Pia snuck in just one day after my “last call” LOL!!! But that’s okay, I’m THRILLED to have another list to post, and it’s so fun to know more about one of our book-friends all the way from Denmark!! π
In fact, let’s check out a few highlights from Pia’s year (via her own comments) π :
Pia (from back in March 2018):Β In Denmark the snow is finally melting and I hope that spring and warmer temperature is around the corner.
Pia:Β Finally Friday and weekend around the cornerΒ Β I have been sick most of the week β and the only good thing about it is, that I could read a lot β not much else to do.
Pia: …it is not always icy here in Denmark. This year we have one of the hottest summers for many years.
Pia:Β Halfway through Friday and struggling with the heat. I would like a light breeze and a cold Pepsi Maxβ¦
And now, Pia’s Best Books of 2018 List:
A few weeks into 2019 I have finally made my βBest of 2018β list.
In no particular order they are:
The Goal (Off-Campus Book 4)Β by Elle Kennedy <— I had been hesitant to read this for a long time. I loved the first three books in the series, but I am not a big fan of babies and pregnancies in books. I donβt really know why as I love them in real life.Β But I loved this book from the start, and looking back I might think it was the best of the four books.
Pia:Β I just finished The Goal by Elle Kennedy yesterday. I read the other 3 in the series last year, but somehow couldnβt start The Goal. I knew it was about Sabrina and her getting pregnant, and I know it sounds weird, but usually I donβt like books, where the heroine gets pregnant or have small children. I donβt get it, because I have 3 children myself and love them more than anything. But not so much in books.
But anyway The Goal really took me by surprise. It might be the best in the series. It was so much fun and easily a 5 star read for me. I would really love to see a series of the next Briar team β Fitzy, Hunter and Hollis and maybe even BrodyΒ
Furious RushΒ by S.C. Stephens <— Thinking back to when I was reading this book my heart starts to beat a bit faster. All that angst nearly gave me a heartattack. I wasnβt sure if my heart would be able to survive the second book, and it nearly didnβt.Β All these feelings I had reading this book (and the second book Dangerous Rush) shows me that S.C. Stephens really is a master. I felt the exact same when reading Thoughtless, and it is rare for me to have these intense feelings when reading a book.
Pia:Β I just finished Furious Rush by S C Stephens and loved everything about that book. Just a little bit of angst, the slow burn between Hayden and Kenzie, and everything is just heading for the HEA. Until the last page and now my heart beats faster just thinking about starting book 2 Dangerous Rush. I have a very strong feeling where book 2 will take us, and Iβm not sure I can handle that. Iβm really nervous but sure I have to start it. I loved Thoughtless and it had a lot of angst too, so hopefully I will survive Dangerous RushΒ
A Little Bit Like Love and A Little Bit Like Desire by Brooke Blaine <— Best m/m read of the year.Β Iβm really looking forward to the third book from South Heaven.
Path of DestructionΒ by Cara Dee <— Cara Dee is a new-to-me author in 2018. I have read several of her books β some I love and some not so much. But Path of Destruction was so full of angst and from the first page I couldnβt put it down. Being about a famous rock star β the good and the bad. This is about sex, drugs and rockβn roll but also about forgivness and second chance love.
The Opposite of You (The Opposites Attract Series Book 1)Β by Rachel Higginson <— This one had been on my tbr for a long time. So many of you had it on your Best of list last year (or was it the year before?)Β I still feel like I know that food truck from the inside and out.
Getaway GirlΒ and Runaway GirlΒ by Tessa Bailey <— Another new-to-me author. I have read another 3 books by her this year, and they could easily be on this list as well. I had a bit of a dislike towards Naomi in the first book, but reading The Runaway Girl made me understand all her actions. They were brilliant.
Cry BabyΒ by Ginger Scott <— I wasnβt hooked from the start, because basketball is a major part of this book. Iβm not opposed to sports books, but they were playing basketball and teaching basketball all the time. But Iβm not one to give up a book once I have started it, and Iβm so glad that I didnβt stop.Β Basketball is a huge part of this book, but it is really about a gang member and the new girl on his street, who connect through basketball. I felt his struggle to find β and be β himself.
Pia:Β I finished Cry Baby by Ginger Scott a couple of days ago. I went in blind and it was one of the best reads in a long time. The story is about a gang member and the new girl in the neighborhood. Not your typical HEA but the perfect ending in my opinion. I canβt seem to let this one go. I have startet a new book but I still keep thinking about Cry Baby and wishing I could stay in their world a little longer. I highly recommend this one
ExcessΒ and Predator & Prey: The Phoenix and The FireΒ by Kate Stewart <— I love Kate Stewart and have read almost all her books. Heartbreak Warfare is on my tbr for 2019.Β Excess and Predator & Prey have interconnecting characters and I would recommend reading Excess first. All three books are pretty dark and HOT β the kind of hot and steamy that leaves you breathless. This is really my kind of book.
Blind Kiss: A NovelΒ by Renee Carlino <— I rarely cry when reading af book, but somehow I always end there when reading a book by Renee Carlino. This one was so sweet and heartbreaking at the same time.
The Studying Hours: How to Date a DouchebagΒ 1+2 by Sara Ney <— I donβt know why I havenβt read these years ago. They were so much fun.
In honorable mention:
- GhostedΒ by JM Darhower
- Neighbors (A Twin Estates Novel Book 1)Β by Stylo Fantome
- In HarmonyΒ by Emma Scott
- Down by Contact (The Barons Book 2)Β by Santino Hassell
- Most of All You: A Love StoryΒ by Mia Sheridan
- DisgraceΒ by Brittainy Cherry
- Moto: A MFM Menage RomanceΒ by M. Never

Pia are there a lot of Danish romance authors?
Thanks for sharing Pia. I’ve read and liked a few of yours. Have you read any more in the Opposites Attract series? I really liked #2 The Difference Between Us.
Great list! Thank you…adding a few to my TBR.
Thanks for sharing, Maryse, even though I past the due date π
Bev, we have a few Danish romance authors, but only SJ Hooks made it internationally.
Jan, I haven’t read other books in the Opposites Attract series. But as I loved the first in the series I want to read the next as well.
Lots of variety up there! π I forgot about Getaway Girl. Also, why haven’t I read the S.C. Stephens?!?!? Is the series complete?
Great list with a lot of my go-to authors!!
There are some really great sounding books in there that I’m going to have to check out! Thanks for sharing Pia!
Great list and descriptions! I forgot about the SC Stephens one too. I think because at the time it wasn’t complete. It is now. Also adding the Kate Stewart books- love her and not sure how I missed those.
Lots of these on my TBR list that I forgot about!
