine him without a beard…dude who came in with beard dandruff the other day ruined the minuscule part of me that might have had a chance of tolerating the beard.
Seriously, he kept scratching his beard and shaping it and had a constant snowfall of dandruff onto his black shirt. BLECH!!!
Alright, so far, best four of Mar are:
Dirty, Filthy, Rich Boys by Laurelin Paige (it’s my catnip!)
Weaving Man by Tove Foss Ford (Oh so beautiful and eloquent)
Under the Lights by Abbi Glines(also super beautiful)
Broken Soul by Faith Hunter (The best in the Yellowstone series IMO)
Three of the four are due to emotional feels. The other… BULLY JERK! π
It probably smelled too…
*spits water all over my screen* OMFG *bwahahahhaha* OMG… *dies*
It’s not even 5 o’clock on the East Coast yet… wow… the ladies are racy today! *initiates a slow clap*
Wow Ela! That’s awesome!!!
*wipes away tear after Lisa’s post* *sniff sniff*
AND that is why that extra little scene was written Amy…because just no!
Did you ladies see the Beard MC books???? Bahahahahahahah
One of them is “Fear the Beard”
https://www.goodreads.com/series/200222-the-dixie-wardens-rejects-mc
Some beard love for Maryse ‘ s book.
https://www.google.com/amp/www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/entertainment/amp9208180/charlie-hunnam-jason-momoa-cinema-con/
bev!!!!!!!!!!!! NOBODY CAN COMPARE WITH THOSE 2 HUNKS!!!!!!!!!! MOMOA AND HUNNAM SANDWICH….YUM
Yeah, some men… it really doesn’t matter.
Broken Soul by Faith Hunter (The best in the Yellowstone series IMO)
Fabi–I agree! The Jane Yellowrock series is one of my absolute faves and that book was awesome!! I recommend it to anyone looking for an action-packed urban fantasy series.
Ela–I saw that series just this week. (Please note that I did NOT add them to my tbr!)
Uhh, Amy, good luck. It gets kinda hard to ignore it after a bit! I’ve just had to try to ’embrace’ it. LOL
*scribbles Bang Gang to my TBR*
Robin! You need to read ‘The Opposite of You’! It’s so SWOOOONY!!
Thanks for the rec Nay! I think I’m going to have to, especially with the diverse reactions! I’ll be cool with the beard if I can cast a hot enough actor to play the H in my head. Dandruff doesn’t exist in my mind and beards are always clean and smell of fresh linen.
And I wanted to mention I was discouraged with Whispers and the Roars yesterday. That is no longer the case. We’re good now π
Renee! But it’s about bikers! They are supposed to have beards, it’s like a rule! Didn’t you watch SOA….Jax can’t be clean shaven and I would so tug on HIS beard BECAUSE HE’S A BADASS BIKER DUDE!
Right? All the different opinions makes me want to read it more, lol.
*leaves to start Bang Gang or is it Gang Bang….??*
Ela–yes, but that’s Jax!
Robin–just wait!!! That book was a bit of a mindblower!
*sits back and enjoys the antics of my book buddies*
Is there a full moon tonight? I feel like there should definitely be a full moon tonight–it’s been crazy today!.
*whistles* No clue what you is talking about, man!
*taps Ela on the forehead* McFly? McFly… are you in there? Think McFly think!
*ouch* Grey What the what???? Where am I???? *spins in circles* Oh that’s right I’m reading about banging gangs…
BEARdS!!!!! Ummm…heck yes!!! Bikers have to have a beard, goatee, and tats!!! It’s written in the biker code somewhere! Nothing wrong with a close shaved beard…just saying.
*quietly looks up Bang Gang book*
See bikers and beards are a rule BUT cooks with pullable, shape-shifting, lip-hiding ones are just NOT
ELA! ROFLMAO!!!!
Yeah, but I will say that if Charlie or Stu wanted to grow a pullable, shape-shifting, lip-hiding one I sure wouldn’t protest!!! Otherwise, you might just need to trim that sucker!
Corrects Ela’s post.
*Ela leaves quietly to start Gang Bang with Bang Gang
π
*Stamps NC-17 rating all over the place today* Good grief, naughty, naughties!
*giggle*
I’m surprised Amy isn’t all over the place. I have a feeling she’s gearing up ut oh!
On the beard theme….Fear the Beard is calling my name….Paging Dr Tomirkanivov aka Dr Tommy aka Dr Bones…feeling a little bit of a jerk coming on…
But he’s a CHEF – with a beard?? No way. They have beard nets, like hair nets, that they have to wear. Not cool.
I’m late to the party but looks like you are all having fun lol!
Got to agree with Fabi – Bang Gang was a 5* read for me!
The Night Mark by Tiffany Rheisz. Mine mine mine. That girl can WRITE.
D.G. – I agree. The blurb is calling my name. How does a doctor join an MC club??? Hmmmm…, smart & hot? Might have to check that one out.
Beard DANDRUFF?? Ick!!! I’ve been dealing just fine with Killian’s beard in the Opposite of You til JUST NOW…….
Favourite March read:
The Come Up by Nia Forrester. I FLOVED it. It will definitely be a reread for me.
Second place: Afterwards by Nia Forrester from the same series as the Come Up. Another GREAT READ.
MichelleS just called me old on good reads.
“BUT cooks with pullable, shape-shifting, lip-hiding ones are just NOT”
Again…AGAIN I saw a different word than “cooks” and I’m dying now, LOL!!!!!
She says Amy looks younger than me.
GR bullies are real my friends.
Oh, I’m gearing up alright. I’m just trying to keep it under control until I’m done with work so I don’t accidentally say something inappropriate in front of patients or coworkers. π³
What?? LOL! I highly doubt I look younger…
Favorite March Read:
The Weaving Man, by Tove Foss Ford.
No surprise there. Elegantly written. Amazing characters. Just beautiful.
Totally tattle tale, lol. They are trying to figure out who is youngest.
So far I act older than you (snort) but your probably older than Maryse who is maybe in her mid 30s.
I’m sorry you guys there is something about this that is making me laugh so much. I love it.
I’m guessing Tasha is the youngest.
WHAT??? I said you were an old soul!!! Not old! You know how much I adore you!!! OMG. And I said I assumed Amy was the youngin’ of the bunch – and I called myself an old hag!!!
Lol. I’m just giving you a hard time.
I don’t know why but that whole conversation just tickled my funny bone.
Amy! Admit it, you just love the word COCK
Who doesn’t love that word?
LOL You guys are cracking me up!!!!
And yeah the beard… but still, for me the story took that beard to a whole ‘nother level. π
Strangely enough, I found that the writing for this one… showed and DIDN’T tell (telling and now showing is one of my pet peeves too), and this one was such a relief in the quality of writing and my ability to connect.
Ah well… sometimes we experience story-telling differently. That’s okay. π
P.S. Ewwww with the dandruff. There was NONE of that in this book. π
Maryse, do you not read series? I ask because it seems like most of your reviews are typically stand alones.
I do… depending on my interest level. For example, I read the entire Fish Tales series and LOVED it. It just got better and better. And Elle Kennedy’s On Campus series. AWESOMENESS. π
Nay just crushed me.
I was the youngest….for like 10 minutes.
I will always remember that high.
I think I’m the oldest. Oh well, I’ll just be out there and proud of it. Maybe you’ve got an old (OK, mature?) soul bev, and maybe I’ve got a young soul. I don’t feel old anyway…….. π
I’ve been avoiding The Opposite of You because – hype and disappointment. But so many of you can’t be wrong!! Looks like I won’t be avoiding it for much longer!!
Lol.
Jan, I didn’t realize that I was the mature one.
I like it.
π
Maryse, I’m reading Infidelity Series and its got all kinds of crazy twists and seems up your alley. I couldn’t recall you reading any series besides your old school pnrs. I was just curious. Some dislike the time commitment of series.
Jan, you can be the wisest and the youngest at heart.
Wise? I like it. OK.
Sorry, Bev! lol
*snort* Y’all wouldn’t believe me if I told you how old I am.
I am DEFINITELY not the youngin’ of the bunch. π
And holy moly…I’m being talked about on GR. LOL!!
Noooo. Tasha is.
*shuts the door so Tasha can’t come in*
*locks it* I liked pretending, darn it! Two years older than the youngest, not 11!
I’m with bev
Lol, poor Tasha.
I think it is pretty cool though how we are all different ages.
I keep saying it but seriously loving Aristotle and Dante. The only problem, but not really because I love his narration, is how slow it’s going because I’m listening instead of reading.
Maryse I finished my audio book of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. And it was marvelous.
Since no one is here I’m taking over.
Which means I’m the youngest again.
I’m going to talk about all my favorite books and all the people who won’t read them.
I’m naming names.
I’m going to post all my favorite everythings.
Hehehe.
bev, I’m adding this to today’s Friday list in the audiobook section!!! THANK YOU!!! π
I’m here. I tested my cock-tale of the month with Erica Lynn “last night” until 3:30 am. My head is probably going to fall off at any minute but on the bright side I may have finally convinced her to join us. Or to take up basket weaving. I can’t really be sure.
Oh crap…bev is bored and when that happens the gloves come off.
Totally biting my lip and feeling giddy right now ’cause I love it when bev starts finding things to do around here… *giggle*
Michelle, Michellle, Michelle! Guess what? The book I grabbed has another WERE BADGER! I haven’t met him yet, but another one. We’re up to two badgers.
I put The Opposite of You on hold for a couple of days so I could be self-disciplined and finish what I originally started a week or so ago, A Way to Get By by T. Torrest.
I’m so p!ssed right now.
I can honestly say I didn’t see the twist coming. And it wasn’t a good twist, at least for me. Nothing that makes me feel icky is a good twist. So now I REALLY need the potential awesomeness of TOOY. And now I’m going to go vent on GR…
Amy, you need to go pick a book for the Pick Me Challenge.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/18543528-pick-for-me-challenge?page=1
I don’t like any of the KF picks this month. π But, there are several romance/women’s lit that you guys might be interested in. I remember someone complaining about the lack of romance in the recent month’s picks. I think it was R?
That was me. I haven’t even looked this month yet.
bev, when is your birthday?
Sitting at my daughters dance competition… Long day. Super excited about Jan reading my pick. Wondering if Amy will pick the same book for Tessa that I did… π
I didn’t read much in March… My fave was Mists of the Serengeti.
Do it, bev!!
I’ve noticed that the KF picks have lacked romance for several months. Glad they finally have something. Looking now…
I was hoping Jean would have popped in here, but she seems to have disappeared. JEEAAANN!! If you see this, come over to GR and pick my book, pretty PLEASE!!
Amy, I had no plan.
Except world domination.
One book at a time.
Grey, is it so you can tease me when I’m another year older than you?
Or is it for a bev ‘ s birthday read or listen to a bev book for her day?
Another were-badger??? LOL. What book is it?? Is it any good?
I’ve no clue; I’m on chapter 1. I honestly hope to meet the Badger. Right now I’ve met a bar owner and the MC.
It’s been fun just reading by mood, but now need to be a bit more focused.
Besides library books I really want to read Maryse ‘ s new favorite. Then I still need to read my March book and then might dive into my April book.
I think I will finally read Thoughtless for my April book.
*peanut thunk to bevs nose too*
COME ON BEV!!!!!!!
Simons says!!!!!! π
Ok, one last thing. *snort*
Have you all seen this?
https://www.boredpanda.com/and-murders-began-first-line-book/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=masproduction
So for The Opposite of You it could be
Beautiful.
I turned my head and smiled at my best friend since fourth grade. And then the murders began.
101 to see and five per page. They do like to milk the ads for as much money as they can.
Long ago, Namid gave birth to all kinds of life, including the beings known as humans. And then the murders began.
Written in Red by Anne Bishop
Ironically, that’s probably how it really happened in the book. lol
Fabi…I went with All the Lies We Tell for my KF book. At least this month had a couple of books which were appealing for me as the past couple of months have been pretty disappointing.
Heading to GR right now! π
Amy… whaaaaaaa….???
No Opposite yet?
It’s ONLY FROM HER POV. And it’s FABULOUS. I don’t personally know the author. I SWEAR it. READ IT!!!!!!!!!
*peanut thunk right off the nose*
OMG!!! OMG!!!! OMG!!!! *can’t breath*. Fifty Shades is on the USA channel!!! What the heck! It’s only 8:25pm eastern!!!!
NOW I am obligated to watch it to make sure there are not any racy scenes….
Oooooooh D.G. Sooooooo risque!!!!!! Eeeep! π
Sounds good Amy. There were better romance choices this month.
Uh yeah, DG, you’d better check that out to, er, make sure. Also, check there are no were-badgers.
D.G. I didn’t find the theatre movie to be a big deal as far as what it showed. So I doubt prime time TV is going to be a problem. A few cut words, maybe a fade to black scene. Meh! The movie was so disappointing. Books rule!!!
I agree Fabi…but everyone has made such a big deal about it. It almost hurts the acting is so bad.
*whispers quietly to Jan “what is a were-badger?”*
*whispers to dg “I’m not sure, but Tessa and Michelle seem to be a bit excited about them”*
*whispers to Jan that it is time to investigate!*
OMG…*whisper shouts to Jan* Not sure if urban dictionary’s version of were badger is the same as what Tessa and Michelle are talking about….
I picked All the Lies We Tell for my KF book too. I haven’t read a Megan Hart book in a long time.
Whoa.
Wait.
What?
Are you using Simon against me?
Person who has not read Simon?
*snort*
Yes. Simon. π
Ok, I have the Gilmore Girls on in the background and one of my favorite lines.
“When a woman gives birth to a crack baby, you do not buy her a puppy. “
Maryse, I know. I KNOW!! How dare I?!?
I was trying to be disciplined and finish the book I was reading from my personal reading challenge before jumping into another Higginson gold mine, and I paid the price for it, LOL!!
So now I am officially back on board with TOOY. π Location 116 to be exact. *snort*
*wiggles with happiness and anticipation*
:D!!!!!
*rubs nose* Maryyyyyyyse!! Was that necessary???
And you know what, even if you did know her personally (which would be pretty awesome, IMO ;)) I trust your opinion enough to know you will be honest either way.
So if you say you love it, then it must really be that great!
I really liked Opposite of You, but I needed more angst I think. It was a slow burn and I loved their initial banter.
Dr. Doolittle will make you love were-badgers. Technically a honey badger, a type of badger. *dances* This book!
Magic Bites by Kate Daniels
One of the best books EVER
I’m getting tired, I thought you were rubbing Maryse ‘ s nose.
*snorts coffee out of nose* No, DG, I think you’re right. That urban dictionary definition is just ….ugh……. *coughs, wheezes*
No, I’m pretty sure they mean a hot shifter type of were badger like in Magic Bites which, no, I haven’t gotten around to reading yet. Maybe I’ll add it to my Pick For Me challenge list.
What the??? My GR says I’ve read Magic Bites and 2 starred it! I can’t remember it at all…….. oh well, it just mustn’t have been my cup of tea. And dang it all, I just can’t remember that were badger….
Hmmm. The plot thickens. Amazon says I haven’t bought Magic Bites. Maybe when I set up my gr and was entering piles of books, I got it mixed up with another book I’d read, and haven’t read it after all. Cos, how can you forget a WERE BADGER?????
lol Well, if you didn’t like the book, that might be why. He’s a secondary character, but awesome.
Fave March read…hmmmm, I actually had a good month. Of course I’m loving Infidelity series but I’m still on last book.
Last Hit (Hitman #1) – Its one of those where you end up falling in love & swooning over a murderer! *gasp* I did this on audio. The narration was odd at first, but once I got used to the accent, I loved it.
Tristan & Danika #2 & #3 – I wasn’t totally in love with this series during book #1, but book #2 hooked me. What a train wreck this was!! (but in a good way) I don’t always go for this much angst, but I fell hard for Tristan. It was fun BR-ing this with R.
Leslie, if you have never received an audio book from someone I can share Aristotle and Dante with you. Do you want it??? The narration is so good.
Favorite book for March without a doubt is Animal by Marni Mann!
Leslie, I started Stepbrother Dearest last night and am loving it! Couldn’t put it down! Will definitely finish today. What a jerk, love it!
Favorite books Silence Fallen and Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. Though I finished the last one on the first of April.
Whew! Glad urban dictionary was off on that description because I was beginning to wonder….
*makes note to look up Magic Bites*
Yay Jean!!! So glad you love Stepbrother Dearest! It was one of those “it wasnt what I expected in a good way” type of books.
Thanks for the offer Bev, but I can get that title free from my Hoopla account. π
Were-badger?!? *shakes head* I think this is why PNR is too weird for me. π
Lesli, the narration was super good.
I’m not sure if the story is for you or not, still not sure i know your taste, but if free doesn’t hurt to try sometime.
Ok, thinking of my April reads, I’m channeling my inner-Fabi….WWFD? She would make a reading schedule!! So far I’ve got:
Diamonds – pick for me challenge
Butterfly Project – book buddy faves challenge
Sea of Tranquility – TBR challenge
Below Deck – GR group book of the month
Wait!!!! STOP THE PRESS!!! Fabi would NOT read Sea of Tranquility because OMG that title is sooooooo horrible!!!! π
Bev, I did add it to my list on Hoopla when you were gushing about it. π
Jan–glad to hear I’m not alone! I always feel so bad that the Ilona Andrews team’s writing style just isn’t my cuppa, because it seems that everyone else just loves them!
I tried three Kate Daniels books and three The Edge books and had to make myself finish them. I did 4-star the 3rd Kate Daniels book because, in the end, I thought it deserved it, but the process of getting through it was just too boring for me–I know it sounds weird, but it’s hard to explain! lol
Leslie–I’ve never heard of Hoopla and just checked it out. How cool! Looks like I need to get a library card. I was thinking about re-upping my Audible membership this summer, but if I can find good audiobooks to borrow, that would be awesome!
Nay, if you can get library card for library that has Hoopla, you gotta do it. They have tons of romance audiobooks. My local library doesnt have it, but as a Massachusetts resident, I can get Boston library card. The big cities have great selections plus access to Hoopla!!
Oh, ok. Good to know that it’s not every library. I bet ours out in the country doesn’t have it, but it never hurts to check. The closest big city does have a new library, so I’ll check there first. Thanks!!
Good lord I feel so behind on everything happening here. REal life has been taking too much of my time. Not sure what the picks challenge is…have to go to GR and investigate. Is it too late to do this?
I did finish The Opposite of You. It was a good, mainly sweet read with some LOL moments. It mostly held my attention, but it was so slow and then when it was finally “there”, it had a kinda fade to black. Just needed more emotion, and not necessarily from Vera, because as much as I was happy to see her “backbone” moments, I was tired of her wah, wah, wah moments. I kept expecting the big angst moment. It just fell short for me between Killian and Vera and fell into place too easily without much writing about it. Would have liked to explore more about Killian too.
Leslie you go with your new schedule girl. That rocks!!!
But – stop right there – I never said SoT was a bad title. My only point was regarding my reading tastes. So if I have two books I’m thinking of reading, one of them titled Sea of Tranquility and the other titled Gang Bang, I will always choose Gang Bang first. Cause I’m just slutty that way. π
IOW SoT is not slutty enough for me. Ha!
R. – we need to talk about you starting these *ahem* trends.
Ok Maryse a question for you or maybe your sister- do I have to read All That Jazz before reading Beach Wedding (eversea conclusion)? I read the other 3, but ATJ does not interest me.
It’s ok Fabi. We love you either way.
Fabi…the sea of tranquility was something I had never heard of before reading that book, so it’s an actual thing (which you probably already knew ’cause you’re a smarty pants ;)) and not just a made-up title.
Hope that helps, my slutty friend. π
I really hope that smarty pants comment didn’t come out wrong…I just think it’s pretty dang awesome you are so smart you can teach college math!
Heh, I more worried about that comment than I am about calling you slutty. Just another day here on the blog…
No worries Amy. I’m a slutty nerd. I own it.
Oh, but no, I have no idea what SoT stands for other than as an allusion to calmness or the moon basin. Ha!!!
It IS the moon basin…SEE?? You are smart. I didn’t even know that before reading SoT.
Holy crap. I thought the book was named for a “feeling” or a “sought after feeling” for an MC. Now you’re telling me it’s named after a crater on the moon?
Bahahabahaha
Now, I’ve heard it all and am determined to maintain my title snobbishness foevah!
We should totally go all bev on Fabi now until she reads it!
…Because “going all bev” on me works so well
Random memories of bratty little brother do not induce cooperation
Oh geez. What have I done??
*covers face*
But wait…it’s been a while since I read it, and I’m pretty sure THAT sea of tranquility brought a sense of peace for her.
Help me out here, ladies? Please????
Really? Even if we all do it?
It’s a quiet Sunday and haven’t done it in a long while…*shrug*

Sorry, I don’t have 21 fingers.
Remind me how I finally got talked into reading a YA MM CAR again? I’m drawing a blank.
NOT CAR autocorrect. You’re wrong AGAIN. It’s CR!
Oh autocorrect, you are the bane of my existence.
NOT BOOK at the beginning, just B. Only B.

Schmidts lavender deo is my favorite right now.
MichelleS I wonder if it is the same Galway Girl that Steve Earle sings. Love his version.

Fabi… Only one so far: Adam’s. I know, insane right? The honest truth, though, is book one starts out so boring!
Gasp!!! Tessa, are you TRYING to break my heart?
π lol
Tessa – which one is boring? I loved them all. Especially from book three on. “I’m gonna tup you ’til your legs fall off”. And Daegus??? Rawr! Hot hot Highlanders. My go-to re-reads.
I did finish Opposite of You last night. Fun, cute, no major feels for me though
π 3.75 stars. For those who need a light romance & swoon guy, a 4 star read for sure.
The beginning of the first book, Beyond the Highland Mist. That’s the one the library has. Well, that and Adam’s. I adored Adam’s story. But the first, I’ll probably like it, but the beginning is SOOO SLOW!
Oooh yes! I also lurved the Highland Warrior books! I listened to the audiobooks and thought they were awesome!
No one, except for Nay (my new favorite), will take my awesome free audio book. Lin manuel miranda people.
I need to find a new tribe, people.
Yeah, I’m just calling you all people now.
Maryse, remember how you wanted to try an audio book at some time?
I would, but it’s audio! Instead of hearing ‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times’ I’d hear, ‘ih uh de beh uh ime i uh de were uh ime’ That’s kind of a form of torture.
See. Now I’m officially exempt , right?
Your exempt, Tessa.
But not the rest of these people.
Tessa – I mean Teh-uh, do you have an Auditory Impairment? If so, aids? Cochlear?
Tessa – that was my least favorite one! I loved book two, but like I said three + were awesome, and lead into the Fever series.
“one of these people”, Bev, is officially opting out. No more adverstising for the product. Thank you anyways. π
*falls over backwards arms out*
*contemplates*
*calls out*
Because it is free. A free award winning wonderful book narrated by the Tony winning, Grammy winning, Pulitzer Prize winning Lin Manuel Miranda.
Be fearless, fearless book nerds. Give it a chance.
Michelle, no hearing aids. I had some when I was younger, but they didn’t work well. I only recently discovered it’s due to the fact that my hearing is harder to hear the higher it gets, that the big issue, hearing consonants, didn’t work then. I saw there are some possible breakthroughs, but unless they say I can actually hear an S sound, nope. I really don’t want to hear wind and birds enough to wear them. (honestly, I DESPISED hearing wind. Talk about annoying. Walk outside and suddenly sounds that won’t stop. UCK)
Tessa, I’ve heard that from people before, not liking hearing aids because of all the noise.
It makes me wonder what all we subconsciously filter.

Tessa… You’d run from Jared??? Are you crazy??? And shhh, don’t tell the rest of them… I haven’t read KMM’s Highlanders either.
I couldn’t think of anyone! If they hit the book boyfriend mark, then they aren’t scary. Probably should’ve picked James Cavendish, but he’s not scary either. If they get to OMG, RUN stage, they aren’t book boyfriends, just fascinating to read. Like, Fear Me. He’s not a book boyfriend as much as I love the book. He’s too scary.
Oh, man! I forgot about Z!
Put him here on my list:
Hero youβd love as much in real life?
Z
I’ll always love Jamie Fraser, but I’d much rather have a sexy vamp than a highlander!
