- The Restorer (The Graveyard Queen Book 1) by Amanda Stevens <— Heidi is LOVING this series!!
Heidi: Hi Maryse!! I just wanted to say thank you so much to one of your readers that recommended the Graveyard Queen series by Amanda Stevens. It is SO good! Unique plot and characters. More of a slow burn which I like. And paranormal. She can see ghosts! Great summer reading series.
I’m just starting book four and each book has been better and better and plot twists from book 1 solved in book 3!
Just checking in to say I finished Save The Date (Dating Series Book 1) by Monica Murphy last night. I enjoyed it. It was a lighthearted and easy read that I found quite refreshing.
I also read Justified by Jay Crownover earlier in the month. Hubba hubba. It was a good enemies to lovers with a hot alpha male sheriff…need I say more? I loved it!
Lastly, I also read Once Upon a Bad Boy: A Sometimes in Love Novel by Melonie Johnson. I’ve actually read that whole series (3 books so far) and I’ve enjoyed all of them but that one was by far my favorite. It was a good second chance romance…
Ooops…one more if Maryse will indulge me. I don’t think it’s on here but for those of you who read Teagan Hunter, she has a new one out and I finished it yesterday. It’s called A Pizza MB07T1TKVV4y Heart (Slice Book 1). It was a fun and quick read. It has her classic and quirky sarcasm which is often just what I need to break up my intense reads. It’s a blooming romance between this girl and her twin brother’s best friend …only he’s just moved back…and there’s a story behind it. It’s a good read.
Ok, that’s it. Happy reading to everyone!
- Aurora Terminus by Susan Fanetti <— SUSAN FANETTI POST APOCALYPTIC ALERT!! Mari (and Jan) LOVE this one!
Mari: Did you know Susan Fanetti also wrote a post-apocalyptic book titled Aurora Terminus under the pen name S.E. Fanetti? Wow, there were plenty of triggers but I so empathized with Diana surviving alone for years. Look it up and when you’re in the mood for something gritty give it a try.
I so wish Susan Fanetti would publish her books in audio.
Jan: Aurora Terminus. It’s really good. For any of you who like a bit of post-apocalypse with a side serve of romance, I highly recommend. Gripping stuff.

I’m first!!??? Wanted to jump on board before gym and running into office to do end of month reports to say I’m almost half way thru Aurora Terminus by Susan Fanetti and it’s another amazing read so far. Utterly and completely hooked!! No word skipping here once again with this author!!
YAY!!!!!!! I need to check this book out ’cause 1.) I’ve already fallen in love with a recent book of hers, so I’m excited to read more, and 2.) I LOVE Post Apocalyptic stories!!!! 😀
I like Michelle G’s recommendations. She and I have similar book taste so I always add her rec’s To my TBR. 🙂
And I do the same with yours…and neither of us will ever complete Mount TBR….lol!
Just a fun sidenote….the couple on the cover of A Pizza My Heart is actually dating in real life now (but had never met before they did that photo shoot) and they are so freaking cute….just throwing that out there.
Aww That is cute! 🙂
I LOVE behind-the-books tidbits!!! One of Michelle Mankin’s photoshoots ended up with her male and female model meeting on set and becoming a couple too. How cool!!!
That is so neat! I also love stories like that!
Maryse–just wanted to tell you thanks for the food info you gave the other day. I’m going to check out the Netflix show. Even if I can’t do full-on Keto, I’d still like to learn the mechanics of it and other better eating that excludes sugar as much as possible. I actually enjoy eating foods that have less sugar–I just wish they’d take it out and leave it instead of adding artificial sweeteners in its place, especially with flavored waters. I get so tired of seeing ‘low sugar’ or ‘sugar free’ on a label and then reading the ingredients and finding ‘aspartame’ or ‘sucralose’.
Oh Nay I am SO with you. For example, I wasn’t much of a soda drinker, but when I was feeling a little ugh, I’d LOVE to drink a ginger ale (but I’m not into the diet sweeteners), so I just don’t drink any at all. But then I discovered bubbly water!!
So now, I get the LaCroix or the Bubly or whatever flavored (but completely unsweetened) carbonated water is on sale and I LOVE that. I feel like I’m having a treat even though it did take time getting used to smelling the amazing scent of the flavor (all natural – like rasbperry is my favorite and smells INCREDIBLE) but then drinking and NOT getting that sweet edge to it. But now I love it, and find it refreshing.
So maybe that will help a bit in getting that fizzy drink but not the sugar.
There is ONE flavored water I can drink and it’s Sparkling Ice’s black raspberry. It has sucralose in it. I am not trying any more flavored waters, though. Bubbly might have one that is free of citrus, but I tried one, the watermelon, and it had a citric of some sort. I only know because I bought it, started to drink it right as I left the store, and had to run back in for an emergency Benedryl because my throat started to swell. 🙁 Apparently, my sensitivity to citrus has worsened. Not worth the risk.
GASP!!!!!
I live for citrus!!! Lemons are a staple in my daily diet. OH MY Tessa!!!! Were you ever able to have citrus?
I probably wasn’t? lol I’ve known for years lemonade is an issue. My brother’s family and I went to a restaurant and he said, oh, I can’t have pink lemonade. I’m allergic. It makes my throat clog up. I thought, same here, but I thought that was normal. 😛
But 12 years ago I was getting allergies that wouldn’t stop. I was drinking crystal light in water bottles and realized that stopping drinking them made me feel better. “citric acid” Then about a year or two after that, I ran out of soda. A few days later, I got some, and my allergies came back. Stopped drinking them again for a week, allergies went away. Drank one with phosphorous acid and got super sick. So, neither acid.
A few years later, I was “sick”. So, ate an orange to get my vitamin C up. It was still bad. Each day, an orange. My body started to cringe and I had no idea why. So, I stopped eating them and boom. Two days later all better. The next week, ate an orange, and sick again.
Ate a lemon chicken a few months later, instant sick. All the citruses have since been tested and NOPE. That’s what caused my issue two years ago. Lemon in the cream cheese frosting of a carrot cake for my birthday. The time where the pharmacist literally said, next time call 911 because my throat closed up. 🙁 So I avoid even a chance like the plague!
GASP!!!!!!
And I just had this AMAZING lemon meringue cheesecake made for father’s day (even the cheesecake part had lemon in it) along with the lemon curd. And candied caramelized lemon slices to decorate it.
Who knew?? But I believe it. I know a few who react just as badly with banana. Even just a hint of banana will do it.
OMG, Tessa! That’s horrid! It’s great that you figured out what it was. I’m like Maryse–I love lemons and eat them with almost everything.
Maryse–I’ll try that Bubly or LaCroix water. I’m a huge fizz lover and also a huge ginger ale lover. After my transplant, they put me on insulin until my body got used to the meds, so I was really careful about sugar, but sometimes I needed some ginger ale for the queasiness that also accompanied my new meds. Hubs and I went all over town searching for ginger ale with the least sugar and no artificial sweeteners. I think it ended up being Seagrams, but it still had a lot of sugar in it, so I only drank it in case of emergency
Alrght is it me or. other than the face, it looks like the woman on the Work Me cover is saying OMG, get away?
I’ve been wanting to bake, but mostly can’t because of diabetes. That article you showed made sense, Maryse, though I’d have to go VERY SLOWLY in getting rid of carbs because of YUM. 🙂 And I HATE zucchini and yellow squash. lol No zoodles for me.
Tessa, she is absolutely trying to get away from him…lol.
I forgot about Aurora Terminus! I’m too tired to read tonight, but I wanna try this weekend. Think I have 0 plans, for once. I should clean, but then when would I get down time like this again? I totally spent an hour today watching Kim Jones fb live makeup tutorial. You guys should check it out too. It had me in pain I was laughing so hard in spots. Lol!
She ALWAYS has me cackling out loud. I LOVE her!!!!
Happy Friday!
I’m reading Sparrow, by LJ Chen. I went to get my hair done, and wifi was so bad I couldn’t download my current read… so… I’m feverishly scrolling through my Kindle app for a downloaded book while stewing under the dryer. I found this one, and I’d barely started it months ago. Must have had a fancy sparkly new release that distracted me,
It’s a good one and there’s an infuriating part. Or three. 😉 Enjoy!!!!
Happy saturday!!! I just finished The Locker Room. I was loving it until about 3/4 of the way thru. Then I was like really?! ! Kept waiting for it to be a “dream.” Seemed like a convenient twist for the author.
Not sure what’s next.
Wow. Now that school is out everyday is saturday. LOL. 😉
Dream Maker could be good. But 2020!!!! Oh well, just have to wait.
I’m really looking forward to a new KA series!
Sharing this song cuz every time it comes on, it makes me happy. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XdEN1b-dwlw
Just to say Good Morning.
Good morning to you too, bev 😀 Hope you’ve been having a lovely day.
Good morning bev!
I’m a day late. 😉 But it’s morning again, so YAY!! I get to say it to you. Yesterday was a huge backing up of the “favorites lists” day into their proper categories. I got a lot done.
Hi ladies. *waves shyly*
I have A LOT to catch up on around here. Missed you all. And just to jump right back into it…
THE GIRL HE USED TO KNOW IS ON SALE FOR 1.99!!!!! 😀
Well. Well. Well.
Look who it is.
Amy.
Amy who missed watching Maryse’ bird poop corn grow up.
It’s ok.
Maryse loves you baby.
Amy who missed little dude breaking his first phone.
It’s ok.
Maryse loves you baby.
Amy who missed Maryse waving her arc in front of Ela’s face.
It’s ok.
Maryse loves you baby.
Amy who missed Ela biting Maryse.
It’s ok……I mean it hurt…but really she’s ok.
I’m sure someone gave her a band aid.
Maryse loves you baby.
Amy who missed Leslie break out of her reading rut by reading contemporary romance that is not too sad and only first person.
It’s ok…..even though she really needed a reading buddy.
I mean she had Nay, Jean, Tessa, and a Michelle or two.
Hmm. Everyone really likes Leslie. (Remember when Jean was the favorite?)
But anyway it’s ok.
Maryse loves you baby.
Amy who missed Maryse finding a favorite summer song.
It’s not ok. She played it over and over.
And sang it too.
Any excuse.
You wouldn’t believe it.
Just listen so you can get it out of the way
https://youtu.be/BClGgaznArc
Because we love her baby.
Dude. DUDE. I really did miss out on a bunch of stuff. I have at least a month’s worth to catch up on. Trust me, it was better I was away lately. I was…not in a good place.
I felt like I was being a creeper coming back in here all sneaky-like. Then I read bev’s always-hilarious recaps and feel right back at home.
I love you ladies. 😊
I hope you are on a better place Amy.
Sometimes we need to step back and have quiet times.
I am, bev. Or at least getting there. 😉
I LOVE YOU AMY!!!!!
I missed you too, but I always know when we take time away from here (even me) it’s either because we’re super busy, or we need some alone and regrouping time. I’ve been there a few times over the course of this ten year old blog. I totally get you, my friend.
I LOVE YOU TOO, MY SWEET FRIEND AND BOOK TWIN!
Missed you too Amy. I’ve been MIA too. Real life was crazy. I hope you are in a better place now. 🙂 Thought about you yesterday- my daughter and I were in the MAC store. Thinking of making up a “kit” with makeup goodies for her to take to college. She doesn’t wear makeup day-to-day, just “special” events so far, but thinking she will want some for those “going-out” times in college. Could of used your help. I’m not up on MAC products.
Guess I was so MIA ^^Bev forgot about me. *goes off to cry…
Oh no, don’t cry! We would never forget about you. Hear that, bev? She thinks you forgot about her!
Real life sucks it out of us sometimes, huh? I hope you were able to get your baby girl all set up with some going-out makeup. MAC is a good choice for that. 😉
Welcome back Amy!! I figured you were extra busy sticking needles in people. 😜
Still sticking needles in people but I even had to take some time away from work for a bit. No one wants a half-crazy person putting a needle in their arm. *giggle*
*snort*
LOL!!!! Oh how I love this!!
I have bad news about bird poop corn. 🙁 I’m so sad, but I can’t be mad… my landscaper/weeder guy came by last week. Did an AWESOME job as usual. But.. a little overzealous in the weeding as he apparently thought that ONE LONE CORN STALK amidst my flower bed didn’t belong.
And he plucked it.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa *thud*
*fainted*
Oooooooh nooooooo!!! 😱
RIP bird poop corn.
I knowwwww…
It took me days to recover. It’s going to be one of tomorrow’s “Monday three things” since I want to properly memorialize our corn.
Oh nooo. Reminds me of when my Dad was “helping” and pulled up a little lemon tree/plant my kids had started from a seed. They still mess with him about it whenever he is “helping” in the yard.
Holy moly…I have to go back and see what this bird poop corn is. It just sounds so…so…inedible. And green. 🤢
OMG WHAT A FIND!!!!!!!!
Amy! It’s great to see you! I’ve been semi not around, but I’ve been wondering where you’ve been. You’ve been missed!
Awwww, all y’all have been missed by me as well! ❤️
Bev!!! We went to see Yesterday and loved it!!! 👍
Not sure if I ever mentioned that we didnt like Rocketman. 👎
Was it good?
I’m going to have to go and watch it.
