I have just a few more “Best of 2016” Reader Favorites and Nancy’s list is next!! Quite a few that I enjoyed, but I’m especially excited about the “new-to-me” books on here!!
She says:
“This list is not posted by favorite, but by the order I read, and if more than one book by author will be listed together.”
1.) Secondhand Smoke (Dartmoor Book 4) by Lauren Gilley <— I’ve been in book love with this series ever since reading Fearless last year. This is Aiden & Sam’s story.
2.) Snow In Texas (Lean Dogs Legacy Book 1) by Lauren Gilley <— This is a spin off series from Dartmoor. It is Colin’s story, and he just happens to be Mercy’s half-brother.
3.) Tastes Like Candy (Lean Dogs Legacy Book 2) by Lauren Gilley <— Erek Snow, better know as Candyman & Vice president of the Texas Chapter of the Lean Dogs, now serving as President, was not one to waste talent that can benefit his club. So if “Little” Michelle Calloway can benefit his club, then so be it. He will not waste using ‘any’ of her talents.
4.) THE FISH TALES SERIES by Suanne Laqueur <— three book series that will tear your heart out!
5.) Black Widow by Lauren Runow <— What can I say about this book except it is intense, suspenseful, erotica romance, two broken lost souls involved with a murder mystery, scorching hot with plot twist and turns.
TWO BOOK SERIES
5.) Never Tear Us Apart by Monica Murphy
6.) Never Let You Go by Monica Murphy
7.) Sparrow by L.J. Shen <— Sparrow doesn’t know if her new “husband” is her hero or worst nightmare, but since everyone is afraid of him, she knows not to cross him.
8.) Ginger’s Heart (a modern fairytale) by Katy Regnery <— (All my Book Buddies know how much I love her). This book is part of her Adult Fairytale Series and and the most “emotional”! It is loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood. At times I was an emotional wreck!!
9.) Dark Sexy Knight (a modern fairytale) by Katy Regnery <— another Modern Fairytale based on The Legend of Camelot. Colt Lane is the Viking Knight at a medieval dinner theater, and a reluctant knight in shinning armor in his real life. This book reminded me of the first of the fairytale THE VIXEN AND THE VET (one of my all time favorites).
10.) Stuck-Up Suit by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward <— Last year Cocky Bastard by these two ladies was on my Best Books of 2015, and this book made this year’s list.
11.) A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole <— I was stunned by the power of this book. This is one of the most emotional books I have ever read. The “Forever and Always” love story of Rune and Poppy is the best I ever read, but all so the saddest.
12.) Wild Abandon by Jeannine Colette <— This is her third book in her Abandon Series and I have read them all, but this is my favorite. They are standalone, but read them all because they are good, starting with Pure Abandon. She also has released in December a Wild Abandon Christmas Novella. Fun to catch up with Nate & Crystal.
13.) Virtually Impossible (Once and Forever Book 2) by Lauren Stewart <— This is Book 2 in the Once and Forever Series, and the highly anticipated sequel to DARKER WATER (one of my favorite books of 2015). Both books are standalone.
14.) Eminent Love by Leddy Harper <— This is the first book I ever read by Leddy, but have become a big fan and have now read six more or her books. This book is a beautiful love story told in the Then and Now.
15.) It Ends with Us: A Novel by Colleen Hover <— This book is so good, and my favorite of Colleen’s books. I’ve been a fan ever since Maryse recommended SLAMMED.
16.) Win Some, Lose Some by Shay Savage <— This was so good, and Shay is such a a versatile writer. Matthew Rohan was born with a mild form of Autism, and this is a subject very close to my heart.
17.) From Sand and Ash by Amy Harmon. I have read every book by Amy and so I received this on release day. It is a beautiful written story, but the persecution of Jews is such a serious subject, and Christmastime can be a depressing time for some. I lost my mother way too young December 10th and my father and grandmother’s birthdays are December 16th. I miss them so even after all this time. What I’m trying to say is that this book is very good, and I think the holidays are over and give it a try.
18.) DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH SERIES by Elisa Marie Hopkins <— Stephanie is my Best Book Buddy …the Series she gifted me and we talked about after reading for a solid month. She even sent questions to the author and I have pages from the author of answers to the series.
I adore finding new-to-me Indie authors so here are a few I found this year:
- Lead Me From Solitude and From Solitude (Ghosts of the Past Series Book 1) by Lainy Bradshaw
- TRIGGER: A Motorcycle Club Romance Novel by Meg Jackson
- Preacher: Rapid City Stories by Dahlia West
- Slip of the Tongue by Jessica Hawkins
- Night Shifts Black (NSB Book 1) by Alyson Santos
- She Dims the Stars by Amber L. Johnson
- Unseen Messages by Pepper Winters
- American Bad Boy: A Military Romance by Eddie Cleveland

Great list Nancy☺
I love, love, love The Dartmoor series!! I can’t wait for American Hellhound, Ghost and Maggie’s story.
I’ve read a lot of the same books you’ve mentioned.
Great little!
Thanks for sharing. 🙂
I have read none of these, lol. Have read some of the author’s before.
Really need to try Gilley, she keeps showing up in these post.
I love some of these! Thanks Nancy. I had Tastes Like Candy in my 2016 top 10 as well 😀 I loved The Skeleton King too. I like Katy Regnery as well, but haven’t read the ones you list. I’m going to check those out ASAP. I had her new CR, JC and the Bijoux Jolies in my top 10 as well. It was really good, and a cut above her other CRs I thought. Have you read her new pnr, It’s You? I’m not sure whether to jump in on that one or not.
bev, you should totally read Lauren Gilley’s MC books. So involving and well written.
Nancy, love that you have Dartmoor series up there. And the Lauren Stewart I had completely forgotten about! I too loved the first, Darker Waters. Great list.
Yes Bev. Read Dartmoor! Such a great series. And while there is a central ‘romance’ in each book there is so much more happening in the ongoing story.
Nancy you have so many great books on your list! I’ve already read a few but have many of them atill on my tbr. I think it’s shuffle time. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your favs.
Great list – I was able to pick some to add some “can’t pass this one up”s to my TBR list!!
Thank-you to Maryse for posting my list. Know it was a long one!! I started a list quite a while ago of Best Books Recommended by Maryse. Kind of an Ode to Maryse List. Someday I will have to finish it!!
Oh I can’t wait to see it, Nancy!! 😀
Oooh, the only one I’ve read is Sparrow and it was good. I’m with Bev and still have to try Gilley.
Tessa, DO IT!
Nancy, great list! Many are my favorites too! But seeing Ginger’s Heart and Dark Sexy Knight just reminded me how much I wanted to read them when I preordered! I love this series by Kate Regnery! Now I HAVE to read these two! Thanks for the reminder!
And I loved the entire Abandon series by Jeannine Colette too. You know there’s another novella right, Sinful Abandon? It was really good too!
I loved Dartmoor and Lean Dogs – Lauren Gilley is an amazing writer. I fall hard for her characters. And you get a nice long story – not some short little book! yipee. Totally agree with your picks there.
Great list Nancy!! I’ve read a couple. 🙂
