Yup, that’s right! I’ve amassed such a huge collection of books, most that were recommended to ME before I started this site. Old stuff from Christine Feehan, P.C. Cast, Katie MacAllister, Maggie Shayne, Christine Warren and so on. Alright…I’ll admit my “To Be Read” pile is outta control…I gotta put a dent in it. And this isn’t even half of it, but it’s what I’m planning on reading first (Oh boy…where to start?)
I’ve been so busy trying to catch up with all the latest releases. Unfortunately, I’ve discovered that some of them, lately, have not thrilled me as much as the stuff I was reading a year ago, when I first started in this genre. I have lots of series that I started but never finished because there was so much new stuff to choose from. In the beginning, I would read through an entire series without interrupting the pace. As I started collecting, and my “TBR” pile grew, I became like a kid in a candy store. A bite here, a bite there, I couldn’t stop nibbling on all of ’em. But it’s time I settle down again, and immerse myself like I used to.
So while I will continue to read & review the new releases I am super excited about (you know, new releases from a series that I already love, like Infinity from Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Eternal Kiss of Darkness from Jeaniene Frost, anything from J.R. Ward etc…), I’m going to do a marathon of “oldies” (meaning a marathon of reviews on them, too).
Right now, I’m reading “Dark Challenge” from Christine Feehan, and after I pummel my way through these, I think I’m going to go right to her “Ghost Walker” series (you know all those books that have “Game” in the title…Shadow Game, Mind Game, Night Game and so on…) I hear those are REALLY good. Thing is, if I remember correctly, I found Ms. Feehan’s “Dark” series a bit too *much* to read them all in a row (sickly sweet and would induce extreme “eye rolling” in the romance department), so I will intersperse my Feehan marathon with some of the highly anticipated newbies.
So what’dya think? Good idea? I’m excited. All these old book just waiting to be read. I remember how excited I was to get them, and how dreamy they made me feel while I started each new series, so I’m hoping going “back to my roots”, and finishing them, will bring that feeling back again.
Hope you guys enjoy!
Oh poop! Someone please tell me where I just put my Dark Challenge book?! I lost it already. I pulled out all sorts of books to take a neat picture…and put them all away again and guess what? I probably put that one away too! Grrrrrr!! Now I gotta search through the piles again (and it’s cuttin’ into my reading time!)
You go girl! I will be here to chat and dig with you. Maybe we can tag team some of these? You know if you don’t mind me coming over….I’ll bring the TruBlood ; )
Yup Lily – you got it! An open invitation to joining me on my old school ride. Come on in, and review & comment away, this i’ll be fun!
Erin, you too! Thanks for the support ya’ll!
Oh…and -yes, Lily, you saw it right. It’s 1:55 am and I’m still up. This old school trip is so fun that I’m reading again late into the night. Julian in “Dark Challenge” is keeping me up – HA! Love it. I haven’t been tempted to stay up late for a book in awhile 🙂
I love this idea! I feel that way sometimes, too… I get so caught up in the latest and greatest “new releases” that I just have to have. And I’m always getting hooked on NEW series. But I have shelves full of older stuff… and older series on my wishlists that I’ve been wanting to get to for years! So, I applaud you for going old school! 🙂
I envy the fact that you have so many you havent read yet…as for me being a “New Born”(he he oh yeah just went to the movies and watched “Eclipse”)Ive just started my colletion just over the last 6 months,,and get frustrated when I dont have anything new to read,,,that now when i have my monthly book spree i try to pace myself but its sooooooo hard,,,cause im so eager to read about the next warrior or demon or valkerie, or vampire, or carpathian,,etc…..anyways…im rambling,,just fair warning,,the next few books of the “Dark Series” are highly addicting,,Im starting “Dark Guardian”I would love to tell you who its about,,but it will soooo ruin a big surprize,,cause it was a huge surprize for me,,”And I thought I liked Gregori the best”(lol) and “shadow Game” Was very well I thought,,,but not wanting to spoil the book for you,,,I’ll just tell you this much If you like “Carpathians” muahahahaha!!!you’ll love “Ghostwalkers” looking foward to reading your reviews…Have a Happy 4th!!!

Right now I’m re-reading one of my favorite series while my TBR pile has been theatening to topple over and kill me. I need to take a page from your book!
What series are you re-reading?
I usually check your site once a week, but I’ve been too busy with my own TBR pile. Funny how I had just come to decision to step back and re-think my reading methods as it was getting out of hand. Between my kindle, book stores and public library I’m never at a loss for something to read. I may create my own data base so I can keep track of story lines, charactors, etc. without re-reading the whole thing.
And you know, I’m having a lot more fun this way. Reading what I want to read, which essentially are these books that I originally researched (review-wise) and decided upon. I’ve got entire collections, and I’m in the mood for some of that old intensity back. So far, so good!
Oooh its going to be a hell of a ride. Its gonna bring back emotions that you’ve felt when you’ve first opened that book. You will feel anxious with what is going to happened on your favorite character on the next chapter, although you know it already, you would still want to focus on the details.Like someones gonna give you a pop quiz or something :-). When you see your books filed up, its gonna bring back how many lunch breaks you’ve skipped as a student trying to save up money to buy the next book in the series. How many sleepless nights you’ve spent trying to continue the story in your mind and exploring the possiblities, I call it “The WHAT IF Syndrome”. How many fights you’ve had with your hubby because you can’t put down your book will you guys are on a date ( wait… we still have this arguments, i guess something’s never changed..) uuuhhhhh memories right?! Well, im happy that you’re doing this. It will take a lot of determination to go back on your old collections while keeping up with latest craze. Coz im sure you’ll have a feeling like 24 hours a day is not enough just for reading alone!
