One of my favorite series of the year (and pretty much one of my favorites of all time). This one took so many of us by storm and put us all in a reading frenzy. A seriously tortured soul finding his way from the dark to the light, and a gentle soul struggling to meet him in the middle. Check out my book review of book #1 to get an idea of what it’s about – this is not your typical contemporary romance. Sure… it’s romance, but with a twist. A HARD twist 😉 :
My friend Jackie said it best, and I just had to quote her:
“Maryse urged me to look past the ‘kink’ and read away. It was sooo good. I loved both main characters – cringed in a few places – yes , but did manage to ‘see’ Christian despite his needs. Read it girls – it’s a gut churning, heart wrenching tale that I defy you not to get lost in.”
P.S. Here are all my reviews (though if by crazy chance you haven’t read these yet, don’t read my reviews past book 1 to avoid spoilers):
- Book Review – Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James – 5 stars
- Book Review – Fifty Shades Darker by E. L. James – 5 stars
- Book Review – Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James – 4 stars
About book #1:
The unworldly, innocent Ana is shocked to realize she wants this man, and when he warns her to keep her distance it only makes her more desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her too – but on his own terms.
Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving adoptive family – Grey is man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a passionate, physical and daring affair, Ana learns more about her own dark desires, as well as the Christian Grey hidden away from public scrutiny.
The reading ORDER:
- Fifty Shades of Grey: Book One of the Fifty Shades Trilogy
- Fifty Shades Darker: Book Two of the Fifty Shades Trilogy
- Fifty Shades Freed: Book Three of the Fifty Shades Trilogy
- and then… from HIS POV!!
- Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian
- Darker: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian (Fifty Shades as Told by Christian Book 2)
- Freed: Fifty Shades Freed as Told by Christian (Fifty Shades as Told by Christian Book 3)
I just have to get that day off work – 19th Jan 2012. That’s one book that just won’t wait for the weekend! xxx
Me either!! The minute I can (that very same day) I will be reading non-stop. I’m sure of it.
We will all be zombies with book in hand. Can’t wait. The handcuffs are intriguing.
Just over a month to go…can’t wait!!! Hope it comes out over here at the same time as where you are….;0) Nx
Wow Maryse! Another excellent recommendation on the 50 Shades series. I usually stick to urban paranormal / paranormal romance but THIS was fantastic! I laughed, cried, questioned my own morals and beliefs, and was… well let’s just say that Ana and Christian are HOT together. I’m so glad I read your blog.
19 January 2012 can’t arrive fast enough!!

I am SO hooked!! I have 200 pages left to go of the second book. (i started it 24 hours ago) I am sleep deprived and loving every minute of it! I am so disappointed that the final book is not available on iTunes yet 🙁 I can get it using Kindle but I enjoy iBooks better than the kindle app.
I know how you feel Kate.

I was a zombie.
Hi…I just finished the fifty trilogy..and Im in love!!!! I can not get it out of my head…do you know of any other books that would be similar to these? I read them in 2.5 days!!

Do you know when the third fifty shades book will be available on iTunes? My friend is unsure how to get the third book onto her iPad.
Becky…
I believe it is currently only available on Kindle (& Nook). Have her download the free Kindle app for ipad, and she can read it via that e-reader. 🙂
So what is the order to read the books?
La’Shay: Just scroll up a bit, you’ll see the reading order right here on this very page.
I was able to get all 3 on my Nook color, not sure about ipad. I am so glad to have gotten them….HOTT!!!!! SUSPENSFUL = ) i WANT A MR.GREY
Vanessa! That’s great. This series looks like it’s going to be HUGE now, so it would make sense that it would be available everywhere.
I’m still confused. Isn’t Fifty Shades of Grey the last book released? It is on the list as the first book to read? Is the buzz about the final book or the Trilogy? What am I ordering and what order am I reading them in?
Hi Karen!
The reading order is exactly as listed right here. Fifty Shades of Grey is the first book. Just follow this guide and you’ll get the story as it is told in the correct order.
I hope that helps!
