- The Sweetness of Forgetting by Kristin Harmel <— Thisssss looks gooood!! Rich and sweet and one of those heartwarming types, you know? Plus SO MANY great reviews! AND! Her life is falling apart around her… “At thirty-six, Hope McKenna-Smith is no stranger to bad news. - Outside the Lines: A Novel by Amy Hatvany <— Another one with great reviews and also has that rich, sweet growth feel to it (from the blurb, anyway). “Eden decides it’s time to find her father, to forgive him at last, and move forward with her own life. Her search takes her to a downtown Seattle homeless shelter, and to Jack Baker, its handsome and charming director. Jack convinces Eden to volunteer her skills as a professional chef with the shelter. In return, he helps her in her quest.“

- Climbing Out (Hawks Motorcycle Club Series Book 2) by Lila Rose <— BIKER BOOK ALERT!! “Deanna Drake has a past she longs to forget, but won’t ever be able to. She’s always been the tough one. No one, but her best friend Zara has ever been able to penetrate her cold, hard, shell. Until Griz Griz— a.k.a Grady Daniels, Hawks Motorcycle Club second in command, also has a past that he wishes he could undo…all except one part. It’s her past that brings them together. Only will it be forever?“
- Toxic: Logan’s Story (Torn Series Book 4) by K.A. Robinson <— R OCK STAR ALERT!!! It’s book #4 but can be read as a standalone. However, that said, I’m thinking starting this story from book #1 might be best, since it appears to have a ton of romantic angst as it progresses… And maybe love triangles, too? But for those that don’t mind starting later in the series… I can tell, definitely heartache. “Unable to let her go completely from his life, Logan reassumes his role of best friend while he watches Chloe find her happily ever after with another man.” BUT THEN!!! “The moment Jade saw Logan, she knew she wanted him. Unfortunately, he was with Chloe at the time. After his world falls apart, Jade steps in to comfort him, determined to bring back the Logan she once knew.“
- Unsuitable by Ainslie Paton <— Kristy recommends this recent release: “Currently reading Unsuitable and it is fantastic! Really making me think about gender roles and my goodness the feels. Couldn’t believe when I saw I was only 3% in and addicted, seems even crazier that im only at 35% now. Im just worried I’m in for some heartbreak. Highly recommend this!!” Oh yessss she’s older than him… and he works for her as her nanny… sounds good!!
- Sociopath: A Dark Romance by Lime Craven <— I’m bringing it back, ’cause Jennifer loved it! “Just finished sociopath!!!! Holy dark and twisty! Love him, hate him, love him, hate him, crazy, crazy, crazy! What a serious mind twist but oh so good. Could not put it down!” Yep. Sounds RIGHT UP MY DARK ALLEY!!!!
- On the Growl: A Shifter Romance Anthology by Lynn Red, Celia Kyle, Jessica Sims, Flora Dare, Marina Maddix <— GREAT reviews for this anthology and it’s bargain priced!!!
- The Life of Anna, Part 1: Enslaved by Marissa Honeycutt <— DARK READ ALERT!!! GREAT reviews. Plus, book 32 is out! “Raised by an extremely abusive guardian, Anna was molded into the perfect tool for Devin’s use. Devin will use Anna’s unique gifts to control everyone around him and eventually take her gifts for himself.” Hrmmm… it sounds paranormal but I can’t see any indication of a paranormal angle in the blurb or in the reviews I lightly skimmed… I dunno? Intrigued I am!
- The Life of Anna, Part 2: Entwined by Marissa Honeycutt <— Here’s part 2 and it was JUST RELEASED! I’m not going to read the blurb…
- Run by Blake Crouch <— tons of great reviews and that blurb… *shudders* Killing sprees… for days and then… “Y E S T E R D A Y All the power went out… T O N I G H T They’re reading the names of those to be killed on the Emergency Broadcast System. You are listening over the battery-powered radio on your kitchen table, and they’ve just read yours. Your name is Jack Colclough. You have a wife, a daughter, and a young son. You live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. People are coming to your house to kill you and your family. You don’t know why, but you don’t have time to think about that any more. You only have time to…. R U N”
- A Good Marriage by Stephen King <— I hear this one’s awesome (and it’s fairly bargain priced!): “Darcy Anderson’s husband of more than twenty years is away on one of his routine business trips when the unsuspecting Darcy looks for batteries in the garage. Her toe knocks up against a hidden box under a worktable and in it she discovers a trove of horrific evidence that her husband is two men—one, the benign father of her children, the other, a raging rapist and murderer. It’s a horrifying discovery, rendered with bristling intensity, and it definitively ends “A Good Marriage.”” Eeeeeeeep!!!!!
- Submerged by Cheryl Kaye Tardif <— Great reviews! “Rebecca Kingston yearns for a quiet weekend getaway, so she can think about her impending divorce from her abusive husband. When a mysterious truck runs her off the road, she is pinned behind the steering wheel, unable to help her two children in the back seat. Her only lifeline is a cell phone with a quickly depleting battery and a stranger’s calm voice on the other end telling her everything will be all right.“
- Mr. Mercedes: A Novel by Stephen King <— not bargain priced but SO many great reviews for this one. “In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes…“
- 11/22/63 by Stephen King <— WHOA WTH!!??? This one has a TONNNNN of great reviews, is on sale right now, and I have NO idea how to even begin descrying what the book is about from that blurb… a time portal where he can change the course of history. And a ton of creep-factor…
- 900 Miles: A Zombie Novel by S. Johnathan Davis <— On sale! “In a harrowing 900 mile race against time to get to his wife just as the dead begin to rise, John, a business man trapped in New York, soon learns that the zombies are the least of his worries, as he sees first-hand the horror of what man is capable of with no rules, no consequences and death at every turn…”
- Spirit Legacy (The Gateway Trilogy Book 1) by E.E. Holmes <— Oh this one sounds creeepy perfect!! TONS of great reviews. College student uprooted after tragedy… “Jess’ life has never been what anyone would call easy; doing damage control in the wake of your nomadic, alcoholic mother doesn’t exactly make for a storybook childhood. But now her world has fallen apart just when it should be coming together: her mother gone—dead under mysterious circumstances; her life uprooted to stay with estranged relatives she’s never met; and there’s something odd about some of the people she’s been meeting at school: They’re dead…“
- Bird Box: A Novel by Josh Malerman <— bev just picked up this one and yep… looks scary as heck!!!! She says: “I just picked up a scary book because of recs, though I usually don’t do horror. But lot of recs. Suppose to be scary….maybe one day I’ll be brave enough. It’s Birdbox by Josh Malerman.” Ohhh look at this, from the blurb: “Something terrifying that must not be seen. One glimpse and a person is driven to deadly violence. No one knows what it is or where it came from. Five years after it began, a handful of scattered survivors remain, including Malorie and her two young children. Living in an abandoned house near the river, she has dreamed of fleeing to a place where they might be safe. Now, that the boy and girl are four, it is time to go. But the journey ahead will be terrifying: twenty miles downriver in a rowboat—blindfolded—with nothing to rely on but her wits and the children’s trained ears. One wrong choice and they will die. And something is following them. But is it man, animal, or monster?“
Your “halloween crew” is soooo cute!!!
Thanks for another great list. I’m going to start it with Unsuitable.
I think I should read something Halloweeny today…maybe Red Hill or first EIT book.
Finished Prisoner today and I was very disappointed…. it had so much potential…
What are you reading Maryse?
Jean… I’m reading Prisoner… I’m at the part where they faked out the guy with the flat tire… so only about 30% in. Darn now I’m worried…
Jean you are still my favorite.
LOL!!! ❤️
Omg, you guys! I miss you! I know I’ve been MIA (but a serious lurker still….I don’t miss any of your posts Maryse!) Hopefully once things settle down, I will be able to get back into being a part of the group! I actually felt funny coming back on here after so long…. Hope you and Maryse are both doing well!! Hugs!
We’re doing well, Jean!!! It’s so fun talking to you from the past… or future? LOL!!! That’s bev for you. 😉
I think I’m going to finally start the Torn series by K.A. Robinson….it’s been sitting in my TBR list ever since it was bundled for $.99….months ago.
Lauren it looks SOOOO good… well. I say that based on the blurb of book #4, but I can imagine the turmoil it took to even get that THAT. You know?
Thank you Fabi!! The one we call Pumpkin legs (the biggest pumpkin head there) lights up so pretty at night.
Yes… Unsuitable sounds like a good read.
Maryse, it just ended so abruptly… Not so much a cliffhanger but….assuming it picks up in book 2?? I did like it though! Look forward to your thoughts on it!
Maryse they are adorable.
I just picked up a scary book because of recs, though I usually don’t do horror. But lot of recs and 1.99 . Suppose to be scary….maybe one day I’ll be brave enough. It’s Birdbox by Josh Malerman.
Jean I want to try the next in the series, but for me it was like it had a beginning and an ending but no real middle, lol.
Your decorations look so sweet, Maryse!! Hubby wanted an evening at home just enjoying the trick-or-treaters, so we’re watching Trick ‘r Treat and I’m making these…
https://www.imbored-letsgo.com/chocolate-peanut-butter-cup-martini/
AND I’m reading Red Fox to add to the creepy factor of the day. 😉
HAPPY HALLOWEEN ladies!!!! 😀
Deep into Charley and Reyes… Book 7 & the series is still GOOD! And she’s the grim reaper so it works on Halloween!!
Those guys look so cute. Great way to welcome the neighbors to the house.
Life of Anna looks good. It went into my TBR for my dark reads needs. (which is definitely not now for some reason) And, as for the PNR possible twist, in book 1 blurb caution by the author, it says “My heroine is human…-ish.” Ooooh!
I’ve been on a PNR kick that ended abruptly yesterday. :/ So my first Halloween read is a romance involving a Prince? It had a CH, so um… maybe that’s scary? *grins* The book was free, but what a good book. It was sweet, angsty, royal drama, alpha jerk… Command Me by Geneva Lee. The cover and title are totally misleading. The blurb is misleading. This is a great romance, period. The only accuracy is the prince is definitely an alpha jerk.
Addicted After All is finally out – for anyone who reads this series by Krista and Becca Ritchie.
Well I’m still reading iced not liking this red hag woman how dare she take barrons intestines!! I also wasn’t allowed to make the baby a machalo so she was a bunny instead though a cute cute one cause u know her momma is a scardy cat so only cute things at Halloween! I also was told by my mother to make sure I don’t get freaked out by people who are dressed up an randomly start throwing salt and blinding people with my torch because she says that’s how u get arrested dear! Yeah so can’t wait for Halloween to be over!
Laura you’re so funny. And I have to agree with you about the “cute only” costumes. I’m a scardy cat too.
O.M.G. people. I just finished Vain part two. I am as speechless as I was when I finished part 1. Mouth hanging wide open. Shaking my head in disbelief. WOW
Vain spoiler discussion thread:
https://talk.maryse.net/threads/vain-by-deborah-bladon.5984/
Laura I’m pretty sure if you went around randomly throwing salt at people you would be the scary one.=-O
I’m sure she was the cutest bunny in Scotland.
Curious as to what you think ofDani’s potential men?
Laura & Fabi a little Halloween cute.https://bookriot.com/2014/10/03/14-amazing-bookish-halloween-costumes-children/
Fabi you are on a reading roll.
Maryse- adorable pumpkin crew!!
We’re sticking home handing out candy and I’m reading Into the Hollow- great Halloween read!!
Happy Halloween everyone!! 🙂
Omg Bev, those are precious!!!!
and I so needed that…I on Vain 3 now and there’s no more room in my stomach for knots. Definitely need a break.
gotta add this because you said reading roll
Last Light was full of layers for me. Not as much as Night Owl but still with a lot of depth that can be missed if just reading at a glance
Vain is in your face gut punch wham with the plot points. Ouch and oof.
I hope you’ve been well and able to read all the books.
Cool cause I got the bundle couple days ago. But my attention has been shot last couple days so I’ll wait till I can focus.
Having fun dipping in and out of Mathilda.
So what is your next read, #3?
Maryse love your Halloween decoration.
Happy Halloween guys!! My county and neighboring county are having their Homecoming football games tonight and because those are such a huge deal in our area trick or treating is taking place tomorrow night!! I know right?? So I think my reading decision for this evening is Morning Glory by LaVyrle Spencer. The synopsis just grabbed my attention. A more gentle read after reading After by Krylov. Maryse looking forward to seeing your new blog room!!! I can only imagine how exciting that must be!!
Bev, yeah I’m reading 3 now. Gotta go do the Halloween thing for a while though so it’ll be later tonight before I can read again.
“Having fun dipping in and out of Mathilda”
😯
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
That has me laughing.
I’m basically slow pitching them to you, aren’t I?
I actually liked Prisoner. A solid “4” for me only because the ending left so many questions unanswered. I would absolutely buy Book 2 if there is one.
I’m starting Deviant tonight. Am I the only one who thinks it sounds a lot like RAW?
Ok I have an iced question that’s just bugging me does ryodan like ‘like’ dani or is he just making sure she’s his to basically use for her talents cause if he likes her he’s so not going to win her doing the nasty with Jo wtf?!
Okay, skinwalkers?!?!? Not cool, man. Not cool at all. Hubby and I have a very dear friend who was (literally) born and raised on a reservation, and he has told us some SCARY legends/stories including those with skinwalkers. *shudder* I’m gonna have to drink myself to sleep tonight.
Laura, I am still cracking up over your phobias. 😛
Laura you crack me up. No can tell girlie. You have to read on.
One thing I loved about Dani is I can’t guess how her story will go.
I’m wondering if I need to do a re read before Burned
I liked reading the different answers to the tbr questions.
Just finished Serial Volume II it was amazing
Finished Vain part 3. Hmmm it was great but it needed a bit more before the ending. There’s a free novella mentioned at the end of the book. I bet that’s what it’ll take to keep this in the 5 * category. But I haven’t seen it mentioned yet.
Bev how cute are those pictures!!! I wish I could link u one of my little bunny!! It’s morning here btw so I survived Halloween!! I’m sort of forgetting dani is only 14 I mean in the uk when she turns 16 she is legal anyway but I mean 14 is still jailbait!! Christian is totally bammy I don’t know what the hells goin on with dancer and I mean come on wtf are ryodan and barrons?! We still done have a name for it!!
PUSH is only .99 cents for the next four days in anticipation of PULL’s release on November 6th!!!!!
I know Amy, Red Fox was creepy, BUT the bar scene with Dex and Perry-finally something!! 🙂
Laura I’m very curious about her age and what it means to the timeline of the books. I’m going to have to look up release date of burned so that I can do a re read. The part that made me kind of go “whoa” is when visits Christian and he hides his guest.
It is funny I have Killer Queen and I keep looking at it. I was so surprised & happy when it came out because I loved Fred & Viv. So want to revisit them. But for some reason I’m holding off. Maybe enjoy the anticipation last longer? Or just the right time to be able to get lost in the book?
Though thinking maybe Sun.
Do you ladies do this?
Hi bev!! Here I am from the future, testing this comment from the long-stream of comment block that this used to be. 😉
Lol. I didnt get a notification, something about my profile hates them for some reason. 🤷♀️.
But while I’m in the past I’m going to say hello from the future to some people.
LOL!! Hellllloooooo!!!!
I wonder if it puts the notifications for you in your spam box? Did you check there?
Laura, to paraphrase the author, he sees the potential of her. He’s basically staking a claim now, and waiting for her to grow up. Sort of the, “I like you kid, and we’ll be dating when you grow up” feelings.
Violet Addiction by Kirsty Dallas was just released and so was Loving Lawson by my favorite author, RJ Lewis…and its only 99¢!!
Iced is probably one of the few I won’t have to reread when the sequel comes out. I may not remember all the details but the story really stuck. It was so fast paced and surprisingly good.
I’m reading Measure of Devotion now. It was just a random download I saw while looking at other recommendations. It was free so I grabbed it. It is surprisingly good!
Finished!!! It was good really wish the next was out its jan 2015 bev not sure exact date though!! Don’t know what I will be reading next either should I go with prisoner?
I was going to start Push today, but Pull doesn’t come out until Thursday! Why not Tuesday? *grumble*
So, today will be either The Benson and then Dead Sky Morning or Redemption or What We Leave Behind or maybe finally Archer’s Voice. I love days where my biggest decisions are what to read. 😉
Bev, I do the exact same thing. I have *multiple* series sitting on my Kindle app waiting TBR, and I have no idea why. Maybe it’s like you said about waiting for the right time to get lost in the book. Or it’s probably just that I am extremely undisciplined in sticking with my TBR list. Yeah, that’s what it is.
*gives one-finger salute to Book Dom*
“Gives one finger salute to Book Dom”……blahahahahaha!!!! Love it!
Laura what all is in your tbr?
Amy it’s funny because for some I get happy just looking at them yet put them off. I’m not familiar with Redemption or WWLB.
Just picked up Love in English for .99. I think that ends today.
Bev, WWLB is by Rochelle Weinstein and is supposed to be a “what could have been” book. Hopefully it will have a lot of longing and angst and will make my heart ache. *giggle* Love books like that!!!
I just realized I have several books titled Redemption on my Kindle app, but the one I’m eyeing right now is by Kathryn Barrett, and I’ll admit it’s the pretty cover that is making me want to pick it up. Only thing is there are no reviews on Amazon yet, so I’m now thinking of saving it for when I need a super sweet read after a heavy read as that is what it seems like it will be.
Ya like that, Jean? 😛 Although I don’t recommend doing that to a Book Dom too often… *rubs backside*
By the way, Bev…Love in English is fantastic!!!!! 😀
I LOVED Prisoner!
Well worth reading. She depicted the ‘I’m so attracted to you and I really really shouldn’t be’ so well. Not insta-love, something different I think most have experienced; you ‘click’ and it is entrancing and consuming.
I was happy with ending and I’m hoping there will be more books…
Same way Amy, not sure why some books/series sit on my tbr list. Think I just get squirrelly with new releases or when everyone is talking about a great read. *saluting my book dom*
Archers Voice is so,so good!!! 😉
Pfft bev I have:
Darynda jones’ charley Davidson series
Riot Jamie begley
Precarious – bella jewel
Sociopath- line craven
Prisoner – Skye warren
Blood deep – Lindsay Pryor
Claimed – Rebecca zanetti
And they are the 1st page!!!
Ok I have to give u all the Scottish word of the day hubby said one I haven’t heard in ages it’s shoogaling lol its so funny it means shaking as in – ur shoogaling about lol
Laura I’ve only read Prisoner and Charley Davidson. Prisoner I liked but just liked. I am planning on reading the second book.
Charley is a very likable heroine and the book is funny.
You are coming off such great reads.
Lol, I’m petting someone’s cat and he is purring, drooling, and licking my fingers. It more what I’d expect from my dogs. Funny thing.
Laura, never heard shoogaling. 🙂 cool
Bev, yay for kitty dogs. Lol
Shoogaling?? I would *love* to hear that said with a Scottish accent! 😉
OMG Bev…is “cat” what you two call his *ahem*? Read your sentence again but replace “cat” with whatever you refer to “it” as.
Yeah, you see/hear it now??
LOL!!!!!! 😛
Dirty.
I am on such a roll with books I’m enjoying that all I want to do is read. I’ve loved the last several I’ve read and have done nothing but read for days now.
Really need to get some things tomorrow. But the only way that’s going to happen is if I don’t start another good one tonight.
I only have about 30 pages left in this one. So does anyone have a “bad” recommendation I can start tonight? 🙂
Laura if you liked Iced, you might also enjoy The Mortal Instruments series which starts with City of Bones. It’s one of my all time favorite urban fantasy reads.
Amy bwahaaaaaa!!!
Fabi, Insurmountable and Lovely Vicious were both low, low stars for me for various reasons. You could give those a try for your “bad” recommendations. 😉
Then again, you are probably a little familiar with what I like to read so…there’s that. Take my recs for what they’re worth. 😉
Maryse Push is .99 the next four days!!! 😉
By the way, I am in *no way* trying to say those are bad books…just that they didn’t work for me.
*snicker* Glad you got that one, Cheryl!! 😛
Amy that is funny and seriously gross at the same time. I compared the cat to my dogs…..so that’s just wrong.
So all you Ilona Andrews fans I’m listening to a podcast were she is interviewed and, oh my how cute and fun she is. And her accent so great. It’s from Smart Bitches Trashy Books on Stitcher it is under DBSA ep 106.
OMG Bev, did I offend you? I’m so sorry if I did!!! 😕
*offers Blow-Pop martini to Bev*

I just finished Measure of Devotion. That random free book I downloaded? Turned into a 5* read. Gutted. I am completely gutted by this tale of selfless love. Where is the crying emoticon when you need it?
I don’t know what to read!! I’m not home just now anyways have to go get the baby then I will decide, fabi I will have to add those to the tbr is there a film out about those? Bev is charley YA?
Yup they made a movie out of the first one
Maryse, you absolutely must continue the Addicted to You series!! The first one was good, but the following books were incredible. Honestly, the supporting characters books are the best. All of the characters are brilliant and full of depth! Rose/Connor and Daisy/Ryke are amazing!
Laura not YA. I haven’t kept up with the series, plan to go back.
I’m jealous of you and Fabi just knocking out these books left and right.
Dont let my comment put you off Prisoner. I think Maryse is reading it & maybe will do a review. I did like it. Just not shout it from the roof tops, but read it straight through.
Ok I picked a Sunday read and I’m sticking to it.Riding Dirty by Jill Sorenson.
Fingers crossed its a good one.
On the Growl is a great paranormal anthology, each story is more a novella and some of them will have follow up stories about other people in the books, its a paranormal and I gave it 5 stars on Amazon, would have given more but thats all they allow lol get it before the price goes up,if you like paranormal shifters, you will love this book,I certainly did
