<— This blurb tickled my “unconventional love story” fancy, so I’m thinking… maybe this one verrrrry soon for me. Right now I’m in Book Bash-mode (only a few weeks left to go and I’m in that “final stages” rush), so my reading has taken a slight hit. But!! It’s all in the name of our love-of-books, so I’m good with that. 😀
Still though, I’m hoping to take the weekend off, and finally indulge in… either of these two from my TBR list (I’m gonna try to stick with it this week :)): Maybe the “Addicted Series” <— I hear it’s angsty, tumultuous and addictive in every way. Or…. The Year We Fell Down ’cause it sounds sweet and uplifting but with that pining/unrequited love angle that I’m craving. Or… “Frenched” ’cause I keep meaning to read this. I’ve been told it’s not too… “anything-crazy”, but just has that awesome romance feel.
Mind you, there are a few below that have the potential to make me *squirrel*. Like the escort *sideeyes him up there* or… the one said to have a “BDB-feel”. <— Eeeeep!!! I noted a bunch more below (great-sounding finds and brand-new releases alike) that are making me nod and my one-click finger itchy, like… many military “bad boy” heroes that don’t intend on falling, a live-in nanny living with her charge’s “jerk” of a father (she calls him anti-christ <– heh!), a girl in love with a drug-dealer bf, a girl that falls for a good guy, but soon discovers he’s actually… bad…. oh! And a man, grieving his brother and caring for his brother’s pregnant wife. Yep. *nods*. It feels like a good list.
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order.

- A Life Less Broken by Margaret McHeyzer <— Nancy found us this one! “On a day like any other, Allyn Sommers went off to work, not knowing that her life was about to be irrevocably and horrifically altered. Three years later, Allyn is still a prisoner in her own home held captive by harrowing fear. Broken and damaged, Allyn seeks help from someone that fate brought her.” Rachel says: “It’s an amazing book!!! … It starts out as a dark read but turns into so much more. I loved it.” and Tracie says: “It was pretty good.”
- Blurred Lines by Jennifer K. Brand <— JUST RELEASED!! Has an intriguing blurb-jolty blurb. 😉 “I wanted to know him, claim him the same way he had claimed me. But you can’t claim that which doesn’t exist. A mirage. A man who showed me one face while showing the world another. A complicated man. A dangerous man. Now I’m caught up in his world. Trapped under all that is dark and dangerous. From hearts and flowers to guns and knives. I want out. But I fear it’s too late.” Thanks for pointing it out, Annie!
- Whispering Wishes by Jennifer Miller <— JUST RELEASED! This one looks cute! At the urging of her bff, she sends her “wishes out into the universe” but… her wishes backfire on her —> “She gets fired. Her car breaks down. She gets kicked out of her house. And of course there is the crap icing on the cake of doom, falling for flirtatious and sexy, Wes, who sees her as nothing more than his “little sis”. It might not be so bad if his house weren’t the only place she had to go.“
- The Bastard (Baddest Boys in History) by Inez Kelly <— Oh THIS paranormal looks right up our alley!!! “Real men. No vampires, no werewolves, no magic. Just down and dirty raw power —sin to sin, evil to evil, bad to bad. They fight for humanity. It was that or eternal damnation. They agreed to risk their souls. No one told them they would lose their hearts.” and Tess HIGHLY recommends them saying something that made my eyes pop right out of my head in excitement. She said: “OMG! Maryse you have to check out The Bastard by Inez Kelley. Absolutely amazing, couldn’t put it down. Has a definite BDB feel….” <— Did she say what I think she said?

- Finding Home (Home Series) by Ann Vaughn <— okay of course, the cover got me, but then… two more things did. The fact that he’s a former army ranger, and the GREAT number of amazing reviews this one has. The blurb didn’t jolt me so much (more like an angsty “bad past” sweet sounding story) but lightly skimming the reviews, this one sounds like it “plays out” awesomely.
- Etched in Sand by Regina Calcaterra <— A TON of great reviews for this one! “Regina and her four siblings survived an abusive and painful childhood only to find themselves faced with the challenges of the foster-care system and intermittent homelessness in the shadows of Manhattan and the Hamptons.A true-life rags-to-riches story, Etched in Sand chronicles Regina’s rising above her past, while fighting to keep her brother and three sisters together through it all.“
- Inflame (Explosive, #3) by Tessa Teevan <— recent release!! Looks good. Two best friends (he’s in the military, she’s a schoolteacher) have a “friends with benefits” arrangement… but then… feeeeeelings start to change things. Lots of great reviews on this one (and this series, even!)
- Sweet Temptation (Men Of Honor #2) by K.C. Lynn <— another good looking recent release from a “military hero” series with bad boy that suddenly finds himself falling for someone. Lots of great reviews. Author says can be read as stanadlones but best read in order, so here’s book #1. I skimmed VERY LIGHTLY the one lowest review, (just the first line) it actually made me wanna read it. LOL!
- Fighting Temptation (Men Of Honor) by K.C. Lynn <— here’s #1! Great reviews, too.
- Frenched by Melanie Harlow <— Tons of recommendation for it have come my way, and it’s one at the top of my TBR list.

- Hold Me Closer: A Rebel Walking Novel by Hilary Storm <— JUST RELEASED!!
- Live In Position by Sadie Grubor <— JUST RELEASED. She’s a nanny… “When Sophia steps into the Bishop home to care for emotionally neglected Victoria, she’s positive Dr. Collin Bishop, aka The Anti-Christ, despises her. The intensity of his glare is unsettling and frustrating.” <— this sounds like it could be fun, if his “meanie-ness” really plays out.

- Tempt Me Eternally by Gena Showalter <— expected release date June 2nd 2014
Beloved was good, but be forewarned, it has a major cliffhanger! I mean seriously major!
OMG – read the Addicted series – I couldn’t put them down, stayed awake for way to long every night, forgot to feed my family and let the laundry pile up and when I finally made it through all of them I was sad to see them go. I was in a Loren induced haze.
Oh that just sounds perfect, Lesley. Forgetting to feed and chaos all around? YAY ME!!!!!!
Thanks for that warning, Rachel. Now I’m especially intrigued!
I snorted when I read your reaction to the blurb for The Seduction – and then reacted with my own WTF when I actually read the blurb. Oh my…is this what a hot flash feels like? I think I’ll wait for the entire series to complete before attempting *that* one!
Oh! Did you see the MAC Alluring Aquatic line?? They. Are. Gorgeous!!! I found out about it a few days after its release, and almost everything was already sold out online! I did manage to snag a Lipglass in Seducing Sound, and I’m giddy over how pretty it is! Looks like I’m doing some eBay shopping if I can’t find any of it at Nordstrom because that line is just…wow. 😀
Haha Amy! I know, right? That was… *oooooof*
Now I gotta look up that new MAC (I’ve always been a. MAC girl). Hey I should take a pic of my makeup case. Actually, it used to be a real makeup case but it fell apart under the weight of the makeup. Haha
So now I have an actual tall toolbox thingie. Ugly as heck but I can see and play with my makeup so much better now. 🙂
Latest purchase? I went crazy color-wise. Got two Sephora waterproof liquid liners in electric baby-ish blue (think the 80’s) and a green one. I’m bein’ adventurous. Plus I only do a teeny skinny light line edged to my usual black line on upper lid, and a skinny line on my bottom lid, and it actually looks dark and normal, so it’s not too flashy (thank goodness ’cause I’m shy with color) but flashes more color in the sun. My husband is thrilled. Now to get a purple one for my gorgeous purple shadow quad. 😀
Maryse, since you really don’t have time to get into a series, you should definitely read The Year We Fell Down!!!! I loved it and I think you will too!
*.* Seductive looks, uhm…
I’m excited for the new Reapers book. I’ve loved them all so far. I’ll give The Bastards a try. It looks great interesting. 🙂
I’m on it. Tonight! 😀 thank you for helping me choose, Jean!
Haha Tessa… No words is the perfect reaction to *that* blurb. 😛
The Devils Contract was a great read. Very mysterious, different, and angsty. I kept wishing for it to end a certain way, but wholly crap the ending! Major cliffhanger!! But a highly recommended read nontheless!
Yay! Hope you love it as much as I did! Oh and that blurb for The Seduction……..yes, I am speechless also and I WANT TO READ IT!!!! LOL!
Fighting Temptation by K.C. Lynn is SO GOOD!!! I’ve read 1,000’s of books & I would have to put it in my top 10….it’s THAT good!! Gotta try it!
Yay!! You’re plunging into summer colors!! Blue and green eyeliners can be gorgeous. If you wanted a thicker line with those, you could use a liner brush with a smoke color shadow first along the lash line and then the colored liner over that, and it should tone down the BAM of the colored liner! *giggle* At least, I *think* that would help. Not making any promises there. 😉 For the purples, I’m thinking a charcoal or gunmetal gray maybe? Or even a deep eggplant depending on the shade of the shadow.
A toolbox thingy, huh? Pictures!!! Probably looks better than the IKEA Helmer I have my polish in!
*covering my book Dom’s ears* You and Jean have me wanting to veer from my TBR list and read The Year We Fell Down!!
Jean!!! The other part of my peanut gallery!!! I was beginning to think Aiden from Courtesan got a hold of you. 😛 I think you’ve sealed the deal on TYWFD for me. 🙂
I have the whole addicted series and addicts are my FAVE effed up characters but it is SO dauntingly long…
I think you would really, really like the Addicted series. Seriously!!!
The Addicted series is one of the best!! The first one was a little tough to handle sometimes, but my favorites are the spin-offs about the sisters. Every single character in these books are wonderful and complex, and the banter between them is fabulous. Wonderful writing. You MUST read these.
Just finished Against the Cage. I’m still giggling. I love a funny book. I think I’m going to try At Your Beck and Call. Scared of something to heavy after the LOL moments I just had. Or should I jump into heavy??? THe Addicted Series? I’m torn.
Stop whatever you’re doing and read the Addicted series!!
Beloved is a cliff hanger?? NOOOOOO!!! I’m reading it right now, I had no idea, prolly wouldn’t have read it if I knew that! Its really good but I HATE cliffhangers, I’d rather wait untill all the books are out!
I’m going to start Inflame #3 in the Explosive series. Ignite and Incinerate were reeeally good and Inflame is rated even higher!!! I’m all in;))) Army alpha males. Believe me they DO NOT disappoint!!!
@ Karrie: Okay okay, I’m stopping everything! LOL Addicted it is.
@ Sam: Yep. A cliffhanger. BLAH
A lot of new books this week! Where do I start? I loved Beloved until the end. I hate cliffhangers. I already read Against the Cage (I had an ARC). I absolutely loved it.I recommend it, especially in between these angsty books we’re all reading. I think this will be an “Addicted” weekend– thanks to Karrie’s command to stop everything. LOL
Its 3AM but I am still awake reading Live In Position. I’m really enjoying it so far and its a long one; 600ish pages according to Amazon! It has a nice slow build going on which I love!!! Then onto one of the four other ones I one clicked or maybe one I just saw called Her Ride by Rachael Orman!! I love all the choices!!;)
I’ve loved every last one of the books in The Addicted Series. I read them the day they are released. I do agree with BookwordDrea the first one is a bit tough at times but keep going. They are so good. The Year We Fell Down was also a great read. You have a lot to look forward to!
I loved Frenched! It’s funny & sweet. It’s a stand alone but there is a sequel coming out Friday called Yanked and the blurb has me worried but I can’t wait to read it!
I just finished the Neighbour from Hell series and was tempted to dive straight into the Addicted Series but then came my all-time favourite author Jane Harvey-Berrick with her new release At Your Beck & Call. I can’t recommend this one enough, not only for the great and original storyline and Jane’s exceptional writing style but it’s a longer and complete story at 489 pages.
I would like to tell you all about Hallen but I’ll hold back in fear of spoiling it for you but I will just say this one thing… buckle up before you even read the prologue!
Thanks so much for mentioning ‘At Your Beck & Call’. A couple of people have offered their own different guys for Hallen. Nils Butler seems to be a shoo-in for younger Hallen, and Heath Hutchins for the 28 year old version. It’s all about the research! Hope you get a chance to enjoy it 🙂 jx
Against the Cage and Frenched. Can’t say enough about these 2 books. FUNNY
what a great list! I absolutely loved Beloved! I was lucky enough To read an ARC so I’ll have even longer to wait for book two but I DON’T CARE! It was brilliant, funny, sexy it had all the feels! I mean seriously it’s an ex Navy Seal in a Suit!!! Lol Book two is already in the works so it won’t be a ridiculously drawn out wait like some. It was so well written I really didn’t let the CH bother me.
On his billionaire dollar baby, it’s not his brothers wife 🙂 she was a one night stand, but she worked with him on rehab, I don’t think that a spoiler, but I wanted to clarify 🙂 I read last night and it was really good 🙂 but the whole wife thing threw me off. The one night plays a big part that’s why I feel a need to clarify:)
Ahhhhh okay!! Thanks Jessica. In my blurb reading haste, I either read the blurb wrong, or just invented my own story. LOL!
What?.., the bastard and BDB feel as in Black dagger brotherhood feel. OMFGI I will definetely check this one.
MARYSE, WHAT ARE YOU REDING RIGHT NOW ? ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Finishing “The Year We Fell Down” tonight. 😀
Good stuff!
Immortal Crown by Richelle Mead came out on the 29th. It’s number two in the Age of X series. I don’t know how good it is; I’m in the middle of book one, Gameboard of the Gods.
Maryse and Amy I just finished the Avoiding Series. UGHHHH….I have run the gamut of emotions reading these books.( I did say I was ready for a angst smack-down) What a roller-coaster ride. I loved Ramsey and love-hated Jack. I knew how I wanted it to end and so now I’m not sure if I like how it ended, even if it may have ultimately made sense. I’m still looking at my kindle and saying WTF!!!! :0 Now to decide what to read next…something on my tbr (maybe Collide) or something new….
OR who am I kidding, maybe I need something sweet to de-fry my brain. Bad, bad Avoiding Series for messing with my brain!!:0
I just finished At Your Beck and Call yesterday. Jane Harvey-Berrick’s an amazing author. I’ve read three of her books now and they’ve all had such great plot. I was surprised when I saw that she’d written an ‘escort book’ thinking hasn’t that been done so many times already? But it was new and fresh. Really enjoyed it. I don’t always understand the younger man/older woman relationship she seems to like to write, but I guess the heart chooses who it will…
Also, I didn’t realize that the The Ivy Years by Sarina Bowen already had its second release! I read The Year We Hid Away today (indulging in a book weekend) and really liked it. It’s Bridger’s story and I have to say I adored him. This is a really cute series!
One more thing! You’ll definitely want to read the Addicted series! I had actually passed the first one up – the blurb just didn’t interest me, but the books are sooo much better than the summaries. The characters are multi-layered and so sympathetic. I read them all over the course of a week – I couldn’t stop.
Cheryl – that series puts you through a crazy ride, doesn’t it? 😉 *snicker* The third book surprised me, but I was actually okay with how things ended. I would never have believed that though right after the first book. Oooooh, he was not a nice guy! Glad you liked it. 🙂
