Happy NEW RELEASE DAY, happy last day of February AND!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BLOG!! It is eight years old today, and I’m going to put up a fun post later on all about it. 😉 My fellow book-crew asked me a bunch of personal/blog questions for me to answer, and we’re gonna reminisce too. I can’t wait!!!
But for now, what a better way to celebrate a BOOK BLOG’S BIRTHDAY, than with this plethora of awesome-sounding book releases by so many, and I MEAN SO MANY of our favorite authors. It’s a book-celebration for sure!!!! 😀

Nancy: I was in the mood for something lighter and fun after a few really rough reads. BEAST by Debra Anastasia (Author of Poughkeepsie) is a new release, only 99 cents & short easy reading. It is a ridiculous fun story with a good ending. My review: This is a romantic comedy and not a serious story. When I started reading up till about 16% I actually couldn’t believe the main male character, named Dick Dongy, could be that crazy. But the poor main female character, Hendrix (Henry) Lemon would and had dated men crazier, and been on crazier dates. I was reading while my husband and I were taking a car trip. Every time I came to a funny part, I would read aloud to him. He was laughing and told me to just keep reading to him. It made our trip go so fast.Dick Dongy had abs. Everywhere. Like abs for days. Abs on his face. Abs on his arms. Abs! And somehow he thought this makes him irresistible. He’s a beast that thinks he’s a beauty. Like in Beauty and the Beast there is a fair maiden, but she is the one that does most of the rescuing. Hendrix was one protective woman. This is a short romantic comedy and should just be read as such and enjoyed. And they came happily ever after.
Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas <— FREAKY FREEBIE ALERT! This is my VERY FIRST DARK READ ever. And I mean DARK!!!!!!!! And I loved it, and I chastised myself for falling so hard… ’cause you know. DARK. Gah! Is anyone else having problems with amazon or kindle app? I read on the kindle app on my phone mostly and have for years with no real problems. I can’t download anything that I own now or samples or anything. They all just say click to retry. Grrrrr!! I only have a half hr of reading time left before later tonight, this is infuriating! I’ve deleted and redownloaded the app, synced it, turned on and off my phone, tried reading samples through the first look here feature on actual Amazon web and it says retry too!

I just finished Something in the Way by Jessica Hawkins. I judge a book by whether or not I can put it down and I could not put it down. 5 stars for me. Now I have to wait until May for number 2. Thankfully this list just came out so I will look it over for my next big read and hopefully it will have another page turner.

This week is Kresley Cole, the last Night Prince novel (I adore that couple together), and Jennifer L Armentrout. I still have to read Carter Reed 2, because I liked how 1 ended and really liked pretending the HEA was forever. Ah well. Also, Cheater looks good. 😀

King cake has to do with Mardi Gras. It’s made of cinnamon filled dough, topped with a sweet glaze and green, purple, and gold sugars to represent faith, justice, and power. Kind of like the 3 kings who brought gifts to baby Jesus. And that’s where the plastic baby comes in. It’s supposed to be whoever finds the baby in the cake will have good fortune in year to come. Honestly the plastic baby creeps me out, but the cake is yummy and the colors are so pretty! Very festive. 😉

I had a hard time getting into it. It was just meh; sad to say boring at times. Not as funny as I thought it would be and the h drove me crazy.

Ooh Cadbury mini eggs!!! I’ve always called them the Robin eggs for some reason, ever since I was a kid. I hate the whopper eggs, but the mini are perfect. That crunchy, sugary outer shell and then the chocolate too. (heart emoji bc I’m not talented like you guys and can only 🙂 😉 :P) I forget Easter stuff is out. I wish I could steer clear of that aisle tomorrow, but now the seed has been planted…

Leslie, Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland, Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, or Kids of Appetite by David Arnold. All of these made it to my best of 2016 list too. Our Chemical Hearts really gives u that feel of John Green/Rainbow Rowell. Dark Matter was so different but really good, easy not too sci-fi, I don’t think, but makes you think, and there is a love story there. Kids of Appetite was love, adventure, friendship, growing up, a hint of mystery, so great!

I’ve only read the 1st Twilight, bc I watched the movies 1st (I didn’t even know they were books at the time). I only read the 2nd Sheehan book, I read spoilers to the 1st. I’ve read 2 T Fisher books, loved Marrow, hated The Opportunist. And I can’t remember if I’ve read the 1st Avoiding Commitment book. The cover is throwing me off bc the blurb doesn’t match the story in my head of the one I remember. But in the one I remember there was a 5 years later part towards the end that sort of ruined it for me.

So here’s my BIG confession: I really like C.Hoover books when I’m reading them, then I can’t remember them AT ALL when I see them in my library. They are just “poof” out of my head!

The author actually rewrote that book from his POV because he is beloved! That one is called Vampire Hunter I think! I got an autographed copy. Ram is just that hot!

Amy – I want to fall for my leading man, and he was a hard guy to fall for! Sure, he was sweet as all get out, but the constant references to his “extra weight” and all the “sweat” and that tattoo of his! And his greasy hair. And his “plank face” – what the heck? I was starting to picture Andre the giant and that was no good. And of course, she was itty bitty teeny tiny extra small petite wearing little girl’s clothes. What an odd couple. It was an uncomfortable read for sure.

I wasn’t turned off by this guy so much as I was not turned ON, you know what I mean? Lots of sweaty creases – ICK – man boobs not okay for my heroes. LOL.
Best antihero types? For me it’s guys like Dex – or someone who is scarred (like Zhadist) then I can handle the “non traditional leading man”. Am I shallow that I don’t want him to be fat and sweaty?

I’m actually almost finished now. I’m at the climax *rubs hands, smiling manically.* This book hadn’t even been on my radar. I found it randomly and thought the premise sounded good. I figured it would be ok, hopefully good. But I’m actually really loving it! It was exactly what I needed. It’s NA, and it gives me the same feeling as a lot of my old favorites did. It’s like a mashup of a bunch I can’t put my finger on, but also had me thinking a little of Fast and the Furious. There’s no racing though, just sort of those feelings. Pleasantly surprised!

Finished! I would totally recommend if you’re in the mood for a good NA with great characters, a good storyline and some action. I love finding little gems, I can’t believe there are so few ratings, but from what I’ve seen they’re all good! It says it was published in 2015.

Hey, everyone! I got my new heart and all is going great! I can’t tell you what a blessing it is to have a healthily beating heart for the first time in fourteen years! They got rid of the chest tube this afternoon, and hopefully, I’ll be out of cardiac ICU tomorrow and possibly go home by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Thanks again SO much for your thoughts and prayers–they mean so very much to me! I’ll try to get on here in the next couple of days and get caught up, but for now, I’m just watching A LOT of Food Network, lol! Talk to you all again soon!
