It’s Saturday, which means it’s time once again for a “reader favorites” list, and Tracey is up! Did you know that Tracey’s been a part of our crew since 2012? So you know her favorites are probably right up our alley. π And here’s something else about Tracey. She specifically sent us THIS list (right below) but once upon a time (last year) she commented and posted another list (completely different from this one) that I think will fit wonderfully, here. It’s her “Ten books that have stayed with me in some way⦔ list…Β so I’m adding it, too!
TWO FOR ONE!! YAY US!
First… her TOP TEN FAVORITES (or as she spells it… “favourites” – where are ya from, Tracey? Oh!! She told us once in a comment that she’s from the UK) π
“ok here are my main to go books as in if i had them in print they would be worn out!Β Could add so many more ( oh and all spelling mistakes are my own πΒ ) –Β Tracey“
- Cut & Run (Cut & Run Series Book 1)Β by Abigail Roux and Madeleine Urban ( Ty and Zane = me drooling)
- HellerΒ by JD Nixon ( major achievement for this book as i got my non reader bezzy hooked on it)
- Love In TouchΒ by Lucy May Lennox ( sweet)
- Happy Hour (Racing on the Edge Book 1)Β by Shey Stahl ( I lay the blame on you for this choice Maryse one of the first books off your blog that I read )
- The Hanover Square AffairΒ by Ashley Gardner

And while I’m at it, here’s her “Ten books that have stayed with me in some way⦔ list and she reminds us…
“Not in order ( would be too much like picking favourite child)”
- Jane Eyre (Xist Classics)Β byΒ Charlotte BrontΓ« <— She has said: “This is a bit like picking my favourite child β¦β¦however hand on heart I can say Jane Erye reason being? I read it at school for my english lit exam and fell in love with my first ever book boyfriend Mr.Rochester, bless him he helped me out at quite a few job interviews etc later in life when I had to write about my favourite hobby which will never change ..reading. lately there have been a few books to challenge my all time favourite but its still there holding the number 1 spotΒ “
- Me Before You: A NovelΒ by Jojo Moyes ( it stayed with me so much i havent managed to re read it, one day maybe)Β <— sidenote from Maryse: Yep me too! One of my absolute FAVORITES!!!

- Gabriel’s InfernoΒ byΒ Sylvain Reynard

- Love In TouchΒ byΒ Lucy May Lennox <— Sidenote from Maryse: Ooooh this one made both of her lists!! π
- TwilightΒ byΒ Stephenie Meyer
- Cross Stitch (Outlander)Β by Diana Gabaldon <— This is the UK edition of “Outlander: A Novel (Outlander, Book 1)Β which is now the official name of this book. π
And while I’m at it… here are other books Tracey has mentioned “big love” for, in past comments:
- Night Owl (The Night Owl Trilogy Book 1)Β by M. Pierce <— “Loved Night Owl, really recommend it. Only put it down when my kindle battery started to protest that it was running lowΒ Β other than that I was glued.”
- Moon: 10 (New Species)Β by Laurann Dohner <— “Moon read in one sitting which equals not much sleep.Worth every drop of caffine im going to need todayΒ “
- Interview with a MasterΒ by Jason Luke <— “Another new release is Interview with a Masterβ by Jason Lukes, downloaded and read in about 4 hours! BDSM written from a mans pov by a male author . Took my mind of the horrible weather we are havingΒ “
- King of Me (The King Trilogy, Book 3)Β by Mimi Jean PamfiloffΒ <— “Finished King of Me and it is a easy 5 star read, if you have read the first couple of books there is a twist in it which made me squee in delightΒ “
- Painted FacesΒ by L.H. Cosway <— “…Β ive re read Painted faces on a few occasions now ( its one of my go to books when im in a book slump)“
Do you have a “Top Favorite Books” list?Β Don’t forget to send me yours!! I post one every Saturday (send it here:Β https://www.maryse.net/contact-me). You can make it just a list (top 10 or more) but if you want to include a tiny (or longer) tidbit next to each one about why you loved it, that would be awesome, too! π
I gotta admit, I have only read 3 of the first 10 (6,7,10), but I read 6 out of 10 of the next, and 4 out of 5 of the last group!!! So I would say we have very similar taste, but I have some great new ones to check out too.
I can’t believe how many on that first list are totally new to me. Never even heard of them!!!
And I have to ask Tracey: did you read all the Highlanders? And all of the Outlander series?
I know! I was SO excited that it was a whole slew of new books for us… she obviously has similar tastes (Night Owl, and Me Before You and a few obvious others) but… I’m intrigued by the new ones. π
And Heller is free. Never heard of it but it sounds good! I admit, I haven’t read most of these. King trilogy, Gabriel’s Inferno, The Hobbit, Flowers in the Attic, and Twilight are it. I started Hidden Elements and Interview with a Master, but never finished them.
So a bunch of news and a BUNCH of reminders that.. *ducks*
Jane Eyre!!!!!
Would definitely be at the top of my list. Jane rocks as a heroine. She knows who she is and stands by it. I haven’t re-read it for a couple years, may be time to.
I have had Cut & Run, The Hanover Square Affair and Hidden Fire sitting in my library forever. I really need to bump them up. Have you been to Wales? It looks like it would be so beautiful.
Love in Touch I want. π
Can I just say I’m impressed you stayed within 10, I don’t think I could.
Yay Tracey, The Elemental Mysteries series is on my list also. Major love for the series.
Oh yeah! I have several to pick from on this list. *happy dance*
I’m from North Wales uk ( take note if you read Elemental mysteries it’s North not Northern ) π
OK, so, out of Tracey’s Top 10 Favourites I’ve only read 1 (#10). I have my reading cut out for me on this list. I’m going to line up
1. Heller (freebie)
2. Love Unscripted (Maryse agrees squeee)
3. Bitten & Smitten (sounds like fun)
and…
I need one more to complete my 5…help
Yes Michelle I’ve read all of both Highlanders and Outlander series loved em both .Can I just throw in that the Lord John series which is a series to be read after book 4 of Outlander is also a favourite but I was trying to be good and stick to ten books …
Fabi, Cut and Run is an M/M novel. *dangles temptation* One that also hit the best of the romances on Goodreads…
Fabi, #1 is in my library cause that series gets a ton of love.
Tracy, I would love to see it some time, looks gorgeous. Makes me think of How Green is my Valley. Do you speak Welsh?
Thank you Tessa and Bev!!! Cut & Run just moved up to the #1 spot reading order for Tracey’s favorites.
You guys are awesome
Tracey, I am SO looking forward to reading your favs.
Bev I consider my self lucky that I’ve grown up here it’s rather hilly and quite green ( imagine the fields like a patchwork quilt ) only downside it rains ..a lot ! I’m afraid I only know a smattering of Welsh which is appalling really considering that it was spoken as a main language by my dad’s side of the family .
What a great mix of books! Lumping together Love Unscripted and The Tied Man in your favorites list…yep, I like your tastes. π
I bought Me Before You probably two years ago and keep waiting for the mood to strike to read it. You know what? I’m just going to jump in and start it this weekend. Thanks for the reminder, Tracey!!
Hi Tracey. Whereabouts in N Wales are you from? I come from Manchester (now living in NZ) but always holidayed along the N Wales coast. I have some very happy memories from there π
BTW – I love it when I find books set in and around Manchester, so that I can pick apart and shout at the details too, haha.
I went ahead and finally bought Love Unscripted. Why haven’t I before now? It’s the type of book I love. Also, the Tall, Dark and Lonely since I adore PNR stuff as well as her Neighbor from Hell series.
*pops Amy on the head with a peanut or 5*… for Me Before You.
Seriously Amy? Seriously? REALLY??????? π
Me Before You is at my library. I just requested it. I know that it never appealed, but I can’t say yeah or meh until I read it.
Tracey, I like your list, there are so many that I haven’t heard of before. That’s what I love about these readers lists- I find new books to read that I may not have read otherwise.
I have read Outlander, Flowers in the Attic, Night Owl, Gabriel’s Inferno (read when it was fanfiction), The Tied Man and Love Unscripted- did you read the sequel Love Unrehearsed…loved both!
I haven’t read Me Before You either. I’ve been afraid of it. I did see that the sequel, After You, is being released Sept. 29.
Ow Maryse!!!! *rubs head* I said I was gonna read it this weekend!
*kicks MBY peanuts out of the way*
*picks peanuts up off the floor and eats ’em*
You guys are nuts.
Amy’s all “Woohoo. I’m ugly crying this weekend.”
And Maryse is egging you on all, “Do it Amy. Do it.”
If you two meet in Vegas one of you is so waking up married to a stranger.
bahahabahaha
*can’t breathe*
bahahabahaha
Bev!!!
*holding stomach*
*gasp*
bahahaha
Give me a minute..I’ll brb
*snicker, snort*
Their husbands might be a little upset about that.
OMG THAT WOULD BE SO CRAZY!!!!
NEXT… YEAR.
*raises an eyebrow*
Oh right…
π
LOL!!!!!
You’ll just have to have poor, unsuspecting Bev be the guinea pig. You can marry her off to a stranger. That sound good, Bev?
Fabi, lol
Tessa…….um, No. Unless it’s Mal. π
Maryse, lol. It makes a great meet cute.
And that was David’s book but Mal is my favorite.
That was great Bev!! LOL!!!! Does seem crazy to be all happy about reading an ugly cry book. *makes me think Bright Side all over again, but hey Vegas sounds good* π
BLAHAHAHAHA!!!! That was awesome Bev!!! LOL!! *snort*
Although, I have already done the whole getting married in Vegas thing and it turned out pretty well. π
I know what!! Next year…Vegas…Maryse is gonna wake up with a tattoo on her hip that says Mrs. Maddox. I am SO paying for that tat! π
Lots of good ones on your list Tracey!!! I have read most of them!!! I was just thinking about Heller the other day and how much I loved that series π
Sofia Im in the county of Flintshire not far from the coast, and wow so chuffed that you all like my book list/ lists π Thanks Maryse you made me a very happy book nerd this weekend xx
Wow lots of books on Tracey’s lists I haven’t read! Me Before You and Gabriel’s Inferno are two that I’ve had downloaded for forever and haven’t read yet but really want to! These lists are great! It’s like a whole new world has just been opened up to me! Lol!!
Thanks Tracey and Maryse!!!
Tee hee Amy!!!! On my hip huh? YIKES!!!! π
I Love your lists, Tracy π And I also like that I have a “book sister” from this blog who is also from Europe π Yay! I read the two first King books, but I have not read King of me, yet. I guess I should now that I see that you have put it on your list π
Love your list Tracey!! Do you recommend the entire Pyte/Sentinel series? Love the author of her Neighbors from Hell series!!! Love Unscripted series and Gabriel’s Inferno series also top reads for me! The Tied Man made me hurt!!! Soooo many on my tbr list! Thanks for your recommendations!!
Cheryl yes I’ve read and loved both books in the love unscripted series π
Marit I like the idea of having a book sister π
Linda I really liked the first couple of Pyte/ Sentinel books but then I kind of lost my way with them I need to have a ‘re read which really won’t be a hardship.
Yep Maryse, on the hip…isn’t that where Abby got her Mrs. Maddox tattoo? π
*sigh* I get a fluttery feeling when I think of Ryan and Tarryn in the Love series.
Is the love series Love unscripted?? I still need to read it…….. And have had it forever!
Oh, okay. I see how it is. I get nailed in the head with peanuts for not reading MBY yet but Jean can stroll on in here saying she hasn’t read Love Unscripted and nothin’ happens to HER?? Fine then…
*throws two Love peanuts at Jean*
That’s one for Love Unscripted and one for Love Unrehearsed. And while I’m at it, here’s one for Love Unguarded that isn’t even out yet!!! *throws another peanut*
Haha Amy! You are more fun to pick on!
Okay, I’m in between books so *catching your peanuts* and starting Love Unscripted right now! So there!
(Oh, are you liking MBY?)
*squeals and claps hands*
Jean, you’re going to LOVE Ryan and Tarryn!! π I’m starting MBY right now. I have been tied up with stuff and wanted to make sure when I start it that I won’t have to stop if I don’t want to. I have hours ahead of me now with nothing to do but read!
Yep, I started it. Only 40 pages in. It’s long…. 657 pages! But it’s good so far!!!
Jean, I haven’t had a lot of reading time this weekend, so I’m only about a third of the way into SoT. But I have so say, the writing is phenomenal.
WHO hasn’t read Love Unscripted yet? Whhhhaaaaaaaaaaaa?
That’s an original JEAN!!!!! *snort* π
*lops peanut at Jean’s nose*
I’m at 80-something % of my 800+ page read…
alienist there my friends…
Er…? Alienist?
LOL!!!!
I meant ALMOST, but sure, why not, autocorrect? That makes sense! π
Go home autocorrect. You’re drunk!!!!
Uh huh. Sure. Auto Correct is drunk.
Mmhmm.
bahahaha Maryse got her autocorrect drunk
—only on this blog—
I laugh so much!
I just finished Manwhore. Thanks for that post Maryse. It was great!! Slow-burn relationship, bad-boy H, and Angst. So glad book 2 is out, because it ends with a CH. Now on to book 2…
Alienist… Haha that was great! Autocorrect is always drunk!
I’m reading it now Maryse and loving it! I don’t know why I waited so long!
Fabi, glad to hear you are liking SoT! The writing is amazing… wish she would write more!
Maryse, I’m at 75%. It’s raking forever, but I love it. It totally reminds me of an en entire season (or two) of Sons of Anarchy. Some of the story elements are almost identical (town cop who holds a torch for the Queen of the MC, that type of thing). I am also totally in love with Mercy. All 6 foot 5 of him and his French sweet talk with the hint of Cajun when he gets lovey dovey.
NOW who is blaming their autocorrect, huh? π
Hey, at least the Love Unscripted peanuts worked though…I knew you would love it Jean!
And speaking of love, I am absolutely *loving* MBY. Go ahead and say “I told ya so” because y’all are right! The fact that she is having to really work at getting through to Will along with the gravity of his situation are balanced so well with her comical family dynamics and her word vomit and frequent awkwardness. I know this is supposed to be an ugly-cry book, but fortunately I haven’t read any spoilers so I know things could go either way…and I LOVE that I don’t know what the outcome is going to be. π
Good to hear about MBY Amy! I haven’t read any spoilers on that one either or even know what it’s about so I’d be going in blind too.
Love Unscripted….. Ahhhh….I am just loving this book! I love these people!
M’kay, so the family dynamics are a bit more serious and less comical now but still such a great addition.
And Will. *sigh* I love the relationship that is building between him and Lou. Gah, I love the writing! So many things, major and minor, going on but they all flow so well together because of the writing style.
Jean, that is *exactly* how I was feeling when I read it! And I still remember soooo much about it three years later. I can’t believe that’s how long ago it was! I just checked and saw that I purchased it back in July 2012…that was when I actually read a book as soon as I one-clicked it, before I started hoarding ebooks. π
It’s great Amy and I already had purchased the second book a while ago too so I’ll be ready!
And can I just say one thing……ummm…. hate to beat a dead horse but…..SURVIVING RAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh geez, are we going there?
Sure, okay. How about…ummmm…SWEET GUM TREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! π
Haha! Just kidding! I know when we both eventually break down and I read SGT and you read SR, we will be very happy!! I actually almost started SGT this weekend but then someone threw a whole ton of “love” peanuts at me for Love Unscripted! So I do listen sometimes….*smirking*
I swear, the day we get past this impasse there will be harmonious voices singing and rays of sunshine with glitter in them raining down on this place.
Dramatic? Cheesy? Cut me some slack…I ingested an energy gel pack and I’m all amped up but sitting in my car and stalling going into the gym. π
Lol Amy!!! I don’t think that’s dramatic or cheesy! Now, get to the gym!
I requested MBY from library. Don’t know how it ends up either, but scared about it.
Finished Manwhore and now reading Manwhore+1. Really enjoying them!!
