We are kicking off the weekend, in perfect reading harmony. I FOUND US GOODIES!!! Β Actually… WE found us goodies. π A few brand new releases that were highly anticipated, and this week’s recommendation’s list is really something to behold. Every one of ’em look right up our book-alley.
Seriously. This is one of the best Friday lists. Like that one there to the left. I can’t WAIT to read it. It’s live, and I missed it’s release day, but it wasn’t that long ago, and I am SO ON IT!! But first!! Anything but MinorΒ by Kate Stewart <—Β This is what I’m currently reading (almost done actually) and it has me giggling so hard, I snort!
Maryse: Iβm reading βAnything but Minorβ by Kate Stewart and despite that crazy cover, it is hilarious and so far, so good! Sweet and funny as heck. Goofy things that happen to the heroine (sometimes a it far-fetchedβ¦ but then again maybe not, ya know?) LOL!!!! Either way, itβs working for me.Β I can’t stop laughing… this book. Oh yes. It was exactly what I was looking for. Here’s an example: Β Okay, so she’s on a “platonic date” with the town’s up-and-coming baseball star, and he takes her parasailing and she’s FREAKING out. She’s terrified as he straps her in (but she’s goofy as heck!). And then…
“As soon as I began to rise, a stream poured from between my legs. There was no stopping it.
I peed when I was nervous, excited, or scared.
Like a dog.
I peed.
And I was pretty sure Iβd just slapped Rafe in the chest with it.”*snort*!!!! π The whole book… funny scene after funny scene. SO SO SO GOOD!
Stacy:Β I loved it so much!!!
Sara:Β The fake tan scene had me in stitches laughing πΒ great book!
Linda:Β Anything but Minor by Kate Stewart is outstanding!! Loved it!!! So yummy!! Iβve been on a funny romantic kinda kick and have been happily sated thank you very much!!!
Look what we found!Β (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
- The Hard CountΒ by Ginger Scott <— LIVE!! FOOTBALL STAR ALERT!Β That one up there to the left! Actually this one went live very recently, and I didn’t realize it. YIKES! ‘Cause I just LOVE this author (remember that bully-book, “Wild Reckless“? YES!!!!!) This one sounds angsty and profound and OMG I just LOVE this author!! I want to read this BADLY! They are from two different worlds (her family is wealthy and prestigious, but there’s backstabbing & status is everything)… “In our twisted world, a boy from West End is the only shining light. Quarterback. Hero. Heart. Good. I hated him before I needed him. I fell for him fast. I loved him when it was almost too late. When two ugly worlds collide, even the strongest fall. But my worldβ¦it hasnβt met the boy from West End.”
Michelle: “Love this author and this book!”
VeiledΒ by Karina Halle <— IT’S LIVE!!!!!! KARINA HALLE FANS!!! LOOKIT!!! And if you missed this post, check it out β Karina Halle βVeiledβ Cover Reveal (EIT spinoff) & Q&A. The author says:
Karina Halle: “Itβs a standalone paranormal romance and a spinoff ofΒ EIT. β¦ Yes, itβs about Ada Palomino (all grown up at eighteen, going to college, so itβs technically New Adult)β
- The Drazen World: LUST (Kindle Worlds Novella)Β byΒ Lola Darling <— LIVE!! M/M ROMANCE ALERT!Β And Fabi just found it for us and is excited about it!
Fabi: “I donβt see this new one on your list and Iβm dying to read it: Lust by Lola Darling”
- Dare to RiskΒ byΒ Kara NashΒ &Β Caitlin RicciΒ <— LIVE!! M/M ROMANCE ALERT!! “For successful businessman Bran Wilson, selling the large Montana dairy farm that has been in his family for generations is an easy decision. He hates the farm, the land, even the cows, and wants nothing to do with any of it. But thereβs a glitch in his plan: a stubborn cowboy from New Zealand who is as sexy as he is aggravating…“
- Fish Out of WaterΒ byΒ Amy Lane <— LIVE!! M/M ROMANCE ALERT!!
- Revolution in Time (Out of Time #10)Β byΒ Monique MartinΒ <— LIVE!! TIME TRAVEL ALERT!!
Bully No MoreΒ byΒ Sam CrescentΒ <— LIVE!! HER EX-BULLY BOOK! “Fat. Cow. Chubby. Chunky. Those were just a few names Kurt had called her growing up. He was her bully, and he didnβt care. One chemistry assignment changed everything. Kim refused to give in to him, so he had no choice but to leave. Ten years later, Kimβs stubbornness gives him the chance to show her that he is no longer her bully…” (these characters appeared in her other book called:Β FatΒ – but I *think* they each read as standalones.)
- FatΒ byΒ Sam Crescent <— SHE WANTS TO LOSE WEIGHT & HE WANTS TO HELP HER ALERT!!! I figured I’d post this one too, since it sounds so good! “Elsa Quinn has been bullied for being fat all her life. On the start of her new year of school, she makes a decision. She is going to lose weight. Elsa joins a gym out of town to ensure it’s top secret...”
1986: Why Can’t This Be Love (Love in the 80s Book 7)Β byΒ R.K. Ryals <— LIVE!! This series sounds like so much fun (each book is about a “new adult” romance in the 80’s and written by a different author – each one reads as a standalone) “Spring break her junior year is supposed to be Tori Allen’s chance to catch the eye of wicked hot Corey Sanders, the bouncer at The Cube, an eighteen and under club.Β Only what should have been a night to remember turns into a grody tryst that chases her into the arms of inner city boy, Dylan Black.”
- Crushing on Cooper (Camp Firefly Falls Book 3)Β byΒ Violet Vaughn <— LIVE!! SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE ALERT! “Cooper Marshall spent the last decade as the golden boy of snowboarding winning multiple Olympic medals. When he decides to settle down and take a suit-and-tie job, heβs sent on a retreat to Camp Firefly Falls. More than fond memories of the camp await him, and he discovers his childhood crush that got away…”
OneΒ byΒ Jewel E Ann <— LIVE!!! SPINOFF OF THE JACK & JILL SERIES ALERT!! Marina went CRAZY for this series and she’s so excited for this new release! (P.S. Here is theΒ Jack & Jill Series Reading Order)
marina: I hope you can hear me screaming READ IT!!!!! I keep thinking to myselfβ¦ maybe Iβm building it up.? But no, I can confidently say that Iβm not. You will breeze through all 3 and then definitely want to read the new one too! I PROMISE you! In fact once I finish Broken Prince today, Iβm going to do a reread through of the parts of Jack and Jill Series, in particular those with the characters who are in the new book coming tomorrow,Β One. Yay!!! π
Linda: Agreed Marina!!! Jack and Jill series and anything else written by Jewel E. Ann is the best!!!! Automatic. Go. To. Read. For. Me!!!! Cannot wait forΒ One!!!
Rebecca:Β I’m already reading “One” and thinking- ifΒ MaryseΒ doesn’t read Jack and Jill I just don’t know what I’m going to do! READ ITTTTTTTTTTTT!
- Air Awakens (Air Awakens Series Book 1)Β byΒ Elise KovaΒ <— FANTASY ROMANCE ALERT! Danylle couldn’t put it down!
Danylle:Β “Hi Maryse, I have another book to recommend. It’s called Air Awakens (Air Awakens Series) by Elise Kova. Its the first book in a series of 5… Air Awakens has the perfect blend of fantasy and romance. This book is amazing. I’ve become increasingly picky about which books I purchase, but this book was a no-brainer. I one clicked, then spent most of my day engrossed in the book.”
BossmanΒ by Vi Keeland <— #1 NYT BEST SELLER ALERT!!! And yes it’s back on the list ’cause that’s something to celebrate and so many here LOVED it, too!
Jean: reading Bossman by Vi Keeland right nowβ¦.itβs really good and H is really loveable!
Fabi: Finished Bossman. 5 stars for me. Vi Keeland wrote the perfect boyfriend. I need to put her books in my feel-good category. They never fail to make me happy.
Linda: Bossman and Cream of the Crop equally perfect. 5*!!!!!!
Candace:Β Just finished this and it was wonderful!
Thoughtful (Thoughtless)Β by S.C. Stephens <— KELLAN KYLE/ROCK STAR/ANGSTY-EST LOVE TRIANGLE IN THE WORLD ALERT!!!! This is HIS book… and it’s super-bargain priced. “Kiera is the kind of girl Kellan has no business wanting-smart, sweet, and dating his best friend. Certain he could never be worthy of her love, he hides his growing attraction . . . until Kiera’s own tormented heart hints that his feelings might not be one-sided…“
Leslie: My fave I read in April was Thoughtful. Aaaaaaaaahβ¦.Kellan *swoon* Kyle. It took me this long to get courage to read it and it gutted me. I canβt even express in words how much I freaking love him. I think I need therapy because he is real in my mind.
Cheryl: Just finished Thoughtful *sigh Kellan*
- This Man (This Man Trilogy Book 1)Β byΒ Jodi Ellen Malpas <— BROODING BULLY BILLIONAIRE ALERT!!! and it’s on super bargain!! SO MANY both hated and LOVED this “hero” and are hooked because of him.
Lisa: If weβre βI licked so heβs mineβ with book boyfriends Iβve hot dibs on Jesse from This Man. Total head#$%&. Contraceptive hiding, control-freakery, bordering on sociopathic and at times begging for a nutpunch. But I couldnβt get enough.
Jean:Β Love This Man series! It seriously does not get the credit it deserves!
Leila:Β This Man is amazing!! Jesse Ward (the protagonist) is soooo Hot and heβs full of secrets and surprises and the novel has a very good plot along with numerous steamy hot scenes. He had me hooked from start to finish. MUST READ!!
- First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson Book 1)Β byΒ Darynda JonesΒ <— FUNNY PARANORMAL AND EVERYONE THAT READS IT LOVES IT ALERT! Theresa found two that she loved!!
Theresa: “First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones…..SOOOOOOOOO GOOD! Β The h in this series is smart, sassy, and witty! Β The storyline is intriguing and engaging. Β The H is SEXY (All CAPS necessary!!!) and definitely dangerous (who knew evil could be so heavenly)! Β I look forward to reading the rest of this series…I am HOOKED!”
- The Problem with Forever (Harlequin Teen)Β byΒ Jennifer L. ArmentroutΒ <— JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT ALERT! Theresa is LOVING this one!!
Theresa: “The Problem with Forever by Jennifer Armentrout….I am a little over 50% mark and I am loving it!Β A beautiful and captivating story about survival, love, and discovering one’s true strength. The h and H have an amazing connection and steamy chemistry…definitely YA but due to the issues they face reads almost like a New Adult. I highly recommend this read! Enjoy!”
Curio and the Curio VignettesΒ by Cara McKenna <—Β CARA MCKENNA RE-RELEASES!!!Β MALE ESCORT ALERT!! Wheeee!!! You know a Cara McKenna version of the “male escort story” will have a certain depth and integrity to it that’s more than just a steam-fest. I went crazy for some of these older Cara McKenna books, but they were with a publisher, and priced a little high so I didn’t get to read them all. She has since gotten her rights back, and has created complete series bundles at a bargain price and NOW. NOWWWWWW I get to finish ’em. OMG the Curios series. I fell HARD for book #1 (a virgin that hires a male escort – in Paris – to help her), and it twisted pretty nicely along the way! *ooooomph* and the “vignettes” well… those were the ones I wanted to read badly to see what happened, and now I get to! π (P.S. Here’s my 4.5 star review!!)
Sofia: “How about the Curio series by Cara McKenna? Heβs a Parisian male prostitute, and she falls in love with him. The story plays out over a few books, and alternates her POV then his as the story develops. They are beautiful and heart wrenching :-)”
Kelli: “…the series will forever be one of my top 3 personal favorites. The scene in Curio in which Didier *spoiler*, stands as one of the most intimate scenes Iβve ever read in an erotic romance, and Iβll never forget it. (Common misconception: *not* all erotica is intimate. Caraβs books are excruciatingly so.) …P.s. Fun fact β Caraβs original choice of title for Curio was βRue des Toits Rougesβ β¦ the street on which Didier lives. :)”
Shivaree: The Complete SeriesΒ by Cara McKenna <— CARA MCKENNA M/M/F ROMANCE ALERT!! Here’s another Cara McKenna re-releases all bundled beautifully for us to devour! The first one appears to be M/M but then… as the series goes, a woman shows up. Okay yep… totally up my alley and this is one of my fav authors so I am in! “What follows is not a love story. This is a story about an unforeseen attraction that brings a strong, sane man to his knees, and about lovers tangled up in each other too deep to know whoβs in control and whoβs helpless…”
bev: “Cara Mckennaβs Shivaree books. I have not read the prequel, yet. But in order with prequel is Backwoods, Shivaree, Getaway. I love the way she describes Gabriel and also I think from the little Iβve read of her she is so good at atmosphere…Β music plays a part. Very atmospheric. Somehow I read the last two but never the first one. I just like that word, Shivaree.”
Jennifer: “I second the recs for Cara Mckennaβs mm novellas! They were great. Backwoods, Shivaree, and Getaway were really good…”
- Once We Were BrothersΒ byΒ Ronald H. BalsonΒ <— TWO FRIENDS THAT FIND THEMSELVES ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE HOLOCAUST ALERT! Lindsay went crazy for this one!
Lindsay: “Maryse, just read Once We Were Brothers Although not your typical genre, I know you will love it. Couldn’t put it down for anything…”
Waiting for Wyatt: A Red Dirt NovelΒ byΒ SD Hendrickson <— BLURB-JOLT ALERT!!! SHE FALLS FOR A RECLUSE IN THE WOODS…Β And it’s super bargain priced! “I saw something different in the broken guy all alone out in the woods. I knew he needed me before he knew it himself. Wyatt with his hidden dimples. Wyatt with his warnings to stay away. He was a hard lump of coal, ready to burn everything around him. The more he burned, the more it pulled me into the pain I saw etched on his troubled face. I wanted to help Wyatt. I wanted to save him like he had saved all the Charlies in the world. He told me not to fall for him, but I did anyway. I fell hard and fast and deeply in love with Wyatt Caulfield. But that was before I knew his secret…“
Clare: I’ve read this, it’s superb!
Anne:Β Iβve read 20 books this month and my favorite was Waiting for Wyatt by S.D.Hendrickson…Β it was beautiful. It was heartbreaking but beautiful all the same. It gave me all the feels. A 5 star read for me.
Jodie: Very good book.
Salma: Loved it!
- Eminent LoveΒ byΒ byΒ Leddy HarperΒ <— TEARJERKER ALERT! Back on the list ’cause Kristie LOVED it!!
Kristie: “I don’t usually do this and I haven’t been asked to, I just wanted to reach out about a book that I feel is amazing and isn’t getting the recognition it should Eminent Love by Leddy Harper is AMAZING! Honestly one of the best books I have EVER read, it’s beautiful and heartwarming, it will make you cry, I’m not gonna lie! Lol!”
- Cockpit: A Second Chance RomanceΒ byΒ Joanna Blake <—Β FIGHTER PILOT & THE BABY HE DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT ALERT! AND *OOMPH* WHAT A COVER!!! He’s a fighter pilot and still thinking about the one that got away…”Guess who I run into my first night back? It’s her, my wild-eyed, fiery-haired beauty. Turns out she’s the General’s daughter. But that won’t stop me. I’m persistent and it doesn’t take too long before she’s back in my arms. Only one problem. She’s kept one hell of a secret from me. She had a baby while I was overseas. My baby.” (super-bargain priced!)
- RENEGADE FIREΒ by Jaxson KidmanΒ <— BIKER ALERT & HE USED TO BULLY HER BUT NOW SHE NEEDS HIS HELP ALERT! And it’s super-bargain priced! “It was years ago when I used to pick on the sort-of-ugly girl that lived across the street from me. She was smart though. She got out of town. Me? I stayed. I’m patched into the Bitter Aces MC and we rule the town of Bishop. Nothing or nobody stands in our way…”
- KickedΒ byΒ Celia AaronΒ <—Β HE’S A COLLEGE FOOTBALL STAR ALERT! AND SHE’S ALSO ON THE TEAM… This one is super-bargain priced today…”I watch him from the sidelines. But I know the real him, the one who broke my heart and pretended I didnβt exist for the past two years. Iβm the third-string kicker, the only woman on the team and nothing better than a mascot. Until Iβm not. Until I get my chance to earn a full scholarship and join the team as first-string. The only way I’ll make the cut is to accept help from the one man I swore never to trust again…”
- Arsen: Blacktop Blades MCΒ byΒ Kathryn Thomas <—Β BIKER BOOK ALERT! They found her wandering on the highway… “We picked her up wandering the highway.Β Something about her made me stop.Β Made me take a second look. When I found out what happened to her, something inside of me snapped…” and it’s super-bargain priced today!
- The Pagano Family by Susan Fanetti <— MAFIA FAMILY ALERT! Julie found us this bargain!

Susan Fanetti’s Pagano’s Family series is on sale today. Normally $3.99 each, they are .99 today. I haven’t read any of them yet but loved her Signal Bend series.
YAY!!! Thank you Julie! I’m adding it! π
I don’t see this new one on your list and I’m dying to read it:
Lust by Lola Darling
Yay!!! I added it, Fabi!
Thank you. And thank you for adding the new Amy Lane. She’s a favorite.
Hey everyone! Omg this list is amazing! I must have The Hard Count, like right now! And Veiled, super excited for that. I read the first few chapters on Wattpad and it was awesome, sucked me right back into that world and I got to see Dex and Perry again! π Bossman and Anything but Minor were already on my tbr and looks like I need to bump them up my list. I’ve been MIA with vacation and general busyness the last couple weeks and have been scrambling to get back to reading and catch up on your blog posts. So I read Melody Bittersweet and the Girls’ Ghostbusting Agency and absolutely loved it! I need the next, ASAP. It reminded me some of the Charley Davidson books, seeing ghosts and all. And was humorous (omg a seen with Lestat literally had me clutching my belly from laughing so hard), the mystery was really good, I loved the side characters, Artie and Marina, Gran and her Mom, and the potential love interests kept me thoroughly entertained.
Ok starting Anything but Minor on Maryse’s recommendation.
Starting The Angels’ Share by J.R. Ward.
The Hard Count by Ginger Scott was soooo good. I finished it around 3 this morning. Worth the lack of sleep, for sure lol.
Alright, I’m biting the bullet and reading The Ending I Want by Samantha Towle. I hope I don’t cry.
I hope you do, Tessa. π LOL!!!
I’m reading that one this week, Danielle. It sounds PERFECT!
I have that one, Grey, but I need to catch up on the first one, too.
Yay Tasha!!!!!
We missed you! π I’m curious about that one, so I love that you came back with feedback. That author is already well-loved with a past series not at ALL paranormal, so I get a kick out of the synopsis of this one! π
Nooooo to crying! Yet, it’s exactly what I want to read. My darn mood strikes again.
Still with The Anatomical Shape of a Heart. I mostly watched tv this week and so have not read as much, happy to be back.
Finished Bossman last night and loved it! Vi Keeland never disappoints
So excited for the HP and Colleen Hoover books. Yaay!
It’s Friday night and there’s not a single person mixing drinks around here. Humph *crosses arms* I’m gonna go make myself a Bicardi and 7 just to be ornery.
Tessa, I went into The Ending I Want expecting to go thru a box of kleenex while drinking a bottle of wine and hiding out in the blankie cave. I can say that didn’t happen.
I feel like I’ve been reading the BtB forever and I’m only at 60%. Good read, hilarious laugh-out-loud moments, but I’m ready for the ending.
Not far from the same approx place Jean got bogged down with it.
Cheryl I’m feeling the same way with BtB and I’m at 76% now. Just want to finish and move on. Read My Lips is next for me. It’s calling my name!
Tasha, thanks for that feedback on Melody Bittersweet…..downloaded that the other day and now moving it up on my TBR!
Got a bit distracted by a different book this morn. Forgot I downloaded it until I went to look at my phone this morn. Been reading it since.
It’s YA, I guess though they are both out of high school. Honor ‘ s brother was a marine who died in combat. The story starts at his funeral. He sent her a letter that she gets after he dies. It had two tickets to a concert for her to go to & a road trip in his classic impala before heading to college. His ex best friend, Rusty, invites himself on the road trip. He is sort of the Texas good ol’boy/bad boy, lol. Think i read that he was based off of Riggins from Friday Night Lights. It’s only her pov and really good so far. Just under 200 pages so will probably finish today. Love a road trip book.
That sounds great bev! Name and author?
Lol, Jean. Forgot that part.
In Honor by Jessi Kirby.
Jean, I read that one. Funny I thought it was you that recommended it. Good, although not as angsty as I thought it was going to be.
Cheryl, good, because I really like them. I’m only at 59% currently.
You know I’m now wondering if one of the Max Monroe authors is Helena Hunting. The h in BtB keeps calling the H’s package Supercock. Her filthy, crude humor reminds me of the h in the Pucked series.
I am heads down, trying not to to devour The Angels’ Share by JR Ward. Took me a bit to really like this new series, but I’m 40% into the 2nd book and it’s a keeper.
Anyone here use Kindle Unlimited? Pros, Cons? I’m thinking of giving it a go.
Hi my lovely friends!! *big huge group huggles*
Rough week so I have been around much. Had a patient I work with every day code and not sure if that patient will make it. I wasn’t expecting that in this field. π
I needed some make believe to escape into so I started An Ember in the Ashes…it is really GOOD. π Now to check out the list up there…
OH! Before I forget…ULTA has the Naked Smoky palette on sale for half price!! It’s $27, normally $54. Guys, this palette is amazing!!!! π
Amy, im sorry to hear that. That’s really rough.
That is one of my faves from last year hope it works for you.
Ahhh you might be on to something Cheryl. The humor is quite similar too. The animal antics etc.
Huh. I could see one being Helena Hunter. The humor is kind of the same.
Sharon, if you don’t need to keep all your books, and read a lot, I’d say go for Kindle Unlimited. I have it and I can’t think of NOT having it. The Ending I Want is a KU, as are half the books I read a month. Also, those little serial books, some of which sound good, but I refuse to pay 99 cents for 30 pages, a lot of those are in KU, and I just read them for free instead. You can do the trial and see if it’s something that works for you. π
Tessa…I never thought about using KU for the serials. I might have to sign up just for those!
Thanks Bev. I just wasn’t mentally prepared for it. And I really am enjoying AEitA. It was just what I needed right now. π
Back to The Anatomical Shape of a Heart. I think it’s the same author who wrote Bitter Spirits which is also in my tbr. I’m excited about it because it takes place in the twenties.
This book though is present day San Francisco. What I’m really liking about her writing is how descriptive she is and good at it. Yet, not overly detailed. The MCs were just in a book store talking and I could totally imagine it and them. I love visual books, if that makes sense. But again its not pages of description.
Bev, In Honor sounds really good. I may want to read that next. I dived right into The Hard Count yesterday and didn’t stop until 5:30 a.m. :O lol, like I haven’t stayed up like that bc I’m getting to where my body literally can’t do it anymore in 3 years. It’s funny bc I was thinking of Friday Night Lights while reading it, just bc of the heavy football atmosphere and I’m wanting more of that. So so good guys! I wish fall would hurry up and arrive already, so sick of this humidity and fall is my fav season. I’m craving pumpkin spice lattes, hot chocolate, brats n popcorn, mmm…and maybe a snicker doodle too! Haha
Tasha, love fall too.
Hmm. I liked it, read it in one sitting. Short easy read. Yet, at the end not one I’d rave about & price is a bit steep.
Amy, sorry to hear that. It’s difficult when patient’s code especially when you have built up a rapport. Surprised no on in dialysis talked about patients coding because chronic renal failure + wacky electrolytes + usually coexisting conditions = codes. *big Hug*
Just one clicked The Hard Count. We seem to like alot of the same books, so looking forward to it.
Ok thanks for the feedback, downloaded a sample to try it out. I may just watch a movie later on tonight bc I’m probably too tired to focus anyway. I feel finicky about what to read, a good movie will hopefully cleanse thy brain. π
Amy, just wanted to say I think it’s awesome what your doing. My Grandma was in dialysis the last few years of her life and spent just as much if not more time there than home. I’m grateful for the extra years it gave us with her and the comfort they provided her.
Amy *huggles*
That must have been a shock for you… still is I’m sure. I don’t know how you guys handle keeping yourselves together when you’ve seen the same people over and over and become friends in a way… and then something bad happens.
I love you very much!! π
Also, I love Naked eyeshadow. π
Ooh I had no idea Fisher Amelie was releasing a new book! And it’s a standalone releasing Monday! I just read a few excerpts from her Facebook page and I want to read it, right now!
Fisher Amelie is a GREAT storyteller!!!! I hear this one is more “lighthearted” and fun. I love that.
Title: Penny in London (that may have been helpful) lol
Yes! Sounds perfect!
Just finished BtB. It was a funny, laugh out loud read, that I still was able to put down and about 60-70% of the way was ready for it to be over. It did get better towards the end. I think the authors take you on an up and down journey that ends on a high note so that you want to read the next book. Now looking forward to Banking Her, based on how BtB ended.
Thanks Tessa!
Cheryl I too am looking forward to Banking Her now!
Amy *hugs* love ya girl!
Just finished BtB. It was a funny, laugh out loud read, that I still was able to put down and about 60-70% of the way was ready for it to be over. It did get better towards the end. I think the authors take you on a somewhat over-the-top, up and down journey that ends on a high note so that you want to read the next book. Now want to read Banking Her, based on how BtB ended.
Oops, sorry, not sure how I entered my comment twice. Not even drinking, yet. π
LOL Cheryl!!!!
Finished The Anatomical Shape of a Heart. Really good. Not decided on what’s next yet.
I just reviewed Anything but Minor and now I’m starting a paper review copy of It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover!! π I’m excited…
I too just read Anything but Minor. Interested to read your review Maryse. There were some cute, funny moments but the timing or writing style was off for me. ..felt a bit amateur which was disappointing. I haven’t read her books before but got the sense that comedy isnt her usual genre.
*shrugs*
Im reading Daisy Prescott – Anything But Love now and loving it. Now her writing style I really enjoy. And love that she does only male POV so her books have that Tangled feel of being in Drew’s clueless man-brain!
Crazy busy today so haven’t had a chance to weigh in on BtB…well, ladies…I gave it a βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ! I really, really seriously LOVED it. Maybe I just find the ‘crude’ humor just way to funny…who knows. All of their antics and one-ups was just awesome….and Philmore F! Bacon…makes me want one! A touch of angst toward the end…with promises of more to come in the future …Max Monroe…you have been added to my list of fav authors!!!
Having a hard time deciding.
I keep meaning to start The Winter Sea, Sawbones, or The Drifter. But also, The Raven Boys, lots of buzz, Bitter Spirits, cause now want to see what she does with an adult romance, and Dragon Bound, have wanted to read since it came out, all look good.
*sigh*
YAY Tessa….you are finally getting to meet HIM! Promise that you will not cry through this one…LOVE, LOVED this book…and if you remember that I went on an on about HIM…maybe one of the PERFECT book boyfriends!
Lisa…I read. Anything but Minor also…maybe I went into with too high hopes…it was good but not a ‘laugh out loud getting strange looks from hubs’ kinda book for me…
Also just finished Lady and the Champ….cute, fun read with lots of funny innuendos from the H!
Humor is such an odd thing. How sometimes everyone is laughing and it might make me smile and then the most absurd little thing or throw away line will have me belly laughing.
Ugh, having trouble figuring out what to read next. Want something with substance, but not necessarily too angsty/sad.
Amy…sending you a big ole hug. It is such a hard thing to experience and I truly have deep respect for all people who work in any type of field that touches the lives of those with medical issues.
Bev…so true! I think mine runs toward dry to slightly crude (in books)…and I appreciate some good sarcasm. Just saying…
Cheryl, have you read Karina Bliss? I have two by her I keep looking at too.
Though think I’m leaning towards Dragon bound……
I’m not usually into crude, though there are exceptions. Witty, dry, and also slightly absurd make me laugh, usually.
And especially these books with these HILIARIOUS animals! One of my favs was Wallbanger…her cat! OMG…made the book too funny!
Okay, I really liked it,and nope. No crying. The whole thing was giggly and sweet. Now, I need emotional grab! TBR time.
Amy, *hugs* I don’t know much about the field your in, but worrying about someone you’ve grown to care for is never easy. So big hugs and here’s Manny. *hands over Manny*
*looks at time* Alright, I’m not starting a TBR. I’m waiting a few minutes for my Harry Potter.
Bev, no I haven’t. I’m going to look her up now.
Tessa, let us know what you think.
Alright, definitely going with Dragon Bound. Gets a lot of live & feel like a well written pnr. And, well, dragons, you know?
Ok, started reading Hitched. It was on my tbr, but I was waiting to start it until it was complete. Book 3 will be released tuesday. Well, the premise was promising but so far it’s just ok and I’m not sure I even like the MC’s. Anyone else read it and if so does it get better?
I didn’t finish Hitched #1. I got about halfway through, but didn’t find it intense enough to hold my attention.
Cheryl I read one (and two in hope it improved) last week and fave them two stars.
My issues:
The plot seemed pretty promising but the ridiculous amount of miscommunication, misunderstanding and unstated feelings/emotions did me in.
I didnt connect with the self centred h or the H….in the end I didnt really care what happened to them.
Silly CHs.
Highlights:
Mercifully short.
I manged to finish them despite my scoffing and groaning.
Apologies for the auto correct issues!

…..Shakes head and huffs off to eat chocolate.
Thanks Maryse and Lisa. That’s exactly the issues I’m having. Going in the dnf pile. So disappointing.
I wish Colleen Hoover’s book would release early-like today. I read some of the sample and that’s what I’m looking for when I say I want to read something with substance. A real story, that is well-written.
You know what I never read November 9, so maybe I’ll read that one today.
Amy, I tried to post to you last night from my phone, but apparently, it didn’t work. ACK! Honey I am so sorry about your code situation. I hope you get good news soon, and I’m really sorry they didn’t prepare you better for it. Cheryl was completely right, dialysis pts are at a higher than normal risk of a cardiac even just because of everything she said… comorbidities plus the procedures that you’re doing, either peritoneal or hemodialysis… electrolyte shifting. It’s a roll of the dice sometimes. But I will keep you and your patient in my thoughts and prayers ((hugs))
Still reading The Angels’ Share. Then I will be onto Harry Potter and The Cursed Child.
Finished Harry Potter. It was too short and I want more darn it! Okay, it wasn’t too short, but I do want more. I need Cursed Child book two just to live in that world a little longer. The bennininf sets up quickly because it’s script firm, but the heart and story are fully there. I could have five epilogues and wanted more, though I do wish there a n epilogue at the end. Just that extra HEA to enjoy. Still, loved it. π
I’m glad Tessa.
I just can’t read it yet. I’m nervous about the fact that Rowling didn’t write the play. Also, read some reviews that said it sort of read like fanfic. Just the series was so great as is, I don’t want that ruined, lol. Though apparently the actors & sets are great and comes across well on stage.
Just like I still have not brought myself to read Go Set A Watchman.
I gave up on Go Set a Watchman. I hate mysteries and I kept staring at the book, totally uninterested. I would love for her to write a new world, ya. I can see why it seems like a fanfic. The fact that it’s a screenplay makes it much quicker and it does lack that world building that we all love. I would love to see the play. Also, I adored the two Albus and his best friend, though I wish some stuff hadn’t happened.
Reading November 9 and the H’s brother is the pilot and best friend of Miles in Ugly Love.
What are you reading now, Tessa?
If Fabi comes by I’m going to say my favorite read of the month was The Anatomical Shape of a Heart.
Pretty good month. 13 read and the majority good & YA.
Nothing. Book fog and well, life. Tonight will be Day Zero!
Tessa how are you liking the latest Kresley book?
How many is there to be in that series?
In the Arcana. I don’t know. I don’t remember the author actually giving us a definitive answer.
Catching up on all the posts. It’s nice to see I’m not the only one who dnfs… π
Bev, do you mean Thea Harrison’s Dragon Bound? I read that one and it was OK but nothing too brilliant. I did actually finish it though. LOL. There is a whole series and I tried a couple of the others but didn’t really get hooked. Kind of ‘meh’ for me. But I know the series is pretty popular so you should def try it and see what you think.
I’m not quite ready to read The Cursed Child yet, although i know I will succumb eventually. My son, (adult!) is a Harry Potter nut and he told me the play (in London) is booked out already till May 2017. What the? My sister and I are going on a holiday to England later this year but I guess we won’t get to see the play :/
Okay, so this might get long but you guys were so sweet in your comments and y’all mean so much to me that I can’t just give a blanket response…
Cheryl…they did tell me it was a possibility but that our patients are all pretty stable and will go to the hospital for dialysis if they are having problems. So this was unexpected. But thank you so much, my friend.
Tasha…*hugs* for your grandma. I’m so glad you were able to get more time with her.
Maryse…love you too mami, so much! *snuggle hug*
Jean…I’ve missed you around here! *hugs* right back at you. Love ya too!
DG…thank you! I truly do love working with the patients and am getting quite attached to them. π
Tessa…*takes Manny and snuggles him* And where are you going, woman? You’re gettin’ a snuggle too!!
Grey…thank you for all of that info, lady. I still have soooo much to learn and will probably take a few more courses before I commit to working in this field so I can provide the best care possible for those precious people. *hugs*
Ughhhhh…
Worst. Sleep. Ever.
And not for any reason at all. You know the kind of sleep when you start dozing and then are jolted awake by your own brain that’s not actually thinking? Over and over and over again?
Yeah. That sleep.
I did have a cappuccino at 3pm in the afternoon. Could it possibly be that? Yikes. Never again.
And now that the mushy stuff is out of the way…
I am cracking up over Lisa’s comment about her two-star reads (the Hitched books?). Holy moly I love this place. π
I finished An Ember in the Ashes and it was *really* good (guys…Bev was right again!). But now I have no idea what to read, so someone give me a number between 1 and 336 for my 2016 collection. Ready…set…GO!
Amy I can not wait for the sequel. August 30th.
Number ……whatever Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda is. π
Wait.
I’ll walk over to the Sunday post and throw a peanut.
*scrambles after Bev to Sunday post*
July is not quite over yet but I can tell you already that it has been an outstanding reading month for me. It not only made up for a lacklustre June, it may well end up being my best reading month of the year.
Fortunately, I read Wolfsong in July, so the number one spot was easily secured, but OMG, I read some outstanding books this month.
What about you guys? Can you pinpoint your July #1 spot?
Amy, goodreads tells me I have read 28 books this month, so that’s my number for you. 28.
Jeez!! I read 2 lol. The last 2 fish books and they’ve ruined me for all others.
July #1 – Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. (It’s HP!)
*huggles Amy and grins*
I read 25 this month. I don’t count Stupid Girl because I DNF’d that one.
Nope. One is 24 because I’ve no clue when I read it, but I started to read it this month and realized I’d read it before.
I think my fave book for July overall… Hmmm this is hard, because I did have a couple 5 stars which is odd for me. But I think my fave book for July is Playing with Monsters by Amelia Hutchins.
Dang, Grey, Tessa. That’s a lot of books for the month. I went and checked mine because I usually average around 16 and I counted 21 for the month of July. :-O That’s a lot for me. AND 12 of them were 5 star reads! No wonder it felt like such an awesome reading month.
So far we have 1sts for July
Wolfsong
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Playing with Monsters
R. Can I assume I assume one of your two was your favorite? π
Oh shoot!!! I forgot to list Bev’s and she was the first to post!!!
The Anatomical Shape of a Heart (Bev)
Wolfsong (Fabi)
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Tessa)
Playing with Monsters (Grey)
Fish Tales (R)
I love these month end favorites because they’re usually so diverse.
Ive read 23 this month (although two of those were Hitched 1 & 2 which are novellas).
It has been a really up and down month for reading for me…way too many 2-3 star books.
The highlights though have been awesome:
Lock and Key
Random and Rare,
Ready to fall
Banking the billionaire ……were my five stars.
Others I loved (4-4.5 starred):
Bossman
Read My Lips
Steadfast,
Roommates
Moonshot,
A Lovers Lament.
Fabi, lol I loved them both 5 stars worth. I can say without a doubt that is my all time favorite series and the first one might possibly be my new favorite book. Of all time. I say possibly because it’s still shiny and new, but I can’t get over it. Ashley’s reading it now and I’m dying all over again.
My top July reads would be Wolfsong and Moonshot.
*narrows eyes* It’s 9:19 and no book yet.
Is it a sickness to keep hitting the sync button waiting for a book to appear? I know I’m lucky in that I don’t have to wait until midnight, but I’m so impatient and greedy to get my hands on this one!
*hits sync again*
Not there yet.
It is here!
Amazon has given Tessa a book. Tessa is free!
*runs off to read Day Zero*
LOL Tessa. That was me waiting for One True Loves!
Bad nights suck. Then when you have to get up is usually when I can fall back asleep. Lol.
I’d love anyone’s tips on how to feel better through the day after a bad night.
I definitely hit the caffeine, but been trying to drink more water and maybe some B12 after a bad night. Try…..it’s mostly caffeine. π
Ugh, I hate nights like that Maryse. I have wicked insomnia anyway, it comes from years of working night shift, so I feel your pain.
Ugh, it must be contagious…bad sleep for me last night as well. By the way, taking Zzzquil at 11:30 when you have to get up four hours later is NOT a good idea. Just in case y’all were wondering. π
I was wondering if this would happen, and it did…The Butterfly Garden is going to be a movie.
*shudder*
Amy really? Hey Fabi…wanna meet in Waco and go? LOL.
I didn’t sleep either but it was my own fault. I was up until 3 reading Broken Prince. Didn’t want to put it down but still didn’t love it all that much…does that even make sense?
Amy… no just… omg NO!!!
R… YES! I completely understand!!!
haha R
although, if they tweek the plot and cast the villain(s) correctly, it might work
I love my sleep, so when it’s a bad night, I am miserable in the morning! Hope you ladies make it through the day without falling asleep! LOL!
Okay, I’ve only read 9 books this month (I was surprised, but just been busy I guess). Fortunately for me, I had lots of 5 star reads: Full Tilt, Blur, Night Shifts Black, Backfire, Deep Redemption, Bossman.
I’d have to say Bossman was my favorite for the month though!
*hee hee* I’m going to watch TBG (maybe not in he theater but on DVD) if only to see how beautifully haunting the “butterflies” look when they…you know…
*shudder* <—— again!!
