VAIN
I’m loving this one guys!! So far, an all-around beautiful story with a wonderful attention to detail. I’m at 50% and it’s progressing just perfectly for me. Not too fast and tugs at my heart (with gentle tenderness and also in potential love).
I just had to let you guys know, I think this one is worth reading together. I’m certain I’m still going to love it as much if not more by the end.
I’m scared I’m gonna cry, though. I can’t wait to get home from work to finish it. You guys were right with this recommendation! Heartfelt and refreshing.
Cassie: I was just wondering if you’ve read Vain by Fisher Amelie? If you haven’t I must insist you do! Move it to the top of your TBR list girl! All I can say is its a life changer! I just finished it a few minutes ago and you popped right into my head, it’s not our typical read but oh my… I’m still processing it all. I know you loved Sempre, this one is different but has a similar unique dark feel but at the same time it grabs your heart and warms the soul. I only hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Oh and Ian…. swoon 🙂
Shanda: I don’t know if this has been recommended to you or not. “Vain” by Fisher Amelie. I finished it last night. It is kind of beyond words……… It is so much more than what the cover shows and far more than the description leads you to believe that it is. For me, it was amazingly breathtaking, inspiring, sweet, meaningful and heart breaking. It starts a little slow but I can now see why because it is preparing you for what is to come. There were times I was holding my breath not even realizing it and other times laughing out loud and times when I had to set it down and walk away…….
Steph: “I really recommend this book… a real eye opener. Love, community, hopefulness, agape- you name it… it’s different and good and there are elements that won’t be for everyone but I really enjoyed it and hope you will too!
This is one of my favorite books. Such a great read, couldn’t stop thinking about it for days! Can’t wait to read your review!
I loved this one, its a great story of transformation. I happen to have a friend that works for Invisible Children, so I was aware of the LRA before reading this. Even though its a work of fiction, I love books that bring real life problems to the public that wouldn’t normally be aware of these issues.
I just finished it yesterday and I agree, It’s a beautiful story. It wasn’t anything I expected. Great book!
Oh I agree…. This was Such a GREAT book…
I really loved this one. I read it after Dirty Red and I thought it was going to be similar but it wasn’t. Actually I’m glad it wasn’t. It so wasn’t what I expected. They are both broken in their own way. It was a beautiful story. I think you may cry I did.
Oh Maryse…you are SO RIGHT! This is such a powerful book…my book buddy & I read this a few weeks ago and just GUSHED over how intensely lovely the whole thing is from start to finish!
I read it last month. I am curious to see your review and know how you felt about the ending…
Just finished this the other day… Love it.
Great choice. This book was a stunner and a favorite for me.
Yay… For you, Maryse!
Look forward to your review.
I loved this one too. Plus it was nice to read a book that didn’t end with a cliffhanger. It was a nice change from the series style novels.
Loved it! Thanks for the recommendation!
I finished this book in and a day and absolutely fell in love with it. Not only was it a good story but it stopped and made me think. To me it had an inspirational story behind it.
One of my favorite books! Just finished it and i fell in love with it!! AMAZING!!!
Also finished this book in about a day. The beginning of the story didn’t catch me because you wanted to hate everything about Miss Vain, but it truly makes the rest of the story so much deeper. It’s love, but more than that it’s worldly and heartfelt love. I ADORE Ian. He was my book boyfriend for about 3 days…is that terrible? Too many books, too many bb’s.
Thank you Maryse and others for writing about Vain. I read the sample and was not impresssed. I wasn’t going to read it. Then based on what you wrote I decided to give it a try. I loved it. I even cried. 🙂
I’m so glad you’re reading and enjoying it, she has a few others out too that I think you’d really like. Different stories but same beautiful writing style. Cant wait to read your review!
Good choice Maryse – you will not be disappointed!
Vain is one of my favorite books. A beautiful, inspiring story, one that I will not forget.
