Going over the fun “TBR list” quizzes that I’ll be posting in the next few weeks, I realized, mine was in sore need of an overhaul. Or at least an update. From what I can tell, I haven’t posted an official one since October 2015! I’ve been meaning to make a new list for some time now. I have many unfinished TBR lists, but I hear many of you do, too, so I don’t feel so bad. Tee hee!
But come on!! How can anyone blame us? Considering all of these new releases coming out, or when we’re in the mood for a little genre-change, or when our best book-addict friends INSIST they’ve read one they know we’ll love like crazy, it’s impossible for a book-addict to stick to just one.
Amy: Oh geez…*throws hands up in the air**tosses TBR list backwards over head*
Sandi: Ok, I’m going to have to put my foot down! My TBR list is just too long and you keep putting too many up that sound good. I can’t be held responsible because I have to keep checking…so you have to stop!
Fabi: *Tbr fist bump* I was just looking through one of Maryse’s tbr lists from a couple of years ago and I think I’m depressed now. Most of those are also and STILL on my tbr. I feel like I’m missing out on so many great books that I meant (still mean) to read but haven’t yet for some unknown mysterious reason…
Salllie: Man my tbr/ to be bought list is getting longer and longer!
No worries, you guys! Having plenty of choices is a wonderful thing. A TBR list is a great guide, but not necessarily one we have to stick to from start to finish right? We can just keeping adding. Rearranging. Or just making new one after new one, like I do. But! I save all of mine, so I can always backtrack (and I do!)
P.S. Here’s the smorgasbord of MY TBR LISTS (there are umm… a few of ‘em on there. Tee hee!! ALL the books on those lists, that I haven’t read yet, I still badly want to – so these lists are still valid)
Okay and to be fair, there are HUNDREDS more on my current TBR list (old and new), that I can’t wait to read, but right now, at this very moment? Consider this:
MY DESPERATE TO READ LIST:
- It Ends with Us: A Novel by Colleen Hoover <— Because I absolutely love everything this author writes, and I just read an excerpt of a review a few days ago that said something along the lines of how this one was very different from her other books, and was… I dunno…. GUT WRENCHING? Or devastating. Anyway, it appears this book will destroy me. Or make me? Maybe both? Either way, I want that! Jawdroppingly good was the impression I had from that snippet.
- Undone: A Novel by John Colapinto <—
WHAT I’M READING RIGHT NOW!!! I’ve had this one on my list for a month or so now, and I’ve been nervous. As nervous as I am to read the one called Tampa (below). But I’m also titillated ’cause it’s a risqué, taboo read that has received plenty of accolades, and yet, toes the line of too risqué for some. When you’re reading something significantly sordid, thinking you knew what the “sordid” part was from the beginning, but it turned into something so much more… sordid. It’s all sorts of moral distress. That’s where I’m at. Tee hee!!!READ!!! MY REVIEW - Unbreak My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn <— When I’m in the mood for unrequited love, romance angst and a sweet but SO sad sounding story. This one sounds like EVERYTHING I love in a potential love story, and I am on pins and needles waiting for it!
- Until You: The Fall Away Series by Penelope Douglas <— Because even though I already read Bully and loved it, supposedly this one (from HIS POV) is even better. And NOT the whole story retold from his POV… very different, in fact, and my book-friends are insisting this cannot wait any longer.
Grey: Read it!!! I’m abusing exclamation points right now, and I don’t even care! I loved Until You even more than Bully! Bully actually only got a 4.5 star rating from me, but Until You got a full 5 star rating!!! Oh hell, now I am going to have to go and read it again! Oh you simply have to read it!!! Jared’s take on everything… it’s… pretzel tummy jerkface angsty brilliance at it’s best!!!
Jean: Ugh Maryse! I know the feeling! But please read Until You! You won’t be disappointed! I don’t want to leave this book! I want it to last forever……I could get lost in it forever! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!! … it is a totally different story than Tate’s in Bully. I could not stop reading and stupid work is getting in my way today! I just want to get back to it asap! My heart is aching for Jared….I love him! Love him! I definitely see a book fog coming after this one! Anyone who has not read Bully and Until You, GET ON IT NOW!
Tessa: Until You gutted me just like Bully. It’s how same time-frame, different POV should be done. It was insane.
- The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison <— Sounds like the ultimate psych-thriller, and the reviews are AMAZING. It’s only coming out in a few days, but I AM SO ON THIS.
- Angel of Redemption by J.A. Little <— For when I want a slow-burn with a jack-butt! LOL! 😉 My book-besties are LOVING this one!!!
Kandace: A few of us read and loved Angel of Redemption by J.A. Little. It’s a longer book (600 pages). He’s an moody but lovable jackbutt. She’s a bit feisty and sassy. Their chemistry was sizzling. It’s a bit of a slow burn romance but once they connect….THEY *Ahem*….connect often! The foster kids’ story was just as interesting. …I think a lot of you would love this book.
Shirley: After being in a book slump the past few weeks, I started Angel Of Redemption last night and I’m loving it!!! I agree with Kandace in what she said about this book!!
- The Jack & Jill Series by Jewel E Ann <— When I’m “ready for a “cry so hard you can’t see and also laugh so hard you can’t breathe” series” (<— as per Rebecca 😉 ) ’cause so many here read this trilogy and LOVED IT LIKE MAD!!!
Rebecca: Did I mention you need to read Jack and Jill? I am not sure if I adequately expressed how excited I was. I may have seemed under-enthused. 🙂 I am telling you….telling anyone who will listen…telling everyone…READ IT! you will not be disappointed. I think I only slept 3 hours a night each night once I started the series- I literally could not put it down.
marina: Hi Rebecca, I too am wanting Maryse and anyone and everyone to read Jack and Jill IMMEDIATELY… Funny we both told her to “bump it up” in our comments. And all 3 books can all be read in a row! I had to wait with cliffhangers which was tough. THEY ARE SOOOO GOOD!!!
Linda: I’m on book 2 of the Jack and Jill series by Jewel E. Ann and they are unputdownable!!!! Jewel is such an intelligent writer!!! Her books have all the feels!!!
Jenny: The Jack and Jill series! I read all 3 this week. Never have I been so happy to have the stomach flu. It gave me 2 days off work to be able to lay in bed and read. (I may be silver lining the situation a bit. . I remember you recommending these but the book blurb turned me off. I’m slightly burned out from the love triangle theme and the rest sounded convoluted, but when I came across it again I hit the “read sample” button and didn’t come out for 48 (flu filled) hours. Read these, Maryse! You won’t be disappointed!
- Sunset Park (Five Boroughs Book 2) by Santino Hassel <— When I’m in the mood for an awesome M/M romance book, and I hear this author is one of the best. Plus so many of my friends LOVE this series, and a few loved THIS book the most (it can be read as a standalone so YAY me!!).
Fabi: I finished the Sunset Park in, like, a day because I couldn’t put it down. I’m not sure I got any work done today at all. I’m in a total book fog. This next one needs to either blow it out of the park or be cute and funny. It’s really hard to read that next book after finishing an awesome one.
- Tampa by Alissa Nutting <— When I’m in the mood for infuriating, morally confusing, taboo forbiddenness. It’s a love or hate fest for this one, but it seems to be unforgettable no matter what. And that crazy risqué blurb scares me good!
S. Ann: Maryse, you should totally read TAMPA! For those who have kids, it might be cringe-worthy, but it’s worth the experience being in the head of a pedophile. For me, I was fascinated! Mind you, I rated it 2.5 stars on Goodreads only because at the 70% mark the protagonist did something completely unforgivable in my eyes. It pissed me off royally, and I rated the book poorly because of that one incident. That said, I will be going back to upgrade my rating because TAMPA has turned out to be one of those reads that NEVER leaves my mind! Even though it’s been quite a while since I read it, I find myself thinking about it all the time. And that, in my honest opinion, is what makes a good book.
- The Empty Jar by M. Leighton <— When I’m in the mood for a solid ugly cry from start to finish. Just look at all of the 5 stars (and pretty much ONLY that). When I’m ready to go deep, this is the one for me.
Ela: YOU WILL SO LOVE THE EMPTY JAR, JUST KEEP THE TISSUES AND ALCOHOL READY… THE EMPTY JAR IS A SOBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG FEST OF A BOOK! IT’S SO SADLY BEAUTIFUL BUT OH SO DAMN SAD TOO!!!!!!
Michelle: I’m finishing up and then onto The Empty Jar tomorrow. Per Ela, I’m ready for a SOBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG FEST OF A BOOK!
- The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith <— When I’m in the mood to immerse myself in an extremely long book, but in for an epic, long and crazy kind of darkish sci-fi romance feel, that has so many here LOVING IT like crazy.
Jan130: Finally finished Last Hour of Gann last night. Yeh, it’s a megaread, but so totally worth it. Completely gripping adventure. A lot of it is about desperate people behaving badly, and you just never know what’s going to happen next. The story is actually quite uplifting in many ways. Smith isn’t afraid to show us the worst side of humanity (and of the aliens, who behave just like humans anyway).
But she also shows us how people (and aliens) with integrity can grow and develop wisdom.I usually can’t stomach books or films with too much violence or darkness, but in this case the violence is totally an essential part of the story and the characters. You even find some sympathy for some of the bad dudes (like Zhuqa) when you understand their history and motivations.
And the romance of Amber and Meoraq is totally lovely. This isn’t one of those schlocky human woman meets hot alien with extraordinarily large **** for kinky sex type books. It’s a well-written book that also explores some very interesting philosophical questions through the storyline, without being preachy. Well done, R. Lee Smith.
Fabi: yes The Last Hour of Gann should not be missed. …dark and gritty and takes you on a wild ride.
- Radiance (Wraith Kings Book 1) by Grace Draven <— Another paranormalish? Fantasy-ish LOVE story that everyone here goes crazy for, and insists we NOT judge the book by it’s cover.
Fabi: Radiance…wooooow. That was…woooooooow. I don’t know if I can resist going straight through to the next one. The end of that book was so unexpected I’m still reeling.
Jean: You guys! I am loving Radiance. Only at 20% but, yeah, don’t want to put it down! And yes, I will never look at a potato the same again!
Jan130: Yeah, it’s official. Radiance is excellent. Lovely, original characters and world-building. Kind of like a sweet YA fantasy in some ways, except the relationship between Brishen and Ildiko gets *ahem* rather adult.
- Warprize (Chronicles of the Warlands Book 1) by Elizabeth Vaughan <— For when I’m in the mood for another like The Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley. I just love a book where a bad-ass, untouchable and seemingly unloveable warrior wins a woman (aka: forces her to be his). Ugh right? But in books, I love that love-story journey… when it’s done right.
Young: Please read Tairen Soul series, or Warprize. Both were AMAZING and the best I’ve ever read!! The world building in the stories is top notch. You won’t be sorry
Michelle: it is very good and a fabulous rec for those who want that kind of read again minus the alternate universe stuff.
- Broken Prince: A Novel (The Royals) by Erin Watt <— Relief from that cliffhanger on the first book, and more bully-rich kids drama that I can’t wait to devour.
- Swear on This Life: A Novel by Renee Carlino <— She reads a best selling book that she’s entranced with and realizes that it’s HER story! Someone from her past wrote about her life, and is doing VERY well with that book… and she’s mad!!
- The Goal (Off-Campus Book 4) by Elle Kennedy <— When I’m in the mood for more Elle Kennedy “new adult” romance. Wait… when am I NOT in the mood for her awesome stories? She’s hilarious, her books read like you’re watching the BEST sitcom or best romcom movie ever, and I can’t WAIT for this one.
- Hidden Bodies: A Novel by Caroline Kepnes <— When I’m in the mood for psych-thriller, crazy stalker love-story fun! I can’t wait!!! You was darn good, so this… well. I’m reading it as soon as I get it!!
OMG S. Ann only you can sell a book with only 2.5 stars! It’s Robin, BTW (R. Hill sounded like a dude)!
LOL!!!!
I was thinking the same thing R. 😉
I had to post that!
She’s a little crazy, that one. But I’d take her word for it…
You need to read Fallen Crest High by Tijan!
This is an interesting mix.
War prize has been in my tbr since it was published. Why do we put off books so long?
Radiance was a lovely romantic read.
Last Hour of Gaan, just sucks you in. It’s dense and slow moving and dark and it is so very addicting. You will definitely feel hung over after you read it. Really, do not be put off by its length, I honestly would not have minded if it was longer. Though, I did want to shake Amber a couple times and tell her to let them go. Just let them go.
Going to be in the minority here, but I don’t remember much about Until You. And I’ll admit I’m not the Hoover fan many on here are. She is a bit hit or miss for me.
Tampa…..I don’t think I can go to that head space. But the Widow I’m curious about.
There’s just so many of them Bev! I’ll never catch up with you guys. I’m just now reading Surviving Raine! I guess it’s good though, by the time I think I want to read a new book, everyone’s split (like Smut), so I put it off and pick something off the TBR. I’ve managed 9 so far this month though! Weeding through them!
SR is so fun. It can be nice to be behind sometimes. Cause you know when you get those prefect reading days? Then you have these gems to choose from.
You have got to add Deeper by Robin York to that list. On sale and Maryse just re – posted her review.
*whispers*
Jellicoe Road, too.
Deeper was just ok for me. I can’t remember why. I think it was because I’d just discovered Maryse’s blog and I was going through ALL of her 5 stars which made it easy to compare. I keep seeing Jelico Road on here! I’ll be checking that out.
Psych thrillers that come to mind… Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter and The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson. They are unputdownable and will stay with you… So so good! 🙂
“Just ok”- we can no longer be book friends.
Lol.
:’-( I’ll miss you. I really felt we were bonding.
Yes, well better to end it now before hearts are truly involved.
It Ends With Us and Unbreak My Heart…yes, yes, YESSSSSSSS!!! *lifts pistachio martini in cheers*
*holds out martini for Maryse* …since I know you were aiming to snatch mine. 😉
Warprize IS really good. Definitely a lighter version of Golden Dynasty but so much fun.
The Jack and Jill series… *snaps fingers* THAT is what I’ll start this evening. It sounds perfect for my mood right now. 😀
Bev…suppose I steal Amy’s martini for you…can we be friends again?
Omg Bev and R… *snort*
And R, definitely try Jellicoe Toad. DEFINITELY.
LOL bev and R. Renee… you guys are cracking me up!!!!
Oh for f$&@’s sake.
Jellicoe ROAD.
*gulps pistachio martini*
Um, I think someone does need to still it.
Stay away from any toads please.
YES CINDY!!! Thank you for reminded me about Pretty Girls!!! *wheeee*!!
I have read The Kind Worth Killing… what an ending!!!!!!
*gulps down pistachio martini*
YUM!!!!
*hands empty glass to Amy for a refill*
*while Amy is busy refilling… snatches Amy’s martini* 😛
But… toads are cute. Just don’t lick ’em!
*drops a toy toad in Maryse’s martini*
*looks innocently at Bev and shrufs*
What??
Thank you Katherine!!! Yes… so many here agree with you on that. 😉
Wait…what the heck is a pistachio martini?? Sorry, Bev. I’ll pass you the next one.
It’s funny when Amy *shrufs*
*snort*
SHRUFS???
*throws iPhone against wall*
Pistachio martinis are what’s getting me buzzed right now. 😉
Keep the phone, throw the martini.
BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!
*snicker* Why not Maryse? What do toads taste like? 😛
I wouldn’t lick ANYTHING with a wart on it…
Wait, what did Kayherine say…
*scrolls up*
WOOOOOOo-HOOOOOO!!!! Woman after our own hearts!!!
I’m sipping tequila and I fell like the big loser tonight against martinis with nuts.
*snort*
R wants some nuts…
😛
Do toads have nuts?
Do you know why I LOOOOOVVVVVVEEEE you guys?? It’s Saturday night and here we all are getting drunk and chatting about books!!!!
MY HEARTS!!!!
*cackles and points at R*
She knows!! She does she does she DOES!!!
Wait, where is our resident vet? MICHELLE!!!
Wait, Amy. What did who say?
Well…I did just buy a candle on Amazon because it was called “smell my nuts” so there’s that.
Smell My Nuts?!? No way!! LOL!!!
Bev…it should have been Katherine. 😉
My fingers are a little tingly right now…
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00H0BW6I6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1464487576&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=smell+my+nuts+candle&dpPl=1&dpID=51GZ5SnjVIL&ref=plSrch
Some amphibians can be toxic, that’s why your supposed to wash your hands after holding one.
I’m obsessed with candles. I just now started buying soy because I’m scared the soot is turning my nostrils black!
Bev…sounds like a couple of guys I dated in high school. 😛
Gah R!! That one sounds yummy!!
I use Scentsy in my house…they have the most amazingly delicious scents.
and how did the toad get into this discussion in the first place?
*bites plastic toad*
mmmmmm nutty. 😛
What scents do you like? Soy candles are expensive and I can’t write without something!!!
My absolute fave is Go Go Goji. I stocked up with about a dozen (no lie) big bricks of that scent a few years ago when I found out they were discontinuing it.
My next favorite is blueberry cheesecake. *droooool* They come out with all kinds of crazy scents each season as well…like jellybean at Easter!!
OMG…
😯
Maryse went there!!!!! Bahahahahahaha!!!
I have to get some!!! I have a friend who sells them and I’ve never tried it!
Amy. Amy brought the toad to the party.
The prettiest toad I’d ever seen
Oh oh. bev licked the toad.
I love candles too!!!
I’m a dessert smell lover. Apple cinnamon cookies, or blueberry muffin, or cherry pie, or lemon cookie.
Yeah. I love dessert smells BIG time.
I knew better too, than to link a toad. That it would be the toad to no where.
Me to Maryse, but the 2 I bought are called “hearts and flowers” and “love spell.” Somehow I feel you’re a bit responsible for this!!
LOL bev is a happy girl on her toad to nowhere.
And R. Renee.. I do love the sound of those candles. I wonder if I’d love the smell?
I’ll let you know. I usually get dessert breads and honeysuckle! This will be a new trial for me.
Lifts my margarita…
Love this new list Maryse! I have not read Jack and Jill I may short list that one myself…
Seems like I’ve missed drinkie good times. Only here, had my own drinkie times at a friends cookout. Vodka lemonade- yum!! I love candles too.
Maryse,I’ve only read Until You from your list. Lots for me to check out.
Finally able to sit down and figure out my next read…
Maryse, your just killing me. Feel like I’m constantly drunk with all you guys and the time difference in Australia. I keep clicking samples buying books on sale I feel like I have so many to start and read tbr is out of control. Can you set up a tbr on the kindle or iPad some how. Does any body have any good ideas.
Hahaha Melinda. I feel the same way. These ladies are going to make a drinker out of me yet.
If you’re using the Kindle app, you can create “Collections” which are basically categories to group your books into. For example, you could make a “read” and a “tbr” collection, then categorise books into each of those.
The links at the bottom of this Amazon page will take you to instructions on how to create Collections dependung on which device you use.

For all you toadettes
Fall in love with toad here:
The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame (a children’s book)
Maryse and R…you guys should DEFINITELY try Scentsy. The scents are to die for…and no black soot in the nostrils. 😉 And yes, they have lemony scents!! Lemon Verbena is one, and for a while they had Lemon Coconut Chiffon. And the warmers are adorable!
I was not expecting Amy to be up so early. Lol.
I really want to try a Hearth and Hammer candle.
I have a Burt’s Bees Papaya Guava that smells good.
Omg…toad to nowhere?? I am picturing Bev sitting on a giant toad making it’s way into the sunset… *snort*
And I remember that book, Fabi! There was even Badger in it…but not OUR Badger. *sniffle* Do you remember the frog and toad books? Soooo sweet.
Melinda…I second what Fabi said. Collections are a GREAT way to organize in Kindle! 😀
Oh geez, Bev…I was up at 6:30 this morning with a roaring headache (my own fault). A strong pot of coffee and a nice dose of aspirin took care of that though. 😉
My mom suggests a nice egg and bacon breakfast, or a steak or Mcdonalds.
Something big and greasy.
It’s funny ’cause when I feel bad, the last thing I want is that.
Maryse ‘ s mom is advising Amy on her hangover breakfast.
That’s great.
Not since my 20s.
Maryse’s momma is smart. 😉 Hubby is making me fried eggs and bacon right now with a side of tomato wedges drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled witht salt and pepper.
At my direction, of course. 😉
Bev…your self-discipline puts me to shame. *sigh*
Sweet husband.
And it is the other way around. I just never drank much. *shrug*
But otherwise no self discipline. I always admire yours when you talk of your homework, job, house work, and exercise. I honestly do need to work on it, be one of those people who just gets things done. It is an admirable trait.
Missed all the fun again. I was at the Jimmy Buffet tail-gate party that’s in town. Fabi, where were you???? That place is kuh-ray-zeeeeee.
What a very interesting list. I guess you have to be in the mood for each of these reads. You know what my vote will be: The Last Hour of Gann, Radiance, Warprize. LHoG is at least just one (albeit very long) book. The others require follow up reads, so of the “fantasy” picks, I’d go with Gann. I also happened to like it best out of those 3. Just an amazing story.
I haven’t even heard of most of these! I’ve been reading this blog for years, how did I miss so many?? I remember when you used to post a pic of your TBR list on your Kindle and I recognized almost every book.
Speaking of……I had a whole list. Haven’t even started. So, should get up and do it.
*pfft*
MichelleS. ….wait. What is that??
My TBR list is kind of weird too…
Thicker Than Blood
Stanton Series (books 2 and 3)
Virgins (Outlander Novella)
Sparrow
Mack (The King series book 4)
Low
A Demon Imp
Pucked and Pucked Up
The Goldfinch
The Nightingale
Illuminae
Tangled
Cocky Bastard
Beat
Until The End of the World
Oh gah….. and so many more…. why do I buy new books? these ALL had fabulous reviews from my fellow readers on this blog – I just know they are probably ALL great! UGH. I think that’s why I chase a shiny new toy – I can’t handle this list.
Bev – what is Jimmy Buffet tail gate party? When JB comes to town, the entire parking lot and surrounding lots are full of RVs and tents and buses. It’s like a mecca for Parrotheads. It’s basically a two-day party awaiting the concert. It’s just nuts. Google it, you’ll see. He comes to Frisco Texas every year. I think he goes to most of all the same cities. It’s just one giant party now. You don’t even have to go to the concert to enjoy the party.
That’s awesome MichelleS.
To get me up and moving.

I read a good one a few weeks ago called Angel of Redemption by J.A. Little. It is a lengthy book (almost 600 pages). I loved everything about the book. I wouldn’t change a thing. The h is really likeable, strong and sassy which I found refreshing. The secondary characters where just as interesting. I think a lot of you would love this book.
Awww Bev…you’re seriously sweet for saying that. But you can cross work off my list ’cause that with school was TOO much. And I only work out so much and with a trainer because I love liquor and food so much. 😛 But thank you for putting a smile on my face. 😀
MichelleS! The first and last on your list…YES!!
Holy moly, I’m not a Jimmy Buffet fan but I would SO go to a JB tailgate party!!!
*looks up Angel of Redemption*
Oh hey, I have that one! 😀
After being in a book slump the past few weeks, I started Angel Of Redemption last night and I’m loving it!!! I agree with Kandace in what she said about this book!!
MichelleS that sounds like a blast.
Amy, tell your hubby to make enough for 3. I’m on my way over. That sounds like the perfect breakfast.
Looking up Angel of Redemption…
Holy crap Amy…what was in that pistachio martini? I just woke up!! it’s noon! I haven’t done that since college. It had nothing to do with the tequila I was sipping between them, right??
MuchelleS, Until the End of the World! I’m so glad Amy recommended it, though I confess, I still have to read (aka buy) the last one. *Next month Amy. Seriously!* I have Thicker than Blood but I keep shying away from it. I don’t know why, but I do.
Maryse, your list… You’ve planned for every mood. Until You, *sighs* Sooooo good. The only other one I read was Radiance which I really liked too. Broken Prince and The Goal will be auto reads as soon as they are released.
In a book slump so giving Angel of Redemption a shot.
I just added Angel of Redemption to my new TBR list, thanks to Kandace and Shirley!!! 😀
Tessa, I did!!! 😀 One for all my book-needs. 😉
Maryse, S. Ann just told me you read/rated Jahleel, so I just read your review. Definitely adding it to my TBR now
Stupid phone cut me off! I beta-read Yes, Mr. Van Der Wells. It was hysterical. Jahleel doesn’t seem so lol. But now I’m curious!
I thought Angel of Redemption sounded familiar. I read it when it was a fanfiction- The Demons in My Dreams. Loved it! Just disappointed that I’ve already read it. :>
I’m curious as to what you will read to help with the aftermath of your last read, Maryse.
MichelleS, some of yours are sitting in my tbr too.
Cheryl, is it a slow burn?
R. Renee, Jahleel was great!!! Slow burn and unrequited love (plenty of that!!) and just an awesome angsty romance that I still think fondly about.
*sigh* bev… I’m doing another psych-thriller. I can’t resist that one up there (The Butterfly Garden) but Angel of Redemption is calling me hard!
MichelleS quite a few on your TBR list that I loved!!!! 😀
I’ve almost finished my uni committments for this semester….finally close to getting some quality reading time back.
Ok Mayse. You’ve spurred me on. Im tackling tbr reads for a bit to see if I can 1) put a dent in this humongous file of kindle books and 2) catch up on some of my favorite series.
First cab of the rank is The Shadows….far too long between BDB books for me.
So sad that most of my recent reading has been journal articles and student assignments. I was going to post a FLT from one of the text books….but thats just tragic..and not even funny. 🙁
Oh. I finished Sugar Daddy andcreally enjoyed it….the prologue will be a bit much for some but its a good story and loooved the H…if you liked Manwhore you’ll love this.
OMG. I just went and read the blurb for the Jack and Jill series. Holy batman. It sounds crazy. I think I might download the sample and see what that is all about. I am in the mood for something totally different. My TBR list is full of great reads, but they are all in certain “categories” and I am in the mood for something a little different. Normally, I’d go for Illuminae in that case, but I have the digital version and it was SO HARD to read that way. I also downloaded the sample of Angel of Redemption. We shall see who captures my interest.
MichelleS, I’m reading J&J right now (book 1) and it IS different. It’s third-person POV so we see things from more than just the twins’ side.
I had a hard time at first but only because I was trying to set everything up in my head, and sometimes THAT is what causes me to DNF a book…something as simple as not being able to picture the duplex they are living in can completely take my focus off the story and make me want to stop reading it. It’s working for me so far for the most part, but we’ll see…
Lisa…I feel ya with the textbook almost being your first line for FLT. 😉
I haven’t read J&J but tried another by the author. I didn’t Dnf it but I did squirrel. I thought I’d go back, just wasn’t connecting, so curious as to what you’ll think of them, Amy.
Amt, that’s not encouraging. I have the three book set since that was a KU selection at one point. However, not being able to picture something is a huge pet peeve of mine. It’s why I never can get into the BDB books. I swear, by description, they all live in military cells. :/
“by description, they all live in military cells.”
Huh? They live in a mansion with every convenience and servants to wait on them. Priceless furniture and rugs and amazing artwork all over the place.
I can’t imagine which one you read that gave you the impression of prison cells.
*grins* Every description of a room has a bed, a night stand and a chair. I don’t remember reading more than that. Grand mansion, “well and lavishly decorated” with a couch. *shrugs* It’s probably me but the only room that ever seemed easy to picture is the meeting room.
Oh. The King’s bedroom had more. I forget what due to how many years since I read it.
Tessa your imagination has painted are totally opposite pic to mine……I have a huge Transylvanian castle-like mansion in mind with marble floors and huge tapestries and paintings. And bedrooms with huge timber four poster or sleigh beds and silk drapes. Luxury with big burly fighters tromping around in steel capped boots messing up it all up. 😉
🙂 I see a big palatial mansion… with tiny, sparse rooms.
That’s great how our minds will have completely different pictures.
Thank you for putting this list together. I just picked up the Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan and the rest in the series. Not my normal read but I loved the Kristen Ashley’s Golden Dragon so I though I would give them a chance!
Yay Kathy!!! Let me know what you think. 😀
Tessa…I don’t think it’s that the book itself is making it hard to picture the setting but more that *I* am having trouble picturing it for whatever reason, and that was giving me trouble in paying attention to what I was reading.
That being said, I AM having trouble feeling anything strong for the story. It’s not bad by any means (obviously, because a bunch of ladies have loved it on here!), so maybe it’s just me and my mood right now. *shrugs* I seem to be having that trouble lately though.
Back from the barbecue we went to and now I’m going to try and give J&J a fair shot. 😀
Bev…I LOVED her book Undeniably You, but I am having trouble connecting with this one. Like I said above, it may just be my state of mind right now with everything going on…I have so little time to read, and when I *do* have time to read I want the book to grab me and gratify me IMMEDIATELY. *snort* That didn’t sound suggestive or anything. 😛 We’ll see…
However, Sarge is pretty hilarious in all his grumpiness and his reactions and inner thoughts.
Awww bummer Amy!
Do you have Amazon Prime? You can start The Butterfly Garden early and we can read it together. You too, Fabi!!
LOL Lisa!!!
Your “boots messing everything up” comment has me laughing!!!!!!
How do we get it early using Prime? I’m in the middle of a book anyways so just curious.
It just lets us!! :D!!! If we have Amazon prime, it looks like they choose a few upcoming releases and they let us have one to read free right now! (Not KU… it’s literally Amazon Prime!) Go to it on Amazon, and it should say something like Prime members get it now free or read it now free. But I think they change them out each month.
I do have it! Thanks to being a student, I get it free for 6 months…but dang, it will be worth it even when I *do* have to pay for it!
Alright, after that blurb…I’m. So. In! Holy moly, am I ever IN. Starting it tonight. 😀
Good lord…I am so easily influenced on here.
“Are you a book leader or a book follower?”
*snort*
The latter. Totally the latter. 😛
Seriously? Who is coming up with these? Just saw this – funny cause your talking of prime.

Oh ok, the free 1/month. I haven’t read the last one I got. I syppose if I return it anyways I can get this new one. I hope.
Fabi, just go with care my friend. You realize you are contemplating a book journey with Maryse & Amy. Amy & Maryse. Marmie.
Go with care.
MARMY!!!
Go with MARMY!!!
hahaha you guys
I deleted my old loan, now let’s see if it offers me a new one
woohoo! I got it. You’re awesome Maryse. Are y’all planning on starting it now? I’m in the middle of another book I’d hate to squirrel on.
YAY!!! 😀 I’ll be starting tonight but I’ll likely fall asleep in the first chapter. It’s how I do… this late at night. 😉
*jumps up and down*
YES!!! GO WITH MARMY!!!
Marmy looooooooves Fabi!! 😀
Starting BG in 3…2…
*giggles at Maryse as she conks out*
…1. Go me!!
Phooey, I gotta go to sleep and I’m only about 30% into the book I’m reading. I’ll think about squirreling tomorrow. Too tired now. ‘night everyone.
I’m here so late and not sure if anyone will see this but Maryse and Amy, Grey and MichelleS, and everyone else if you haven’t started you MUST READ the Jack and Jill series!!!!! It was so flippin’ good! Read, read, read! It was on my top list from last year. And I am still feeling how good it was. You will not be sorry. I think I’ve mentioned that it’s a rollercoaster of every emotion. It’s whacked and funny and sad and HOT and everything all in one! And not one hottie but several. And it’s a perfect summer read! I’m trying to sell it really hard over here……
