Happy Halloween everybody! Did you all have an amazing Halloween weekend? Parties? Costumes? Costume mishaps? LOL!! What are your plans for tonight? Trick or treating with your children, or will you be handing out the goodies for the cuties? I’m betting a bit of both for many, and I’m hoping to hear some funny (or cute) Halloween tidbits soon.
Halloween-Eve proved to be a crazy release day, with three HIGHLY anticipated books that were released and are already skyrocketing up the best sellers of Amazon right now. But today is proving to be loaded in book-treats too! So without further ado… these just went live (and yes, I’m repeating a few from yesterday’s list, but since some of them went love only late, I figured a repost was in order, since they are not to be missed!) 😀
JUST WENT LIVE!
- Mr. President by Katy Evans <— LATEST BY KATY EVANS IS LIVE ALERT!!!! Stolen moments with a Presidential candidate. I’m hearing steamy and lots of *oomph* and I don’t doubt it considering our big love for her alphas! “I met the president’s son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I’d never met a guy like him. He promised me that he’d never run for president. I promised that if he did, I’d be by his side. Three terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton’s campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I’ve ever experienced…“
- Dirty (Raw Family Book 2) by Belle Aurora <— LONG AWAITED SEQUEL to “RAW“ (<— STALKER ALERT!!! So many of us loved, and had that gut-clenching ending!!!) Remember that one? (my review)
Joanna: Can this be read as a standalone?
Maryse: It’s recommended to read RAW first. And you’ll want to.
Ela: OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIRTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I WANT TWITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE HAS TO COME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maryse: I hear he’s in there… I *think* (I’m trying to avoid reviews ’cause I’m scared of spoilers)
MichelleF: Dirty. How can you go wrong with that title? I loved Raw, even though I felt completely gutted. Looking forward to getting Dirty. 😀
- Say You Want Me by Corinne Michaels <— LIVE!!! ONE NIGHT STAND + A VISIT WITH A DOCTOR LEAVES THEM MORE CONNECTED THAN THEY THOUGHT… (and it’s a huge hit already, on Amazon!!) “…he left me in the middle of the night so I could see myself out. I vow to return to Philadelphia and forget him. It proves easier said than done. When the doctor informs me I’m the winner of door prize number two…“
- Wicked Little Words by Stevie J. Cole & BT Urruela <— PSYCH-THRILLER JUST WENT LIVE! IT. SOUNDS. GOOOOOOD and PERFECT for today!! 😀 HE’S A FAMOUS AUTHOR and he’s looking for a female co-author for his next book… but he has a secret (<— eeeeeep!!!) “I know a secret: the victims in my books—they’re real and have all died on my table. And maybe that’s why the last book had such awful reviews. Murder is, after all, a dirty little thing. Some can stomach it. Others can’t. My answer to those reviews: find a woman to co-author with. To be the next pathetic character in my book. Pity she’s so pretty…“
- The True Story of Atticus and Hazel by Fisher Amelie <— LIVE!!! THEY HAVE DANGEROUSLY OVERWHELMING CHEMISTRY and they’re about to combust (and I’m not sure if it’s in that “good way”) 😉 !!!
Marion: Maryse you should totally read this one!
Maryse: It sounds EXACTLY for me!
- Black and White Flowers (The Real SEAL Series Book 1) by Rachel Robinson <— LIVE!! BROKEN NAVY SEAL & AN AUTHOR ALERT! Ooooh yeah! I LOVE Rachel Robinson, and her latest just went live EARLY!! She’s an author, and he’s a military hero, struggling with his own personal battle… “Navy SEAL Smith Eppington is fighting the war of his lifetime. One that isn’t fought with weapons and highly sought intelligence. It’s a battle to remember his past. The accident that scarred seventy five percent of his body, and stole the life of his best friend also seized parts and pieces of his memory. When an author asks to interview him for a fiction novel, he’s ready to pour his heart out no matter the cost. The friendship that blossoms between Smith and Carina is something extraordinary...”
- Plowed by Kristen Luciani & Rebecca Manuel <— LIVE!! ROCK STAR ALERT! He’s on a downward spiral… “His life is a toxic existence on a permanent loop, like a bad 80s movie. Until… Sara Russell, the junior publicist hired to salvage his tarnished image, plows into him…“
- The Devil Forgotten (The Devil’s Eyes Book 7) by Jennifer Loren <— LIVE!! LATEST IN THE DEVIL’S EYES SERIES ALERT! This series was popular back in the early indie days, and it’s been a long time since she’s released a book in it. But here it is. Surprise!! 😀 (here’s the series reading order to refresh your memory).
Heather: I don’t know if you’ve crossed paths with this book…mafia bad boy series. Angsty, hot, and great characters along with an all consuming story that will keep you up late into the night…
- F*cking Awkward Holidays by Taryn Plend, A.D. Justice, Ahren Sanders, Amanda Maxlyn, Brooke Page, Carey Heywood, Christine Manzari, Christine Zolendz, Dina Littner, Eliana S. Peters <— FESTIVE ROMCOM ANTHOLOGY JUST WENT LIVE and it sounds hilariously!! 😉 “…the holidays can be magical, but sometimes, they’re also just f*cking awkward.” 25 authors contributed stories to this anthology!!
- The Beast (Black Dagger Brotherhood) by J.R. Ward <— BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD ALERT! The latest book in the series (Rhage!!) is on sale today!!!! *squeeeeeee!!!!* (okay so yeah it’s not a “new release” but how could I resist this treat?)
Sharon: Finished The Beast yesterday and it did not disappoint in the least. So many twists and turns and OMG moments. Each side story held my attention too.
Grey: …last ten percent of The Beast which I have been savoring because I just… I don’t want to finish ….
- Hope Town Books 1-3 by Harper Sloan <— HARPER SLOAN SUPER-BARGAIN BUNDLE ALERT!! “For the first time ever, the Hope Town books are being bundled! Join us for the first three books in the series! Complete with all new bonus content!”

Looks like November is shaping up to be an awesome book month. Thank you Maryse!
I’m pretty excited because I’m having a hard time picking a single favorite from October.
What about you guys? What was your October favorite?
Mine will be Hausfrau. 😉 I dunno if that counts since it was released last year. LOL!
It most certainly counts! We’re always finding oldies but goodies around here. I’m living vicariously through you with that one. 😉
I think I’m going to pick Friendly Fire by Cari Z. for my Oct. fav. It was a treat to read. Here are my ramblings if anyone is interested: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1787197203
I’m going with Tell the Truth Shame the Devil. Right book at the right time and just so good.
Maryse! Judith McNaught’s back list is going digital. All those yummy historical romances. You have to feature.
OH this is good news indeed bev!!! I absolutely will. Is it already done, or they’re coming?
I just can’t catch up! I’m so excited about Dirty though……just have to refresh my memory!
Favorite book of October…..Pull Me Close!
Just started All In (Emma Scott)……and already need a box of tissues! It’s so good though!
I’m lazy, so I’m copy and pasting my post from the other thread…
Happy Anniversary R!!
Don’t we have a Halloween birthday here too?
Ok, so, *deep breath* in just over 9 hours, Nano will begin, and life as I know it, will end for the next month LOL, So if I disappear, you all know why! I am not one of those people who can just spew out 50k words lickety split, it is *work* for me. On that note… hi, bye, I will miss you all, haha! Someone better take good notes for me!
Ok, sorry about that… um, I only read like 3 or 4 books this month and they were all great. *shrug*
I am in the process of naming characters… wanna help? LOL!
Awesome list as always
Not sure why the rest of my message did not post so I am sending what didn’t post….My fav October read was actually a first for me from this author “A Love Letter to Whiskey” Kandi Steiner and I loved it so much I immediately bought and read another book from her called “Weightless” both forever faves and 5 star reads!
Jenn, been hearing great things about A Love Letter to Whiskey!
Hey is $7.99 a “sale price” for The Beast?
It is happening now.
It seems to be. I think it was over $10… maybe even close to $15 upon release?
Oh okay…….I was just wondering. Even though I am still behind (from Book #10 Lover Reborn to the most recent). I really need to catch up on that series!
We’ll miss you Grey but we’re so happy for you, too!!!! 😀
It’s probably the change for the paper back version of the Beast.
How cool are these?
https://bookriot.com/2016/10/31/17-book-inspired-pumpkins/
My favorite October read was also “A Love Letter to Whiskey” by Kandi Steiner. I think it’ll also end of being one of my top 5 for 2016. Major tummy-twisting angst!
Love the pumpkins, Bev!!
Nay. I AM ON IT!!!!!!! I’ve been hearing that same thing over and over. MINE!!!!!!!
I’m not quite sure how to pick a book for October. I read three freaking fantastic ones: All In, An Exaltation of Larks, and Hausfrau. I could argue Hausfrau came out last year (like Maryse said) to narrow it down, but then Larks technically doesn’t come out until November, so that leaves All In, but that was part of a duet and I’d want to consider them both as one whole. This is too much stress.
Laurelin Page’s First and Last books price dropped to 2.99! I think they were 9.99
Maryse, I’m just getting familiar with them, but I’m thinking this may qualify as a Marmy book? Let us know what you think!
I’ve been trying to figure out what to read next ALLLL day–I swear I’ve started 10 different books and stopped after around page 10, but now that I’ve seen this list and I’ve read this blurb:
‘…offers one of the most memorable love triangles in fiction since Twilight—perfect for fans of New Adult fiction like Jamie McGuire, Abbi Glines, and Tamarra Webber.’
I am SO in to read ‘I See You’ by Molly McAdams!
I don’t think pub dates should matter for best of month or year. We’d be missing out.
Don’t remind me Grey! I have only named two characters and my Outline is TOTALLY incomplete. I’ll basically be adding to it as the month progresses. EEEP
My rewards, though, if I get super ahead and finish the book? The new Guild Hunter series book, Archangel’s Heart by Nalini Singh and The Bandit by BB Reid. That’s incentive, right?
Best book of the month? The Bound by KA Linde. That gave me such an emotional gut punch throughout that it just hands down wins. Mind you, this is against the awesome Punk 57 which I adored and Bloodlines, which was awesome. The Bound just smacked me and left me totally unable to function.
The best of the month was the best book you read this month. Pub dates don’t matter at all.
I’m almost done with A Court of Thorns and Roses. OMG. Thank you, all, for talking me into it. Love it!!! Going right into book two. I hope this isn’t like Throne of Glass where I get attached to one guy & then she moves on!!! Tamlin & Rhysand!!! Argh. Tell me she isn’t that fickle.
So now it’s a tie for best book of the month! Kingmaker book one & Court of Thorns & Roses. Who knew? After such a horrible start!
I so want to try both of those series, MichelleS. But Throne of Glass is or is going to be a long series, right?
Tessa, what are the names?
Bev – Throne of Glass is at 5 books. Need at least one more to wrap it up. No idea what she has planned, but it’s SO worth it. Amazing characters.
Taimisa Needles is the main character. Then some guy who isn’t in long. I kept calling him guy in my head, so his name is… Guye!
That worked out, love it.
I just saw a little Harry Potter. I love that he is still that relevant.
MichelleS, I do want to read her books. Plus I think my library has her books, so score.
Hey all! I have been MIA for a while and miss reading all these posts and comments! Sadly, I believe I didn’t even finish a book for October. October is the absolute busiest month of the year for me and it doesn’t much slow down from here until January really. 🙁 I’m having major book withdrawals. There are at least 10 of them screaming at me to read them right now and I just have this feeling they’ll all be amazing. I need a binge week, badly!! 15 min here and there does not cut it. Anyway…enough of my whining…Sarah J. Maas!! So happy you’re loving A Court of Thorns and Roses Michelle S. That’s the first book of hers that I read and loved it. Then I read 4 out of her Throne of Glass series, still waiting for time to catch up. But it easily became one of my favorite series of all time. And then when I read book 2 in the ACOMAF series, woah!! You’ll love it even more than the first. No fickleness, much more action and Feyre really coming into her own.
Wicked Little Words is my Halloween read this year – been hanging out for that book for a while now! Only managed 3 chapters after the Halloween carnage yesterday lol. But so far I AM HOOKED. Can’t wait to see where this is going to go!!
My fav for October is a tie: Beautiful by Christina Lauren and Truly by Ruthie Knox. Beautiful is a new shiny release, the final book in a great, sexy CR series. Truly is a couple of years old but a great CR I really liked. Set in New York. Sequel coming out in 2017 Yaaay.
bev, good news about Judith McNaught’s backlist finally going digital. Some of the sweetest HRs ever.
Jan, makes me want to do re-reads.
Good reads best of is making my head hurt, lol. So many books I have in my tbr that I have not read yet. Maybe that’s what should make up my tbr.
Yeah I know what you mean bev
Ok… FIRST I have a question since I’m still new to this whole world of actually commenting instead of lurking…I see all of these quotes about new releases and such in each of the blog posts in italics. Is there a super duper secret message board on here that I don’t know about (because a message board would be FABULOUS)? Or are these “quotes” from commens and emails? I want to make sure I’m not missing anything!
SECOND has anyone else started Mr. President yet? I’m about 20% in and find myself not really connecting to either the H or h and that’s never been an issue with her previous books. I feel apathetic towards it. Like “Meh”. Should I keep going? Is it just a slow starter? I hate to not finish a book.
THIRD My October faves… I read about 5-6 books a week so I just chose one from each week. Some are not October releases but I readread them in October. I read a lot of NA and YA this month I noticed. Faves in no particular order: Four Letter Word J. Daniels, The Wedding Belles series Lauren Layne, The Royals Trilogy Erin Watt, Lessons in Gravity Megan Westfield, Royally Screwed Emma Chase.
There is a forum. Up at the menu under Discuss, I believe. I’ve been on only a couple times.
The quotes are, I believe, mostly from the comments. Also, Facebook, I think.
Maryse will pull out old comments which might be why you don’t always recognize them. There will be times I’m reading them and thinking to myself, what were we talking about and how did we start that conversation?
Oh, and also we have a tendency to jump post. Either continue a conversation in a different post or carry on different conversations in different posts. I confuse myself often.
Haha thanks Bev! I was so confused as to where all this discussion was happening. I love discussing anything lol. I suspected it was a conglomeration of sources of information. I’m still feeling my way through this page and use mainly mobile. I hate “mobile” anything because I always feel like I’m missing something.
Alabama Amy, I believe Bev is correct. I think the quotes are from these comments but Maryse is sneaky (hee hee) and pulls old quotes (which I love, however I giggle when I see one from me and I’m like “wow! I said that? Hmmm”). I’m not on FB or Twitter so not sure how much she gets from there. But we do jump around posts a bit, so that might be where you feel you are missing something. Incidentally….a lot of us are also very active on Goodreads. (This is me if you would like to “friend” me. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/9391205-leslie)
I haven’t read Mr President but heard it was cliffy. 🙁
I’m happy that you liked Four Letter Word & Royally Screwed as those are on my TBR.
Leslie M. OHHHHH NOOOOO! You just saved Mr. President for me. I had no idea it was a cliffhanger. I’m stopping right now. Maybe when I pick it back up I will be in a different reading mind and will be able to focus and connect better to the story. I HATE/DESPISE/LOATHE/ABHOR cliffhangers. I have to wait until the entire series is out before I can read it. I have had several series that I ended up not finishing because of cliffhangers. It took me awhile to figure out why I couldn’t finish a cliffy series. I FINALLY figured it out. A good cliffhanger works because the reader is completely invested in the outcome of the characters. The reader is 100% IN THE MIND of the character. When the cliffhanger drops you feel devastated. Your adrenaline is flowing. Your brain is racing saying “wait that can’t be it!”. It’s a GLORIOUS feeling. But then you wait. And wait. And wait. And along the way you read all these other books and love all these other characters. You lose that visceral connection to the characters in the book with the cliffhanger. When the book finally comes out, you just don’t care as much. I’ve tried re-reading the first book before but you don’t get that same reaction at the end no matter how well it’s written. You know what’s coming and you know what you’ll feel so it’s not as strong. That makes the sequel less exciting and enjoyable because the connection isn’t as strong on a re-read with a cliffy. For example, I’ve read The Opportunist and loved it despite my typical low-angst preference. The characters were horrid and fabulous. I didn’t realize it was a cliffy at first glance. I bought the second book because I intended to read it but I just haven’t been able to connect back to the characters. Do any other readers struggle with this or am I nuts? How do you reconnect to a book that drops a cliffhanger at the emotional peak of a story? HELP I would love to finish some of my series that I’ve started but need some encouragement!
And Leslie M, I am in Goodreads but haven’t really been on in the last 3 or so years so my profile is weak lol. Let me update and I will start friending people. Is there a group to join that you would recommend?
I need to try and remember my Goodreads password… *sigh* LOL!
Alabama Amy, I feel EXACT same way with cliffhangers, books in a series etc. If I don’t read the books in succession, it pretty much ruins it for me. I lose interest or just plain forget what happened. I have dumped a lot of series because of this. However, if you have some series you want to finish but not sure how to get back into…maybe try to buddy read to muster up some enthusiasm? Or see if someone can give you a good recap of first book? Something as intense as The Opportunist is a tough one. I read those all together.
There’s several Goodreads groups I participate in. A group for Maryse’s Blog that Grey created, Low Angst Love, Some Like it Hot, Turning Pages at Midnight, 50 Shades support group, etc. Check it out. The
Alabama Amy I wasn’t rapt in Mr President (esp the ch). My review is on Goodreads (Jan130).
Yes!! Maryse! I was just thinking the other day of a huge benefit of having your ratings on there but now of course I can’t remember what it was! Maybe it was just to see which books you’ve read, rated or not?
Either way, it would be so fun 😀
You don’t remember your password? lol ! You probably have a thousand pending friend requests.
I know of at least one! 😀
