<— THIS IS A HUUUUUUUGE HIT on Netflix right now, but was also a huge hit within our romance reading community! And since these books are pretty much climbing the Amazon charts as we speak (in fact, the first book is ranking at #2 on all of Amazon Kindle as I post this), I thought I’d post the reading order and include the HUGE LOVE for it from our fellow readers.
Jan: Wow. The Duke and I (Bridgerton) is currently #1 in amazon kindle Australia store. Book 2 is at number 4, and three of the other books are up there in the rankings too. It’s been a popular series of books ever since it came out, but the netflix series is obviously bringing it to a whole new group of readers. Yay for historical romance!
Harper: Bridgertons is out (Netflix)! I watch today and loved it!
Tasha J: I got sucked into Bridgertonlast night and watched 5 episodes. Might as well finish tonight. I knew this would happen!
Jan: I’ve watched the first two episodes of Bridgerton and really liking it. The talk on GR is that the whole series is really good (according to those who’ve already binged the lot LOL). The two main actors are HOT! (Simon and Anthony). It’s surprisingly saucy too. Don’t watch it with your kids, ladies!
I just reread the first Bridgerton book, The Duke and I, to get in the zone. It seems like the series is mainly based around the first book. I hope Netflix do more series for the other books.
Terry: Romancing Mr. Bridgerton fits the bill for unrequited love. He isn’t super mean to her but she over hears him say something bad about her and it is wrenching. I highly recommend it! New to your site and I love it!
Rae: loving the books. I just hope the publishers don’t hike the price of them. Binge watched the series over Christma. Loved it.
Jovana: I’m obsessed. I bought the whole series in paperback for myself and 4 copies of the first book to force others to read it with me.
About book #1
Can there be any greater challenge to London’s Ambitious Mamas than an unmarried duke?—Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers, April 1813
By all accounts, Simon Basset is on the verge of proposing to his best friend’s sister—the lovely and almost-on-the-shelf—Daphne Bridgerton. But the two of them know the truth—it’s all an elaborate ruse to keep Simon free from marriage-minded society mothers. And as for Daphne, surely she will attract some worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable.
But as Daphne waltzes across ballroom after ballroom with Simon, it’s hard to remember that their courtship is a sham. Maybe it’s his devilish smile, certainly it’s the way his eyes seem to burn every time he looks at her . . . but somehow Daphne is falling for the dashing duke . . . for real! And now she must do the impossible and convince the handsome rogue that their clever little scheme deserves a slight alteration, and that nothing makes quite as much sense as falling in love.
