Pia’s Best of 2016 list is up next, and she’s discovered a new genre that she can’t get enough of. She even gave me a job (she needs an updated list). π I’m ON IT, Pia! LOL!!!
She says:
“2016 has been another great year with so many awesome books. But like previous years too many books and not enough time to read. 2016 was the year where I started reading m/m books. I was hooked from the first book (which was Cara McKenna) and have read several since. I LOVE these books and could really use an update to your list βRecommended M/M Readsβ Maryse
Otherwise I have to say that Iβm not into paranormal or sci-fi or anything related to this genre., and Iβm really not fond of cliffhangers.”
My top 10 in no particular order (except the first one)
1. Colleen Hoover is without a doubt at the top of my list . I was so lucky to meet her at a booksigning in September. π Too LateΒ and It Ends with Us: A NovelΒ are both awesome and it is hard to decide which is my favorite. IEWU was so emotional but Too Late so different from her other books. It really took me by surprise and I loved the way it was published .
2. A Meredith Walters β Find You in the DarkΒ and Light in the Shadows (Find You in the Dark Book 2). She is one of my all time favorite authors. She never disappoints and all her books have been 5* reads to me.
3. Keri Lake β Ricochet (A Vigilantes Novel). OMG did I bite my nails and hold my kindle so I literally left finger marks on the cover. So much angst that it caused a rise in my blood pressure during the book. But I loved it all the way.
4. Sarina Bowen/Elle Kennedy βΒ Him. The ultimate M/M read. This story gave me everything Iβm looking for in a M/M book – the friendship, Jamies struggle and Ryans guilt . Book 2 β Us (Him Book 2)Β β was a bit disappointing, but I guess no matter how it turned out it would be impossible to reach the hights of Him.
5. Lindy Zart β Unlit Star. This is definitely a book to the list βWhat to read after Me Before Youβ. The storyline is nothing like MBY, but the emotions you go through while reading are quite the same. I cried and cried but it was such a beautiful story.
6. Megan Erickson /Santino Hassellβ Fast Connection (Cyberlove Book 2). Another awesome M/M read.
7. Sylvia Day β One with You: A Crossfire Novel (Crossfire Series Book 5). The conclusion to the series was all I hoped for. I was quite disappointed in book 4 and wasnβt sure whether I would read the last book in the series. But I did and I am so glad I did it.
8. Renee Carlino β Swear on This Life: A Novel. This book is shifting between past and present, and reading the βpastβ chapters I felt the storyline was quite similar to It Ends With Us, which is shifting between past and present as well. Starting a Renee Carlino book you have some high expectations and this one did not disappoint.
9. Melanie Walker β Never Me (TAT: A Rocker Romance Book 5). The conclusion to the TAT Rocker series. Saving the best for last and this was Noahs story. We had to wait a long time for this final book, but it was so worth the wait.
10. E.K. Blair β Author Anonymous. This was a hard one to read and I found it so difficult to let it go afterwards. I really felt her struggle and understood her indecisiveness, and I have to say that I hoped for a different ending.
Follow ups:
11. Cara McKenna β Ruin Me
12. Bella Jewel β ‘Til Death – Boxed SetΒ (book one and two)
13. Cherrie Lynn βΒ Rock Me (Ross Siblings Book 2)
14. M. Mabie βΒ Bait (The Wake Series Book 1)
15. Karina Halle βΒ Heat Wave
“I know I am cheating with the last 5 books, but I couldnβt help it”
Check out MORE of Pia’s favorites:
I just jumped on the MM bandwagon this year too thanks to Fabi and I LOVED Him! And yeah, Us was just OK, but I expected that. Great list!
Great list Pia.
I’ve only read 2 of them so definitely some I have to check out.
Ok….I have to rec:
Simon vs The Homosapiens Agenda
Captive Prince
Strawberries for Desert
Carry On
Goodie. Another top 10 list! Thanks Pia. I have started reading a few mms now too, thanks to Fabi, really π Before, they felt too taboo and forbidden for me, like someone might be reading over my shoulder and judging me. But now I’ve read a few and only feel a little frisson of guilt LOL. So, I liked Him, but didn’t bother with Us. Sounds like it was no biggie anyway. (Hey, that sounded ruder than I intended LOL). I flovved the Captive Prince trilogy. Pia I agree with bev, I’m thinking you might like it, if you haven’t gone there already…….
Great list!! I have read a few of yours, Pia! It Ends With Us, Ricochet, Author Anonymous, and Bait were all top notch in my opinion too. And several more are on my short list. Thank you for such a well thought out list!!
And Maryse, you’re the best hostess with the mostest LOL! Thank you xoxox!
Thanks for bringing my list, Maryse π 90% of the books I read are recommendations from all of you in this group. You are awesome π
I started reading m/m due to Fabi as well π
When the first book in the Captive Prince series was released it caught my attention. But as I hate cliffhangers I figured I would wait until all the books were released. But I guess it slipped my mind again. Thanks for the reminder π
I have thought about Lilah Pace – His Royal Favorite/His Royal Secret as well. Anyone read those?
Thanks for the rec, Bev – I’m off to Amazon to check them out π
Okay, a lot of smileys in that comment LOL
Hi Pia, great list. I’ve read several as you probably already know. π
I’m feeling like a trendsetter. hahahaha In 2015 several people read some of my sci-fi recs and in 2016 several of you read my mm recs. And here I sit, shy lil ol me in my house with books for company. Love you guys!
bev, you’ve read Strawberries for Dessert? That’s been sitting in my tbr so long it has a named chair in there.
I found Cara McKenna – Ruin Me from you list “The Ultimate Cara McKenna List” Maryse. I read it in January 2016, but it seems as it is no longer available on Amazon π
Fabi, yes it was on my 2015 favorites list. Along with Simon and Carry On.
I really enjoyed it. The physical happens fast but the emotional is a slow build and I like that.
That’s me favorite kind of love story.
Really great list…thanks for sharing:)
I’ve been wanting to read Ricochet. I own Bait. I have to say, though, I haven’t read any of these, but quite a few look intriguing, like Rock ME. Thanks Pia!
Wrong one. *sighs* This one I meant to ask Maryse if she’s read the Dexter books. Reading this review brought the series to mind, and I can see you liking it.
. *kicks ground* I guess I did post it in the right spot. We need a delete and edit button badly.
I read Ricochet. I thought it was really good.
Great list Pia. I’ve read several and others I want to add to my tbr!!
Love your list, Pia!
I loved what you put for numbers 1 and 2…obviously IEWU has received a ton of well-deserved love here, but Find You In the Dark and Light In the Shadows needs some attention as well because they are great!
And Author Anonymous was so…so…*OOMPH!!*
Amy, so glad to see that I am not the only one who love A. Meredith Walters. Have you read Lead Me Not and Follow Me Back as well?
