And so is Marcello…“
- Thrill Me (One Night with Sole Regret Book 9) by Olivia Cunning <— OLIVIA CUNNING ROCK STAR JUST WENT LIVE!!! SHE LIKES FUN WITH HIM… BUT HE’S GOT A PREGNANT GROUPIE!! YIKES! “…the more time they spend together, the more she starts to think he’s good for much more than ticking fantasies off her list. Now if only that pregnant groupie of his would get lost.” (P.S. Here’s the series reading order)
- A Kingdom of Dreams (The Westmoreland Dynasty Saga Book 2) by Judith McNaught <— JUDITH MCNAUGHT FAVORITE IS ON SALE!!! I want to build my collection of this author’s books that have just finally become available as ebooks, considering how MUCH my fellow readers LOVE these books… and now I can add TWO more to my collection!! Make sure to check out this recent favorites list, so you can see how crazy everyone is over her books!! ➔ Big Huge News! All of Judith McNaught’s books are now available in ebook format, plus I have some Judith McNaught Reader Recommendations!
Anne: I say start with Kingdom of Dreams Maryse. Love that book so much!
Tessa: Kingdom of Dreams was so good. I fell in love with that book and went through two paperbacks of it.
- Once and Always (The Sequels series Book 1) by Judith McNaught <— JUDITH MCNAUGHT OMG ON SALE TOO!!!
Lauren: Once and Always is another one that is so awesome….it’s about a different couple but set in the same time period & location.
Jenn: My prized book is an autographed copy of Once and Always personally autographed to me by Judith McNaught.
- Unbroken: Understood, Overheard and Undenied by Maya Banks <— MAYA BANKS SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!! “All three of Maya Banks’s sexy novellas combined into one volume!”
- Prisoned: A Dark Twisted Erotic Standalone by Marni Mann <— DARK READ ALERT!! SHE’S BEEN KIDNAPPED… I’ve been told this one is pretty unputtdownable!! Nancy found it for us as a super-bargain sale, I know my friend Kandace LOVED it, and Jean says: “I’m at 50%. Intriguing and hoping my predictions are wrong so it will throw me for a loop!“
Happy NEW RELEASE DAY!!! It’s also the last big release day of November, but no worries. Next week promises to kick of December with some major book-oomph!!! 😀 80+ to pick and choose from today (some for every romance mood, whether you’re in the mood for a sweet love story, or a heart wrenching one… or even a creepy dark one), and I’ve found a few that look great to me!
What looks extra-good? Here are the ones that gave me a blurb jolt: That one there to the left, To Capture What We Cannot Keep (seems like it will have that epic love feel, with all of the hardships of social class disparity – she’s poor and he’s wealthy… you know how it goes, but it sounds poignant!) and Road to Paradise (PAULLINA SIMONS!!! And this one sounds like a thriller of sorts. Two girlfriends go on a road trip, but pick up a hitchhiker, and she pulls them into her terrifying world. GASP!!!). And… Dauntless (actually that’s book #3, I want to start from the beginning ’cause THAT premise had my heart in a lurch right off the bat. It sounds so good ’cause it’s a paranormal about a couple that wanted to have a baby SO bad), and Wordless sounds like a dark romance, and I’ve never read (or watched) the original fairytale that this is a twist on, but it sounds right up my alley), Fire in You (I LOVE this author, and I love the whole bad-boy MMA fighter premise, which is what I *think* this is about), Tracing the Stars (sounds like it will be a fun love/hate romance between two people that are trying to stay away from each other in a very small space… LOL!! I loved THIS part: “…they make a conscious effort to stay away from each other. Which is a hard thing to do when you’re stuck inside of a glorified igloo with only forty-three other people…”), and You Make Me Weak (because I love a good romance-potential with a no-nonsense brooding cop that wants nothing to do with getting close to people). :D!!! YAY ME!!!!
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

- Starcrossed, the Complete Series: Bad Romeo; Broken Juliet; Wicked Heart (The Starcrossed Series) by Leisa Rayven <— HUGELY POPULAR ANGSTY ROMANCE SERIES BUNDLE ALERT!!!
Antonella: Totally agree with Bad Romeo/Broken Juliet by Leisa Rayven, the angst in that book was off the Richter scale and you just could not put the book down.
Nay: I’ll also chime in about Bad Romeo/Broken Juliet–I FLOVED them! They were two of my top ten reads of 2015 (cause that’s when I read them).
Leslie: Anyone who hasn’t read Bad Romeo/Broken Juliet needs to get on it!!! It was awesome, swoony read. Highly recommend!!!
Anne: I think I am starting Wicked Heart next. I simply love Leisa Rayven and her angsty books.
- Beautiful Boys: Beautiful Bastard, Beautiful Stranger, and Beautiful Player (The Beautiful Series) by Christina Lauren <— HUGELY POPULAR PARTIAL SERIES BUNDLE ALERT!!! (here it is on Amazon UK)
Grey: The Beautiful Series is one of my very favorite series ever…so this is very bittersweet for me, knowing it’s the end of an era now. The writing team of Christina Lauren are such a package of awesome, wrapped in amazing and heavily dusted in fairy glitter. They’re like a unicorn… The way they write so seemlessly together, it’s truly magical. I’m going to miss this cast of characters something fierce. The ending for our Bastard, Bitch, Player, Stranger, Secret, Beginning, Beloved, Bombshell, Boss and yes, Beautiful… Was, well, it was poignant, a true full circle. If you haven’t read this series and enjoy well-written new adult stories with a healthy dose of humor, complex characters, hot smut and some angst…look no further! Beautiful (the book) gets 4.5 stars for the beginning and the ending alone. I really enjoyed the seamless integration of past characters into Jensen and Pippa’s story while giving them a tale of their own. Definitely not a standalone!!! I sense a book hangover coming on!
Lisa: Just finished Beautiful and it was the perfect conclusion to that series. I’m going to miss that group. And can I just say. ..the Christina Lauren duo are bloody well Grand Pohbahs of contemporary romance…..their characters are so well developed and given so much depth the reader ‘knows’ them…..their likes, dislikes, idiosyncrasies, humor…..and the authors maintain the depth in the characters across every book…no one fades into the background. Loved it all.
Jan: …the Beautiful series is one of my favs too. So well-written and involving…

I have From Sand and Ash preordered. Starting that one next!
The Road to Paradise and To Capture What We Cannot Keep sound like must reads to me right now, and a bunch of others look pretty good too. Will have to read through blurbs more thoroughly later on. Also, Lauren Graham’s Talking as Fast as I Can released today!! Love Gilmore Girls and Lauren Graham. I’m currently on the ‘fall’ episode of the revival and I’m loving it, but scared too as some people’s reactions haven’t sounded as thrilling as I’d hoped.
Oh awesome Tasha, I’ll add it! 😀
R… she’s an awesome writer.
I’ve never read her before. I have Making Faces to start too! Both paperbacks so I can get them signed next weekend. YAY!!!
Making Faces was AWESOME and one of my all-time favorites. It’s just… all-encompassing, ya know?
Don’t forget about my new hockey romance, Destiny on Ice. It’s available for pre-order for 99 cents and releases December 1.
You’ve never read any Amy Harmon R.? I agree with Making Faces being an all time favorite, I had my Mom read it right after I was done and she loved it too and went on to read the rest that I’ve got of hers. A Different Blue was where I 1st discovered my love for her writing and I really loved Infinity + One too. I’ve been wanting to get to The Bird and the Sword. Time, where are you??
Isn’t The Bird and the Sword fantasy? I’m not sure about that one but it has great reviews. And what do you mean time? As in when am I starting it? Or time where I am?
Yep The Bird and the Sword is fantasy. I like some fantasy now and then and I’ve read reviews that say even if you’re not a big fan of it, you (in general) may like this book. Lol!! I’m talking to “time” as if it were a person. It seems he’s left me and I was hoping he’d make a visit. 😉
LOL I’m out of it. 3am bedtime and all!
To Capture What We Cannot Keep and Wordless are DEFINITE clicks. And Two-Family House (how good does that one sound?!?) was one of the many books I clicked yesterday which made me blow right through my Amazon gift card balance. So much for trying to use those cards to put a cap on my book spending!!
By the way, Don’t You Cry by Mary Kubica is on sale for 2.99 right now, and it’s apparently a psych thriller…click! 😀
Alright, I have to make a fuss about Bad Romeo/Broken Juliet again…seriously guys, they are GREAT!!!!! The perfect amount of angst and emotion all wrapped up in a second chance story. Read it!! And I’m being bossy ’cause bev called me the boss lady. *snort*
And even though I haven’t read Making Faces yet, I loved Amy Harmon’s Infiniti + One (*swoony sigh*) and really, really liked Law of Moses.
*waves* Just saying hi! I got back from my vacation last night, so you might here more from me. I’ve been reading Fabi’s rec of Ice Barbarian series. It was perfect. Short, good, but I didn’t want to abandon my family for it. 🙂
*waves at Tessa*
*decides to tackle Tessa in a hug*
:D!!!!
So I had one pop up as a Freebie today – I Wish I Could Remember You by LJ Epps. It sounds intriguing if anyone wants to take advantage of a free one. The premise is she marries a man and he turns into an abusive cheating ass. She decides to leave her husband, is working on a divorce, and meets the man of her dreams. Then she gets into an accident that gives her amnesia. And she doesn’t remember the new man in her life and all the wonderful things, but she does remember her old husband, just not the awful things he did.
*tackle hugs Tessa* Sorry, I’m a little wound up today. 😛
Holy moly, Lisa…that one sounds great!!
Amy, you should do a book swap with me. I’ll read Romeo you do Simon next week.
I guess I’m not getting update emails now. I hope I don’t have to change my account. I hate doing that.
Tessa, I believe Ice Barbarian was MichelleS’ rec. Not mine for sure. Glad you enjoyed it though. 🙂
I am super intrigued by Underground by Cecilia Johanna. A female cage fighter? I don’t think I’ve seen this trope/theme before.
I’m so glad tomorrow is the last day of the month. It hasn’t been a stellas reading month for me. Out of 20 books, 5 were dnfs. There were 2-3 favorites but I always wish for more.
What is your November favorite?
Mine is Drawn In by Barbara Elsborg. Believe it or not, all my favorites this month were angsty, sad, hurt my heart books. This one was the top of the pile.
My November favorite was easily Exaltation of Larks.
Don’t worry, Fabi. It will come back. Mine were missing for a while too.
Hmmmm….what was my favorite book this month. Let’s see. Uh… WOLFSONG!!!! Hand’s down, not even a question. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it. And this one Fabi did recommend. XOXOXO!
Oooh lookie a new novella in the Seven series *CLICK!* I loved that whole series, especially the most recent one, book 7. Goodie 🙂 *claps hands excitedly*
Tracing the Stars sounds intriguing. Bargain price. *CLICK!*
And I’ve already clicked and read JC and the Bijoux Jolis (must have come out early in Australia?) and really liked it! It works fine as a standalone. I’m going to try some of the other Kate Regnerys now.
My current read is a rec from this blog a couple of weeks ago. It’s not on kindle so I had to track down a secondhand copy which arrived yesterday. It’s a daaarrkkk HR. To Have And To Hold by Patricia Gaffney. I know some aspects of the book aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve somehow gotten sucked right into it. Oh, Sebastian, you are a bad, bad man. But so perfect for Rachel. Now I suppose I’ll have to track down more Patricia Gaffneys. And when am I gonna fit in Exaltation of Larks?? Yeah Tasha, where is Mr Time?
My favourite November read is Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas. Another rec from this blog yaaayyy! It’s a few years old, but not dated at all. A really great, well-written CR from a writer better known for her HRs (Marrying Winterborne, anyone?) Sugar Daddy is also number 1 in a series so I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of the sequels which I’ve ordered secondhand. Help, I’m being squished by an avalanche of great books!
Close 2nd and 3rd favs for Nov, would be To Have and To Hold Patricia Gaffney (see above) and JC and the Bijoux Jolies, a lovely, brand new CR about a male and female player who tame each other, along with a great little WW11 mystery to solve.
Jan, you say you have a HR that is dark? Keep talking…:-)
I’ve been in the mood for dark lately but I’m also finishing up an old HR which I’m loving. A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught. So a dark HR might just be exactly right for my mood.
Oh yeah Fabi. To Have and To Hold ain’t no Kingdom of Dreams. It has very mixed reviews, with some people absolutely 5 star luvvin it but others saying they can’t accept Sebastian’s behaviour. And yeah, his behaviour is pretty dodgy at first. But Gaffney’s writing is wonderful, and you get caught up with these characters and their vulnerabilities and their foolishness and their capacity for change. They are real, believable people. And I know after the angst there’s going to be a HEA (I haven’t finished it yet!). And they both sooooo deserve that. But it’s not easy to get hold of a copy of the book. I got mine through abebooks.com. Maybe your library?
To Have and to Hold needs to be mine…
Amazon has it on Kindle here. But it’s book 2. Did you read book 1?
What’s going on with the blog? I’m getting the pink background and it has such a glare it hurts my eyes! HELP! I want the old one back.
*stomps feet like bratty 2 yr old*
Leslie… what old one? It’s always been the pink background, but it’s more of a subdued pink, no?
What are you looking at the blog on (mobile or computer)?
Put the bottle down, Leslie… what are you talking about 😀
Stone cold sober here…what the Shrek is happening?? I seriously hate the way the blog is showing up ony phone. (I always access with my phone BTW…I don’t even own a PC).
No joke….it’s hurting my eyes. 🙁
Here, I’ll just take that bottle off Leslie’s hands… 😛
My favorite read of November…I’m torn between Held and The Turning Point. Held made me freak out at the end (which is SO much fun!) but The Turning Point beat the crap out of my heart. *sigh* Do I have to choose?
bev…I can’t do it. And definitely not right now after Chimera. I’m so frustrated after reading that one (which is male POV), and then add to that how m/m gets no real feels going for me (I’m sorry, but it just doesn’t!) and I would feel awful if I read one of your faves in that state of mind. What’s that Emi Lost and Found book? Oh yeah…Not Today But Someday. So that’s my answer right now. I’d follow that with a hug but…yeah. *snort*
Yay. It is pink again. I missed it.
Exaltation of Larks is next for me. 🙂 I’ve had it lined up since it released but I had to finish my current read commitments first.
I’m a little worried because I’m not really in the mood for a CR, but everyone says how great it is so maybe I should just jump in anyways.
Oh Fabi YOU WILL LOVE IT.
I thought of you SO much while reading Larks…
Fabi I wouldn’t call it a CR. I wouldn’t even call it a romance. I’d call it a saga about love and family and how they intertwine.
I’m not seeing the pink!
*grabs the bottle from Amy and takes a swig* Can’t wait to read The Turning Point! *takes another swig*
Bev, you like the pink?
R., What’s your email? I remember you recently posted it….I will email you screen shot so you don’t think I’m crazy. (I am actually crazy, but NOT in this instance.)
Leslie, I do see it’s the regular pink background blog design showing up on mobile right now… weird, as we have a white “mobile friendly” version that’s usually showing. I just sent an inquiry to find out why…
*takes a swig and slides bottle back to R*
I’ll keep the liquor flowing for ya. 😉
I give up.
LeslieM, yes. It’s how it always used to be.
My fave November read was Rush/Endless Possibility by Emma Scott.
Major swoonage. (Swoonage? Is that even a word?…You guys know what I mean)
Mine was white for a long while, not sure what Leslie’s was.
Leslie, I’ll still think you’re crazy but I have a whole bag of reasons to draw from 😉 robinhillwrites@gmail.com
*takes bottle from Amy* Thanks!
My background has always been purple. At least on my laptop.
Yes… my main blog design (and has been for years) is the subdued-ish pinky-purpley bi-colored one…
On a bigger screen (or laptop computer) it seems to work nicely, with the top menu bar and side menu bar easy to access…
The white “mobile-friendly” one is pretty basic.
I remember when we changed to “mobile friendly” white… I received a few complaints that they preferred the pink blog and wanted that one back.
I suppose it’s whatever you’ve gotten used to that is comfortable.
LOL!
Page still looks normal/usual for me (light pink). But I haven’t cracked a bottle yet today. Hey, it’s only midday here. Sun’s barely over the yardarm.
Fabi, I didn’t read book one first, though I might hunt it down and read it now, I think. But To Have and To Hold is fine as a standalone. Weird that it’s not available on amazon aus. Quite a few other Gaffney books on there, but not that one.
Maryse, Ive never accessed your site on anything other than my mobile. Years ago it was pink but for a long time its been white. Weird!!
I guess it is more of a pink on my mobile, but a purple-y pink.
I think Leslie was seeing the mobile version (white) on her phone but for some reason only the desktop version is coming up. I checked on my phone too. Whether I set it for mobile or desktop, they both come up with the desktop version.
*takes a swig and passes it along*
Favorite- well since it’s so fresh in my mind- Exaltation of Larks.
Hockey romance!! One-click. Also, After We Fall.
On my iPad it’s pink, and for the longest time on my phone it was white but it’s now back to pink on there as well.
I personally prefer the pink all the time. 😉
Remember “puff, puff, give”?
Well, here it’s “swig, swig, give”.
My turn! *glug, glug, glug*
Oops, sorry…Here Cheryl.
Thanks R. *takes another swig* So much better than Nyquil!!
Maryse and Jean both said (at separate times) that Larks made you think of me. Now I have to read it to see what y’all think of me. hahahaha
The good thing about pink version is that it doesn’t have that thing at bottom where it duplicates everyone’s comments.
I do remember when it switched from pink to white for mobile and I liked it…more streamlined. Oh well, I will adjust.
That’s what it is Leslie. You’re not on the mobile anymore for whatever reason. When I click on the site directly from Twitter, I get that mobile screen, but then I change it to desktop.
Oh no Fabi…the pressure!
puff, puff, give…… swig, swig, give…… why do I feel like I’m in a scene from Punk57?
My favorite for the month was Mischling. But I also really loved Dark Matter. Two completely different books but Mischling really made me FEEL the most. 😉 Currently reading Our Chemical Hearts and so far it really has that John Green feel!
End of November already and a super slow reading month for me. Best books were Kristen Callihan’s Managed and Sexy Lies and Rock and Roll by Sawyer Bennett….both 4 stars….but nothing standout 5 stars for me. I am enjoying Ginger Scott’s Hold my Breath though.
Lisa… glad to know this ’cause Ginger Scott seems pretty great! I went crazy for another one of hers.
My favorite for November was also An Exaltation of Larks. NO question.
If any of you are looking for an audio book with great narration (like I always am), I highly recommend Porn Star by Laurelin Paige and Sierra Simone narrated by CJ Bloom and Jacob Morgan. Two narrators so we get both the female and male voices. They are both great. Plus, it’s one of those sweet deals where if you have the book (or buy the Kindle book) you get the Audible version for $1.99.
Someone just asked for an updated “best audiobooks” list, so this will be added. Thank you Fabi!
Fabi–that’s me! I usually listen to at least one audiobook per week, sometimes more when I’m doing a lot around the house. And I’m ALWAYS looking for the ones with great narrators, so I will definitely check this out.
I was just looking at your ‘audible’ shelf on GR and it looks like we both like to listen to the PNR audiobooks. Well some of mine are PnR, but many of mine are UF since I don’t have to worry as much about a bad narrator ruining the romance/sex scenes. I got really behind on marking my ‘audiobook’ shelf the past 18 mos, so they aren’t all there now, but give me a few days and maybe you can get some suggestions from my shelf. I’m getting ready to go through yours–you have TONS of them! Squee!!
Is Porn Star narrated like the Fever series where the male and female each do ALL their own parts instead of just switching up each time the POV does??
Thank you Nay. I will definitely be going through your Audible Shelf.
I believe most of my PNR is really UF, I just don’t have that distinction in my shelves.
I “think” Porn Star changes narrator each time the POV changes. I’m not that far into it yet so I’m not 100% sure.
Speaking of audiobooks, I met a lady yesterday who narrates audiobooks. Her voice was BEAUTIFUL.
Heck, I’d listen to those audiobooks just to hear her voice again. 😉
What was her name, Amy?
Maryse–I was looking through my Amazon wishlist at next week’s releases and noticed one that’s up for preorder that I don’t see on your list.
It’s ‘Hit the Spot’ by J. Daniels, and it’s the second book in the Dirty Deeds series after ‘Four Letter Word’. For those who read FLW, this one is about the H/h’s best friends, Tori and Jamie. It’s coming out on 12/6, and I can’t wait to read it!
Thank you Nay!!!!
I’ll update the list. 😀
I can’t say who, Nay. It’s a healthcare setting. 🙁
Ooh. Lot’s to catch up on.
I finished:
Too Late. 4 stars for me.
Viper’s Kiss – I forget already – 3.5 stars? Just meh for me.
Aftermath – 4 stars too – maybe 4.5. I won’t forget this one.
Fangirl – 4.5 stars for this one too. Love her writing. Wanted MORE at the end, just like with all her books. They creep along and I get sucked in, and then BAM, it’s over. and I’m not ready for it to be over. So Glad I read Carry On BEFORE Fangirl though, or else that would have been spoiled spoiled spoiled.
Now what? OH! My favorite November read? It was A Court of Mist and Fury, by Sarah J. Maas. SQUEE!!!!! Loved it. Cannot wait for the next installment.
In a rut now. No clue what to read. I started the Viking one by Fanetti, not sure if I am feeling it.
Making Faces was my favorite Amy Harmon book – BY FAR! If you haven’t read it, read it. I recommended to a friend who doesn’t even read “our kind” of books and she loved it too. It’s just that good.
I like PINK – hated the white – and I have never seen purple???? I see a muted pink on the bottom and a deeper shade on top 1/4. It’s PUHRDEE – my hubby always knows I am “talking to those girls again” when he sees the pink screen.
The thing that is new for me is that the comments all repeat AFTER the comments section, but in reverse order. So I scroll down and miss the end and have to come back, and then miss it again…. Maryse is messing with me.
LOL MichelleS I don’t mean to!!
*snort*
It might be a “plugin update” issue, so I’ll send this comment thing over, and see what can be fixed. 😀
Creepy MichelleS! I just checked my email while I was refreshing the image of the Making Faces cover on my newsletter when I saw your post. Guess it’s fate and I’ll have to read it for sure!
It looks as if the Judith McNaught ebooks aren’t available in Australia. I can’t see them anywhere on kindle, and when I checked apple iBooks I got a message saying they’re not currently available in Australia. *sad face* Luckily *happy face* I own most of them as paperbacks from when they first came out (yes, I’m that old) but there were a couple I wanted on kindle and it seems I can’t get them. Seems a little unfair to we aussies…….. 🙁
Have any of you other aussies out there had any luck with this?
Maryse–do you need more ideas for best audiobooks? If you do, I have suggestions by story, series, and narrator. Not a ton, but enough to help someone along. During the 18 months before my surgery in April, I was too sick to feel like reading, so I listened to a lot of audiobooks instead.
And I’d love to see this list when you’re done!
Nay!! I would LOVE one. I’m planning a part two of this list and should have it up this week along with the Marmy list.
Let me know of the ones you love (and why if you can include that) and I’ll make it a feature. 😀
Oh yay! The Marmy list too! I’ve been watching for that oneI can’t wait for both of those!
I’ll post my favorite audiobook list either tonight or tomorrow morning,.and I’ll definitely include why. I’ve spent hours searching for good audiobooks with great narrators, and it will be SO nice to have a list for people like me to reference!
No clue what my fave for November was…I didn’t read much… Im still trying to come up with my top five overall forever books…and planning ahead for the my tops for 2016 year end list as I will be on vacation over Christmas/NewYears….
Holy Moses how many do we have to narrow it down to for the year? Top 20? OK I can do that!
YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREY WON!!!!!!
GREY WON NANOWRIMO!!!!!!!!!!!!
AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
What really? OMG!!!! Congrats! I didn’t even know it was over yet!
You finished Grey!!!! Congratulations!!
Wow you wrote a lot of words in your last few days…go girl. I have stuck my NaNo winners certificate on my computer to spur me on for the next book that has wriggled its way into my head already.
Grey, a huge congrats. You are da boss!
Congrats to you too Lisa! You guys are both pine cones and candy canes… <3
Maryse, I just saw your Wednesday updates and have to add that I just finished reading A Kingdom of Dreams. I loved it so hard!!! Best heroine of the year for me.
Lisa, you finished this year too? Congrats! You ladies are amazing.
Lisa & Grey congrats to both of you on winning nanowrimo. Huge accomplishment.
Congratulations Lisa!!!!!
:D!!!!!
You guys are AWESOME!
Gah! R! Wolfsong. That book is everywhere lately. Maybe it will nudge Maryse into giving it another shot. 🙂
I know! I’m so excited about S. Ann Cole’s review I’m tapping my fingers waiting for her to email me back but it’s almost 1am in Barbados :-/
Congrats Grey & Lisa!! Don’t forget about us when you are all rich and famous!! 😉
*blush* thanks guys.. Geez Maryse haha!
Lisa, yep that’s the way I normally write, I do best under pressure. what is this thing called sleep? LOL! I’m not done with the story yet. But, at least, I hit my 50k goal and can take a little break now. My daughter is a lead ballerina in the Nutcracker this weekend, so we’ve been crazy busy with extra rehearsals and such. But…please remind me NEVER to do this again LOL!
Anyway, I’m ready bev… Our glorified cliff notes please?
I am also ready for the ultimate grey marmy haha! (Those are the dark ones, I want ones that will give me pretzel tummy and stomp on my heart LOL – I know, I’m not asking for much, right?!?) *sigh* its good to be back! I’ve missed all of you. *squeezes for all*
OMG!!!! CONGRATS GREY AND LISA!!!!
What an accomplishment…you guys are amazing!!! 😀
WOLFSONG is still on my top 5 reads for 2026! Maybe time for a re-read???
2026??? Ha!
Grey, Amy & MichelleS give the best recaps. I always enjoy them.
R. Did you ever look through last year’s best of lists? They are fun, even if they make tbr piles explode, plus you can see that there are actually 2 different Michelles. 😉
I have yet to read past two chapters of last week’s FLT, totally me not the book. Very all over the place right now. That was Orphan X. Not sure what I’m reading next. Was thinking of a re-read of the McNaught up there, though that is the one with the horse if I remember correctly. Man, it must be a good ten years since I’ve done a re-read of her books. Probably longer.
FLT
“I closed my eyes as the music pounded through my body.” ~ A Veil of Vines by Tillie Cole
bev…I beg to differ because your recaps are hilarious!!
Congrats Grey and Lisa!
Bev–I was just looking at those lists because I’m making my audiobook list to send to Maryse and I had to laugh that Fabi had a ‘Top 9 for 2015’, but then I noticed that not everyone just did the basic ‘top 10’.
So I see that most of you have made these lists, and I have a couple of questions–do you put the links on there or does Maryse do that??
And Maryse (or anyone who wants to answer)–do I send you the list through the ‘contact’ page? Or somewhere else?
I had hoped to have it finished this morning, and I’m close, but it’s taking a lot longer than I imagined!
Has anyone listened to Wolfsong on audio? I heard back from S. Ann last night and she said the “narrator was stellar” and she’d heard he was a first timer. She said he “MADE” the audio book.
I think that one may have to be my first! Maybe I should listen to that on my CoHo road trip next weekend! How does that work if you read books on a kindle app on your phone? can I put it through the speakers like when I play my music?
FLT I’m going with ch. 1 instead of the prologue: “I can tell within a glance if someone hates me.” The Hard Count, Ginger Scott.
bev, no I haven’t I’ll look for them. I knew about the 2 Michelles though!
OMG it’s Thursday already?!
FLT:
“I didn’t throw the pie.”
After We Fall by Melanie Harlow
I only remember because yesterday was #1linewed on Twitter LOL.
And the top books for the year are just books you READ this year, not necessarily books that came out this year, right?
That’s the way I understand it, R. I’ve seen other people with lists say they are including books they read this year, even if they were published in a different year.
I’m reading yet another book that’s almost 600 pages long. I’d say this year, most of the books I’ve read have been uber-long. This one’s a psych thriller that caught my eye a few months back so I one-clicked it, but it’s not blowing me away…
*sigh*
But I’ve read too much of it to stop now.
FLT
“The doorbell rang at three in the morning.” An Exaltation of Larks by Suanne Laqueur <— :-O Look what I'm reading.
R. do you connect your phone to your car for music? If so, then all you do is play the Audible file instead of the music list and you'll hear it through your speakers. You can't listen to music and the book at the same time though.
MichelleS I think my first "reread" of Wolfsong is going to be in audio narration. I've seen several reviews saying that the narrator is really good. There is simply no doubt in my mind this is a re-read book. I really don't have many of those!
Nay, just to clarify a question from earlier. Porn Star narrators are speaking true to gender, not only at changing chapter POVs. I can't believe how good this book is. I honestly bought it on a lark thinking it would languish in my tbr forever.
This year I'm going to have favorite of each month as well as a favorite overall list. R. I believe we use books we read this year as opposed to books we read that were published this year for our lists.
Nay, I think you can email your list to Maryse. She'll also get it if you post it on a thread.
Good morning everyone!!!
Nay you can email it to me 😀
*squeeeee* YAY FABI!!!!
I can’t wait to hear what you think!
Thanks Fabi! I can’t listen to music and think at the same time, so I’m good there!
FLT –
“You know those people lady luck always seems to be kissing on the cheek?”
Managed – by Kristen Callihan
Everything, Everything was removed from my order from the Black Friday bookoutlet.com sale :-/ I’m kind of bummed.
It’s ok Maryse, just read the end and put the book down.
So, are you posting are favorites again this year?
Absolutely bev!!
Fun. I love reading best of list. 🙂
Thanks guys!! And you ARE totally doing Nano again next year Grey.
But seriously, I have RSI in my CMC joints (Grey and Amy will know what I’m talking about) from typing so much every day.
First Line Friday (because it is Friday is some parts of the world!):
‘Holy Shitballs! That slide is motherf@#$king tall’
Scoring Her: A Billionaire Bad Boys Novella
Said as only Cassie the loud potty mouth can!!
o
Oh and I’m doing my top books for 2016 list for you Maryse.
I made a NY resolution to actually review everything I read this year and *shocker* but I stuck to it so the list is practically done already.
I haven’t made a spreadsheet like I know some of you like to do….or made a hundred different genre files, but I have starred and reviewed….
FLT
““Stupid freakin’ barn,” she muttered.” – The Legend of Bloodstone by EB Brown.
It’s a time travel romance – I needed some KM Moning feel. And I get to use my Sam Cormick character for the hot native she encounters!
Let me know how that one turns out Michelle. Time travel is my favorite type of historical romance.
That one sounds interesting MichelleS. The only time travel one I have ever read is Time Travelers Wife, which I re-read because I love Henry so much.
Thanks, Maryse! I’m reading over it and then I’ll email it to you.
What’s everyone reading this weekend?
I started one book, but it’s not grabbing me (it’s me, not the book), and I’m trying to finish Dragonfly in Amber before I watch the season finale of Outlander that I have on tape, but I NEED a really, really good book to read this weekend.
I’m in the mood for a forbidden romance, but I think I’ve read all the good ones! Anyone know of any new ones that are really good (and not YA)?
I’m finishing The Hard Count, probably today, then starting From Sand and Ash. Going in totally blind on that one!
Ooh that sounds good, R! I don’t know why, but I’ve never read an A. Harmon book. I have several on my Kindle but just haven’t taken the plunge. But I’m still in the mood for a forbidden romance this weekend–IF I can find one!
Amy, and whoever else has read Big Little Lies, have you seen this?! https://www.ew.com/article/2016/12/01/big-little-lies-trailer-hbo
Way better than the 1st trailer, I’m somehow going to watch this Feb. 19th even though I don’t have HBO!
Nay, you could knock out 2 birds with 1 stone with A Different Blue. It’s Amy Harmon AND forbidden.
Yeah, I thought about that, but I was hoping for something a little more…how do I say this without sounding shallow…
..
….
…..hot!
You don’t sound shallow. Naughty yes. Dirty probably. But not shallow.
Damnit R. I just spit water all over myself. hahahaha
Okay, good! I’ll take dirty and naughty!
Surely someone has a recommendation for a (hot) forbidden romance? I checked out Maryse’s student teacher list, and I’ve got Losing It, which she loved, so unless I hear of something else, I guess I’ll try that. I don’t *think* I’ve read it yet.
I’ve read two different ones that were about coaches and athletes, and I really liked both of those, but I can’t find any that are similar that sound good. I did find one, but then I saw that reviewers were complaining about a threesome in it, and that’s just not for me..
Nay, Ive got hot, forbidden recs!!!
Dark Notes by Pam Godwin
My Time in the Affair by Stylo Fantome
Thanks, Leslie! I have Dark Notes. I read My Time in the Affair and loved it! I’m giving Dark Notes a try–thank you!!
Tasha…I was excited about that mini series until I saw who was in it. 😕 I like Shailene Woodley and Laura Dern but I really don’t like Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, so much so that I can’t watch anything with them in it (with the exception of The Others).
I’ll wait for the verdict from y’all first and then *maybe* I’ll give it a shot. 😉
