Y’all know how crazy I went for “Night Owl”. I LOVED everything about it. Especially that brooding and reclusive (yet adorable & undeniably sexy) oddball, Matt from “Night Owl“. A famous author writing under a pen name meets up with another aspiring author (female 😉 ) online. He likes to keep his private life private, but she of course, you know… gets too close for comfort. The skeletons in his closet are rattling. 😉 LOVED IT!!!! Did I mention I loved it? LOL! (Here’s my review —> Night Owl)
Anyway, guess what? M. Pierce just sent over a teaser for book #2 (Last Light (The Night Owl Trilogy) releasing October 28th 2014, saying:

Teaser from: Last Light (The Night Owl Trilogy)
On Saturday evening, Hannah dressed in a black and white skirt suit for the release party. I tied a silk scarf around her neck to hide my love bites. We’d been in bed almost nonstop since my impromptu arrival at the condo, emerging only to bathe and eat.
And the sex was different—tinged with violence. Hannah struggled every time, and I f@%ked her hard while she begged me to stop. She never used her safe word. It gave me a terrible thrill.
“Why do you have to go so early?” I pulled her into my arms. “It’s my book you’re celebrating. I should have some say in this.”
I kissed her neck and cupped her ass. She wriggled against my hands. Such a tease.
“Because,” she sighed. “I promised Pam I’d help set up, like I said. Several times.”
“Let me look at your ass.” I turned Hannah around and bit the back of her neck. I tucked her bottom against my groin. “You wouldn’t leave me alone with a h@rd-on, would you?”
“I might.” She grinned over her shoulder. “Lube’s in the bedside table.”
“You’re a bad bird.”
We fooled around halfheartedly, and then Hannah left. I was instantly miserable.
I wandered the condo, trying to comprehend Hannah’s life apart from me. Nothing looked different. There was her yoga mat, her exercise ball, a few manuscripts from work. The rooms were tidy. I found leftovers from various meals in the fridge.
I checked the wall safe. Everything was in order: the cash, her TracFone, the unit cards.
Hannah’s life went on without me.
My poooooooor, sweeeeeeeet, mooooooody, filthy-mouthed, Matt. I *heart* him so hard! He needs a cuddle. I hope he has his manatee nearby. Awwwwww that scene (that whole sweet chapter) will FOREVER live in my heart.

I generally don’t go for the moody type male leads, there are enough A**holes out there, I don’t need to read about them. Christian Grey was probably the only one but then Matthew Sky entered my world. But his moodyness & reclusiveness just makes him Matt. He’s the type of guy you don’t pity at all but you just want to hug him tightly and never want to let him go. Plus dirty talk is such an art and he has that s**t down pat!

I love this book. I thought the premise was fascinating and grabbed my attention immediately. My favorite moody/bad boy right now is Heller from the Heller series by J.D. Nixon. He is so hard to figure out it is unbelievable.

‘Z’ from BDB is my favorite moody, reclusive, growly kind of alpha of all time. But I also really enjoyed Archer from Archer’s Voice and Kade from Beautifully Beautiful. Oh, and don’t forget about Sebastian from Surviving Raine since I think living on a boat only leaving to get booze and get laid counts as a recluse. However, Matthew Sky is right in there with these men! I can’t wait to see where the next book takes us.

It is hands-down one of my all-time favorite books and I have re-read it more than thrice! I first read it when it was an indie and I was shocked because M’s writing is simply amazing and it’s hard to believe that this is M’s debut novel! The story line is original, refreshing and I love how it’s metafiction! But most of all, I fell head over heels for M/Matt! That sexy, dirty-talking Scorpio stole my heart and took my breath away! How not to love a rabbit-owning (I love Laurence! 🙂 ) Manatee-hugging, beautiful mind? He is totally endearing and being a Scorpio myself, I’m totally attracted to him! It’s in the stars!!! Lol!

Other than Matt, I immediately thought of Archer as reclusive but I don’t think he was moody other than in the beginning really, at least not as much as some of the others because he was so sweet. Love him!! Anyway, having recently discovered the ‘burg series, I gotta go with Joe “Cal” Callahan from At Peace!
Archrr from Archers Voice was one of my top “Moody” characters but I think Jesse Ward from This Man takes the cake!! I love the “Moody” H because somewhere inside theres something usually dark that has happened that makes them that way. And the Angst lover inside of me NEEDS to know what that is!! Pepper Winters writes Moody well, also!!!

I have 2 faves that come to mind…Matt from Night Owl and Zhadist from the BBD series! Both of these characters are so moody and are so mean at times that you want to just choke the sh*t outta them! But then they turn on the dirty talk and the charm and I immediately fell back in love with them. I love both of these characters and the authors did a wonderful job creating their stories!
