Welcome to another night of Reader Favorites TOP Books for 2016!!! Tonight, Jean brings us her list. and I KNOW so many of us will relate to the reason she loves these books. Oh how we love to try and fix our beautiful, broken book-men. π
Hi Maryse! This was really hard to limit to 10! So I went over (just a little…lol)!
My biggest pet peeve with books is cheating! Oh, and years of wasted time between H and h…. That drives me crazy! Death books were always hard for me too, but usually once I read them (after urging from the “Marmy” twins), I end up loving them and they are always unforgettable!
You all know how I am about the broken hero though and I’m thinking maybe you should name my list “Jean’s Favorite Broken Hero Books of 2016” Haha!
1. A Lover’s LamentΒ by K.L. Grayson and B.T. Urruela <— I will continue to recommend this book! Having the input of Mr. Urruela made this book so real with him being in the military and having that knowledge first hand. I loved it! Broken military hottie! Mine!
2. Night Shifts Black (NSB Book 1)/Tracing Holland (NSB Book 2)Β by Alyson Santos <— Loved, loved, loved this storyline! Of course another broken Hero, but a musician this time, and the 2nd book was so healing!
3.Β KEPT: A Second Chance Fairy Tale by A.C. Bextor <— First of all, that cover! Stunning! And the story inside just as stunning!
4. The Fire Between High & Lo/The Silent WatersΒ byΒ Brittainy C. Cherry <— Every book is this series had significant meaning to them! So great! And need I say it, broken heros……
5. Royal AtlasΒ by H.J. Bellus <— Was lucky to read this one before the end of the year! It was so beautiful! I love the use of animals for healing and therapy! Yep, another broken hero. Do you see a pattern here?
6. Fighting Solitude (On The Ropes Book 3)Β by Aly Martinez <— The whole damn family was broken, so there you have it! Great series and highly recommend it! Each book just made the series better and better!
7. Whispers and the RoarsΒ byΒ K. Webster <— Because I had no idea what was going on until that midway point and I was like “what?!” Needed to go back and re-read some parts because seriously “what?!”!!!!!!!!
8.Β WomanizerΒ by Katy Evans <— This is my first venture back to Katy Evans even though the Real series is and will remain one of my alltime favs (Remy…sigh). Well, Callan rocked my world in this book! Definitely fell for him hook, line, and sinker! Now I gotta go back and read the rest of this series!
9. Pull Me Close: The Panic SeriesΒ byΒ Sidney Halston <— Loved it! And guess what, not a broken hero this time, but a broken heroine! I am so looking forward to the 2nd book in this series!
10. Ricochet (A Vigilantes Novel)/Backfire (A Vigilantes Novel)Β byΒ Keri Lake <— One word, exhilarating! If you guys haven’t read these, please do! I mean how can you resist that cover of Ricochet….he is amazing!
11. Wild AbandonΒ by Jeannine Colette (Love you Jeannine!) <— Loved Pure AbandonΒ too! Great, great books!
12. The Law of Moses/The Song of David (The Law of Moses Book 2)Β by Amy Harmon <— More great reading from Amy Harmon and I just couldn’t go without mentioning them!
And because I didn’t want to include books that have been on other lists this far, special shout out to the following;
- Deep Redemption (Hades Hangmen Book 4)Β by Tillie Cole – Amazing series!
- An Exaltation of LarksΒ by Suanne Laqueur……unforgettable!
- From Sand and AshΒ by Amy Harmon – Words cannot describe how much I loved this book!
- It Ends with Us: A NovelΒ by Colleen Hoover – You all know why!
- Full Tilt/All In (Full Tilt Book 2)Β by Emma Scott – She’s a go-to author for me! Love her writing!
- The Last Hour of GannΒ byΒ R. Lee Smith – This book was like nothing I’ve ever read before! Thank you Fabi!
- Bad Boy Billionaires seriesΒ byΒ Max Monroe (The entire series rocked my world! I will seriously miss this whole crew!)
- WolfsongΒ byΒ TJ Klune – My first “wolf-shifter” book and I loved it! Thanks again Fabi!
It was so hard to narrow it down to 10!!!!! Sorry! I just was so lucky to have read so many great books in 2016!
Thanks for all you do Maryse and for bringing this great group of people together! Happy New Year and Happy Reading for 2017!
Love, Jean
Check out more of Jean’s favorites:
I keep forgetting about Lover’s Lament! I need to read that one. Great list Jean. And thanks for turning me on to Jeannine Colette. I loved Wild Abandon too. Reading Sinful Abandon tonight!
I’ve actually read 4 of these. 4.
Hey, do you think I’d like Wild Abandon. I keep seeing you mention it but I don’t think I’ve even read the blurb.
Great list! A Loverβs Lament was one of my top 2016 reads too. Loved it.
I have no idea bev! It’s just a swoony love story that takes place in wine country. I’m probably not the best judge because a romantic sci-fi thriller with sex crazed two headed aliens could take place in wine country and I’m going to like it! You need to start rating on GR so i can get a better idea!
Great list Jean! I need to move Ricochet up my TBR list.
Great list Jean!! I have Night Shift Black on my tbr from your previous rec of it. Have read several of your top 10. π
Don’t remember who the h is in Sinful Abandon is. Was she in previous book(s)?
Not one that I could find. I think these characters may have stemmed from another project, but not a full length novel.
I read four of your honorable mentions and not a single one of your top list! Can you believe that? I’m going to have to check some of those out
You did have a broken heroes list! Some of these are on my TBR but the one that stood out the most to wanna read is Night Shifts Black. I had no idea it involved a broken rocker. That has me salivating to read it.
Wasn’t Law of Moses awesome? π
I’m like you Michelle S. I’ve read 3 of the honourables and NONE of the main list! More goodies for me to check out. Yay! Thanks Jean π
Love your list Jean. And tou are like my book twin….no cheating…no years kept apart…no death books (well hardly any death books).
Oh. And I loved Lovers Lament too.
Yay! Thanks guys for all your comments!
R, I finished Sinful Abandon last night! Loved it! Cheryl, it was about Heather, she used to work for Alexander Asher. And I loved Wild Abandon Christmas with Nate and Crystal…… they are both short novellas that I wish would have been longer!
Bev, of course you will like Wild Abandon because I said so! Lol You shoild start with Pure Abandon though.
Jen, I could reread A Lover’s Lament right now!
Jennifer, yes, you MUST READ Ricochet!
Cheryl, NSB and Tracing Holland were so well done! Tessa, I think you would love them too!
Jan, hope you find something you love from my list!
Yes Lisa, we definitely like a lot of the same books!
Thanks for posting my list Maryse!
Wow! The only thing from main list I read was Pure Abandon. Some of these sound really good for when I’m in “emotional book” mood.
Oh my gosh, late to the party! :-O
But I’ve read several on your list. π All great ones. I also want to read a couple more. Night Shifts Black in particular.
Thank you for sharing this awesome list.
Jean
So happy you liked Womanizer”.
Now you need to read the rest of the series. Saint from Manwhore is my favorite! Give him a try too. Great list
Jean! How are our lists so DIFFERENT??????????? HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE CHEATING???????
Thanks Leslie….pick a winner from my list!
Yes Fabi, read NSB!
Julie, I want to read about Saint! Moving it up on my list!
Ela, I don’t know! But I could be a hypocrite since I just started the new Rachel Van Dyken book called Cheater and I AM LOVING IT!
Love the list Jean!!!
I’ve only read 1, The Law of Moses, but several are on my tbr list. Is The Fire Between Hi &Lo a standalone? I feel like this was on my list once and I forgot all about it! Love this list!
Thanks D.G.!
Tasha, yes, The Fire Between Hi & Lo is a standalone…..each book from the series is a standalone which I love! And the stories are awesome! Enjoy!
Jean. My book twin! I have read several of yours…but, for the most part, I have just added a WHOLE bunch to my amazon wish list LOL!
Would you believe I haven’t read an Emma Scott or an Amy Harmon book?!? Gah, where have I been? Excellent list my friend!
Thanks to you and to you, as always Maryse! Xoxo!
WHAT?!?!?!?
Yeah, WHAT????
WHAT?!?!?!? You haven’t read Rush by Emma Scott or the follow-up novella???? What is wrong with you?!?!? And every single Amy Harmon book rocks my world!! Get on it girl!! You are a fast reader!
*stomps feet and screams* RUSH RIGHT NOW GREY!!! *drops mic*
Ditto
Great list Jean…I read a few of them and agree that they are wonderful…some of them that I have not read I will certainly be looking into!
Yay Theresa! Thank you!
I recently read Rush, it is FABULOUS!!!
That one has been slowly inching it’s way up my tbr even though when it first came out I said hell no. I want to read Emma Scott.
